I have a column in my database which came from Oracle database. In this Column I have date but the format is strange for me (Example: 105046).How can I convert this date to MM/DD/YY format in sql?

I'm loading from Oracle using the OraOLEDB.Oracle.1 provider since I need unicode support and I get the following error:

For most of my queries to Oracle I can cast the columns to get rid of the error (CAST x AS DECIMAL(10) etc), but this does not work for:
1) Union
I have a select like "SELECT NVL(myColumn, 0) .... FROM myTable UNION SELECT 0 AS myColumn, .... FROM DUAL"
Even if I cast the columns in both selects (SELECT CAST(NVL(myColumn, 0) AS DECIMAL(10, 0) .... UNION SELECT CAST(0 AS DECIMAL(10, 0)) AS myColumn, .... FROM DUAL) I still get the error above.
2) SQL command from variable
The select basically looks like this:
"SELECT Column1, Column2, ... FROM myTable WHERE Updated BETWEEN User::LastLoad AND User::CurrentLoad"
Again, even if I cast all columns (like in the union), I still get the same error.

I'm trying to extract some data from a table in oracle. The oracle table stores date and time seperately in 2 different columns. I need to merge these two columns and import to sql server database.
I'm struggling with this for a quite a while and I'm not able to get it working.
I tried the oracle query something like this,
SELECT
(TO_CHAR(ASOFDATE,'YYYYMMDD')||' '||TO_CHAR(ASOFTIME,'HH24:MM : SS')||':000') AS ASOFDATE
FROM TBLA
this gives me an output of 20070511 23:06:30:000
the space in MM : SS is intentional here, since without that space it appread as smiley
I'm trying to map this to datetime field in sql server 2005. It keeps failing with this error
The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data
I'm struck with error for hours now. Any pointers would be helpful.

I can say "SELECT * FROM Invoices WHERE INVOICE_DATE > sysdate", but not INVOICE_DATE > sysdate - 1 (in any of its variations -- (sysdate-1), trunc(sysdate-1), trunc(sysdate)-1, etc.)
If using ODBC Access, I can say INVOICE_DATE > DATE()-180, but that syntax doesn't work with ODBC Oracle.
On a less positive note, is this beta software? The Import/Export wizard exports tables that cannot be re-imported. That's Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft Access. Varchar(3)'s turn into Memos, and unless someone tells me differently, nothing will turn a Memo back into a Varchar(3).

Jan 24, 2008I have an SSIS package that moves data from SQL Server to an legacy Access database. In SQL Server, there is a date/time column that I need to split into a separate date column and time column in the access database. Initially I just created a derrived column for the time and set the expression equal to the source date/time column from SQL Server. Unfortunately, that just makes the date column and time column the same having the full date/time.
What expression can I use during a derrived column transformation to assign just the date to a derrived column and just the time to another derrived column?

I have a table here. I want find a way of getting the latest date, when the code is the same. If the Declined date is null. Then I still want the latest date. E.g. ID 3.
If the declined date is filled in. Then I want to get the row, when the Datein column value is greater then the declined date only.
I tried grouping it by max date, but i got an error message when trying this out. Against the code
WHERE MAX(Datein) > Declined
An aggregate may not appear in the WHERE clause unless it is in a subquery contained in a HAVING clause or a select list, and the column being aggregated is an outer reference. What do I need to do to get both my outputs working?

Aug 16, 2006ActivityDate is a report parameter set up as a date that I'm trying to pass into an Oracle query. The specific WHERE clause is
WHERE PROJ_DATE = TO_DATE(:ActivityDate,'YYYY-MM-DD')
When I run the query from the Data tab, all works as expected. I suspect the reason is that I under the date as 2005-12-31. If I enter the date as 12/31/05, the query fails ("Not a valid month") unless I change to function's format to 'MM/DD/YYYY' in which case I, again, get good results.
But when I run the report from Preview, I get no results at all no matter what format I use in the function.
Any chance any of you have seen this and know how to work with it?
Error Loading Oracle DATE Data

I'm trying to put in an SQL server database some data extracted from Oracle Server 9i.
During the load process, the "OLE DB Destination" in the task chokes up when it finds a record containing the date '0197-01-01 00:00:00' (i got this by putting the error output to a column of type varchar(50)). I can't use the Condicional Split's date functions to filter this out because they also choke on the strange date.
Can anyone give a sugestion?

What I need is:
Take the day and month from column x (all records are formated yyyy-mm-dd)
Place it in column y
The yyyy in column y should be - currenct year +1 and no the year in column x.

We have a bunch of Audit tables that contain almost exact copies of the operations tables. The audit tables also include:
AuditID - the audit action (insert, modify - old, modify - new, deleted)
AuditDate - date and time of action
AuditUser - User who did it...
At the end of the day I need to know for any given record what it looked like at the beginning of the day and what it looks like at the end of the day. There could have been numerous changes to the record throughout the day, those records I am not interested in. Only the first record and the last record of a give day.
I am going to be doing a lot of MIN(AuditDate) and MAX(AuditDATE) and .. WHERE AuditDate BETWEEN '10/1/2007 00:00:00' AND '10/1/2007 11:59:59' ...
Question: Whats better for performance:
1. Separating out the date and time and doing a clusterd index on the date.
2. Keeping date and time in the same column and just use a normal index.
3. Better ideas?

Basically it gets the date from the source data column and outputs it as an integer in the YYYYMMDD format.So 01/OCT/2015 would become --> 20151001...I've been fidgeting with DAX but my problem is that I keep missing the leading zeroes for months and days. So 01/March/2015 becomes 201531 which is not what I want (I need 20150301 in this case).

Derived Column Based On Result Of Oracle Query

I need to create a derived column for each row in a SQL dataset.
This derived column needs to be created by passing across two values from the SQL dataset and querying an Oracle table based on those parameters. If the Oracle query returns a record(s) then the derived column should be set to 1 otherwise leave it as default (0).
One of these parameters needs to check a date range so I can't use a Lookup Transformation...any ideas how I can accomplish this ?
