DTS: Connection Properties Close The Enterprise Manager !

May 11, 1999

I designed a DTS package with eleven different connections. When I try to see the proberties of a connection the enterprise manager immediatly closes without giving me a warning. This happens only with two connections (in my example M1 and M2). This mistake has no influence to the execution of the package. In my opinion it is a fault of the DTS package desinger but may be that I made something wrong.
Is there anybody who knows this mistake? Thanks for your help.

Enterprise Manager Missing Close Window

Aug 2, 2002

Hi, all:

I insalled SQL 2000 server standard version on Windows 2000 server, then I applied SQL 2000 sp2 to it. Every step told me installation was successful.

Everything sounds working except following:

I lauch Enterprise manager, serverName / databaseName(ex. pubs) / Stored Procedure, then double click one of Stored Procedures, Stored Procedures properties window pop up. On the right top corner those three small buttons (minimize, resize and close) are missing. No way to close Stored Procedures properties window except using task manager to kill it. That drives me nut.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Hi there -

I am trying to look at TEMPDB properties in Enterprise Manager but it just hangs forever. I can look at props for all other databases on that server OK. The server is working OK but users reporting performance problems.

Also, how to increase the size of TEMPDB in T-SQL - I can see it is approx 200MB plus 300MB for the transaction log at the moment.

(Microsoft Windows 2003 Std Edition SP1, SQL Server 2000 Std Edition SP3)

Thanks for helping,

Integration Services :: SSIS - How To Use Variable In Connection Manager Properties

Aug 24, 2010

How to use variables in Connection Manager's properties? I see some replies through Configuration Package. But what if, it is still in development stage? I mean, can I use the Variable tab and create some variables like

User::DBUserNameSource, User::DBPasswordSource,
User::DBuserNameDestination, User::DBPasswordDestination,

Then put them in Password and UserName property of Connection Manager? If this is possible,  how and how can I set the values of those variables I mentioned when I am going to deploy the package in the Production?

Redefining Columns Isn't Possible With Flat File Connection Manager Editor Properties Already Fixed??

May 29, 2006

Dear fellows,

I know that I think as sql2k programmer-dba yet but I can€™t avoid.

I€™ve got Flat File Connection Manager Editor dragged with a text file as €˜ragged right€™ format and CRLF as header row limiter. When from properties page and Columns option I€™m going to alter just a few colums I am not be able.
It seems that you must erase all of them in order to define one or two. And in the case you€™d have 50????
When I ran sql2k DTS designer did that without problems, alter columns again and again.

As far as I know it€™s a lose of flexibility, or not? Or is there any way for do that without deleting nothing else?

Enterprise Manager/Server Connection Question

Jul 26, 2000

When I startup EM it automatically starts up the console
root which contains the server groups (and servers within
the groups).

How do I specify whether I want to connect to a server
as a trusted NT connection or connect using SQL server
login facilities?

I can right click the server (withing a server group) and
get a popup menu which says CONNECT or DISCONNECT
depending on the current connection state.

But I can not modify the CONNECT sub-menu item.

Instead of choosing the CONNECT or DISCONNECT I can
choose the PROPERTIES sub-menu and from there select
the SECURITY tab.

However the SECURITY tab shows that the circle for
"SQL Server and Windows NT" authentication as
being selected.

I am trying to find if it has the same capability as SQL
QUERY ANALYZER where you pick the method of login:

As an NT trusted connection or as a SQL Server login.

Thanks for any help, suggestions, etc.!!

SLOW Connection To SQL Server 2000 From Enterprise Manager

Sep 9, 2004

I have had a problem with Enterprise Manager connecting to SQL Server. At first this problem was experienced with one particular network user... whichever PC he logged onto, Enterprise Manager took ages to connect to SQL Server and every operation was painfully slow. Creating a new Windows NT logon fixed the problem.

I now have this same problem but only on my PC. It doesn't matter which Windows NT logon I use, using Enterprise Manager is painfully slow. I've tried creating a new Windows NT profile, checking the hard drive for errors, defragmenting the disk, reinstalling Enterprise Manager etc but nothing works.

What is strange is that connections from VB applications on my PC are fast. It is only Enterprise Manager that is slow.

I am using the latest service pack for SQL Server.

I thought it could be a problem with the Enterprise Manager registry values but don't want to start messing with them!

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any advice would be great as I can't find any help from microsoft other than installing the latest service pack for SQL Server.

Thanks

SQL 2012 :: Connection Properties Versus SSMS Server Properties

Mar 16, 2015

I have an ODBC connection string that is working fine with the following properties:

Database="XXXXXXX",Network="YYYYYY"; strangely no server is specified in the string, but it is specified in the ODBC Connection file.

I am trying to do a new server registration in SSMS for this database. However, I don't understand where the network spec is placed.

Under Registered server name I've tried:

YYYYYYXXXXX

When I browse the server for the database instance list, I receive "network path was not found".

I even tried:"XXXXXXX",Network="YYYYYY" for the registered server name.Same error message.

What am I doing wrong ?

Unable To Edit Pre-defined Flat File Connection Manager Properties In The Flat File Destination Editor

Aug 24, 2007

Hi,

I am testing SSIS and have created a Flat File Destination. I defined the Flat File Connection as New for the first time and it worked fine. Now, I would like to go back and modify the Flat File Connection in the Flat File Destination Editor, but it allows only to create a New connection rather allowing me to edit the existing one. For testing, I can go back and create a new connection, but if my connection had 50-100 columns then it would be an issue to re-create it from scratch.

Did someone else faced this issue?

Thanks,
AQ

Problems Running Enterprise Manager And Service Manager

Now I go and add/install theServer component and then Service Pack 3a.It seems that Service Manager won't start up (I get an hourglass cursor)and now I find that Enterprise Manager won't run as well. No errormessages appeared and I don't think I saw anything unusual inthe log file. However, I can use Enterprise Manager on a differentmachine and connect to the database (so the databaseitself seems to be running).Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how tofix it? I like to see if I can repair this without havingto do a reinstall.Thanks.PF

How To Close CN Connection To A SDF Db

Oct 14, 2007

Hello all,

I have a DB on my WM2005 device.
I'm using a program which connect to the DB using a CN.
On the constructor of the DB Class I use the line

static string connString = "Data Source='" + strDB + "'; LCID=1033; Password=" + strPass + "; Encrypt = FALSE;";
SqlCeConnection cn = new SqlCeConnection(connString);

Then I Open the Connection.
Now, in some ways I need to drop a Table.
Before I do so, I disconnect the DB but I'm using only the line

cn.Close();

I saw om the Watch attributes that its not a real disconnect to the DB.
When I try to Drop the Table I get this message:
The system timed out waiting for a lock. [ Session id = 25,Thread id = -2096711882,Process id = -2090594918,Table name = Movies,Conflict type = x lock (s blocks),Resource = DDL ]

And the Table doesn't drop.

Is it related to the constructor line I made?
What is the best solution to Drop a table..and then to get connected again with the DB.

Thanks in advance..

How Do You Close The Connection At The SQL Server?

Apr 19, 2008

How do you close the connection at the SQL Server? I have a backup I want to resotre to SQLExpress using SQL Management Studio Express. When I try, the SQL tells me he can't because the database is in use. I don't realy care about this I still want to restore the database. So I figured it's because there are some active connection to the database. My gues is I have to close those, but how? I also know I can restart SQLExpress and the connection will drop, but this server has more then one database, so I cant always do that. I'm looking for some T-SQL like DROP ALL CONNECTION.
Thanks for the help.

The Connection Type OLEDB Specified For Connection Manager Is Not Recognized As A Valid Connection Manager Type - Why?

Mar 17, 2008

Greetings,

I have an SSIS package that I need to modify. It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005. Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation. I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document." The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:

Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.

Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do? The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.

Thanks,
BCB

Content Manager Can't Access Rs Properties Page

Jan 12, 2007

Hi,

in one of our team projects users whom are members of the reporting services €œcontent manager€? role are not able to get onto the €œsql server€™s reporting services€? properties page of their team project. Instead of that page they receive the following error message:

The permissions granted to user '<UserName>' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)

With four eyes we double checked that the users really have the content manager role, we also tried all kinds of role combinations with no success.

The interesting thing is that as soon as they €˜only€™ in the Browser role they have access to that particular page €“ but as expected are unable to administer their team projects reporting services.

The reporting services forum doesn€™t really offer any answers to this problem, neither did goolge nor this forum.

Could anyone explain this behavior to me?

Pls let me know if you need additional information on this.

Thanks,
