Database Connection On My WebSite ,I Published On Internet.
Nov 9, 2007
I create a WebSite onto the internet.
Then I created a database with MSSQLmanager provided by the WebHosting.
I created a Table and put some data in it.
When I try to access the DataBase an Error says: "Connection cannot be opened. On default settings you cannot access a Database Remotely."
What shall I do to configure my Database.
basically I don't know where to go to change configuration of my Database.
In my intranet I would use SQLServerSuraceArea.
But on Internet I do not know.
someone Help.
Did I miss something ?
Hi all, I am stuck with a problem using ASP.Net website. I created a website which accesses a database table in SQL Server 2005. The default.aspx is a form which inserts/updates/deletes data from the database. After creating the website I published it to IIS (Inetpub -> wwwroot). When I use Visual Studio 2005 and build the website and start with debugging. the form comes up and i can insert/update or delete the data from the table as I want. Now, as I have the website published I can access the form from another sharepoint website using the url as /Employee_Data/Default.aspx">http://<mydesktop>/Employee_Data/Default.aspx the form shows up but I am not able to access any of the database. I do not see any errors either. Once I click on the button the page just refreshes but nothing else happens. I have my web.config as :- <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <appSettings/> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <compilation debug="true"/> <authentication mode="Windows"/> </system.web> </configuration>
Am I missing something? I even have Anonymous access in the IIS inetpub properties. I can even the database as I am the administrator..... I appreciate your suggestions.

I am creating a website. where the data to be stored in my server. I had my webspace from some service provider. How can i connect the website and thee database. --> website is deployed at webspace given by the provider. --> database is at my server( located in our office).

I'm working on a ASP.NET project. The applications has 4-layers. When I look in the Data Access Layer and test the typed dataset, then the "Preview Data" works fine. I see the right records from SQL Server 2005.
But when I run the app (default.aspx) in debug-mode, then the system gives the following error:
"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
Can someone please tell me how to retrieve/query the list of fields from an entity of a report data model that has been published on the reporting server programmatically ?
I am trying to upload a report data model to the reporting server and planning to use that model as the data source and consume it through our existing web application?
I am trying to upload a database (MS SQL 7) from my machine to a remote location (host company). This company has MS SQL Server 7 running in its machine, so they told me that all I had to do was to connect from my SQL Enterprise Manager. I am new to MS SQL, so I would appreciate if someone can help me to create a connection from Enterprise Manager to this remote SQL Server.
it works when in debug mode, but after i depoly it to my XP's IIS, it can not login the database, the error message is :
Cannot Login to the default user database. Login Failed. Login Failed for user xxxASPNET
'xxx' is my computer.
i think this problem is cause of improper setting of security, but i really do not know how to set it in this situation, because the database is attached to the db system dynamically.
When using the Rda Pull/Push methods I need to have an Internet connection. I'm using VS2005 with VB to build my application. What commands can I use to check for and force or establish an internet connection from my pda?
I have been working with Visual Studio 2005 and the Personal Web Site Starter Kit. All is well and working. My problem is that after the database is updated (as in uploading photos and album creation) and the original web site is edited and republished, the web site database is overwritten and all the work is lost. What is the proceedure to either copy the web database to the development site on my computer so updates will not be lost, or a method of publishing that will not loose the up to date content on the web server? I would much prefer to be able to copy the database to my development computer as adding tables to the database is something that needs to be done. Any help on this would be appreciated.
I am nearing the end of creating my Windows App for work. So I tried to publish it, that was fine until I ran the app, from the same PC as I use to develop, with the same login etc. However when I use the published app I can't connect, to the database, return to VS2005 and run my app from within there and no problems. It is SQLEXPRESS (SQL Server 2005), but I have checked the settings there are correct (I assume VS wouldn't connect otherwise).
Server (Win2003) and my PC (Win2K) are on the same domain
Using TCP/IP
I can't see how to enable JiT debugging despite the 'help' at the end of this error details... See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I want to set up merge replication over internet between sql servers located in different cities. Servers have adsl connection. Also I want to start replication witout synchronizing. Open session failure for user [my web server name]ASPNET
For information I have done/try all the following (and probably more; don€™t remember as I am stuck on this since nearly 2 weeks now ) without success:
- changing the SQL Server surface area exposition to remote connections for TCP/IP, named pipes and both (in fact even when the exposition is set to local I still have the same error€¦)
- adding a [my web server name]ASPNET account with dbo/sysadmin rights with SQL Server Management Studio Express, as well as other special accounts (IUSR and IWAM)
- manually attaching database under SQL Server Management Studio Express and mapping the above accounts to it (and of course modifying the ConnectionString settings in the web.config file accordingly)
- same thing with those 3 accounts but this time for folder and subfolders with full control rights
- publishing my web application with both Publish Site and Copy Site options from VS 2005 (which seem to do exactly the same thing). I am using the Remote site connection option (the one where you need to enter the IP address of the web site and have FrontPage extensions installed on it)
- and all other stuff as mentioned in an earlier post on this matter (http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ShowPost.aspx?postid=505487&isthread=false&siteid=1&authhash=7399dc0a380f8452fd1aa40f4b530be62a7a8e70&ticks=632868985326044888)
I can give any complementary information such as error stack trace or web.config file if needed to help me.
For information, I have an older web application running (perfectly) on this server. This one was done with VS 2002/framework 1.0/SQL Server 7.0 database and is now running with framework 1.1/SQL Server 2005 Express on the server. I thought at first that application would be the one to give me headaches as the database was from an older version of SQL Server but I simply attached the .mdf file under SQL Server Management Studio Express and all worked perfectly and immediately€¦
I am not too bad in development but I must confess I am quite a noob as Windows/IIS/SQL server/network administrator so I really need a help on this as I am stuck since nearly 2 weeks and I think I won€™t have many hair left on my head if I don€™t find quickly a solution to that problem.
Thanks in advance. DreamingBear (in fact NightmareBear would actually sounds better )
Is it possible to connect to a sql server express over internet or not ?
- I am using a win2003 sp1 server. Freshly installed. - The server is directly connected to internet. - For the purpose of the test, I stopped the windows firewall and the IPSec service. - I stopped SQL server Browser service. - I find a free port (here : 1401) - I activated TCP/IP protocol in SQL Server Configuration Manager, and I have selected 1401 as the TCP port in the IPAll sextion of TCP/IP protection (and I remove the '0' of the dynamic TCP Port). - Restarted SQL server express...
In the sql server log, I get the message "Serveur Server is listening on [ 'any' <ipv4> 1401]"
But I never get an answer from the server.
sqlcmd -S ip_of_the_server, 1401 -U username -P password is working fine if launched on the server. But I always get a timeout error from any PC. Same with a telnet on port 1401.
Im having some problems setting up sql server so that i can connect to it in my vb program over the internet.
Im using windows xp pro and have IIS installed and using sql server 2005 express SP2.
My setup is as follows:
from phonecable to router, from router to wireless access point and the wireless connects to my computer.
I have tried disabling the xp firewall, and in the sql server configurationi have set the port to 11001, which i have also opened in my router.
There should be a connection to the computer, cause i have succesfully set up an FTP server on a different port.
I have also enabled remote connections, both via TCP/IP and named pipes.
I have tried to use telnet on my IP adress with the port 11001, and it says that i cant create a connection..Are there other settings i should set to get this to work? This has been bugging me for a little while...
I am working in a secured company which doesn't allow live internet connection, therefore I can't install SSDT using Web Platform Installer and we also don't want to install the intire 2012 client tools.

Have I got the connection string wrong or do I need to set up additional permissions in the database?

I have 2 instances of SQL-Server 2000 running on my computer. I connected to them through SQLServer enterprice Manager. Now I want to connect to a Database that is stored on my WebHosting-Site [on INTERNET] The Server-IP address is 65.22.42.57.etc.......... WHILE I can connect to That Database from Visual-Studio server-Explorer..........I cannot connect to that server from SQLServer-EnterpriceManager. It says 'You need to use SQLServer 2005 tool'. But there is no Connect-word to create a connection in 'SQLServer 2005'-Manager.'
I was wondering if any body has used Internet as a WAN (Wide AreaNetwork) to provide database access. I know about web services but Ilike to experiment with using Internet as a extended network (webserver behind one router and database behind another). Any ideas onwhere to look for this? Thanks
Hi all, There is a sql express database .mdf file which I can access locally through local web pages using windows authentication and integrated security = true. Now I want to publish this db and the web pages to my hoster's server so as to access the db from internet. The connection string currently is in the web config as below:<add name="NORTHWNDConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|NORTHWND.MDF;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> The database is currently located in the App_Data folder. Please give me some step by step solution to configure the db to access from internet. Thanks a lot in advance.
I have been building ASP, ASP.NET and Crystal Reports on SQL serverfor a few years now.I have build them mostly on an Intranet or with companies that havetheir own web servers.I now need to build an application for a company that doesn't not havea web server. Just a small shop that wants an internet application. How do I build an database application when the site will be host byan ISP? The database will be SQL Server 2000, but located locally. The site will be maintained by the ISP? Hi, I've spend quite a bit of time on this but no luck. so any help is really appreciated.
I'm writing a class library dll that would pull data from a central db to offsite comps, manipulated then updated it back to the central db, much like systems salemen would use. Please keep in mind that i'm talk about LARGE amount of data. I want downloaded data to be manipulated on the client computer(without direction connection to db server) with EXCEL or something of the likes then upload changes back to the central DB.
Is there anything in SQL Integration Services that would help me? please keep in mind that data are distributed to computers over the internet, not on the same LAN. Please be as specific as possible
i'd really appreciate any help you guys can provide, thanks.
I almost finish my website and ready to upload it to internet. However, I have a thought of how the database will work.
Here's the scenario. My website is a data-driven dynamic website with SQL as the database manager. I have 3 database files.
After I finish with everything, I will have to deploy the application to the webserver right? Now, let say I deploy / upload it to a hosting company. Then, people start using my website, all traffic coming in, and database are getting larger and larger. Then, let say I decide to make some changes to my website. I change the website here and there. However, I haven't uploaded / deployed it to the hosting server yet. I just make the changes in my computer. I test the application and changes that I make, everything works fine.
My question is: If I deploy / upload my website to the SAME hosting company after I make some changes, what will happen to the database in the hosting server? My website has been used my many users and database is getting larger. If I deploy ./ upload the website that I have made changes, will it overwrite the database in the hosting server? Or how does this work?
Anybody has any idea or maybe has already done it?
My database contains over 50 tables of information - some tables are quite large. Rather than upload the entire database (which I imagine could potentially lock out many users from browsing the website), I would like to upload changes to individual tables. My local database contains the most recent table information. What would be the best way to upload individual tables that would only lock one row at a time while the updates were taking place? A DTS package?
