Date/Time Of Latest SQL Server 2005 Instance Restart
Jan 28, 2008
Is the Date/Time of the latest SQL Server 2005 instance restart stored somewhere in the system catalog?
This value is quite relevant when retrieving information on the costliest unused indexes in the instance.
I know of one way of doing this, which is to search the SQL Logs for this info.
This solution is very unwieldy - we recycle the logs daily and we only keep the logs of the last 7 days.

TransactionsImport (which is the destination table) TransactionsImportDelta
I need to do the following:
Get the records with the latest date and time in the destination table TransactionsImport Get the records with the latest date and time in the destination table TransactionsImportDelta table Insert the records from the TransactionsImportDelta table into TransactionsImport that have a greater date & time than the current records in TransactionsImport table.
Problem is date & time are in separate columns:
Table structure:

We are trying to quickly put together what needs to be accomplished to install a named instance of SQL Server 2000 on an existing production server (also running SQL Server 2000). It appears as if the install will require a reboot. Can the reboot be postponed until after-hours without impacting the default instance of SQL Server?
Also, I see that if certain services are stopped prior to installing sp4 that you can avoid a reboot. However, if we are unable to stop these services (DTC, for example) without impacting the default instance of SQL Server, will the default instance of SQL Server experience any issues if we postpone the post-sp4 reboot until after hours?

How to find last login date/time for user DML acitivity on databases on Instance?
Is there any way we can find our the last login date/time for databases?
Note: 1. We can find if the SQL Trace is running and store. This is not good solution         2. Audit logins off/on is also not good solution.        3. Using DMV's also not good option, if reboot sql server instance then historical values can not see.
Greetings,I have an e-timesheet application.i made a function that takes the startdate of the week:public SqlDataReader GetProjectsActive(DateTime SheetDate) { SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings["connectionString"]); SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand("GetProjectsActive", myConnection); myCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; SqlParameter parameterSheetDate = new SqlParameter("@SheetDate", SqlDbType.DateTime); parameterSheetDate.Value = SheetDate; myCommand.Parameters.Add(parameterSheetDate); myConnection.Open(); SqlDataReader dr = myCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection); return dr; } i run the application and i pass the value 6/1/2008 (date without time) to the GetProjectsActive but what i notice that the storedprocedure adds the current time to the passsed date when it has been executed so some projects will not appear since the startdate and enddate of the project are only dates so i try this solution: parameterSheetDate.Value = SheetDate.Date;and it works finebut my question why the current time has been added to the storedprocedure automatically although i pass only the date 6/1/2008 date????your help is highly appreciated.Best regards.
I'm trying to extract some data from a table in oracle. The oracle table stores date and time seperately in 2 different columns. I need to merge these two columns and import to sql server database.
I'm struggling with this for a quite a while and I'm not able to get it working.
I tried the oracle query something like this,
SELECT (TO_CHAR(ASOFDATE,'YYYYMMDD')||' '||TO_CHAR(ASOFTIME,'HH24:MM : SS')||':000') AS ASOFDATE
FROM TBLA
this gives me an output of 20070511 23:06:30:000
the space in MM : SS is intentional here, since without that space it appread as smiley
I'm trying to map this to datetime field in sql server 2005. It keeps failing with this error
The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data
I'm struck with error for hours now. Any pointers would be helpful.
I have a select query that results all the dbs and their several backup dates×. Howover I only need the latest backup dates for each of the db.How can I write that in tsql?
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
Im in a bit of a pickle due to a large amount of data in a table and the query Im running is taking a very long time, so Id like to get some advice from the guys here to see if it can be done another way.
Ok, so heres the background. I have a table, see desc below, that contains transaction data for a number of users. Each user may have more than one transaction. In each row the SEQUENCENUMBER column is populated with a timestamp for the transaction, so I was using this to get the latest. However there are over 1 million rows in the table and the query below has taken over 12 hours so far to run. Has anyone any ideas on how I can make life a little easier for myself here?
SQL Query
Code:
select user,recipient,sequencenumber from trans_database where user IN (select distinct(user) from trans_database) order by sequencenumber desc limit 1;

The box I am trying to connect to is running two instances of SQL Server. There is a SQL Server 2005 instance which is the default. There is a SQL Server 2000 instance which is named 'SQLSERVER'. I can connect to the SQL Server 2000 instance no problem:<add key="ConnectionString" value="server=MYPCSQLSERVER;database=mydatabase;user id=****;password=****" /> However, I am having trouble connecting to the Default SQL Server 2005 instance. I have tried: <add key="ConnectionString" value="server=MYPC;database=mydatabase;user id=****;password=****" /> but it doesn't work. I have tried explicitly setting SQL Server 2005 to use port 1434 (as SQL Server 2000 is running on port 1433), and then used: <add key="ConnectionString" value="server=MYPC,1434;database=mydatabase;user id=****;password=****" /> but this doesn't work either.
Am I mssing something here? Any help much appreciated Thanks...
I've installed an SSL certificate via IIS. I stopped sql server and agent but cannot restart them. I'm getting the following message in the error log:

I've tried removing the SSL certificate but with no success.
Help! I'm starting to think that the only solution is to uninstall sql server 2005 and reinstall.
I have a table here.  I want  find a way of getting the latest date, when the code is the same.  If the Declined date is null.  Then I still want the latest date.  E.g. ID 3. Â
If the declined date is filled in. Â Then I want to get the row, when the Datein column value is greater then the declined date only.
I tried grouping it by max date, but  i got an error message when trying this out.  Against the code Â
WHERE MAX(Datein) > Declined
An aggregate may not appear in the WHERE clause unless it is in a subquery contained in a HAVING clause or a select list, and the column being aggregated is an outer reference. Â What do I need to do to get both my outputs working?Â
My requirement is to get the latest start date after a gap in a month for each id and if there is no gap for that particular id minimum date for that id should be taken….Given below the scenario
ID Â Â Â Â Â StartDate 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-01-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-02-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-05-01-------After Gap Restarted 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-06-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-09-01---------After last gap restarted 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-10-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-11-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-01-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â 2014-02-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-03-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-04-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-05-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-06-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-07-01
For Id 1 the start date after the latest gap is  2014-10-01 and for id=2 there is no gap so i need the minimum date  2014-01-01
My Expected Output id       Startdate 1        2014-10-01 2        2014-01-01
I have to display the last temperature reading from an activity table for all the dates in a selected date range. So if I select the date range from 09/01/2012 to 09/30/2012, the results should look like this:
Date Temperature 09/01/2012 73.5 09/02/2012 75.2 09/03/2012 76.3 09/04/2012 73.3 09/05/2012 77.0 09/06/2012 74.5 and so on.
I am using this to get the dates listed: WITH CTE_DatesTable AS ( SELECT CAST('20120901' as date) AS [Date] UNION ALL SELECT DATEADD(dd, 1, [Date]) FROM CTE_DatesTable WHERE DATEADD(dd, 1, [Date]) <= '20120930' ) SELECT [Date] FROM CTE_DatesTable
How could I get the temperature if I did a sub-query here?

I'm a student at Boise State university and we're using SQL Express as part of one of our projects for ASP.NET programming. I liked it and I'm trying to use it to power a wiki that I'll be hosting from my home internet connection. The wiki is compatible with MSSQL server, but it won't connect to SQL Express.
I suspect that the problem is in the connection string, mainly because the apps we're developing for class use a connection string like: <add name="AspNetForumConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=localhostsqlexpress;Initial Catalog=gaming.forum.nxnw;User ID=*********;Password=*********;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
and note the Data Source. The wiki I'm using is PHP based and uses ADObd to connect databases and has a driver for MSSQL, but not SQL Express (no surprise, really). I know just enough php to be dangerous to code and I've tried modifying the adodb-mssql.inc.php, but I can't seem to make the right change.
So, all that said, my question is: Is there a way to change what SQL Express 2005 will accept as a connection string? I've been looking, but I'm not even sure what the setting would be called.
select SERIALNO, Max(TIME) from dbo.TASK A join dbo.Status B on A.TID=B.TID where A.ID in ('1111',2222') and A.TYPE='Pen' group by B.SERIAL_NO, B.TIME order by BM.TIME
For this query I may get serial no duplicates but times are unique
For that serial no, I have to find the recent time. But if I use group by, I am getting the wrong no
guys help please...I have a table with 3 columns (TransactionID, CustomerID, TrasanctionDate) and there could be posibility that one or more rows could have the same value for CustomerID. Now my question is it posible to retrieve the row of latest TrasanctionDate made by a particular customer?
Ex:
TransactionID | Customer ID | TrasanctionDate
1 | 2 | 9/3/2007 12:00:00 AM 2 | 3 | 9/4/2007 12:00:00 AM 3 | 2 | 9/5/2007 12:00:00 AM 4 | 2 | 9/6/2007 12:00:00 AM
Say, i want to retive the latest trasanction of customer with CustomerID equals to 2. The output shoudl be is row 4 since it has the lates date with CustomerID equals to 2
4 | 2 | 9/6/2007 12:00:00 AM
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
