lately I had the following message on win2000 sp4 with sqlserver2000 sp3a: "DTS Designer Error - Specified file not found".
Then in the DTS editor the Task menu objects are missing and it is not possible to link a source and a target using Transform Data Task.
Before it used to work fine.
I have done the following:
- installing again last sp: same issue again
- reinstalling sqserver with a registry deep cleaning: same issue again
- started disabled windows services: same issue again
any idea?

Could it be possible that a lately installed fix for Win2K interferes with DTS-Designer?
I am trying to add aggregations to the partitions of my cube.
For that, I am using the Aggregation Designer, In which I choose MOLAP partitions with "Performance gain reaches 80%". Next I run the calculation. But the designer found only 78 aggregations and stop at 20% (496 Kb) !
My configuration is SSAS 2005 SP2, x64. Except this problem, everything is allright. Dimension attributes are all aggregatable.
Have you any idea of what can cause such a problem ? Thanks in advance.
I renamed a database table, and then try to create a view with that table. However, the renamed table does not appear in view designer. I have to close and re-open SQL Server Management studio 2014.
I was requested to build and move and existing SSIS package from the developers local PC to the Dev server. Both are running SQL 2K5, I built the following command file so SQL Agent can run the import job.

My questions is how do I fix this and is this really and error?
I've got a package which reads a text file into a table and updates another. I set up configurations so that I could import it into the SSIS store on both my dev and live servers. Now, I'm getting this error. I tried removing the configs and am still getting it.
I've been through each step and everything looks okay. Does anyone have any idea (a) what's wrong, (b) how to localise the error or (c) get any additional information? Or do I just have to recreate the package from scratch?

I have a package and added a configuration file to it to hold settings such as connection strings etc.
When I open the package up in the designer and check where the configuration file is from, it likes to specify it with a full path like this:
\myserverprojectspackageslah.xml
Where blah.xml is the configuration file and the package file is in the same exact directory.
This creates an issue when I use build and then try to install the package on a server. When installing, the server tries to read the config from \myserverprojectspackageslah.xml which it can not.
Conversely I've tried editing the location in the designer changing it to just be "blah.xml". Then after using the build option I am able to install the package successfully on the server (it can not find the xml file).
However when I then load the package later in the designer to try to edit or chagne it, the designer complains that the "configuration file could not be loaded" and it can't find it even though it is in the same directory that the package definition file is in.
I have got an XP machine where I have installed a SQL Server for mytesting.I recently started working on a vb.net project requiring MSDE. Afterexecuting the Setup, made using Install Shield, including theinstallation of an instance of MSDE I can't start the Query Analyzer onmy "normal" SQL server or any instance, I am having a message saying"the specified file can not be found". Hello everybody! I've already posted this question before but this error never been resolved. My DTS designer is totally screwed. When trying to create new local package getting error message "Could not create Component Categories Manager". I can't even use DTS to copy data in using DTS wizard. Somebody recommended to reinstall SQL Server which I did but it didn't solve my problem.
When using Enterprise Mgr on a workstation connected to a MSSQL Server, if I attempt to start a new DTS Package, I get the following msg: Title: DTS Designer Error Text : Could not create Component Categories Manager
I get the same msg when trying to edit an existing package. I tried to re-register Dtspkg.dll,Dtsui.dll, and dtsffile.dll. All were successful but Dtspkg.dll, which failed. Does anyone know what causes this, and what else I can try?
I have recently installed a new server for a client running SBS2003 R2 with SQLServer 2005.
I noted that the backup failed the SQL Server database on the consistenty check. On checking the event log I see this message as per above.

This is a new server with about 90% of disk space NTFS still available
i am new to SSIS. I need to know can i make the excel source connection to redirect to a different excel file if the file i am looking is not available. i am using parameters to identify the excel files with the current date. if the file with that date is not found, i need to take excel file with the previous date to load the data.

Hi,I keep getting this error message for a trans.log backup.Operating system error112(error not found).The disk has about 6GB space free, and the backup should only take upabout 550 MB, so I would think it is not space related but...The disk is NTFS.Any ideas?
Hi. I am stuck with error: An error occurred while receiving data: '64(error not found)'. My Service Broker configuration: Server A initiator, Server B target. Server A sends message to Server B, Server B sends back reply. On this stage I receive problem. Server B message does not come to server A. It stays on sys.transmission_queue on server B. This problem occurs only during initial setup. During initial setup, on Server B messages, queues, services, contracts, routes, bindings are created. On Server A: routes and bindings. As a last step, a message is sent to Server B. So, reply on this message never comes. Initial setup is run using procedure with execute as €˜owner€™, owner=€™dbo€™. But, whenever I send messages after that, everything works fine.
I have set up SB between 2 databases, and I keep geting a variety of error messages in the queue on both sides. The first is: An error occurred while receiving data: '10054(error not found)'.
And on the other side its Service Broker received an error message on this conversation. Service Broker will not transmit the message; it will be held until the application ends the conversation.
The only difference between this and the tutorials is that the TCP port have been moved to 4321 instead of 4022, and this has been done both sides, because something else was blocking the 4022 port. This one is definately free on both sides. I have recreated the certificates, the users, the end points, the queues and the services multiple times, and checked them all in the sys.routes etc and they all seem fine.
I do also get a message in the queue that I can receive sometimes that tells me I don't have rights to the service on the other machine. I can send a message to itself and it doesn't complain.
Both machines are on the same domain, and I have also tried to grant rights to public to no avail.
Hello! Yesterday my DTS designer was fine and today suddenly when I open the package in designer there is nothing there. I tried to create new package and it gave me an error when I was trying to save it "It is insufficient disk space to complete operation".
I am testing SQL Server 2000 and after having installed it on a machine with SQL 7 already on it everything went OK.
However, if I try to create a DTS package (or open and existing one) on either of my SQL Server instances I get a "DTS Designer Error". After which, the DTS package window opens but I can't see any of the tasks in the tool bar. I can't select any tasks from the Task option in the menu bar either.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've got SQL Server 7.0 SP1 installed (in a NT4 SP6 environment).
Recently, it came up with error whenever I try to open a table or a view (return all rows) inside the Enterprise Manager. The descriptive (NOT!) error message is like this:
"The query cannot be executed because some files are either missing or not registered", and on pressing "help", the help files report "Query Designer cannot locate your query files and cannot run your query"
I have tried re-booting the machine and upgrading mmc.exe to version 1.2 (from 1.1), but both in vain.
Checked out BOL on this issue, but not enough info received to troubleshoot. Hoping someone out there has some input.
This issue is only happening on the server side not the client. Also, it suddenly appeared on three different machines.
Query Designer: "An unexpected error happened during this operation" [Query} - Query Designer encountered a Query error: Unspecified error.
The how: In a database, go to tables and select a table known to have data right click on mouse and select Open Table, return all rows. This is when the error appears.
BOL states the the file may be corrupt or from a non-supported version of SQL Server EM. Nothing was installed on these servers and we're still on SP2. This error just all of a sudden appeared and spread to 3 different machines...
Another issue is the Return to Top function is disabled. This function provides the maximum number of rows to fetch.
When I try to Return All Records in a table, I receive the error "Query Designer encountered a query error: unspecified error." I can successfully view the design of the table just not the records themselves. This is happening in all of my tables in all dbases.
I have never seen this error before... When I click on DTS to either open an existing package or create a new one I get the following errors: Error in the DLL, DTS Design Error. When I try to create a new DTS it gives me the errors but still opens but I'm missing all of the connection objects except for MS data link and other connection. I had no problems designing and executing the packages from a development box. I'm not even refering to the typical scheduling problems that exist when SQL Agent is configured incorrectly!

We are using Service Broker to synchronise two databases using async triggers (using a middle server to preform data mapping processing). We are re-using dialogs as we want to ensure order when sending messages which contain the data to be synced. A dialog is created between each intiator and target service (there are 3 of each) which is kept open indefinately (we are only ending conversation upon receiving an end conversation message or error message).
We seem to get it working for a period then after about 1 hour it seems to stop sending and we see the following error in SQL Profiler:
An error occurred while receiving data: '64(error not found)'
Any ideas what could be causing this? We do not see any errors or end conversations. It seems to happen at irregular points.
