Database 4 Cannot Be Autostarted During Server Shutdown Or Startup. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 904)
May 5, 2008
Hi,
I'm from Argentina, I'm running SQL Server 2005 Express. I can connect to SQL Server via Management Studio and see all my db but I don't have acces to them !!
The system gives me the following error when trying to expand all folders:
Database 4 cannot be autostarted during server shutdown or startup. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 904)
database : MS SQL server ver 6.50.201 problem: server startup / server time out details SQL server shows usage of 100 % CPU utilization, if started automatically / manually. and does not proceed / hangs up(server time out), but win nt operates extremely slow.
The background of the situation in brief is as stated below. The errorlog was found to have the messages warning : OPEN OBJECTS parameter may be too low. Attempt was made to free up descriptors in localdes() Run sp_configure to increase parameter value.
Error : 644, severity : 21, state; state 1 the non clustered leaf row entry for page 2 row 1 was not found in index page 40 indexid 2 database 'tempdb'
Error : 2620 severity 21 state 3 the offset of the row number at offset 32 does not match the entry in the offset table of the follwoing page : page pointer = 0x1395800, page no= 40, status = 0x2, objectid = 1, indexid = 2
Action taken I used the sp_option to increase the open objects from default 500 to 1000, and the LE threshold maximum value to 400 from the default 200. after which I used reconfigure go and restarted the computer to take the effect. The following did work fine and server was working ok. But then from yesterday I am having the problem that the MS SQL sever is utilizing the cpu to 98 - 99 % and I am not able to connect to the server. I tried to start the server with the minimal configuration by specifying the -f option in the service manager start up options, it showed the following message 00/12/07 10:40:49.73 ods Unable to connect. The maximum number of '5' configured user connections are already connected. System Administrator can configure to a higher value with sp_configure. 00/12/07 10:40:50.02 ods Unable to connect. The maximum number of '5' configured user connections are already connected. System Administrator can configure to a higher value with sp_configure.
afterwhich I tried with the option of starting the sql server with the option -c -f which in the event detail of the win nt shows "mesg 18109: Recovery dbid 6 ckpt(55813,8) oldest tras= (55813,0)"
The open procedure for service "MSSQLServer" in DLL "SQLCTR60.DLL" has taken longer than the established wait time to complete. The wait time in milliseconds is shown in the data. DB-LIBRARY error - SQL Server connection timed out.
The dbid is / was 6 for both the instances, the database which is having this dbid is database name "AM" and is having above 1300 tables (approx) what could be the problem and solution for it? kindly help me out of this situation.

SQL Server 2005 X64 Standard running on Windows Server 2003 X64 Htper Threaded Quad processors with 16 GB RAM.
I have had two production servers shut down this week due to Error 3449: SQL Server must shut down in order to recover a database (database ID 1). The database is either a user database that could not be shut down or a system database. Restart SQL Server. If the database fails to recover after another startup, repair or restore the database.
Previous to the shutdown I received multiple Error 3314 & 602: Could not find an entry for table or index with partition ID 491897996509184 in database 2. This error can occur if a stored procedure references a dropped table, or metadata is corrupted. Drop and re-create the stored procedure, or execute DBCC CHECKDB.
Also, Error 9001: During undoing of a logged operation in database 'msdb', an error occurred at log record ID (838:208:1). Typically, the specific failure is logged previously as an error in the Windows Event Log service. Restore the database or file from a backup, or repair the database.
Does anyone have an idea why I have begun receiving these error messages? I have run dbcc checkdb on Master and msdb and they do not show any problems.
Hi,My SQL Server 2005 won't start - can anyone provide some help? Thisseems to be the most significant error:- TDSSNIClient initialization failed with error 0x5, status code 0x51.There was some info here, but the reg key described looks okay:- http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/I am running SQL Server 2005 64-bit Standard Edition. The server inquestion is the first node of an Active/Active Cluster. This firststarted happening while I was trying to add a share as a clusteredresource of the other node (not to this node's resources).I have not yet reinstalled SQL Server 2005 because I am hoping for moreexplanation of the problem and a possible fix. Thanks,Tom
In VS 2005, when we choose database connection, we can choose one of the above. My question is in what situations should we choose MS SQL Server Database File (SqlClient), and when should we choose Microsoft SQL Server?
I want to deploy a standalone desktop application with a backend database. Which backend database should I should and which of the above connection should I choose?
When launching Microsfot SQL Server Management Studio Express, I get a Popup Error box (!) without any text. After pressing the OK button, everything seems to work fine. Any ideas as to what it's trying to tell me?
On localhost this application works fine but when I put on remote server. I am getting following errors. For both localhost and server, I am using same remote sql 2000. I will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Arif

is there a way to find out that SQL Server 2005 (Express) engine is performing startup checked of a selected database?
The problem we are faced to is that our users shutdown brutally their laptops running their database. When they start laptops again, they impatiently start the application that tries to connect to the database. However, they get an error message:
Cannot open database XXXXX requested by the login. The login failed.
When they try after a minute or two, it works.
What we would like to do is provide an information message that the SQL server is checking the database and that they must wait for a while. Is there is a specific error code for this, can anyone help? We are using .NET 2.0.
I am trying to create a linked server between 2 SQL Server 2005 boxes. When I create the linked server I specify a login for the connection. The strange part is that I get the following error when it goes to test the connection:
The test connection to the linked server failed Login failed for user 'Domainuser'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)
I can use the SQL mangement studio to conenct to the database using this same login. The login has all the server roles assigned to it also.
Can anyone shed some light as to what may be the problem?
Dear all,On Win2000 server with SP3, I am trying to access a SQL Server 7.0database, "TestDB", from VB6 via a SQL Server ODBC system DSN using ADO2.7. In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, there is a login named "Tester".In its property window, NO "Server Roles" was assigned but its"Database Access" was set to "TestDB". This login was also made as theuser of "TestDB" with "public", "db_datareader" and "db_datawriter"selected as its "Database role membership". All the tables I am tryingto access in "TestDB" were created under "Tester".My code is like:Set conn = New ADODB.Connectionconn.Open "DSN=TestDSN;UID=Tester;PWD=test"Set cmd = New ADODB.Commandcmd.ActiveConnection = conncmd.CommandText = SQLset rs = cmd.Execute()If I set the SQL to something like "SELECT * FROM tbl_test", I alwaysget an error of "-2147217865" saying "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL ServerDriver][SQL Server] Invalid object name tbl_test". If I set the SQL to"SELECT * FROM Tester.tbl_test", everything runs properly. Could anyoneplease kindly advise why the first SQL is not working? Or in otherwords, why must I prefix the table name with its owner while the DBconnection is already made under that owner name? Thanks in advance.Tracy
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. I am trying to connect to a remote sql server 2005. So I have install the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. When I try to connect I get the error below.

I have a question about opening files in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio.
In the old Query Analyzer from SQL 2000 I can open SQL Files via drag & drop (from explorer to QA) or open it with a double click in the explorer. Then the Files opened, if I had actual a connection to a server / database (QA is stared with one file and has a connection to Server/Datebase), with this connection.
Now in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio I'll be asked everytime for Server and have to get the database from the database list - it does not connect automaticly to server/database, that is actual connected (I have opened a file with the connection and a connected database in the object explorer).
Someone do not have this problem - but we found no option to set it up.
What is the right procedure for shutdown a production web sqlserver for maintenace purpose. Checking users by sp_who? Any other monitoring for current connections? lockings?
I am just trying to find a good article on the process SQL goes through when shutting down and starting up, so far I have not found anything definitive on Google. I am assuming a checkpoint is invoked and committed transactions are written to disk, while uncommitted are rolled back, but I would like an official textual description of what happens.
Currently i am using SQL server 2005. Since the begining i am facing sqlserver service shutdown problem. Normally it happens in every 2-3 days and sometimes happens twice a day. It halts all the banking operation. After starting MSSQL SERVER service, the system goes online.
Following is the error message recorded in the event viewer. --------------- SQL Server is terminating because of fatal exception c0000005. This error may be caused by an unhandled Win32 or C++ exception, or by an access violation encountered during exception handling. Check the SQL error log for any related stack dumps or messages. This exception forces SQL Server to shutdown. To recover from this error, restart the server (unless SQLAgent is configured to auto restart). ---------------
Please tell me what steps i should take to resolve it.
I have a problem with an instance of SQL Server that refuses torespond to a shutdown request. I've managed to shutdown the SQLManager and DTC services but the sqlservr.exe process is permanentlyin a "Stopping" state.I cannot logon to the instance to issue a SHUTDOWN WITH NOWAITcommand. Short of rebooting the entire server, is there a way I canforce the process to end?Tony
I have SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition with a number of in-memory tables sitting in my database. When server is restarted it takes many hours to recover my database if there was data in these in-memory tables before shutdown. As a result, I need to clean up in-memory tables every time before server instance shutdown. This is really annoying and requires extra prescriptive actions for support team. Can I have DDL server/database level trigger to catch shutdown event and clean my data before instance goes down?
I have Configured always on Availability groups between Server 1 Primary Replica(Active), server 2 Secondary Replica(Passive) on top of WCFS...
Listener Name: AGListner( CLIENTS/APPLICATIONS connect using this Name)
Testing Scenario 1(on Virtual Servers):
I have turned network down on Server 1(primary) , then secondary server (Passive ) one came ONLINE and this is now the primary and i was able to connect to AGListner.now When i try to SHUTDOWN/POWER OFF PRIMARY(current Active server),failover happened to Secondary successfully but lost cluster and lost AGListner and was not able to connect ....now applications which are trying to connect using AGListenr name will loose all connections..does AlwaysOn Availability does not support Server SHUTDOWN/POWER OFF?or is there a way to resolve this? or am i doing wrong somewhere?
- Have server1 and server2 - The job has 3 steps: Â + Step1: check server1 is running, next step2 Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Server1 is shutdown or can not ping, next step3 Â +Â Step2: do anything, for Example: run batch exe on server1 Â +Â Step3: do anything, for Example: run batch exe on server2
Step1, i am using ping server1 command,
My problem is if server1 is shutdown, my command (ping server1) is also return true
and in the fact, job is run by follow Step1 -> Step2.
Expectation the job is run by follow step1 -> Step3

"Failed to copy objects from Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft SQL Server "
I keep getting this when trying to copy stored procs from one db to another on the same server. I am using the DTS wizard. I have been able to copy the tables but I need the sp's too, and there are too many to copy one at a time.
