I have a DTS Package created with SQL2000 client tools, which contains a SQL connection and a sql task (exec sp_who2). When I run the package on my PC it works, when I run the package via SQL Agent it comes back with :-
DTSRun: Loading... Error: -2147287038 (80030002); Provider Error: 0 (0) Error string: The system cannot find the file specified. Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package Help file: sqldts.hlp Help context: 713. Process Exit Code 1. The step failed.
I am not using any files. The DTS Package is called PMC_Test
Here is the dtsrun syntax from the SQL Agent job.
DTSRun /S "APP003" /N "PMC_Test" /E
When I try and open the DTS package using SQL7 client tools I get the same error message.
Hello,Is it necessary to upgrade the Client Connectivity Tools on all clientmachines after the SQL Server database server is upgraded from Version7.0 to 2000?Thank you in advance!Eddy
Is there a way to verify the version of the files that are used to connect to SQL 2005?? This stems from an ongoing problem I am having with having SQL 2000 and 2005 on the same machine... It has come done to the client connectivity files....
One of the big problems with the old MDAC was different versions on different client machines. You would test your app with the latest version say, but when you deployed it, it might fail as the client has a different version.
My company develops software for Municipal Government clients. These clients use other SQL Server applications as well as ours, but they can only use one version of the client software (MDAC) on a given desktop. That means if we require a particular MDAC version, but the clients other applications from other vendors don't officially support that MDAC version, the client is in a real jam.
Our software also supports Oracle, which allows our software to specify a particular Oracle Home which points to a directory with a particular version of the Oracle client dlls (along with corresponding registry entries for that Oracle Home), such that we control the exact client version of the Oracle software that the client uses with our applications. This will not interfere with, and is completely seperate, from the default Oracle home installed when you install the Oracle client software.
What I would like to see for the Native Client is the ability to have our applications use the version of the Native Client that we wish to support and deploy without interfering with the Native Client version used by other applications. Have a default Native Client, but allow applications to somehow specify a different Native Client version/set of DLLs.
Is there any such functionality with the Native Client? (I didn't see any mention of such in the documentation, but I thought I'd ask)
If not, are there any future plans to support multiple Native Client versions on the same desktop?
I have the SQL 6.5 client tools installed on my machine, I also have MSDE installed. However the client tools do not see the MSDE. I keep getting the error message that I have attached to this message as a gif. Anybody have any ideas it would be appreciated.
I have installed SQL 2005 on a new machine and cannot find any of theclient tools I am used to having: query analyzer, enterprise mgr.,profiler. Shouldn't they be included in a default installation if Ichose to install client tools? Where do I go to find them?*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***

How should I reinstall client Tools? Might be to merge original SS2005 DVD with downloaded SP2?
I have installed the SQL 2005 Client tools in anticipation of our servers been upgraded to SQL 2005 soon. I would like to create a local instance of SQL 2005 i.e. Express so I can try out functionality while I wait for the servers to be upgraded.
Is this possible or is now installing Express going to mess up some of the currently installed tools?
In Server Explorer of VS .NET 2003, I tried to generate SQL script of the dbo.Portal (ibs) but got "To use this feature, you must install the client tols for SQL Server"
When I searched for Help, I've got "1.Insert the MS SQL Server 2000 compact disc in your CD-ROM drive"
I installed and use MSDE and cannot recall the use of any CD for installation.
1) Does it mean that I cannot install client tools from MSDE installation?
If not...
2) I have installation of MS SQL Server200 Enterprise that cannot be installed on Windows Xp Professional that I use. Can I still install "client tools" from Enterprise Ed. for MSDE
I`m planning on installing sql7 beta on my desktop. Currently I have sql6.5 client tools installed on my desktop for performing DBA tasks against our test and prod. sql6.5 servers. Does anyone know if installing sql7 will conflict with my sql6.5 client tools or cause any other problems?
I'm trying to install SQL Server 2000 client tools on an XP workstation.MSDE already exists on the workstation. During the install I am neverprompted for a location to install to. I want to install to my D drive. Theinstall defaults to my C drive.Any thoughts?
Hi,I'm looking for stand alone installation for SQL server Client tools,or the files required for creating such an installation. I would liketo include this installation as part of the setup for my ownSQL-dependant app. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
According to MS Knowledge Base Article 269824, "[SQL Server 2000 ClientTools] ... must be installed ... on any computer on which someone may makedesign changes in an Access project to a SQL Server 2000 database".This is the situation I'm facing. Can I download these Client Tools andinstall them for free, or are they only available on the SQL Server 2000Installation CD?Thanks for any help!
Hi there, When I try and install the client tools on my SQLServer 2005 SP2 installation I get the following message:
Failed to install and configure assemblies C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90NotificationServices9.0.242Binmicrosoft.sqlserver.notificationservices.dll in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087 Error message: Unknown error 0x80131501 Error description: The Transaction Manager is not available. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004D01
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the Client Tools, but I keep on getting the same message.
The option is on the column shortcut menu in the power pivot window. When I select it, the column is hidden. I've looked in the help file to see what else this option is suppose to do, but couldn't find anything. I searched this forum, but didn't see anything that the option does, except hide/unhide a column.
I have tried several times to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition on a cluster. SQL Server, SQL browser and SQL Agent installs ok but when the installer start to setup Books on line and client tools (BIDS) and SS Management Studio the installer stops and end the installation.
I get this error (from SQLSetup0021_WBOGSQL01_Core(Local).log)

Why does the installation process stop there and what can I do next?
I have to go back east.. I am going to be working remotely. We still used SQL Server 2000 at work.. Will I be able to use SQL Server 2005 Express edition to remotely connect to and modify stored procs and tables?
Ok, a while back, probably a year or so I started moving to MSDE. At the time a read posts on the Web that said you could use the client tools from the SQL Server Eval to manage MSDE. Great! I thought.
But more recently I get the impression that using those tools in not allowed. Can someone give me a diffinative answer.
I really want to stick with MSDE and am having a hard time convincing the boss to shell out $9,000+ for SQL Server on my dual processor web server. But I need DTS, Job Scheduling, etc...
Now my boss has wind of MySQL and knows that it's CHEAP.
If I can legally use the client tools with MSDE than I'm fine, if not I dread going to MySQL.
i was tried to install SQL Server 2k Client tools connectivity to my win 95, i was follow the installation procedure, 1). install common library updates for win 95, and then 2). install the server component (client connectivity tools), the installation is running well till copying "Microsoft Data Access Components - MDAC", i got error message : "Installation of the MDAC package failed (-1)". (so the installation doesn't complete).
please anybody help me, what's happen to my computer ?????????
I have an application that needs to execute dtsrun from a remotemachine. Basically I have a batch file on the remote box, whichhandles the execute. This works fine on a machine with client toolsinstalled. My problem is that I can't install the client tools on theremote box.Does anyone know what I need to install on the remote machine to getthis to execute, without installing the client tools? I've triedcopying dtsrun.exe and dtsrun.rll, but that didn't work

After eight minutes, the install bombs, and sends an error report to Microsoft.
I saw a similar post here, but these are XP machines and Administrators appear to have the proper permissions. I also do not get the error message "Error writing to file".

Does Service Pack 2 affect client tools? In other words, if you have a client machine with just the tools installed (management studio, BIDS, etc) do I need to run the SP2 package on this client as well?
HI I have recently installed a copy of SQL server 2005 on to a windows 2003 server. During the install I selected to install the client tools (management studio and all that) all seemed to install ok no errors but after the install there is no management studio in the start menu. I have tried uninstalling the client tools and reinstalling them again I have also tried to launch management studio by browsing to the SqlWb.exe but the program fails to initialise any ideas?
