Data Set Dissapears After Script Component

Hi, I need to concatenate two values in a column from different rows and jwelch send me a link where I could read about it (http://agilebi.com/cs/blogs/jwelch/archive/2007/09/14/dynamically-pivoting-rows-to-columns.aspx)
The problem is that I have a big set of data and I use only two columns in the script component and finally I write all the columns into a flat file. After the script component, only the outputs that I specified in it are available for my flat file.
So the question is: how can I have all my columns available for the flat file after a script component? Only the outputs that I specify inside of it are available after running the script?

Dear Forum Members.
I am currently using Visual Studio 2005: Business Intelligence Development Studio to create an Integration Services Package.
The package contains several containers, within each container there is a €˜foreach loop container€™ and within the €˜foreach loop container€™ there is a script component, execute component and another script component.
Each of the three components is connected together by single connectors.
My issue arises when I disable a container and then enable the container; the connectors between the components disappear (e.g. are not visible) but do exist as I can not create another connector between the components. When I attempt to create the connector again between the components I receive the error message. This tells me the connectors are present but not visible.

Can someone kindly explain why this is happening and how to resolve this issue?

I have a network of all win2000 machines. The server is win2000 and is a domain controller running sql 2000. I've been having intermittent problems with our software staying connected to sql and found that installing the sql client networking package fixes it. The problem I'm having is that users with admin rights work just fine, but users with just user rights aren't. I set up client neworking by moving named pipes above tcp and setting the alias to the sql server but the user machines doesn't remember the alias.
Here's a list of what I've tried:
log in as admin and enter alias
create .reg file of proper registry settings and import but got a key is in use error, cannot import registry
created shortcut to cmd and set shortcut to run as diff user, log in as admin, run .reg file, imports fine, alias still missing in user computer.
Any ideas what might make the alias not stick? The users cannot install software and there might be some other security setting or restriction keeping it from sticking but I have yet to find it.

Hello,
I have a package that has a data lfow task. this task imports data from a db2 database (using the IBM Ole DB provider fro db2) and adds it to sql server database table. This package was created on the server. then though version control (using TFS source control) I check out the package on my local machine. and when I open the package I get the foll 3 errors.
Error 1 Validation error. Import Account Num from BMGP_BDR: DTS.Pipeline: The component metadata for "component "DataReader Source" (1113)" could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.
Error 2 Error loading BMAG Download Xref Tables - bmag.dtsx: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ComponentVersionMismatchException: The version of component "DataReader Source" (1113) is not compatible with this version of the DataFlow. [[The version or pipeline version or both for the specified component is higher than the current version. Hi,
I have a package which reads an Access file from a folder. My connection manager to this file is .NET providers for OledbMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
Package works from my computer. But when I execute it on the server as a SQL Agent job, I get

I copied the mdb file to a folder on the server which my packages have no problem reading data from.
My packages run under the same domain account as defined in proxies.
Appreciate a help.

In a Data Flow, I have the necessity to use a SSIS variable of type €œObject€? inside Script Component and assign to it the content of 'n' variables of string type.
On exiting from the script the variable of type object should contain something like in the following lines:

Hi all
I'm into a project which uses a lot of views for joining 2 or more tables. Using the MERGE component in SSIS will be a huge effort coz it only has 2 inputs and I gotta SORT the input too.
Isnt it possible to have a VIEW like component that joins more than 2 tables and DOESNT need sorting??
(I've thought about creating views in database engine but it breaks my data floe in SSIS and is'nt a practical solution)

I am writing a custom dataflow transformation component and I need to get the name of the preceeding component.
I have been trying to find a way to get a reference to the Package object, MainPipe object or IDTSPath90 object (connecting to the IDTSInput90 of my component) from my component because I think from there I can get to the information I want.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can anyone tell me which Data Type should I use to convert string into integer.

I have a int value that I pulled from a table in a database and it is stored in a variable. I would like to increment this value in a script component and then insert it into a field in my ole db destination. Is there any example out there of using a script component to do something similar to this.
Do I want to select source, destination or transformation?
Can I/how do I access my variable from within the script component.
Any asistance or examples you can point me towards would be greatly appreciated.

There is a table with a column that contains Xml documents. For each record from my Data Flow Source, I want to pass in the Xml document and the node to interrogate, and return the value contained in the node. Like the Crm component, this is probably one I will have to write from scratch in C#, but I would like to avoid having to create the custom component if it already exists in the public arena.
Does anyone know of any Xml Ssis Data Flow Components that are downloadable for free?

No idea where this bug crept in from. Have been using SSIS for 1.5 years now without hitting this problem.
I had a script component opening an XML document and parsing it using XPATH. I added some code that uses StreamReader / Streamwriter (closing one stream before starting the other). The code works without issue in my C# app.
And it ran without issue 2-3 times in SSIS. Then suddenly after running my package again, the script component says it completes successfully, yet nothing happens. I set a breakpoint on the first line of code - it never hits it. I add a msgbox as the first line of code - and it never displays.
I then close my package / exit out of ssis ... and then re-open it. When i open my script component, all of my code is GONE. All references that I added are gone.
I tried adding the streamreader/writer process to a dll I created from my c# app ... and added the DLL to the package -- same result.
I can reproduce this on 2 different computers.
Anyone experience this problem ? Any idea how to stop it ? Or debug it ?

I have created a package which simply imports data from a flat file to a SQL Server table. But I need to incorporate a data conversion component by which I may change the source-destination column mapping programmatically. So what I thought that I need to add a data conversion component into the dataflow task. After adding this component (I found its component id as {C3BF62C8-7C5C-4F85-83C3-E0B6F6BE267C}) I have created a path which establishes the mapping between output columns of source component and the input columns of data conversion component. I am looking for some advice regarding saving custom component data when saving packages.
For custom "properties", this is not an issue, as saving the package will save these properties. Howver, I also have information for each column (besides the properties that columns provides, like Name and DataType) that I need to save if a package were to be saved, and right now it does not save because I am using my own objects to store the data.
I am wondering as to how I can save this information. I have looked up on serialization, but I would like to know if there is another way besides serialization to save this inforamtion as I'd rather not save this to a seperate file.

Is there a default destination component used when a new data flow is created? The reason I ask is simply curiosity. I have an xml file with 2 pieces of data: item A and item B. A should simply get copied out of the file. B should undergo a quick transform. I set up an XML source such that two columns are mapped correctly to the XML source data of A and B. I set up my data transform task as well. So, if I leave those two components on the .dtsx page with no other components, then will there be a default data flow destination already created? ...OR, do you always have to have a destination component?

I have a package variable that I set via an ExecuteSQL task. I want to reference it in a data flow script component. In the Script component I enter the variable into the ReadOnlyVariables collection, then in the script I reference it as Me.Variables.var. (E.G. counter = Me.Variables.var)
I'm getting errors when the data flow starts:
Error: 0xC0047062 at Provider, Set Surrogate Key [4261]: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ReadWriteVariablesNotAvailableException: The collection of variables locked for read and write access is not available outside of PostExecute.
I have no problem referencing other variables that I have in DerivedColumn transformations. I've tried putting the variable in the ReadWriteVariables collection but I get the same error. I don't understand why this is so difficult. Please help.

I've read the various posts and articles regarding this matter, but I seem to have problems getting to work:
In my control flow, I start by declaring a variable named "LastJobLedgerEntryID", to identify the records I need to add to the stage. From there I would like to use this variable in the source component in my dataflow, i.e.:
"SELECT [Entry No_],[Job No_],[Posting Date],[Document No_],[Type],[No_],[Description],[Quantity],[Direct Unit Cost],[Unit Cost],[Unit Price],[Chargeable],[Job Posting Group],[Global Dimension 1 Code],[Global Dimension 2 Code],[Work Type Code] FROM mytable WHERE [Entry No_] > " + @[User::LastJobLedgerEntryID]
But this fails? I should note that the variable LastJobLedgerEntryID is stored as a int32, and with the default value of 0
Could someone please help me with this?

I'm wondering if it is possible to create a flat file source on the fly while bypassing the following step:
On the Connection Managers page, add or create the Flat File connection manager, using a descriptive name such as MyFlatFileSrcConnectionManager. Then close the Script Transformation Editor.
I want to create the connection totally in script, yet i'm having a hard time proving this out...does anybody have any
experience with this?

I've written a script component that essentially uses a connection manager to connect to a database and executes a stored proc to return a retail price for a product sold in a store. This works fine with small volumes of data. (50 or so executes) When I use larger volumes of data (4500 executes, eventually will be 2.5 million) I get connection pooling errors as follows:-
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
This I can fix on the 4500 data volumes by setting the connection pool to 10000.
My question is... is this the correct way to fix the error, or is there an underlying problem that needs to be sorted? My script code is as follows.

Hello-
I have an SSIS package which I've been using for nearly a year now. Basically the package is responsible for looping through a directory, and importing pipe delimited files into a database.
The issue I'm having is with the UnDoubleError data flow component. I've been using it to remove the qualifiers from the data being imported, in this case it happens to be double-quotes. ex: { " " } I have found that the component will insert a single double-quote { " } when it finds a null string, or two consecutive qualifiers for that matter. If there are two qualifiers with a space seperating them, then it will insert an empty string, or rather a string with one space in it, and the qualifiers will be removed.
The dilemma is since the log files have some columns which are technically NULL, by that I mean columns where there exists only two qualifiers ex: { "" } the UnDoubleError component then inserts a single double-quote. I want to retain the NULL value if it exists, though still use the component to remove the qualifiers when there actually is data there.
Any suggestions?

I am trying to do this. Basically, if the field I am checking contains a space - not an empty string - I want to assign it an empty string so it will get converted to NULL when it hits the SQL destination. The space character from the source is causing the rows to fail I want to force a NULLin the database as a "workaround" from something I am working on.
I thought I had this set up correctly, but it is not working. I have the field in question as an input field set to ReadWrite

I have two (almost) same sets of tables on two servers, call them Source and Destination.
What needs to be done is that the data in the tables on Source has to be transferred to the same (corresponding) tables on Destination. The unfortunate thing is that in some of the tables on Source some columns are Unicode and in the corresponding tables on Destination the same columns are non-Unicode. Since the data kept in the tables is always ASCII there is no need to have a distinction.
Remark: No, I can't delete the Destination tables and recreate them with the Unicode settings.
Now, I know there is a task that can convert between encodings. But 1. there are MANY tables, 2. there are MANY columns in them and 3. I do not know which columns are Unicode and which are not. I would have to examine all the tables which would take A LOT OF time.
A question arises: Is it possible to write a script component that would take a row, examine the columns for SSIS data types (not VB.NET types) and change the piece of data's type in the colum from Unicode to non-Unicode? I am not sure I've stated this properly but hopefully you get the idea.
If you think this is impossible, please give me an alternative solution (if able), excluding - of course - the conversion task.

Hi,
I have 56 fields coming into the input of an script component, The need for script component was to just to check if one of those 56 columns has a valid date or not, If valid it will parse and put in an output date column, if not, it will put in NULL.
The 55 fields should be passed on. I dont really wanna write code and define output columns. How do I do this ?

If I use the example from SQL Server BOL (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms135917.aspx), and make a new package for the sample in the same project, the sample works. The only thing that I can see that is significantly different between my code and the sample is that my DataReaderDestination has a lot more data in it, but here's the relevant code:

Hi
After having read the forums I understand that it is not possible to use parameters in the "Ole Db Command", when connecting to Oracle.
What I have to do, is to delete a record in an Oracle table from within the "Data Flow", based on parameters.
It does not seem to be possible to create the SQL statement in a variable (with parameters generated) and use the variable in the "Ole Db Command"
Instead I probably need to use the "Script Component"?
So what I need is step by step guidance for how to connect to and interact with an Oracle database from a Script Component, what to import and where, what to declare and where, and generally a way to get this to work.
Any help appreciated.
