We had some problems in deploying the reports to the client. Previously we used to deploy the reports in our development environment through reporting project but now we need to physically deploy the reports to the client on 14 different servers. We don't have access to the reporting project on site. Is there any way to deploy the reports outside reporting project?
I am new to SSRS. I have installed Reporting services and configured the report server. But i keep getting error messages when i try to deploy the report. I am not able to see the report in SSMS either. The error says it is not able to connect to the report server. Could anyone please help me? It is quite urgent
I have a VS 2012 SSIS project with more and more packages being added. I've got project parameters so I'm committed to the project deployment model (which is pretty convenient BTW). My question is how we're supposed to occasionally limit the packages we want deployed. There are times when 2 or more packages may be in development and 1 is deployable and the other not. I can temporarily exclude the not ready package and then deploy. It seems cumbersome bringing it back in. BIDS complains that all the tasks have lost their connection managers; even though they're are present in the editor. And it makes a copy of the .dtsx.
what's the recommended way to work in this environment?
We have an SSAS project that we want to auto deploy. I am not sure how to handle the external data sources in the project. This one in particular has a single external data source defined to Microsoft SQL Server.
I would like to be able to change the data source based on the environment. In SSIS projects I can do this by setting up environments in the SSISDB and linking them to project parameters in the SSIS project but SSAS projects don't seem to have a similar mechanism.
How to handle this? I would like to be able to have the build/deployment agent pass in server / database information to the data source based on environment (dev, QA, production).
The only way to automate this that I've discovered is to have an intermediary process that executes after the build that updates the generated .asdatabase and .configsettings files in the bin folder replacing the connection string information.
I am getting following error when "CreateDeploymentUtility" is set to true and I try building the solution. It tries to copy a file that already exits in inDeployment folder. I am using Sept. CTP.
I had a package that was deployed to the SSIS server. That server went away. I would like to now deploy the package to a file system. What settings do I need to change in the package so that it will not attempt to deploy to a non-existant server?
I have deployed a project with multiple packages to SSIS 2012 db. I am able to configure the project parameters fine. But, I am not able to replace the package variable values with the 'Environment' variables.
I have an existing project that I have added a simple text file. I am using the Project Deployment Model for this project. I save the project, close it and open the project and the file is there under the Miscellaneous folder. I successfully deployed the project to the server. When I retrieve the project using the Integration Services Import Project Wizard, all of my package modifications are there and the packages up to date but the txt file I added to the Miscellaneous folder is not there.
I have only ever created and deployed SQL 2005 Reports to the report server using Business Intelligence Studio. I have a client who's network will not allow me to remote connect to their Reporting server so that I can deploy their reports.
If I deploy the reports to my own report server, how can I then manually upload them to the Report Server using their Report Manager instad of my Business Intelligence Studio. The Upload files option is only looking for 1 file at a time, however the Business Intelligence solution have the files split up instead of in one neat package.
I have created bunch of reports using SSRS. Now I want to deliver all of these reports together. I can use data driven subscription in Report Manager. But that feature allows to deliver one report at a time. Can anyone tell me how to deliver all reports together? Requirement is reports should be delivered to dirrent departments. These reports have parameterized. Can anyone tell me how to do this? at least if somebody provides sample codes I really appriciate.
Thanks
p/s ;
I found this one on MSDN. But I'm not sure whether I can change this and use for multiple reports subscription. I dont hv a good knowledge on C# or VB. Please can anyone help me to modify this? I think we can use a loop or smthing.
i'm a new developer and working with ssrs , any one can provide me by the steps of Reports Deployment and ssrs installation . i'm using sql server 2005 with asp.net ,vb.net ....
I'm trying to use the drill-through feature to link to a report in the same solution, on the same server, but in a different project. Local help files say:
"The list of report names includes all reports in the current report server project. If the drillthrough report is on the report server but is not in the project, type the name of the report. The report name can contain a relative or absolute path to the report."
Can someone give an example of a relative or absolute path? Nothing I've tried has worked.
I have created some reports in BIDS and saved them to a folder in my m/c (without deploying them) . i want to deploy that to the report server through C# code.
i can deploy that onto any Report Server. For that I will have to change the datasource connection string.
Is there a way to achieve this. Please let me know if it is there.
Hello SQL Server Experts, Data Analysts, and Report Writers et al:
re: Reporting Options with SQL Server
I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:
Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports, Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting or presentation of the end report product?
Thank you to all, and I hope this is a beneficial discussion to others.
Ok, I'm using vb2005 express and I know that the reportviewer control has to be added and reports can't be designed from the IDE. So, I downloaded the business intelligence studio and I can design a report that looks like just what I want. What I can't seem to do is add that report to the application I'm developing. I don't want to use a report server - I want to use the report with client side processsing. I'm wondering if this is possible and if so how? When I try to add that .rdl file or rename it to a .rdcl file to my project I'm not allowed to do so. Any thoughts?
I have problem after deployig the setup project. when I install it on other computer it show error that an error has occur whil establishing connection to server. plz tell me how can I deploye a project and how can I handle this problem..
For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.
I have installed Sql Reporting Services through Sql Server 2005 Express Edition. And i desinged report.I am using Oracle database. When i click on preview buttion at design time,i am able to view the data. But when i try to deploy it.I am getting following error.
An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'ORACLE' that is not registered for this report server. Pls Help me
Is there another way for users to access reports online besides the Report Manager? Or is there a way for users to go to a URL that does not include the server? The same question goes for Report Models and Report Builder. Can they access these features without access to the server and databases?
i have SSRS project which has 40 reports and one datasource. I have deployed my reports to report server and tested. every thing is working fine. but recently when i made changes to the reports and tried to deploy them, they are not getting overwritten. although the data source is getting overwritten as i set the Overwrite property to true. can any one help me?
I have created reports using RS.The reports that are generated are build and deployed sucessfully. But when i run the reports through http://localhost/ReportServer I am not able to see the Report. A blank page is displayed with no error message.Whenever i change the Url to http://computername/ReportServer then also the same problem arises. I have already checked the ReportServer Instance and the Folder on which Reports are Deployed.I mean I am able to access the ReportFolder, the Report also, but the Report is not shown.
I have SQLExpress and SQLServer2005 installed, and Reporting services. I am trying to build and deploy a new report using my development machine as server and client. I can open the report wizard in Visual Studio, and make a report and run it in development mode. When I try to deploy the report I am asked for a username and password. I cannot find any combination of inputs that will let me proceed, but I really want to be able to access all the services on my development machine without entering credentials once Windows is running.
I have integrated Share Point server 2007 with Reports Server to publish the reports on share point site. I did all steps involved for integration
I have share point server, reports server and database server on three different machines configured and when I am trying to publish the reports from my local Dev box, setting the below project properties, target datasource folder: http://vstsvr:168/sites/wsL/ReportsLibrary/ target report folder: http://vstsvr:168/sites/wsL/ReportsLibrary/ target Server url: http://vstsvr:168/sites/wsL/
I am getting the following error:

I was just wondering why is there no option to add a new folder under a reporting server project. I have a reports project and under it i would like to add subfolders like Daily and Weekly just to make it more organized. I understand that during deployment, we can specify to which folder we want the report(s) to be deployed, but what is the reason behind not having an option to add a new folder?
I have two SQL 2014 Enterprise Edition installed with the SSRS (native) role installed.
Both server are configured separately with their own Report Server database. Now I want to configured a scale out deployment with a shared database.
On Server 1, I created a new Report Server database. On the second server, I change the database and joined the existing database. The problem is that the second server never shows up under Scale-Out deployment (Waiting to Join).
Hello. I have a version of SQL Express with Advanced services. I created a report and all seems well in Report Manager on my computer. Now it's time to deploy my report to some customers.
1. Can I create an application in Visual Studios Express to view my report? I've read things online that seem contradictory to me and I'm hoping you can clarify this.
2. On a customer machine, if they have a .net application that can render my report, will they have to install reporting services on their computer or can the .rdl file run independently of reporting services if plugged into a .net viewer component? If it was called from a .net application, then Report Server and Report Manager aren't really needed are they? I have a situation where we don't want to use IIS on customer computers if we don't need to. Since the reports will not be adhoc, we're hoping to avoid needing to install Reporting Services on customer computers.
This issue has been raised in a tangentially related thread (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=301467&SiteID=1) but no thread has been started specific to this issue. When trying to deploy a reporting services project using devenv on the command line, the following error is raised for each report.
Code Snippet
Error : Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created
We have a single solution with multiple reporting services projects, one project for each folder in our directory tree. We are trying to use the solution file as a "make file" by issuing the following batch command.
I could not find The Reporting Service Project Template with Visual Studio 2008. It was available with Visual Studio 2005. How i can add the reporting service project into VS2008?
Hi, I'm having an issue with reporting services installed on a Win2000 machine. I was able to install RS successfully on the server. Everything worked fine, but when I try to deploy a project, SS BIDS keeps asking for a valid password, no matter if I enter any valid password or not. After that if I try to access reporting service, the web interface says:
€œThe report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError) Get Online Help €?
In order to get it back working I have to go to Reporting Services Configuration Manager and mark €œApply default settings€? in Report Server Virtual Directory and Report Manager Virtual Directory. It is worth to say that no matter what project I try to deploy, it is always the same behavior, and that no error log is generated either in event viewer or in the reporting services log directory. Any idea what is happening? Regards, Germán.
