I get this error when I execute a job calling a dts pkg. The package itself is fine and executes without any error.It's transferring around 400000 records. Shceduling the pkg gives the following error.
Can any body led a hand please?

I want to export to a Text File (destination) from a SQL query using a DTS DataPump Task. My query has 28 columns, some how when I try to define the destination columns for my text file the Microsoft Managment Console Crashes completely.
I tough may be my query has two many columns only to find out that it has one to many. If I ramove a column form my query, any column. I get no error at all.
żIs there a limit to a Text File destination connection?
I've spent quite a few hours on this one... I've successfully gotten tables to datapump between source and destination datbases, however... I get the following message when I hit a table with a blob field:
Step 2 failed, error: x80040E21, x80040000 + 3617 General error -2147217887 (80040E21). (Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Data Pump (80040e21): Cannot instantiate Storage Object for source column 6 ('description') Blob data. Your provider may require that all Blob columns be rightmost in the source result set.) (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (80040e21): Errors occurred)
I've written a VB com dll that does a simple datapump... but am stuck on this "Storage Object" instantiation thingy...
Any recommendations as to what I can put in my datapump object to allow just a simple xfer of blob types?
On my MS SQL Server 2000, I am trying to create a generic way to load tables into my datawarehouse.
I have as input to the process a large number of table definition(s) stored individually as files on my server. And, ascii delimited data files in various locations but mostly accessible via NFS mounts.
I created two DTS package in MSSQL2K that in theory represents what I want to do:
package1 ... invoke package2 with global variables to load a system of related tables
package2 ... check for a trigger file ... set the "Execute SQL Task" statement to my first file ... run the "Execute SQL Task" which drop/add's a table ... set a "Connection" to a data source file that I want to use ... run the transformation and, with that my package starts to fall apart ... set the "Execute SQL Task" statement to the next file, and ...... goback and execute it
I can't figure out how to set the table in the transformation section to the table I want to use. And, I assume next to have the transformations links between the source and new table relinked.
The source files contain in the first row the column names as found in the tables I just created.
Wether I'm trying to access a datapump task in an imported package in SSIS, or in 2000 enterprise manager
they crash once created. I can not alter or redo mappings or anything else. After enterprise manager churns for 5-10 min it crashes.
SSIS partially crashes: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. After this I can no longer click on anything and have to end task on Visual studio.
I can do a disconnected edit on the package in enterprise manager and alter the statement, but as far as I know you can't really change much as far as mappings back in there. This also means that my 2000 packages have been limited to 1 teradata pump per package.
This happened on my laptop, 2 coworker's desktops, and now that i've migrated to a new high end developer box it's happening on it also.
I'm using an SSIS under SQL 2005; i transfer data with a DataFlow Component:
DataSource = OLEDB Source;
Destination = OLEDB Destination
The source is a View returning about 100000 records; if i execute it in query analyser it takes few seconds. But if i use it as DataPump Source it takes HOURS to execute it...
I've noticed that If i modify the SELECT query inserting a "TOP 10000000000", it takes few seconds..
I am scripting a DTS Package using VB. The problem I am having is that I get the following error when I execute the package from Visual Basic:
Step Error Source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services Flat File Rowset Provider Step Error Description:Incomplete file format information - file cannot be opened.
In the DTS Designer when I open the DataPump Transformation and click on the Destination tab I am prompted With the Define Columns dialog. I define the columns and click execute. The package works properly after doing this when executed from Enterprise Manager. Does anyone know how to script the file definition creation??? I have searched high and low through BOL and other resources and am not finding anything. I doesn't seem like it should be this hard to figure out so, maybe I am missing something.
I receive the following error message when I try to use the Bulk Insert Task to load BCP data into a table:
Error: 0xC002F304 at Bulk Insert Task, Bulk Insert Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".The OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.The bulk load failed. The column is too long in the data file for row 1, column 4. Verify that the field terminator and row terminator are specified correctly.Bulk load data conversion error (overflow) for row 1, column 1 (rowno).".
Task failed: Bulk Insert Task
In SSMS I am able to issue the following command and the data loads into a TableName table with no error messages: BULK INSERT TableName FROM 'C:DataDbTableName.bcp' WITH (DATAFILETYPE='widenative');
What configuration is required for the Bulk Insert Task in SSIS to make the data load? BTW - the TableName.bcp file is bulk copy file as bcp widenative data type. The properties of the Bulk Insert Task are the following: DataFileType: DTSBulkInsert_DataFileType_WideNative RowTerminator: {CR}{LF}
Any help getting the bcp file to load would be appreciated. Let me know if you require any other information, thanks for all your help. Paul
I am trying to create a simple BI Application for SSIS. In Visual Studio 2005 I just get a Data Flow Task from the toolbar and add it to the project. When I double click it I get the following error:
The task with the name "Data Flow Task" and the creation name "DTS.Pipeline.1" is not registered for use on this computer.
Then when I try to delete it it gives this other error:
Cannot remove the specified item because it was not found in the specified Collection.
I am creating this application in an administrator account in this computer, so I doubt the problem is related to permissions. I am running SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in WinXP Tablet PC Edition.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how to fix it?
I'm trying to get a record count out of a databse using OLE DB Source and row count tasks but keep getting an error. I set up a variable as int32 and select the variable name in the row count task and when I go to the Input Columns tab to select a field to count, it gives me this error:
Error at Data Flow Task[Row Count[505]]: The component "Row Count" (505) has forbidden the requested use of the input column with lineage ID 32.
I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:
[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\gracehbtest oS2TMM_Live_Title_000002.xml' is denied.".
I cannot execute a package by using Execute Package task. I supplied sa credentials to connection manager, and it shows the list of Packages on SQL Server but when running the task it says
Error 0xC0202009 while preparing to load the package. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x%1!8.8X!.
I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ESDU releaselevel="2006-02" createdate="26 May 2006"><package id="1" title="_standard" shorttitle="_standard" filename="pk_stan" supplementdate="01/05/2005" supplementlevel="1"><abstract><![CDATA[This package contains the standard ESDU Series.]]></abstract>
There is only 1 ESDU root element and only 1 package element.
Of course, the XSLT stylesheet is also an XML document in its own right. I specify it directly in the XML Task:
Hi, I'm having an SSIS package which gives the following error when executed :
Error: 0xC002F210 at Create Linked Server, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "exec (?)" failed with the following error: "Syntax error or access violation". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.Task failed: Create Linked Server
The package has a single Execute SQL task with the properties listed below :
General Properties Result Set : None
ConnectionType : OLEDB Connection : Connected to a Local Database (DB1) SQLSourceType : Direct Input SQL Statement : exec(?) IsQueryStorePro : False BypassPrepare : False
Parameter Mapping Properties
variableName Direction DataType ParameterName
User::AddLinkSql Input Varchar 0
'AddLinkSql' is a global variable of package scope of type string with the value Exec sp_AddLinkedServer 'Srv1','','SQLOLEDB.1',@DataSrc='localhost',@catalog ='DB1'
When I try to execute the Query task, it fails with the above error. Also, the above the sql statement cannot be parsed and gives error "The query failed to parse. Syntax or access violation"
I would like to add that the above package was migrated from DTS, where it runs without any error, eventhough it gives the same parse error message.
I would appreciate if anybody can help me out of this issue by suggeting where the problem is.
hello I have a problem with Sql task when sql task tried to assing a value to my variable I have this error ""La valeur n'est pas comprise dans la plage attendue." I'm using ODBC connexion for a csv file
[Execute SQL Task] Error: An error occurred while assigning a value to variable "JDETimezone": "Unable to find column Timezone in the result set.".
i know what the problem is i.e. no row is returned then what is the problem
here you are.... i want to it work... strange... ok i explain...
actully i have some processign to do with variable JDETimezone even no row is returned.... can u tell me the alternative to do the follwing task...
I want to retrieve a record from some table and do some processing and if no row is present or returned then i want to do seperate processing.... can ne one help me out ?
OK. I give up and need help. Hopefully it's something minor ...
I have a dataflow which returns email addresses to a recordset.
I pass this recordset into a ForEachLoop configuring the enumerator as (Foreach ADO Enumerator). I also map the email address as a variable with index 0.
I then have a Execute SQL task which receives this email address as a varchar variable (parameter 0) which I then use in my SQL command to limit the rows returned. I have commented out the where clause and returned all rows regardless of email address to try to troubleshoot this problem. In either event, I then use a resultset to store the query result of type object and result name 0.
I then pass this resultset into a script variable to start parsing the sql rows returned as type object. ( I assume this is the correct way to do this from other prior posts ...).
The script appears to throw an exception at the following line. I assume it's because I'm either not passing in the values properly or the query doesn't return anything. However, I am certain the query works as it executes just fine at the command prompt.
My intent is to email the query results to each email address with the following type of data by passing the parsed data from the script to a send mail task. Email works fine and sends out messages but the content is empty. I pass the parsed data as string values to the messagesource and define the messagesourcetype as a variable in the mail task.
part number leadtime

Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
i set up a WMI Reader Task which works perfectly fine.
But when i Use WMI event watcher i get this error.
if the problem is with access rights how do i need to set or how can i figure out if i have rights..
[WMI Event Watcher Task] Error: Watching for the Wql query caused the following system exception: "Invalid class". Check the query for errors or WMI connection for access rights/permissions.
I am using SQL Server 2005 - CTP June 2005 and I am trying to create a simple FTP task. Currently, my package consists of one FTP Task object in the Control Flow tab. I create a new FTP Connection Manager using <New Connection> in the FtpConnection property and verify the connection by selecting the "Test Connection" button. So far so good. However, when I return to the designer a red X appears in the FTP Task object with the following error:
I created a FTP Task to connect to an external FTP Server and download files nightly. I can connect using the FTP Connection Manager but when I execute the task, it says "[FTP Task] Error: Unable to connect to FTP server using "FTP Connection Manager". Any ideas?
I have an odd problem with the parameters in a SQL task.
I created a DTS package with an SQL task that uses a parameter marker in the WHERE cause. The value comes from a Global Var. The package runs fine but when I try to access the parameter mapping page I get this:
Syntax Error or Access Violation Error
Anybody know what to do about this? It's not very efficient to have to rebuild the task every time I need to add a parameter.
Is there any way to suppress the whole package from failing when a file is not found while doing an FTP get (other then setting the MaxErrorCount higher)?
My situation is that I know what a file is named but the file may not exist yet on the server. So, I use an FTP task to do a Get on that file. If the file does not exist then the FTP Task increments the error count even if I force the ExecutionResult and/or ExecutionValue.
This wouldn't be a very big deal but I am looping to getting and processing multiple files. It's acceptable that the file does not exist, but I want to be able to have the package actually error in other places. So far, the only thing I can do to stop the package from failing is setting the MaximumErrorCount for the Loop and the Package which isn't going to cut it.
I am hoping there is away around this without having to use a 3rd party FTP Task.
Hi, I'm using Script task in my control flow. It show the following error
"Validation error. Script : The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE in Script Task Editor by clicking Design Script button to cause binary code to be generated."
Hi all, After applying the SP2 for Korean - we are getting the following error in the above task. Transfer Fact Data From StagingDB to Presentation DB: Insert Update MetricFact [1021]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "'OPTIMIZE' ??? ??? ???????.". Not sure what the problem is. The same task was running properly before applying the SP2. For other language SP2 (on other languages) the same task runs correctly and without any error.
When i run the Execute SQL Task i get the following error:
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "exec dbo.myProc " failed with the following error: "End tag 'ROOT' does not match the start tag 'LagArtNr'. ". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Sicne the XML is valid I have no idea why the task fails... I have read this link... http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=619288&SiteID=1 ... where using FOR XML RAW should do it, but it doesn´t help me
I have a For Loop Container which has Execute SQL Task. The following SQL is not working in it.
Input Parameters: Batch_ID, Class_ID both of type long in the parameter mapping dialog.
The result set is of type 'One Row' and direction is input
Result set is: NextBatchID------>User::MinBatch_ID of type int
NextClassID------->User::MinClass_ID of type int
The query is giving very generic error
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "" failed with the following error: "Syntax error, permission violation, or other nonspecific error". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Code Snippet
DECLARE @ClassID int DECLARE @BatchID int SET @BatchID = ? SET @ClassID = ? SELECT MAX(T.Batch_ID) AS NextBatch_ID, MAX(T.Class_ID) AS NextClass_ID FROM (Select TOP (10) BD.Batch_ID, BD.Class_ID, ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY Batch_ID, Class_ID)AS RowNum From dbo.Batch_Data As BD WHERE (BD.Batch_ID > @BatchID) OR (BD.Batch_ID = @BatchID AND BD.Class > @ClassID) ORDER BY Batch_ID, Class_ID) T WHERE T.RowNum = 10
When I hardcode values the query works. With parameters it fails.
Have you ever gotten an error when copying a task in the designer? I can't copy a task. That's going to be a pain for developing big packages. I have already uninstalled BIDS and installed Visual Studio and still get the error. Any thoughts on what could I could remove and reinstall to get a working environment? Would removing VS and SQL 2005 and all its components work? I ran some of the CTP cleanup tools (ttool and msiinv) and they reported no problems and no beta software

I posted here the same question in the VS Installation and Setup forum http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=26&SiteID=1, but I think this forum may be more on target.
I get the following error when trying to execute an sql statement in oracle and returning the results into an object variable with the execute sql task.
Error: 0xC002F210 at Execute SQL Task, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "select <columnlist> from <tablename>" failed with the following error: "The SelectCommand property has not been initialized before calling 'Fill'.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
It executes fine if I select no results or first row but I can't get full result set to work. The query and connection string are valid. Any ideas?
