To ease the load of the SQL server I have a property that stores this information in a cache and everything works fine.I am doing some research to find if there are anyway to get information from the SQL server that the structure from a table has changed.I want to know if a column or table has changed any values, like datatype, name, properties, etc.Any suggestions out there ?!

Feb 2, 2008I am currently writing an install wizard for my web application. One of my steps is Installing asp.net membership, roles, and session state to the new database. My wizard detects if this step has already been completed through the page_Load event. Currently I am writing makeshift code just to see if the tables exist.Does ASP.Net provide a way to detect what services have been installed on the database? So far I have only found Install and uninstall functionality in the System.Web.Management Namespace.I have been searching for this for a while, I am sure this question has been answered somewhere, but there is so much base information on how to initially set up membership that I cant seem to find the answer.

Detect That SQL Server 2005 Is Checking A Specific Database On Its Startup

is there a way to find out that SQL Server 2005 (Express) engine is performing startup checked of a selected database?
The problem we are faced to is that our users shutdown brutally their laptops running their database. When they start laptops again, they impatiently start the application that tries to connect to the database. However, they get an error message:
Cannot open database XXXXX requested by the login. The login failed.
When they try after a minute or two, it works.
What we would like to do is provide an information message that the SQL server is checking the database and that they must wait for a while. Is there is a specific error code for this, can anyone help? We are using .NET 2.0.

Trying to delete some data from a SSCE (2005) DB produces the exception:

I'm trying to insert some values into an SQL Compact database on a WM6 device but there is something apparently wrong with my SQL statement...
The program is going to allow users to schedule an SMS message to be sent at a certain date and time. I'm using a database to keep track of the scheduled SMS messages. The database has 3 rows: phone number, message, and the date/time to be sent.
Here is the relevent code:

I'm guessing it doesn't like how I am trying to get the data from the different text boxes and the DateTimePicker to go inside the SQL command. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix my SQL command or how to get data from a textbox and DateTimePicker to be inserted into a database a different way?

I have the database out of line, but it doesn't have suspect status.
As I know in SQL Server 6.5 I can run sp_marksuspect stored procedure
for this database and then try to reset suspect status. But I didn't find
sp_marksuspect in SQL Server 7.0. Do you know something about changes for 7.0
and do you have idea what should I do to put database back on line. I can even drop it to recreate and restore.

What considerations should we bear in mind as we design the web application and database? For example, is it wise to reside the database in the web application? Extra Line Between Header And Data In Query?
Mar 24, 2015I need to have an automated process to generate and send out csv data on a set schedule. Using the sp_send_dbmail routine is working great except for one small problem I am having trouble getting around.
I am specifying a query to be run and including the results as a file attachment. The customer wants a csv file with column names.
The attachment always includes a 'separator line' of dashes between the column header and the actual data. Is there any way to eliminate this line of dashes? When I use @query_result_header = 0 flag, it removes the line of dashes, but the column names are also removed as well.
I want to keep the column names, but just remove the line of dashes.

for some AP issue, the file I upload must be without the line feed/carriage return in the last line.
for example:
original fixed-length file (exported from SSIS)

4 <-- with line feed/carriage return in the last line
The file format that AP request. The file only has 3 records, so it should end in the third line.

Should I use script component to do it ? I am new for VB . Anyone would help me ?

Aug 31, 2007I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum (forgive me if I'm not) since I'm not sure if this is an issue with inserting an item into a db or the processing of what I get out of it. I wrote a basic commenting system in which someone my post a comment about something written on the site. I wanted to keep it very simple, but I at least want the ability for a user to have newlines in their comment without having to hardcode a <br /> or something like that. Is there a way for me to detect a newline if someone, for example, is going to their next paragraph?

Displaying A Trend Line (in Line Chart) In SSRS
Feb 7, 2007We have a line graph which plots the actual data points (x,y), everything is working fine with this graph. Now we need to add a trend line to this existing graph after going thro. the articles we came to know that there is no direct option in SSRS to draw a trend line. So we need to calculate the trend values ourselves which we need to plot as atrend line. This trend line is similar to the trend line which comes in Excel chart, do anyone know how to calculate the trend values from the actual data points. We got through several formulas, but were not clear, have anyone tried out exactly the same, if so please help us out by providing an example to calculate the trend values.

BIDS Line Charts - Cant Remove Line?

When creating a line chart, I would like to be able to show Markers for the data points, but no line between these points (as you can do in excel).
I have set the line setting to none (for the lines of interest), however the lines still show.
Is this a bug, or am i missing something obvious settings-wise?

SQL Server 2012 :: Using Unions To Write Out Each Select Query As Distinct Line In Output
Aug 20, 2015Basically I'm running a number of selects, using unions to write out each select query as a distinct line in the output. Each line needs to be multiplied by -1 in order to create an offset balance (yes this is balance sheet related stuff) for each line. Each select will have a different piece of criteria.
Although I have it working, I'm thinking there's a much better or cleaner way to do it (I use the word better loosely)
Example:
SELECT 'Asset', 'House', TotalPrice * -1
FROM Accounts
WHERE AvgAmount > 0
UNION
SELECT 'Balance', 'Cover', TotalPrice
FROM Accounts
WHERE AvgAmount > 0
What gets messy here is having to write a similar set of queries where the amount is < 0 or = 0
I'm thinking something along the lines of building a table function contains all the descriptive text returning the relative values based on the AvgAmount I pass to it.

Oct 1, 2015I have a query that returns the data about test cases. Each test case can have multiple bugs associated to it. I would like a query that only returns the test cases that have all their associated bugs status = closed.For instance here is a sample of my data

3 TestCase2 11 Closed
4 TestCase2 12 Closed
5 TestCase2 13 Closed
How can I limit this to only return TestCase2 data since all of that test case's bugs have a status of closed.
