Can't Create A Setup Project For Project Referencing Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS
Feb 3, 2007I have a very small project written in VB.Net 2005 using the SQL Server 2005 SSiS DTSx package.
I took a SQL Server 2000 dts package and using the SQL Server 3005 legacy tools migrated it so I could still use the package withing SQL 2005 until I can build one using BI/SSIS.
Anyway,I added the reference Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS so I could then use the Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime so I can execute the commands:
Dim oApp As New Application
Dim oPkg As New Package
oPkg = oApp.LoadPackage(g_DTSx_Directory & "AOC copy Generic1 CSV to AOC_verify_file_1.dtsx", Nothing)
Dim oResults As DTSExecResult
oResults = oPkg.Execute
Ok. That works fine. Executes without a hitch. So now I try and create a setup project for this and I use the setup wizard.
During the creation of the setup project I get a message that states:
The following files may have dependencies that cannot be determined automatically. Please confirm that all dependencies have been added to the project.
C:windowssystem32msxml6.dll
OK. The dll is part of the reference I mentioned above and I have no idea what other dependencies it may have.
How do I find this out?
Has anyone else created a project like this and experenced the same?
I am on a clean build running WinXP Pro with SP2 - VS2005 with SP1 and the SQL Server 2005 tools.

Microsoft Exel Doesn't Show Up As A Data Source In The Import/export Wizard
Oct 12, 2007I am trying to import an Excel file into SQL Server 2005 using the SSIS import/export wizard; however, Microsoft Excel doesn't show up in the list of the data sources. I am assuming that something else must be install from either Microsoft Office or SQL Server 2005. I am using Microsoft Office 2003 on a Window XP machine. Does anyone know what I need to do to correct this.

Use Report Server Project To Connect To Report Model Project Data Source View?

I've created a Report Model Project that can be used by Report Builder to generate ad-hoc reports. I'm trying to create a connection string in my Report Server Project that points to the Report Model Project data source view.
All I can do is create a regular datasource, which bypasses the metadata contained in the Data Source View.
Basically I want my Report Server Project and my Report Builder reports to leverage the same metadata. Is this possible? If so how do I get the connection string?

Import CSV To Microsoft Server 2014 Wizard
Nov 19, 2015I have a very simple (but big) CSV file and I want to import it to my database in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (Database/Tasks/Import Data). But I receive the following error:The conversion returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data".Here is a sample of my CSV file (containing ~ 9 million rows):

1393010,301242,'20150414 15:46:58'
Ideally my first and second columns are bigint and the third is datetime. In the wizard, I choose 'unsigned 8 byte integer' for first two and 'timestamp' for the third and I receive the error. Even I try to use string for all three columns as data type and still I receive the same error.I also tried using bcp command in command line. It errs nothing and inserts nothing! Also using "bulk insert" command errs me that: "the column is too long! verify your terminators", but they are correctly fixed!

SQL Server Import And Export Wizard Fails To Import Data From A View To A Table
Feb 25, 2008A view named "Viw_Labour_Cost_By_Service_Order_No" has been created and can be run successfully on the server.
I want to import the data which draws from the view to a table using SQL Server Import and Export Wizard.
However, when I run the wizard on the server, it gives me the following error message and stop on the step Setting Source Connection

Import From MS Project?
Oct 10, 2007When I run the Import Data Wizard there is a selection for a MS Project datasource, but when I choose this datasource nothing happens and there is no way to complete the import. I'd really like to be able to schedule import jobs from MS Project, but I can't find any way to do it.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
I have MS Project installed on my client machine, does it need to be installed on the server in order for the proper ODBC configuration to files to be present and work?

Oct 21, 2006Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but was as close as I could get. I am an amateur stumbling thru this to "learn by doing". I am trying to set up an access front end for a SQLExpress database, currently all local for experimenting. Trying to import Excel data to a table in the database, using Access "get external data" function. I get errors and the data wont import. Error message won't give me a clue to what is wrong. All fields are named the same. If I convert the excel to a csv or tab delineated, it imports correctly. Just not the excel. Any ideas?

Team Project In TFS - SSIS Project Sets Itself As The Startup Project

For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.
I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1.

Jun 18, 2004I want to connect to company's SQL Server from home and to connect to home's SQL server from company remotely.
The new released SQL Server Web Data Administrator by Microsoft seems solving my issue.
I use it to connect to different SQL servers in different domains company wide successfully, but I failed to connect to home from company( I have static IP on the home server).
Also I want to know how to configure the sever name if I want to connect to company's SQL Server from home. The company SQL server is inside the firewall with a internal IP. How it works?

How To Optimize Data Import With Huge Volumes And Joins Across Data Sources Not All SQL Server Based?
Jun 7, 2006I need to periodically import a (HUGE) table of data from an external data source (not SQL Server) into SQL Server, with the following scenarios:
Some of the records in the external data source may not exist in SQL.Some of the records in the external data source may have a different value at different imports, but this records are identified univocally by the same primary key in the external datasource and in SQL Server.Some of the records in the external data source may be the same in SQL.
Due to the massive volume of the import, I would like to import only the records which are different from what I have in SQL Server (cases 1 and 2 above). In fact case 2 is the most critical.
I thought of making a query with a left outer join between the data in the external data source table (SOURCE) and the data in the SQL Server table (DESTIN). The join is done on the respective primary keys (composed keys of up to 10 columns) and one of the WHERE conditions will be that the value in SOURCE is different from the value in DESTIN.
The result of this query would be exactly what I need to import.
How to do this in SSIS??? I couldn't figure out how to join tables in different data sources yet.
In fact I cannot write a stored procedure to do that, since one of the sources is in a datasources not SQL Server.
I have seen the Lookup transformation in this article http://www.sqlis.com/default.aspx?311 but this is not exacltly what I want to do.
Another possibility is to use the merge join, but due to the sorting I believe its performances would be terrible!

I'm trying to install Microsoft Dynamics 10.0 with SQL 2008 Dev but when launching the utilities this returns the following error message:

I created a user-defined datatype in Microsoft SQL server using the Enterprise Manager. But, I am not able to find options to edit this data type. There are options to delete but not for editing an existing user defined data type.
Can any one help me how to edit this user defined datatype ?
Also, are there any better ways to create and manage user defined data types in MS SQL ?
