Hi all ,
Can i get some help please on the replication of Database . I want to know if i can have two different types of Publications i.e Snapshot and Transactional on a single Database for different articles ?
I want to schedule two jobs for these two distribution at two different timings . The problem now is when i start exeuting a job for Transactional replication , my snapshot replication also starts . How can i avoid this situation ?
Can anybody help me with detiled stepps to resolve this problem ?

Need your help !!
I have a database say for e.g Test_db . I have data in the form of Image and text in the database . The image data or symbols corresponds to the right text data . This database is being replicated to other servers . The servers are SQL Server 7.0 with SP 3 .
But when this database is replicated , the subscriber does not get the data in the right form . The image and text fields do not correspond properly as it is on the publisher . But sometimes it works .
This is a strange problem and i could not make out what could be the exact problem .
Does any body have insight of this problem pl .
Any kind of help will be appreciated .

Hi folks; I have two SQL machines; SERVER1 (Publisher) and SERVER2(Pull Subscriber).
Every thing seems to be working but:
I've just imported 17,000 records from another SQL database into a published table of the production server SERVER1 using IMPORT-EXPORT wizard. Now the subscriber doesn't get updated with these records. When i run the merge-agent; the agent just stops with success without pulling the data.
When i set the agent-profile to ROWCOUNT-VALIDATION; it fails at this table.
Publisher db at SERVER1 has recovery-model =FULL
Subscriber db at SERVER2 has recvery-model=BULK-LOGGED
Please help!!

I would like to take advantage of either Merge or RDA replication over HTTP, but would like to avoid setting up IIS.
Is IIS always required to support connectivity for SQL Server Mobile replication back to a desktop SQL Server database?

I am trying to do mearge replication with in our organisation. One server is located at server room(version 7.0) and it runs on NT server. Another server(desktop edition (version 7.0)) is at my desktop runs on NT Workstation. I am creating mearge replication from my machine making server room machine as Publisher and distributor and my desktop server as subscriber. But after creating replication when i view mearge agent job status it says that connection to my machine is failed. And because of this my replication is not working.
on both the servers "SQL Server Agent" service is running and i am also logging into both the servers with the same login with sa server role
I am getting following error in the "error details merge agent" dialog box
catagory -------------source -------------------------Number
Agent-------- "subscription server name" --------------20084
Data Source ---"subscription server name"-------------- 6
please help me if any one has solution

HI,
We have one publisher and 100 subscribers. And Subscribers again act as re-publisher for 3-4 win CE (Handheld) based device subscribers. Now. We have already done the setup and it is working fine.
Now due to some change in horizontal filters set in the publisher, we have change in publication. NOw whenever I make any change in publication, it says all subscribers will be marked for reinitialization and snapshot agent will run and new schema will be applied whenever next time merge agent runs.
But whenever I run the merge agent, the snapshot agent fails saying invalid column ... . I am not able to revert the changes as the same error persists even after bringing the publication back to the original state.
To add to the complexity, we have also used dynamic snapshots between publisher and suscribers.
So, Can anyone please tell me how can I change the publication script without deleting the subscribers?Any pointers in this direction are really appreciated.

Dear Friends,
I am very new to replication, For learning purpose I am trying to setup merge replication. The given setup I am using.
1. Windows 2000 Server + SP4 (Publisher for SQL 2000)
2. Windows 2003 Server + SP1 (Subscriber For SQL 2000)
I am getting a replication error, I have taken this errors details from merge agent on publisher server.
Find enclosed replication error details in the microsoft document file format (.doc). The document is consist of three SQL Server snapshot rather three diffrent errors.
In the pictures you can find the red & white color cross (wrong sign) on replication monitor tab, I don't know why it is appearing. :confused:
Kindly, give me guidance to rectify this error & setup the marge replication between two SQL 2000 Servers.

I am working on a community site that pretty much works like anyother community site like orkut or myspace..I have few doubts for which i badly need your help.. if you can point me to some usefully links, articles, pdf or your suggestions..i will surely be obiliged.
THE application i am talking about willl be invite only.. and will let the users grow there network of friends.... there will be other data associated with each userid like the profile,bookmarks etc etc.. , also there will be aurthorisation based on who are the members friends are who are not...

I want to know ,,what kind of mapping is used here... how can i achive that without sacrifising performance,, coz surely thease kind of applications are to be build for VERY LARGE USER BASE....

I am working on my first project, and using Visual Web Developer 2005, and I am having one heck of a time with one of my pages. I have a Database.sql script file that creates my application database (Malibu). My question is how do I get around the problem of the hard coded FILENAME as shown below...
CREATE DATABASE [Malibu] ON (NAME = N'Malibu_Data', FILENAME = N'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLDataMalibu_Data.MDF' , SIZE = 4, FILEGROWTH = 10%) LOG ON (NAME = N'Malibu_Log', FILENAME = N'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLDataMalibu_Log.LDF' , SIZE = 1, FILEGROWTH = 10%)
If this path does not exist on the clients PC - the script will fail.

I need your help and advice on copying databases from SQL Server 6.5 to SQL Server 7.0 and SQL 2000 . How can i do it ? Can it be done through Enterprise manager or is there a script available on any site or if someone can provide me .
I want to copy all the objects, indexes and logins with Passwords from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7.0 and SQL 2000 .

Hi, for SQL 2005 - to set up database mirroring, is it required to have Active Directory installed or to be part of a domain? I am looking to use a workgroup with the SQL machines only and to not reference any domain and cannot find this information - is this possible?

You mentioned that it will work with Transactional replication only if the application uses the option ' with log ' for those transactions .
Can you let me know where can i set this option for transaction replication ?

Hi,I wonder if anyone can help with the following on a fee paying basisfor the the design or development of some type of script or utility orpiece of code to do the following work.I wish to retrieve some data from an online database that is in thepublic domain. The online database has a search facility that matchesthe entry (name) in a search box then returns a screen stating that amatch has been found or not found.If a match is found there is a button to click that proceeds to thescreen containing the data which is simply two names. It is these twonames that I wish to retrieve and store them in something like a textfile where they are associated with the original entry (name) used inthe search box.I have a list of the entries for the search box that can be suppliedin sample format for testing as a columnar text file or commadelimited file or a spreadsheet.. I would need the procedure toprocess the list of search entries, retrieve the data then move on tothe next one in the list. Obviously, if a match was not found then theprocess would need to move on the the next entry in the list withperhaps a message saying "No Match" until the entire list wasprocessed.The PC I hope to run the process on is a Windows XP machine and if Ineed to purchase any particular software that is necessary for the jobthen I am quite willing to do so. I'm upgrading to SQL 2012 from 2008R2, while doing so i will be rebuilding all the indexes on all the database. In my previous environment while doing so, i got space related error in primary filegroup for insufficient space in the primary filegroup. Is there any rule of thumb about how much space is required by index rebuild command for each database, or is there a safe threshold for free space in the database?

Hi,I have transactional replication set up on on of our MS SQL 2000 (SP4)Std Edition database serverBecause of an unfortunate scenario, I had to restore one of thepublication databases. I scripted the replication module and droppedthe publication first. Then did a full restore.When I try to set up the replication thru the script, it created thepublication with the following error messageServer: Msg 2714, Level 16, State 5, Procedure SYNC_FCR ToGPRPTS_GL00100, Line 1There is already an object named 'SYNC_FCR To GPRPTS_GL00100' in thedatabase.It seems the previous replication has set up these system viewsSYNC_FCR To GPRPTS_GL00100. And I have tried dropping the replicationmodule again to see if it drops the views but it didn't.The replication fails with some wired error & complains about thisviews when I try to run the synch..I even tried running the sp_removedbreplication to drop thereplication module, but the views do not seem to disappear.My question is how do I remove these system views or how do I make thereplication work without using these views or create new views.. Whyis this creating those system views in the first place?I would appreciate if anyone can help me fix this issue. Trying to replicate database from a NT 4.0 server, SQL 7.0 SP2 to imilar machine on the same domain. When I use wizard following error occurs.
SQL server enterprise manager could not complete the wizard because @@servername for " is Null. Use sp_addserver to set @@servername.
Is this looking for a remote servername? What is the issue? Even if I use SP to add server name it complains about @@servername. The new name is added to the list of the remote server.

I have a software that uses access database. this database is stored locally, thus, outside cant talk to it directly.
Now, i have a website hosted on a hosting company that runs microsoft sql 2000. I need to build a web application that will read some data from my local database and update it.
So, first thing comes to my mind is database replication. I have tried searching for helps, but couldnt find anything useful.
Can anyone tell me if replication of database from microsoft access to sql server 2000 can be done?
Any help guides will be much appreciated.
To move my local database to a webserver is not an option.

I have one database(database1) in houston and the other database(database2) at Newjersy. SO if i wanted to replicate the data from the database1 to database2 how can I do that. I wanted to setup the replication to get the data into only one table. Infact both the tables are not identical in structure.

I'm a newbie so bare with me. If I have two servers running SQL Server, a primary and a secondary, how can I make sure that both databases (One on each server) are always syncronized? In our situation the secondary server is a hot backup in case the primary fails. If the primary fails then data gets written to the secondary. When the primary comes back up then its database needs to be synced with the secondary. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
