SSIS And Hyperion ESSBASE ...

Can SSIS connect and pull data from an OLAP database hosted by Hyperion's Essbase V 6.X or V7.X? We have a manual process of pulling in stuff and would like to replace this with an automated process. Appreciate any help.

My company is looking to implement a dashboard solution for Hyperion Essbase 7.1.2. The inclination is towards using Micrsofts BI for doing the same. However we are in admist of deciding on which MS BI products(SSAS or SSRS or SSIS) supports the Essbase 7.1.2 version in terms of connectivity and performance. I know SSRS supports Hyperion system 9BI+ but not sure about the backward compatibility.I would greatly appreciate if GURUS could shed some light into this.

Refreshing Data In Hyperion Essbase Cubes

Hi all,

Normally I would be using SSAS but our finance department make use of Hyperion Essbase. I was wondering whether it was possible to upload data into an Essbase cube using SSIS in the same way that you can use the Analysis Services processing task? I realise there are no specific task for Essbase, but are there any suggestions about what would be the best way of going about this?

Retrieving Tree Sub Nodes

I have a tree structured table like the ff.

which looks like the one below in tree view.

I'd like to get the rows under a specified elementnumber which may have unlimited sub-nodes.

i.e. If i want only 'Level1' i would get results from row 2-5.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Counting Child Nodes In Hierachy

Hi,
I have a SQL statement that returns a hierachy

it returns ..

-NEWSPAPER
-QUALS
- TIMES
- TELEGRAPH
-MIDS
- DAILY MAIL
- EXPRESS
- EVENING STANDARD
- POPS
- THE SUN

I want the statement to include childnumber column so for newspaper it would count the total number of children below it, so in the above example newspaper would be 9 and for the mids it would equal 3? and pops = 1. does anyone know how i can do this in SQL?

SQL XML :: How To Iterate Through Repeating Identical Child Nodes

I am working with a pretty complicated medical XML document and I am trying to query out lab information. The problem I am having is that there are many repeating child nodes and I can’t seem to get all the info I need without creating a bunch of columns. Here is a snippet of the XML; In attempting to shorten it up I may have left some elements unclosed but I hope not create table

I can grab all the lab names alright but I am tiring to also grab the lab components as well. A lab could have just one component or it could have a dozen and I will never know ahead of time how many there are.

The following query works ok but would like to be able to grab all the components for a given lab in one column instead of making several columns incrementing the singleton each time. Is there a way that I can iterate through without creating a bunch of columns?

If all of the fields in the database has values, everything works ok. However, if the title, location or description fields have a null value, I receive the following error message:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.String'.
I've tried a bunch of different things such as:

Adding ".ToString" to the database field,
Seeing if the value is null: If sw_calendar(0).description = system.DBnull.value...
...but either I get syntax errors in the code, or if the syntax is ok, I still get the above error message.
Can anyone help me with the code required to trap the null within the code example I've provided? I'm sure there are other, and better, ways to code this, but for now I'd really like to get it working as is, and then optimize the code once the application is working (...can you tell I have a tight deadline )

I am trying to create datasource to OLAP cube to generate model. Here is what I am doing

First I configured IIS to make HTTP connction analysis services,

From management studion I am able to connection analysis services using following connction

I am able to see my cubes and also AdventureWork cubes.

After above step,

From Reporting Service Home page

select NEW DATASOURCE
given name and selected CONECTION TYPE = Microsoft SQL SERVER Analysis Services

After apply this change, when i press generate model buttion getting error msg.

I'm trying to create report with datasource as a cube. I'm able to connect to datasource to pull data with a single parameter. But, I'm unable to succeed in creating a cascading parameter.
The following scenario:
I have a dimension "Period" as Paremeter.
The Period dimension is cascaded to year- quarter- month.
So, I would like to create a cascading parameter for period as year - quarter - month.

Please let me know, how to acheive this.

Entities Disappear From Report Builder Explorer When Datasource Is A Cube

I have scoured the internet looking for someone who has run into this issue with no such luck!
Product: Reporting Services 2005 Analysis Services 2005

Our users use Report Builder as an ad-hoc report tool. Data sources for Report Builder come from Report Servers and Analysis Servers.

I have run into issues where a user will select a source for their report that is based on an AS cube. When they select an attribute (field) from a selected entity in the Report Builder Explorer and drop it on the canvas, all entities except the one the field was selected from disappear.

For example:

A cube has a fact table called "Annual Income" with dimension of employee and demographics. In Report Builder, the entities would be listed in the left hand Report Builder Explorer window as

Annual Income
Employee
Demographics

If I select attributes from Employee or Annual Income, as usual, you will see the related hierarchies of the remaining entities. However, if I select an attribute from Demographics, then the Annual Income and Employee entities just disappear and all I can see is the Demographics entity and its attributes.

Has anyone run into this and if so, any ideas? This is becoming extremely frustrating. I have deleted and rebuild cubes, individual dimensions, and everything else I can think of.

Visual Studio Hangs When Generating A Reporting Services Report With Cube As The Datasource

When creating a report using reporting Services with a cube as a datasource, visual studio 2005 hangs. I have applied SP1 to visual studio.net 2005 .

Retrieving An Image From SQL, Test For Null

I have an employee directory application that displays employees in a gridview. When a record is selected, a new page opens and displays all info about the employee, including their photo. I have the code working that displays the photos, however, when no photo is present an exception is thrown that "Unable to cast object of type System.DbNull to System.Byte[]". I'm not sure how to test for no photo before trying to write it out.

Question in review today is Creating a Report showing the FName, LName of all Employees not Specified in a region; I would assume "No Value to be Null" Correct?

Or is there another way for me to do this?

NULL Values In Cube Dimension

I have a fact table with a simple integer lookup key into a basic dimension table. However, some of the fact lookup key fields are NULL. I would like the Analaysis Services reports to show this NULL category. Instead, Analysis Services discards any NULL entries and the records are completely absent from the reports. What is the best way to achieve this?

If I will see H1 Value then it show =350

But when my head office is not exists for a customer but Child is exist i want to see data of child Aggregate value.

Example

for Customer ID-102
NO --H1 it is null
----c1 c sales Value -200
---c2 c Sales Value-50

When I want to see value of 102 at H1 leval it show me 250 . even H1 is null.

I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:

[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\gracehbtest oS2TMM_Live_Title_000002.xml' is denied.".

Where do I change the security settings?

I cannot execute a package by using Execute Package task.
I supplied sa credentials to connection manager, and it shows the list of Packages on SQL Server but when running the task it says

Error 0xC0202009 while preparing to load the package. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x%1!8.8X!.

Any clue ?

We have reports deployed in the Report Server. While connecting from client, we are getting the error
"An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. rsInternal Error)"

Then we went to Report Server, Reporting Service and SQL Server service are all are running fine.

Important thing is some time the reports are working fine, sometimes i am receiving this error. Please help.

We predict whether the services are automatically restarted or transaction logs exceeding the limit or any other parameters to set to avaoid this error?

I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:

[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".

The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:

Error When Using XML Nodes As Cross Apply

It works just fine in SQL Query.After placing this into a view in SSDT November 2012 update, I get a compilation error.

Subscription Error : Failure Sending Mail: An Error Has Occurred During Report Processing

Hello,

On the development server, I am trying to work with subscriptions . Report Server is windows authenticated.

When no paramters exist for the report, the sucbscription is successful.
But if there are paramters for the report, email delivery fails.

These are not data driven subscriptions.

Did anyone face the same problem ? Can anyone tell me where to start debugging since logfiles just say failure to send the email.

I have created an RDL file programatically. When I execute the code I get the error as mentioned below:

Error: Sub report cannot be shown.
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError)

When I copy and paste the code of RDL file into new RDL file and try to preview the output I get correct result.
Note: The new RDL file does not give any error if the output is seen using preview tab but it gives the error only when executed from report viewer or from internet explorer.

Any Suggestion/feedback is highly appreciated.

Error Occurred While Executing Batch / Internal Connection Fatal Error

Got this error running a query with ssms2014
on SqlServer2014
but db has Compatibiliy level 100 (sql2008)

no sql error code in message and no error found in eventviewr (sqlserver log, windows log, application log ecc)when i run that query i got this message in "messages" tab, and in results tab i got a strange result, indeed the value returned doesn't exists in table.

ex table1.field1 possible values= 2,3
it returns 1113344

we got that error thru jdbc too...that query use a lot of joins, unfortunatley i can't post it here. today got this error, so i make a copy of 1 of involved table into another db in the same instance, re run the query on the original db, and it works well.
