I run DBCC PAGE (dbname, 1, 136, 3) with trace 3604 on:

Table error: DBCC PAGE page (1:136) (object ID 0, index ID 0) is out of the range of this database.

I followed the advice of Paul Randal, but Im stumped as I am not able to determin what the corruption issues are. This is SQL 2000 and the database is a Solomon database that was recently upgraded to 6.5. the error I get when running the DBCC checkdb is as follows:

Now, the bad news. I am a bit of a novice and have picked this up from someone who left my company. It appears the latch error has been around for some time and only reared up when I instituted a new back up system that runs a dbcc check befor backing up. I don't think I have any clean backups.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to look at the way my data is stored in the page. I have done this for a long time on Sybase, but I am having trouble with the page number on MS SQLServer 2000. I have a 5 row table. When I select INDID and FIRST from SYSINDEXES, I get

I have tried all manner of gyrations to put this in to the DBCC PAGE command. No matter how I do it, I get an error saying that page is not part of the database, or the format is wrong. From my searching and reading, I think that this actually a combination number, consisting of the file and page number, but I can't see how to separate it. Any assistance would be appreciated. A link to documentation on internals, such as system table details and page formats would be most helpful. I looked in Ken Henderson's book on architecture and internals, and could not find it.
Or is there a DBCC command that will tell me more about the table, and perhaps give me the page number in decimal? So far, I can only find the checkdb gives that info on errors only.

I have a corrupt sql server 2000 database table, dbcc checktable yields:

Table error: Object ID 738101670. The text, ntext, or image node at page (1:5663737), slot 0, text ID 1922475229184 is referenced by page (1:4527446), slot 9, but was not seen in the scan.
When I try to use dbcc page( testdb, page#,1 ) where I plug in any of the reported page#'s above I always get the following:
"Server: Msg 8968, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
Table error: DBCC PAGE page (41728:1) (object ID 0, index ID 0) is out of the range of this database.
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator."
The only page value which does not yield this error is page 1, which is the only pageno I found on any examples on the web. I guess this is because this is the only page it works on???

I ran a DBCC Showcontig (tableid) and it tell me that one of my tables is only putting 0.19% data on each page. How can I control this for more data on a page. It tells me that I have 8078.8 bytes free per page.

How do I find out what is wrong without resorting to backups?
I have lost the reference but I read somewhere that when running DBCC DBREINDEX against a clustered index, all the secondary indexes on the table are automatically re-indexed as well. I did a test of this on a small table and it seemed to confirm this. However, now I've put this into practice, I am finding that it doesn't seem to work this way. I noticed that having run DBCC DBREINDEX against a table's clustered index (DBCC DBREINDEX ('tablename', 'clusteredIndexName', fill_factor)), the secondary indexes were not automatically re-indexed - as born out by the fact that they remained badly fragmented.
First of all, do the dba's who read this beleive it is correct that DBCC DBREINDEX run against a clustered index will automatically rebuild the secondary indexes too? If so, why wouldn't it work in all cases?

Normally, after I use DBCC DBREINDEX, I can be sure that Scan Density on a clustered or non-clustered index is very good - eg. 99% or 100%. However, I have one database where there are a number of indexes that are not showing any improvement in Scan Density after running DBCC DBREINDEX. In on case, a clustered index, I run it on two days in succession and Scan Density actually go worse! Can anyone give me a reason for this? Can anyone suggest how to fix it?

Does anyone know if there is a simple way to get the results of a DBCCINPUTBUFFER() request into a table? I have a process for monitoringactivity that will give me the results of sp_who2 into a temp table,and want to scroll through the active connections and get the inputbuffers into another table for review:Insert into #TmpWhoexec sp_who2 'active'Something like that with the dbcc command.I am using SQL 2000 SP4.Thanks,Tom

I've tried adding a begin tran and commit tran around it, doesn't help ...
Is there any way around this? Is there any other way to capture the output of a shrink database from a procedure perspective?

I need to send a group of people a list of specific processes running on the server, one of the requirements is to send them what's actually being ran on the machine. I have the information I was on the sysprocess tabke and the results of the DBCC Inputbuffer. Is there a way to link both result sets?
This is the criteria of the processes that neeed to be sent out to my users:

I can find many examples of loading DBCC results into tables. They all begin with a create table statement defining the results. My question is , other than trial and error, is there a way to determine what data types will be returned. Sure you can say that first element looks like an integer, but is it really a bigint, and that text string can be varchar(max) but will char(2) work.
I'm not looking for an answer for a specific DBCC function, but rather a generic way I can determine the characteristics of any DBCC result set.
I tried

Hello I have a project that uses a large number of MS Data access pages created in Access 2003 and runs on MS SQL2005.
When I am on lets say my client, (first page in a series) data access page and I have completed the fields in the (DAP), I am directing my users to the next step of the registration process by means of a hyperlink to another Data access page in the same web but in a linked or sometimes different table.
I need to pass data entered /created on the first page to the next page and populate the next page with some data from the first page / table. (like staying on the client name and ID when i go to the next page)
I also need the first data access page to open and display a blank or new record. Not an existing record. I will also be looking to creata a drop down box as a record selector.
Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
I am some what new to data access pages so a walk through would be nice but anything you got is welcome. Thanks Peter€¦
The following objects are placed on the Report body of the Report pane of SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services :

I can't find any explanation why is it string1 and string 2 of the footer section of my report displayed separately from the expression3 which is aligned on it and the rest of the object on the second page.
The expected design is that all Footer items should be displayed together of whether it is placed on the first page or on the last page.
As a workaround of this, I converted string 1 into an expression (Added = and enclosed the string with double quote).. As a result, all of the items in the Footer section are now placed together on the last page of the report.
I also remember one of the issue I encountered before where the Footer items where placed together on the first page and still have space at the bottom of the page, but then expression 6 is forced to display (alone) on the last page of my report.
I can't find any discussion related to this, I wish somebody could give me an idea why RS behaved like this.

I have tested.. every page break..you'll have a different sheet in your excel export

If I have a report that includes a page header, the report viewer will render the report at the full width, but if I hide the page header and show only the body it will use the absolute width of the report.
I have a 7" wide report, with .75" borders set on each side.
Interactive & Print size are set to 8.5x11
Changing these sizes has no effect on the behavior of the viewer, which appears to ignore them.
When I view this report in the local viewer the contents fill the window if there is no page header.
If I enable the page header then the report is drawn at 8.5" wide, leaving a _big_ white border on the right side.
Any comments or workarounds that anyone knows? I know the local viewer is not a standard configuration (at least it seems) but it is what we need to use.Thanks,//Andrew

I have a report with multiple tables. I need to show each tables in different pages. When there is no data for tables/tables , it is coming with the next table which has data. I have given "Add a page break after" option in the tablix but still the tables are coming together when no data available. How can I show it in different page?
