Database Is Not Valid To Be Included In...

Jan 28, 2008

Hi folks

I've just set up a maintenance plan that backs up all user databases daily and logs hourly. I've just noticed that the plan history is giving the following error -

Database 'BizTalkEDIDb' is not valid to be included in the maintenance plan.

Has anyone seen this before or know how to resolve it?

New Database Not Included In Back Up Database Task

Aug 10, 2007

I'm having a problem with a Maintenance Plan created for SQL Server 2005 using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. See version information at the bottom of this post.

I have a Maintenance Plan using the "Back Up Database Task" that is set to perform a "Full" back up of "All Databases" on the local server. However, it appears that the list of "All databases" are hard-coded to be those databases that were available at the time the task was created. It seems any newly created databases don't appear to be in the list. If I attempt to edit the task and select the "These databases:" option, the newly created databases aren't even in the list.

Is there some way to have the task refresh the list of the databases available for backup? Ideally, I'd like any newly created databases to get backed up automatically without having to modify the task.

Thanks for your help,

Jonathan.

Attaching A Valid Database Fails Because Of Old Mdf-files

Sep 3, 2007

I have a database that consists of 4 files (1 MDF, 2 NDF's and 1 LDF-file). I can confirm that by running:

select name from sys.database_files

The result is:
Adam_Data
Adam_Log
Adam_FullText
Adam_History

About a year ago this database had 3 more NDF-files, but we moved all the objects that were stored in these secondary datafiles to the other datafiles and removed them completely from the database. This operation worked correctly otherwise the sys.database_files view would have returned more files I assume.

Everything works perfectly with this database until I try to detach and reattach it. If I detach this database and immediately try to attach it again on the same server using Sql Server Management Studio it wants me to attach 7 database files! The 4 database files that are still being used by this database (which is perfectly valid), but it also wants me to attach the 3 old database files which obviously don't exist anymore and that aren't even reported by the sys.database_files view. Is there anything I can do to make sure that an attach of this database will work again? How can I completely remove these old database files?

Michael

Getting An Error SQL Mobile Encontered A Problem When Openeing The Database; The Path Is Not Valid

Mar 3, 2006

I am using VS 2005, SQL 2005, SQL Mobile

The development environment & the SQL Box are two different boxes.

I am trying to create a simple application where I want to synchronize data between Pocket PC application's ( Emulator) local database(SQL Mobile) to SQL 2005 Database. I have tried the steps outlined in the following link

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171908(SQL.90).aspx

Once I have completed all the steps as per the steps in the above link, I have copied the .sdf file to an another machine where I have the development environment. I have created a device application in VS 2005 and created a datasource poiting to the file (.sdf) copied locally.

Then I have added the following code
string filename = @"e:VelsunMobileTest.sdf";

public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
}

private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DeleteDB();
Sync();

if (VelsunMobileTestDataSetUtil.DesignerUtil.IsRunTime())
{
// TODO: Delete this line of code to remove the default AutoFill for 'velsunMobileTestDataSet.Customers'.
this.customersTableAdapter.Fill(this.velsunMobileTestDataSet.Customers);
}

}

private void DeleteDB()
{
if (System.IO.File.Exists(filename))
{
System.IO.File.Delete(filename);
}
}

private void Sync()
{
SqlCeReplication repl = new SqlCeReplication();

repl.InternetUrl =
@"http://currdev1/VelsunMobileTest/sqlcesa30.dll";
repl.Publisher = @"currdev1xx";
repl.PublisherDatabase = @"VelsunMobileTest";
repl.PublisherSecurityMode = SecurityType.NTAuthentication;
repl.Publication = @"VelsunMobileTest";
repl.Subscriber = @"VelsunMobileTest";
repl.SubscriberConnectionString = @"Data Source=""e:VelsunMobileTest.sdf"";
Max Database Size=128;Default Lock Escalation =100;";

try
{
repl.AddSubscription(AddOption.ExistingDatabase);
repl.Synchronize();
}
catch (SqlCeException e)
{
MessageBox.Show(e.ToString());
}
}

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

SQL 2012 :: Transaction Log Shipping Secondary Error - Tuf Is Not A Valid Undo File For Database

Jun 18, 2015

I received an alert from one of my two secondary servers (all servers are running 2012 SP1):

File 'E:SQLMS SQL ServerMSSQL11.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATAMyDatabaseName_DateTime.tuf' is not a valid undo file for database 'MyDatabaseName (database ID 8). Verify the file path, and specify the correct file.

The detail in the job step shows this additional information:

*** Error: Could not apply log backup file 'MyDatabaseName_DateTime.trn' to secondary database 'MyDatabaseName'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) ***

*** Error: Table error: Page (0:0). Test (m_headerVersion == HEADER_7_0) failed. Values are 0 and 1.

Table error: Page (0:0). Test ((m_type >= DATA_PAGE && m_type <= UNDOFILE_HEADER_PAGE) || (m_type == UNKNOWN_PAGE && level == BASIC_HEADER)) failed. Values are 0 and 0.

Table error: Page (0:0). Test (m_freeData >= PageHeaderOverhead () && m_freeData <= (UINT)PAGESIZE - m_slotCnt * sizeof (Slot)) failed. Values are 0 and 8192.
Starting a few minutes later, the Agent Job named LSRestore_MyServerName_MyDatabaseName fails every time it runs. The generated log backup, copy, and restore jobs run every 15 minutes.

I fixed the immediate problem by running a copy-only full backup on the primary, deleting the database on the secondary and restoring the new backup on the secondary with NORECOVERY. The restore job now succeeds and all seems fine. The secondaries only exists for DR purposes - no one runs reports against them or uses them at all. I had a similar problem last weekend on a different database that is also replicated between the same servers. I've been here for over a year, and these are the first instances of this problem that I've seen. However, I've now seen it twice in a week on the same server.

How Many Included Index Columns Is Too Many?

Oct 4, 2007

I'm using sys.dm_db_missing_index_details to find missing indexes on a database that is currently in testing. After running a bunch of our reports, there are several suggested indexes on 3 or 4 columns that have 15 - 20 included columns. The included columns are mostly varchars ranging from 1 to 150 characters along with a couple of date columns. My index size on that table is already nearly twice the size of the data.

I don't think it's a good idea to add an index with that many columns, but the information I've read on included columns is very general. I'm wondering if there is something about them that I don't understand that would make this a good idea.

After Restoring MASTER Database, Can't Start SQLServer Service: Configuration Block Version 0 Is Not A Valid Version Number

Jul 16, 2007

Now, I checked and verified that my backup version of SQL Server is the same as the version installed on the computer I'm restoring too.

I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.

Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:

Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.

I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

SQL 2005 Mobile : The File Is Not A Valid Database File

Jun 8, 2006

I used SQl Server replication to create a new database (as I did using Visual Studio 2003) but when I go the Pocket PC and click on the file I get a native error 25011 with a description

The file is not a valid database file
An Internal error has occurred[,,,Databasename,,]
Interface defining error: IID_IDBInitialize

When I check on my Pocket PC what programs are available I've got Query Analyser 3.0 and SQLCE Query. It appears that the .sdf file is associated with SQLCE Query because when I use that to try and connect to the same database I get the same error.

If I use Query Analyser 3.0 (after having copied the .sdf file) to the temp directory I'm able to open the database.

There is a similar post to this one but it doesn't help me.

Is it that SQLCE Query is wrongly associated with the .sdf file?

If so how do I change that?

Or is there some other problem preventing me clicking on the .sdf db to open it?

I have recreated my project in Visual Studio 2005 and rebuilt all my components in 2005. There are some external ones that I use that I can't do this for.

The following is the build output that I get when I deploy to a clean PDA with a hard reset performed

Why Is The DtsConfig File Not Included In Build?

Dec 27, 2007

I use an XML configuration file for my SSIS package, and I have "Enable package configurations" checked. When I build the package, however, there is no dtsConfig file in the output (set to in) or the Deployment folder, and the config file is not included in the SSISDeploymentManifest file. There are no build errors or warnings.

This was working fine the last time I worked on this package (~9 months ago), but not now. I have since installed SP2, but can't confirm if the problem is related to a "fix" in SP2.

MSDE Included As Part Of ASP.NET Deployment Package?

Nov 17, 2003

I need to design an asp.net application w/ and MSDE backend database that will be deployed at 50 different location (unrelated to each other). The application's deployment package needs to be downloaded from a web site on the internet. The end user locations do not have SQL2000 or MSDE...some have access.

I want to know if my deployment package can include the MSDE software? Or, can anyone offer ideas on the EASIEST way for these small offices to get MSDE installed on each of their servers so that my ASP.NET applications will connect to via ado.net.

Thanks for any ideas.

SQL 2012 :: Included Columns In Non-clustered Index

May 8, 2014

I am trying to tune a process that is running slowly. I analyzed the process using the Database Engine Tuning Advisor, and it recommended the creation of 3 indexes, all non-clustered:

1) ColA, include ColB
2) ColA, include ColC
3) ColA, include ColD

So... I created a single non-clustered index on:

4) ColA, include ColB, ColC, ColD

That should do the same thing, right? A look at my execution plan shows that the index I created is being scanned -- 3 times. What is puzzling me, though, is that the Database Engine Tuning Advisor is still recommending I create these 3 separate indexes, even with the index (4) that I created in existence.

If it matters, ColA, ColB, ColC and ColD are all int FKs.

SSIS Execution Issue - Error Msg Included

Aug 9, 2007

Having a little bit of trouble understanding this...

If I log on the server with my windows account, I'm able to execute the package without a problem, now, if I execute the job, which is owned by the agent (TakkaraSQL), the job fails.
I thought it could be related to file/share permissions, but it's not and the package is failing at the validation stage.

Any ideas?

Tempdb Included In Systemdb Maint Plan

I have just done an in-place upgrade of a sql2000 SP4 instance to SQL 2005. After the upgrade I applied SP2 and cumulative hotfix rollup 4, plus the SQL 2000 DTS designer components for backward compatibility.

all went well with the upgrade.

I then migrated the maintenance plan for the system databases to 2005 SSIS version, and find it includes tempdb! This causes the jobs to fail.

Have I come across anther maintenance plan issue or have I done something wrong? Should I have applied GDR2 before the cumulative roll up?

Cannot Run Package In Job Agent With Script Task Included

Sep 13, 2006

Dear,

Since I met the strange thing these days. I cannot make it clear that how can I run the SSIS Package in job agent? I hv tried the solutions within this forum, but still couldn't solve my problem.

I have set the right credentials with the admin role of SQL account. In my SSIS package, there is a script task which is used to find out the target flat file as connection string by a user defined variable.

Aspect 1:
If I disable this script task in my SSIS package, then choose "SQL Server Integration Services Package" as the step in Job Agent, run as a proxy, it can run this package without error.

But
if I enable the script task, then choose "SQL Server Integration
Services Package" as the step in Job Agent, run as a proxy. then the
error occurred:

Message
Executed as user: xxxxxxRpt_User. The package execution failed. The step failed.

Aspect 2:Enable the Script task, try to run the package with Dtsexec.exe in Dos command prompt window, it also works:
DTEXEC.exe /FILE "D:ProjectsBBIBBIDMBBI_SSISBBI_ACQ.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF
If use the "Operating System (CmdExec)" as the step in Job and type the same command, it will output the error by Job Agent after running:

Process Exit Code 1. The step failed.

How come? The questions I want to ask Microsoft:
1. Why not keep the simple rule to run SSIS as the former DTS? Why need so much setting before running the package?!!!
2. Why does it prompt the error if a Script Task is included in a SSIS Package? But it works in Dos Command window with dtsexec.exe?

I would like to hear from all buddies here for the solutions. Many thanks for your  help.

Not sure if this is the best way to do this.  Really new to ASP.NET 2.0 so I

Any help, suggestions, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. This is for a small business line of business application that is critical for everyday business operations. These problems have resulted in lost work, short tempers, and a just frank frustration.

I am just getting started with MS SQL technologies and really need some quality help.

Thank you for your time, and have a great day.

Cheers,
Mark

Nov 14, 2011

I would like to know the impacts (if any) of adding nonclustered index with included columns on large tables (these tables are populated by bulk insert from text files).

What's The Most Efficient Way To Get Times For Multiple Tasks Within A Given Incident (my Sample SQL Included)

Jan 7, 2008

I have a scenario where given an incident, for example a helpdesk request, I need to get the time invloved given the status of the incident as it moves through a queue. Each incident has a unique incidentID and can have any number of status events, each with a statusID (1 to many) For example:

status1(S1) - Incident opened -- the time here is captured as start time

S2 - misc. status - time to capture is time between start time and the new status time i.e., 2 minutes

S3 - misc. status - time to capture is time between start time and S3 i.e., 3 minutes, and the time between S2 and S3 i.e., 1 minute

... can include any status count -->> Sx
... ending with a closing time

I'd like to able to capture any time between any 2 status levels between the start and closing time.

I'm figuring that using cursors would be the best way to go, but realize that there are always better ways to do things. Listed below is the SQL I plan to use. If anyone has a better way to go about accomplishing the desired goal please let me know. The code should be able to run under either SQL Server 2000 or 2005. Thanks in advance.

SAMPLE SQL:

declare @ticketnumber varchar(20)
,@opendate int
,@closedate int

select ticketnumber,min(opendate),max(closedate)
into temp
from mastertable
group by tickernumber

declare MyCursor cursor for
select *
from temp
order by 1

open MyCursor
fetch next from MyCursor into @ticketnumber,@opendate,@closedate
while (@@FETCH_STATUS =0)
begin
select sum(.....)
from mastertable
where ticketnumber = @ticketnumber and ?field? = 'EX'

fetch next from MyCursor into @ticketnumber,@opendate,@closedate
end
close MyCursor
deallocate MyCursor

I read that this sample is included, however when I install the samples the other three are in the "Extension Samples" directory but the "Custom Report Item Sample" is missing. Can anybody please tell me where I can find it?

Thank you!

ReportViewer Control Doesnt Show 100% Of Report When Included In .Net Web Form With Other Controls

Apr 17, 2008

I created some controls for filtering the report that will be displayed on the same page, but below these controls. The controls take about 200px of the top of the form, while the report will be displayed in the rest of the page.

I'm using the ReportViewer control in Async mode, so it's being rendered as an Iframe, and this is necessary because some reports will take up to a couple minutes, so I want the loading animation.

As many of you know, this type of scenario will cause two scrollbars to be shown on this Web form: one for the main form, and the other for the Iframe containing the report. To prevent this, I have html,body set to overflow:hidden. This works great at preventing the outer scrollbar from showing, and only the report has a scrollbar.

The problem is that the bottom 200px (see first paragraph above) of the report doesnt show and cant be scrolled to. Has anyone come across a solution for this situation?

I'm basically stuck either having a report with two side by side scrollbars, or a report with 1 scrollbar that cuts off the last portion of each page of a report.

The 'Unlimited Data Mining Attributes.' Feature Is Not Included In The 'Standard Edition' SKU

Feb 21, 2008

When trying to process my minding model (using Association Rules) i receive the following errors

Errors and Warnings from Response

Error (Data mining): The 'Items Recommendations' mining model has 64675 attributes. This number of attributes exceeds the attribute limit of 5000 allowed by the current version of the algorithm associated with the mining model.

Errors related to feature availability and configuration: The 'Unlimited data mining attributes.' feature is not included in the 'Standard Edition' SKU.

I searched through the internet and found that a hotfix can be installed to make it work (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932609). I emailed microsoft and they provided me back with the hotfix and a password.

I tried to install the fix but i couldnt. It needed a prerequisit fix. So i installed SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 from (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=921896)

Then tried to install the fix for my unlimited attributes problem.

I tried to process my module after installing the fix and restarting my computer, but am still gettin the same error.I created another new model but the problem still exists.

Am i missing something here? Any idea to make it work?
Is there any alternative? I need to use all the elements in my datasource view.
