Spid Network Library

Apr 7, 2006

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if it's possible to see which library which a spid is using? For example, is the spid coming from a jdbc connection, or an odbc connection?

Thanks,

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionRead (recv()).]General Network Error. Check Your Network Documen

Sep 30, 2004

Hello all,

We have a Windows 2003 Web Edition server serving a site through IIS. It connects to a Windows 2003 Standard Edition server running SQL 2000 SP3a.

This site receives the following error as seen in the topic:
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionRead (recv()).]General network error. Check your network documentation.

We've configured the server network utility to only allow TCP/IP connections. The connection string for the site is as follows:

<%
' FileName="Connection_ado_conn_string.htm"
' Type="ADO"
' HTTP="false"
' Catalog=""
' Schema=""
MM_connSpankMSSQL_STRING = "Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=SERVER_IP,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=ourmaindb_1;User ID=ourmaindb_1;Password=hotcookies;"
%>

Any ideas or tips on solving this issue? We've noticed it is due to larger queries as smaller ones do work with no problems.

The servers are behind a BSD box running iptables, has 1433,1434 along with standard web ports wide open. Anything outbound is allowed.

Some further testing via ODBC on the IIS server improved things. No more connection pooling for the SQL Server driver allows for 1/3 of the query to run. Still 2/3s of it doesn't show up, and that general network error message appears.

Should have 330 rows if it works right.

May 19, 2004

Hi
While running a DTS, many times the error message: "[DBNETLIB][ConnetionWrite (WrapperWrite()).]General network error. Check your network documentation." appears.
Does somebody knows why?

I am running the DTS from a computer (not the server where the DTS is stored) and it is connected without any problem when this happens.

Thanks!!

General Network Error. Check Your Network Documentation

Jan 9, 2006

I use sqlclient to connect directly from my mobile 5 pocketpc to a sql server 2005 database on my desktop.

I use a sqldatareader to traverse the results of a query that delivers 2 fields: (1) the filespec, and (2) the image field.

I use a filestream with a binary writer to write the contents of the image data to the pocketpc's storage card.

I have a test table with 10 images, not one more than 4 MB.  I cannot complete a test run prior to receiving the  general network error.

The pocketPC is connected via activesync to the desktop, and I connect to the database with:

Integrated Security=false;
user id=sa
password=admin.

Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated.

Error Connecting To SSIS - Error Loading Type Library/DLL

May 20, 2008

Hello,

I recently joined a company that is having an issue connecting to SQL Server Integration Services on one of their production servers. When trying to connect via management studio, both locally and remotely, they receive the error below. The server is a 64 bit server and is using third party replication (Veritas).

It sort of sounds like the issue described in this knowledge base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919224. However, we do not have a problem creating maintenance plans. I'd just give it a shot but its a production server and getting approval to do anything that modifies the registry with the registry replication setup is a pain, so I'd like to determine if there could be another cause first.

Hi, I received the following message after a DBCC run. This was fixed by a DBCC UpdateUsage. The question is, is there a reference where I can find details on errors as the above and their causes (other than Googling it or posting to a forum)?

Thanks

SQL Dumper Library Failed - Error On Boot

Sep 19, 2007

I just added a post but I don't see it so here I go agian, sorry if it shows up later and there ends up being two of them.
I started getting the error message - SQL Dumper Library failed ... Please reinstall... it doesn't say what to reinstal. Does anyone know if this is part of Office or XP? My problem started when I added Office 2007 and the additional Business contacts program from the web site.
I did get SQL 2005 and installed it but it says it isn't working. When I click to repair it, it wants the disk, again I don't know what disk or program it wants, although it will not fix it from the XP disk.
Any help would be appreciated!

Getting Past SQL Network Interface Error 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified

Sep 21, 2006

First-time poster (and very new to ASP.NET, so please be patient) - I am using VS 2005.  I have an ASP.Net 2.0 app that is using Forms Authentication and a Login server control with AspNetSqlMembershipProvider.  I have an instance of ASPNETDB.MDF in the App_Data directory on my local machine and all works well (or at least as expected).  I used the Copy Web Site function to port the app (including the ASPNETDB.MDF files) to my production platform, where I encounter the error mentioned in the subject line.  I have found posts (both here and other forums) that mention enabling TCP/IP using Surface Area Configuartion Utility, SQL Server Browser are exempt from firewall, and a few other things.  My production machine does not have SQL SVR 2005 installed nor SQL SVR Express.  Do I have to install SQL Server Express onto my production platform in order to resolve this, or is there another means (something in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio on my local machine) that will enable me to do this on the production machine? Also, I have been told that it is possible to use a database on another machine as the data store for authentication.  Does anyone know how to do that?  This would make the first question moot. Thanks in advance!

Provider: SQL Network Interfaces, Error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

Apr 30, 2008

Ok can somebody please explain to me why only 1/2 my project is getting this error.  I am working with SQLExpress on a remote windows 2003 box.  The sql server has its service running and the browser is also running.  The server has been set to allow remote connections and to accept TCP/IP and Named Pipes.  Now, the website uses asp.net membership and roles to allow the users to login, which actually works.  So I know that there are no errors in that connection string.  However, all the data acess code is compliled as a sepeate class library thats referenced in the bin directory.  When calling those methods to beind to a control in code, is where i run into this error.  The class library connection string in the app.config file is exactly the same as the connection string in the web.config...i have checked permissions as well, im at a loss to the reason why this is not working....its probably something simple, but im not finding it.

On a seperate note - How do i get the remote database to show up in the server explorer on vs2008, i have tried putting in the ip addressinstance name, and a combo of there items, it will not connect. I have a feeling the two issues are connected.  Also fyi, on the remote box, I am able to login with the sql studio express, so im not really sure exactly wuts gong on.  Both items are really important and i need to be able to use both of them.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Linq: SQL Network Interfaces, Error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified

May 15, 2008

Hello, I have deployed myWebApp on the IIS. All went well now, but the site does not have any connection with the database.  I've already done a search on the error 26, which gave me alot of hints about solving the problem.Still I'm gettting this error. I already enabled the remote connections through the sql surface area configuration.Could it have something to do with the fact that I use LINQ? I can't find any connectionstring to modify anywhere ...  Help would be appreciated.

Provider: SQL Network Interfaces, Error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified

Mar 24, 2006

I made a simple ASP.NET 2.0 Website that uses memberships, roles, and access to MS SQL Server 2005 database. Everything works fine on my development computer (WinXP Pro). When I deployed this Website on another computer (WinXP Pro) and tried to access the main page from the same computer, I get the error below.
I disabled the Windows Firewall (the only one I use), I ensured that SQL Server Browser is Active and Running, and I changed Remote Connections in SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration to use Local and Remote connections for all the components.
In my Web.Config I used:
<connectionStrings><add name="sqlConnString" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|DBdemo.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/></connectionStrings>
Any idea why am I getting the following error?

Server Error in '/WebDV' Application.
