SQL 2012 :: 15 Minute Interval Report Between Two Dates With Total For Each Interval

Jul 21, 2014

I'm trying to create a report which will give me a break down of how many unique vehicles have been seen between two dates via a 15 minute interval and what Lane they were seen. My current script looks like this

SELECT l.Name [Name], count(l.Name) Total, p.Created
FROM PlateReads p
inner join Lanes l on p.Lane_ID = l.ID
where LicencePlate in (Select Plate from LPRnet_MelAir_C.dbo.TempVehiclePlates)
group by Name
Name being the Lane they were in and the Total being the amount of times a unique vehicle has been seen and p.Created being the date they were seen (thats what I need the interval powered off)

Ideally the output would look like this

16/03/201408:00 to 08:15Bus Lane 15
16/03/201408:00 to 08:15Elevated Road150
16/03/201408:00 to 08:15Public Pickup75

16/03/201408:15 to 08:30Bus Lane 13
16/03/201408:15 to 08:30Elevated Road120
16/03/201408:15 to 08:30Public Pickup55

All the way to 12/04/2014

I’ve got it so it says Lane and Count just can’t get the interval part

Retrieve A Recordset From One Table Based On The CSV Values In The Field Of Another

Feb 6, 2007

Hello!

I have 2 tables, one that contains a set of codes and their definitions, and another where each record has a field that contains several of these codes separated by commas:

Tab1

SubCode | Definition
---------------
S100 | Def of S100
S101 | Def of S101
S102 | Def of S102

Tab2

DepID | Purpcode |SubCodes
-----------------------------
1 | P100 | S100,S101,S102
1 | P101 | S100, S101
2 | P101 | S100,S102

I'm trying to create a query against Tab1 so that it retrieves a recordset of Subcodes and definitions based on the contents of the Subcodes field for a record in Tab2. I've tried this using a subquery, as follows:

SELECT SubCode ,Definition
FROM Tab1
WHERE SubjectCode IN
(SELECT CHAR(39) + REPLACE(SubjectCodes, CHAR(44), CHAR(39 + CHAR(44)+ CHAR(39)) + CHAR(39)
FROM Tab2
WHERE DepID = 1 AND PurposeCode = 'P101')

The subquery will return: 'S100','S101' and I expect the final recordset to be:

SubCode | Definition
---------------
S100 | Def of S100
S101 | Def of S101

However, it's not returning any records. If I execute the subquery separately and then plug its results into the main query e.g.

SELECT SubCode ,Definition
FROM Tab1
WHERE SubjectCode IN ('S100','S101')

it returns the expected recordset. Does anyone have any pointers? It's driving me nuts..

Cheers
Greg

Run A SP With A Datetime Interval From A Table

Nov 9, 2007

Hello,
I have something i called a deletelist, inside this list is items that is waiting to be deleted.
The deletelist looks like this:username nvarchar(20),itemtype int,deletedate datetime
The SP that runs once everyday and deletes post is called Data_DeleteFromDeleteList.
Inside of this SP i have afew delete functions like this one:DELETE FROM reg_user WHERE (username = (SELECT username FROM data_deletelist WHERE (deletedate < getdate() AND itemtype = 0)))
Now i want to add a new delete function to this list, this function is to execute a SP when the itemtype occurs, like this:SELECT EXEC [dbo].[Data_CompletlyDeleteAUser] @UserName = username, @QResult = @QResult OUTPUT FROM data_deletelist WHERE (username = (SELECT username FROM data_deletelist WHERE (deletedate < getdate() AND itemtype = 2)))
any idea of how i can rewrite this function so it works??in this SP im not using the @QResult for anything, thats in another SP
At the end of this SP, i just delete all the old records from the deletelist like this,
DELETE FROM data_deletelist WHERE (deletedate < getdate())

How To Insert Results Of A SQL Query Into The Field Of Another Table, As Comma Seperated Values.

Mar 7, 2008

I am currently working on an application that requires, insertion of the results of a SQL Query in to the field of another table, in the form of a comma separated values.

For example, to explain things in detail:

create table dbo.phone_details

(country varchar(20),
state varchar(30),
list_of_toll_free_numbers text)

insert into dbo,phone_details
values
( 'USA', 'CA', 'select Phone from phone_table where substring(phone, 1, 3) in ('800', '866', '877', '888')' )

The final output I desire is:

country state list_of_toll_free_numbers

---------- ------- -----------------------------------------
USA CA 8009877654, 8665764398, 8776543219

Conditionalize Field Values Based On Other Field Values

Apr 17, 2007

Here's a portion of the current statement.

UPDATE EngagementAuditAreas

SET numDeterminationLevelTypeId = parent.numDeterminationLevelTypeId,

numInherentRiskID = parent.numInherentRiskID,

numControlRiskID = parent.numControlRiskID,

numCombinedRiskID = parent.numCombinedRiskID,

numApproachTypeId = parent.numApproachTypeId,

bInherentRiskIsAffirmed = 0,

bControlRiskIsAffirmed = 0,

bCombinedRiskIsAffirmed = 0,

bApproachTypeIsAffirmed = 0,

bCommentsIsAffirmed = 0

FROM EngagementAuditAreas WITH(NOLOCK) ...

And what I need is to conditionalize the values of the "IsAffirmed" fields by looking at their corresponding "num" fields. Something like this (which doesn't work).

UPDATE EngagementAuditAreas

SET numDeterminationLevelTypeId = parent.numDeterminationLevelTypeId,

numInherentRiskID = parent.numInherentRiskID,

numControlRiskID = parent.numControlRiskID,

numCombinedRiskID = parent.numCombinedRiskID,

numApproachTypeId = parent.numApproachTypeId,

bInherentRiskIsAffirmed = (numInherentRiskID IS NULL),

bControlRiskIsAffirmed = (numControlRiskID IS NULL),

bCombinedRiskIsAffirmed = (numCombinedRiskID IS NULL),

bApproachTypeIsAffirmed = (numApproachTypeID IS NULL),

bCommentsIsAffirmed = (parent.txtComments IS NULL)

FROM EngagementAuditAreas WITH(NOLOCK)

Thanks.

Soft Delete In Table, Why Merge Agent Report Hards Delete On Table ?

Feb 1, 2007

Hi seniors

there are two tables involve in replication let say table1 and replicated table is also rep.table1.

we are not deleting records physically in table1 so only a bit in table1 has true when u want to delete a record but the strange thing is that replication agaent report that this is hard delete operation on table1 so download and report hard delete operation and delete the record in replicated table which is very crucial.

plz let me know where am i wrong and how i put it into right way.

there is no triggers on published tables and noother trigger is created on published table.

Select Multiple Rows Based On Date Interval From Table

Apr 7, 2015

I have a table in which each record has a initial date and a final date. I would like to create I query that gives me one row for each month between the initial date and the final date. It would be something like this:

Original:

Product|price|initial_date|final_date
A|20.50|2014-08-10|2014-10-01
B|50|2015-01-15|2015-02-20

Resulting view:

A|20.5|2014-08-01
A|20.5|2014-09-01
A|20.5|2014-10-01
B|50|2015-01-01
B|50|2015-02-01

I would like to do that, because these dates correspond to the time in which the products are in possession of sellers, so I would to use this resulting query to generate a pivot chart in Excel to illustrate the value of the goods that are with our sellers in each month.

Is it possible to do it? I think I could do that direct in VBA, but I think that maybe it would be faster if I could do it directly in SQL.

By the way, I am using MS SQL Server and SQL Server Manegement Studio 2012.

Copy And Delete Table With Foreign Key References(...,...) On Delete Cascade?

Oct 23, 2004

Hello:
Need some serious help with this one...

Background:
Am working on completing an ORM that can not only handles CRUD actions -- but that can also updates the structure of a table transparently when the class defs change. Reason for this is that I can't get the SQL scripts that would work for updating a software on SqlServer to be portable to other DBMS systems. Doing it by code, rather than SQL batch has a chance of making cross-platform, updateable, software...

Anyway, because it needs to be cross-DBMS capable, the constraints are that the system used must work for the lowest common denominator....ie, a 'recipe' of steps that will work on all DBMS's.

The Problem:
There might be simpler ways to do this with SqlServer (all ears :-) - just in case I can't make it cross platform right now) but, with simplistic DBMS's (SqlLite, etc) there is no way to ALTER table once formed: one has to COPY the Table to a new TMP name, adding a Column in the process, then delete the original, then rename the TMP to the original name.

This appears possible in SqlServer too --...as long as there are no CASCADE operations.
Truncate table doesn't seem to be the solution, nor drop, as they all seem to trigger a Cascade delete in the Foreign Table.

So -- please correct me if I am wrong here -- it appears that the operations would be
along the lines of:
a) Remove the Foreign Key references
b) Copy the table structure, and make a new temp table, adding the column
c) Copy the data over
d) Add the FK relations, that used to be in the first table, to the new table
e) Delete the original
f) Done?

The questions are:
a) How does one alter a table to REMOVE the Foreign Key References part, if it has no 'name'.
b) Anyone know of a good clean way to get, and save these constraints to reapply them to the new table. Hopefully with some cross platform ADO.NET solution? GetSchema etc appears to me to be very dbms dependant?
c) ANY and all tips on things I might run into later that I have not mentioned, are also greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Sky

Delete Syntax To Delete A Record From One Table If A Matching Value Isn't Found In Another

Nov 17, 2006

I'm trying to clean up a database design and I'm in a situation to where two tables need a FK but since it didn't exist before there are orphaned records.

Tables are:

Brokers and it's PK is BID

The 2nd table is Broker_Rates which also has a BID table.

I'm trying to figure out a t-sql statement that will parse through all the recrods in the Broker_Rates table and delete the record if there isn't a match for the BID record in the brokers table.

I know this isn't correct syntax but should hopefully clear up what I'm asking

DELETE FROM Broker_Rates

WHERE (Broker_Rates.BID <> Broker.BID)

Check Constraint - Compare Sum Of Two Values In One Table Against Values Located In Another Table

Jul 26, 2014

I am relatively new to SQL and as a project I have been asked to create the SQL for a simple database to record train details. I want to implement a check constraint which will prevent data from being inserted into a table if the weight of the train is more than the maximum towing weight of the locomotive. FOr instance, I need to add the unladen weight and maximum capacity of each wagon (located in the wagon type table) and compare it against the locomotive maximum pulling weight (the locomotive class table). I have the following SQL but it will not work:

check((select SUM(fwt.unladen_weight+fwt.maximum_payload) from
hauls as h,freight_wagon as fw,freight_wagon_type as fwt,train as t where
h.freight_wagon_serial_number = fw.freight_wagon_serial_number and
fw.freight_wagon_type = fwt.freight_wagon_type and
h.train_number = t.train_number) <
(select lc.maximum_towing_weight from locomotive_class as lc,locomotive as l,train as t where
lc.locomotive_class = l.locomotive_class and l.locomotive_serial_number = t.locomotive_serial_number))

The hauls table is where the constraint has been placed and is the intermediary table between train and freight wagon.

I may not have explained this very well; but in short, i need to compare the sum of two values in one table against a values located in another table...At present I keep getting a message telling me the sub query cannot return more than one row.

Allow Single Row Delete From A Table But Not Bulk Delete

Sep 16, 2013

The requirement is: I should allow single row delete from a table but not bulk delete. An audit table should get updated if there is any single delete or single update. So I wrote the triggers as follows: for single and bulk delete

ALTER TRIGGER [dbo].[TRG_Delete_Bulk_tbl_attendance]
ON [dbo].[tbl_attendance]
AFTER DELETE
AS

[code]...

When I try to run the website, the database error I am getting is:Transaction count after EXECUTE indicates that a COMMIT or ROLLBACK TRANSACTION statement is missing. Previous count = 0, current count = 1.

Delete A Field Help?

Apr 28, 2004

I have a user who has submitted a survey twice, and I have to delete the second entry.
But every user has a UserID and the data for the second submission has the same UserID (the only thing different is the fact she submitted data 5 seconds later)as this is one of the unique values used in many tables.
So I have deleted data in other tables but If I try to delete it from this particulat table I can't as I am really trying to delete that ID, so how can I get rid off that record?

How To Delete Records With A Field Containing NULL

Feb 9, 2008

Hi,
 All records of a table must be deleted if a field (field1) contains NULL or is made empty by a previous update command.
I did this but it only works when the field is made empty, not when it contains NULL:
dim field1 as string = ""...sql = "delete from mytable WHERE (field1=@field1)"        comd = New SqlCommand(sql, oConnection)        comd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@field1", field1)        comd.ExecuteNonQuery()
How can i do that?
Thanks

Resetting Value Of Identity Field After A Delete

Mar 29, 2000

Can anyone tell me of a way to reset the value of an Identity field back to its seed value after all the rows in a given table have been deleted and I try to re-populate it? There are foreign key relationships so I cannot just drop and recreate the table, and I really need to address this issue from within sql, rather than from the application.

Thanks, any and all guidance would be great :)
