Inititally we were using ODBC driver for DB2. My reports we working fine(preview mode) with date type parameters.
But When I changed it to OLEDB driver for AS400 DB2 it is throwing the exception while previewing the same report.
Driver Name: "IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries IBMDA400 OLE DB Provider"
ERROR Message: "The parameter fromDate doesnot have expected value?"
Please help me.

Hi All,
I am using OLEDB Command transformation in a data flow to update the table. Find the columns for the table EMP as follows.
EmpID - int
EmpName - varchar(40)
EmpSal - float
Status - varchar(20)
I am using the following command to update the table.
Update EMP set status = 'Disabled' where EmpID = ? and EmpSal = ?
when I use the above condition the type of the second parameter is taking as "double precision float" as the incoming input column type is "double - precision float". This is fine.
But when I use the following condition the type of the param is taking as different one.
Update EMP set status = 'Disabled' where EmpID = ? and ( EmpSal + ? ) = 0
It is taking as "four byte signed integer" even though the incoming input column type is "double precision float" thus I am loosing the precision and getting error when the limit exeeds. If I use 0.0 then it is taking as "Numeric" type.
If I use convert function like (EmpSal + ? ) = Convert(float, 0) then it is taking as "double precision float".
Update EMP set status = 'Disabled' where EmpID = ? and ( EmpSal + ? ) = Convert(float, 0)
My question is how it behaves in the above situation. Can any body clarify please?

We have a multipurpose stored proc in which one of the many expected parameter is a date. It keeps giving me the following error:Description: "Operand type clash: int is incompatible with date"- although there is no integer.
One way to fix it would be change the data type from date to datetime in proc but I can't do that since it is multi-purpose proc. I didn't find anything good on the net.
Is it possible to enable parameter of type date to be blank (not null)?
I created parameter of type date, gave it no default value, when I pressed the preview tab I got error message "The property 'DefaultValue' of report parameter 'DateParamName' doesn't have the expected type"

Where can I get "sybase ASE oledb driver" ? I tried to get the source data from Sybase using SSIS. But I don't see an option for "sybase OLEDB driver " under the connection manager. I tried to google and went to sybase.com but still couldn't find it. could someone help?

I don't know what exactly happened but my oledb provider for sqlserver seems to be damaged because when I try to connect to sqlserver (localy) it says:
Quote: :[dbnetlib] connectionOpen (connect()) SQL Server does not exist or access denied .Context: Error during initialization of the provider.
Is there anybody know how should I fix this and what can cause this?I ask because I want to prevent it in the feature! I run sql server 2000 on xp servivce pack 2.So I think it will a headache to install MDAC 2.8,isn't it?

I'm getting a strange error in SSRS when there is no data returned from a OLEDB datasource.
Here are the steps to simulate the error
1. Create 2 shared datasources to the Adventure Database - one using ADO MD provider (Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (AdomdClient)) and another using OLEDB (OLEDB 9.0 for Analysis Services)
2. Create a new report and create a dataset with the ADO-MD provider and copy and paste the below query. (This query will not return any data)
SELECT NON EMPTY [Measures].[End of Day Rate] ON 0 ,NON EMPTY {[Date].[Date].&[10000]} ON 1 FROM [Adventure Works]
3. Run report. It will be blank as nothing is defined in the layout. But this shows that the query is executed in the dataset and is succesfull although the query does not return any data.
4. Create another report and create a dataset with the OLE-DB provider and copy paste the above query.
5. Run the report. It will come back with error in the lines of "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The reporting services log file will show that the query execution has failed although this is not the case when analysed from profiler.
Any ideas on how to solve this? What I'm trying to acheive is to use the NoRows property of table to display a message when there is no data. But I'm not able to pass the above hurdle when no data is returned from the dataset.

I created a package that extracts records from a .DBF file into an SQL Server database. I installed a Visual FoxPro plugin (vfpoledb). When I run the package from my PC, it runs smoothly. But, when I try to run the same package in another PC, it displays a DTS_E_OLEDBERROR "Class not registered" error. Anyone has an idea about what this means? thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if the VisualFoxPro 9.0 OLEDB driver supports parameters? Trying to pass parameterised queries from SSIS results in the error reported below, which implies it does support parameters, but that SSIS is not calling the driver properly somehow.

I like to define my procedure parameter type to match a referenced table colum type,
similar to PL/SQL "table.column%type" notation.
That way, when the table column is changes, I would not have to change my stored proc.
Any suggestion?

I have a dataflow in my SSIS Package that is supposed to transfer over all the rows from a SQL server table. I am selecting columns from the SQL table and there is a total of 1603 rows. I am only getting 354 rows in the DB2 destination table. I have turned on SQL logging and specifically the BufferSizeTuning option for this dataflow. in the Sysdtslog90 table I see messages about the "Rows in buffer type 0 would cause a buffer size greater than the configured maximum. There will only be 1249 rows in buffers of this type" and "Rows in buffer type 3 would cause a buffer size greater than the configured maximum. There will only be 1251 rows in buffers of this type"
I have the following set in the Dataflow properties.
DefaultMaxBufferRows = 5000
DefaultBufferSize = 10485760
The server is windows server 2003 x64, SQL Server 2005 sp1 resides on this server where the SSIS packages are running also. 12gb of ram.
Any suggestions how i can get all the rows transferred, what is Buffer Type 0 and 3? this doesnt seem like a lot of rows (1603 total) to hit a DB2 destination with.
Any settings I would need to check in the Connection Manager? I am using Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for DB2.

I'm trying to run an MDX query against SSAS2005 with a parameter. It works fine with ADOMD.NET, but I can't get it to work using OleDb. (I have to use OleDb because of limitations of the calling application.) Is this possible?

Please help!!!We had a sql server 7 DB, with a char 8 field, in which some of thedata was only 7 characters in length.Via a type 4 JDBC driver, we got back a NON space padded String.This server got upgraded to sql server 2000. Now, via the type 4 JDBCdriver, we get a String padded field!!I understand there is a ODBC setting for ANSI padding on/off, but thetype 4 doesn;t use the OdBC-JDBC bridge...so configuration could beaffecting the data coming back?No one here can work out why. I'm getting this error on a vb.net page the needs to execute two separate stored procedures. The first one, is the main insert, and returns the identity value for the ClientID. The second stored procedure inserts data, but needs to insert the ClientID returned in the first stored procedure. I'm having an issue with the JDBC driver when I execute a stored procedure that both has a return value and also returns a result set. If I attempt to retrieve the return value (registered as an output parameter) after I execute the stored procedure, then any subsequent attempts to retrieve the result set always return null. Is this by design? If I use the result set first and then later get the return value that works; however, in my situation I need to first check the return value before I work on the result set. Am I'm I doing something wrong?

I have parameters in my report. The user can choose the year, month and date (3 parameters).
Now I want to set default vaules for the parameters , so that the user sees the report for example for the current day without selecting the parameters. I tried to set the type of the parameters to DateTime and the default value for example for the year to "=Today().Year" . But when I execute the report an error occures . Something like : no validValue for this parameter.
My Attributes for the year month and date are from an Analyis Services Cube from a Server Time dimension .
Does somebody know how to make it possible to set default values for this parameters?

Does somebody know how I can reduce the values for a parameter. For Example I have a parameter "year" from a server time dimension from a cube. The values which are available are "Year 2004", "Year 2005", "Year 2006", "Year 2007".
But I want that the user only can choose "Year 2006" or "Year 2007" ant not every Year or "All".
Or Other Example: The User should only choose a Date that is int the past or Today but not a Date in the future.

Is there an estimated release date for the JDBC driver version 1.2. Currently this is only a Technology preview which is not to be used in production. My problen is that we can no longer distribute SQL 2000 as part of our ISV agreement after Dec 31st and The current released version JDBC 1.1 has a issue with JBOSS startup which is corrected in 1.2.

I have an SSIS package that I need to modify. It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005. Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation. I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document." The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:
Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.
Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do? The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.

Is it possibly in SqlDataSource's SelectCommad to convert a text-type value to a date-type value (11/1/2008 (text) -> 11/1/2008 (date) ) , so that order by can be used. Or is the other ways to use order by correctly with text-type (date)values

the result of calling the procedure, the result is truncated to 4000 character. Is this a driver bug?

We have some columns in a table where the date is stored as 19980101 (YYYYMMDD). The data type for this column is NUMBER(8) in Oracle.
I need to copy rows from Oracle to SQL Server using SSIS. I used the Data Conversion transformation editor to change it to DT_DATE, but the rows are not being inserted to the destination.
On Error, If I fail the component, then the error is :
There was an error with input column "ORDER_DATE_CONV" (1191) on input "OLE DB Destination Input" (29). The column status returned was: "Conversion failed because the data value overflowed the specified type.".

Date parameter. I created a report that allows a drop down for a date range to be selected. However, whenever I preview the report, I get an error. I know my error stems from my date fields being in this format "201301" , and the "date/ time" in SSRS being mm/dd/yyyy on the drop down calendar in SSRS.
I know the direction I want to go in, but just a little confused on where would I use the convert or cast function. Would it be in the data parameter itself, or a part of the query before the @start date and @End date?

I am currently using the following embedded code to get the selected values from a Parameter and display in a textbox. I however have a number of reports and I don't want to include this in all of them. I have created a dll with some other functions but when i try to include the following function it throws an error on the Parameter type. trying to install sql server2005 on a windows 2003 server box.
getting msg below at the sql server . i looked at other posts on trying to uninstall SQL Native Access Client and norton antivirus. i could never find the snac on the add - remove programs and this server does not have a virus protection program yet.
here's the history of the installs on the server:
wanted to test a 2005 upgrade so:
1) installed sql server 2000 then sp4 then restored some databases to it - all OK
2) tried to upgrade to sql 2005 but ran into problems and left it at that.
had a disk drive crash on the d drive so lost the installs but not the operating system
when the drive was replaced, left alone for a while
then wanted to test a straight 2005 install
1) removed the broken 2005 attempt
2) removed the 2000
3) installed 2005 and got the error on the subject line:
