Derive Attendance Data From CLOCK IN And OUT

Jan 28, 2014

I am trying to develop an attendance application which calculates the shift details as per the Clock IN OUT Data , the following are the table details

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[INOUTData](
EmpID VARCHAR(10),
CLockDate Date NULL,
[INTIME] Time NULL,
[OUTTIME] Time NULL,
) ON [PRIMARY]

[Code] ....

-- I am trying to get the data as follows combining these two tables

EMpID ClockDateSession1StartTimeSession1EndTimeActualSession1StartTimeActualSession1EndTime

Right now i am using a stored procedure which traverses through each record and does the job.

Is there any way to do it with Pivot, or queries instead of cursors.

How does SQL Server respond when the NT Server's clock is set to a time that is earlier than the current time? Someone on my team seems to think that this is a problem for SQL Server, but I am not sure.

Attendance System

Dec 13, 2007

Hi everyone,
I am working on a web based tool to handle attendance and leaves.
Our working hours start at 9:00 but managers will be allowed to set different starting hours for some of their staff.
I will eventually need to view the employee attendance record over a period of say a month.

My question is about storing the modified working hours
I can either:
1) record the (employee name, starting date of modified time, end date of modified time, new start time) as one record and use the f_table_date function

OR

2) Generate the days between the start and end in the application front end and store values for each day in the modified working table.

I feel option 2 will be easier to calculate the reports and prevent managers from inserting modifed times for the same employees in overlapping periods but also think it's a bit not effecient to generate day values when the start and end date would be represent the same information.

Any guidance or am I not clear?
Thanks

T-SQL Derive Column From Bit Field.

Aug 11, 2004

Hi

I'm sure this is simple T-SQL but I'm stuck.

I've a bit field named "Active" and a varchar [Name] field
I want to select a derived fields "DisplayName" that consists of the Name plus either "Active" or "Not Active" depending if Active is 1 or 0.
Something like SELECT [Name]+(IF Active THEN ' Active' ELSE ' Not Active') AS DisplayName FROM Lookups ORDER BY DisplayNamebut that doesn't work.
Any suggestions please?

Storing Attendance - Design Question

Mar 16, 2006

I'm new to database design and i need som advice concerning the design of my tables.
What I want to accomplish is this:
A attendace tracking system that allows tracking of meeting attendance. The project manager is setting up a meeting and after the meeting was held he/she reports who in the project team was at the meeting. It should then be possible to track the meeting attendance of the different team members.
I have a table containing the data for the team members and i thought of adding an "attended meetings" field but the field is actually a number of fileds depending on how many meetings the person has attended so far. How do I accomplish the described functionality?
Can someone pleas give me some advice
Thanks

I have a table that contains the following structure and information:

I need to be able to take this information and display it in a data grid so that on each row I see the Member Number, First and Last Name and the In and Out Time.

I am not sure how to group the In and Out times together so that the query knows which time out corresponds to which time time for the member?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

How To Find Conditions Across Rows (attendance)

May 4, 2006

Hello,I need to find students that have 4 consecutive absences. When astudent is absent 4 times in a row, they can be dropped from the class. My class attendance file contains each attendance by date and whetherthey were present or not. When the student has 4 consecutive value 1(absent) for a given session and a given class the are considered to bedropped. If I needed to know the total number of absences, I know I could groupand summarize, but this one has the consecutive twist.Table:CREATE TABLE "dbo"."clsatt"("FULL_CLASS_ID" CHAR(15) NOT NULL,"STUDENT_ID" CHAR(20) NULL,"SESSION_ID" CHAR(10) NULL,"MEETING" SMALLINT NOT NULL,"PRESENT" CHAR(2) NOT NULL);Present value of 1 is absent, value of 2 is present (3 means holiday)Classes typically meet 12 times.I would want something likeFULL_CLASS_ID, STUDENT_ID, SESSION_ID, 'Dropped'as the output.Notice in the example the first student was absent the last 4 meetingsThe second student 5 absensesand the third student was totally absentIn these three examples, they are flagged as dropped.TIARobInserts:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------insert into clsatt values ('BUS100','1675812194','200203',1,'2')insert into clsatt How Does MS ReportingServices Derive Oracle Paramters

Apr 28, 2008

We are using MS Reporting Services to generate Xmls for corporate billing statements. Our DBAs found that MS ReportingServices are querying Oracle Catalogue before executing stored procedures in RDLs to get Oracle parameter information. Is there a way to eliminate the trip to database before executing the stored procedures?

How To Derive Parameters In Ad Hoc SELECT Statements

Jul 7, 2007

Hi,

If I have ad hoc SQL statements created by users, which could be parameterized, how could I derive the parmeters at runtime. I cannot use CommandBuilder.DeriveParameters() as that is for StoredProcedures only.

Just use Split on the SQL string? Or is there a better way, such as a third-party .Net Component?

Thanks

John

Derive Columns From Cube Member?

Aug 29, 2007

I have a cube that I read in a data flow section using OLE DB. To get this to work I had to do an ad hoc query through a sql server database ( this is problem that is described in post 219068).
So I now have the data and I want to derive new columns based on that data using an if statement:

if ( ISNULL(" [Facility].[REGION].[NATCODE].[MEMBER_CAPTION] " ) comptype = "NAT" else comptype = "REG"
comptype is the new derived column I am creating.

But when I try to save this I get an error: The expression might contain an invalid token, an incomplete token, or an invalid element. It might not be well-formed, or might be missing part of a requred element such as parenthesis

I selected the cube element from the columns list in derived element, when it initially put it in it looked like:

[[Facility].[REGION].[NATCODE].[MEMBER_CAPTION] ]
and gave error:

The token "[" was not recognized. The expression cannot be parsed because it contains invalid elements at the location specified.

Below is the statement I use to get data back from AS
select * from openrowset('MSOLAP', 'DATASOURCE=local; Initial Catalog=Patient Demographics 2005;',
'with member [Measures].[TimeDisplayName] as [Calendar].CurrentMember.Name
SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[TimeDisplayName],[Measures].[Case Count],
[Measures].[A100 Bathing],[Measures].[A100 Bed Chair Wheelchair],
[Measures].[A100 Bladder],[Measures].[A100 Bowel],
[Measures].[A100 Dressing Lower],[Measures].[A100 Dressing Upper],
[Measures].[A100 Eating],[Measures].[A100 Grooming],
[Measures].[A100 Stairs],[Measures].[A100 Toilet],
[Measures].[A100 Toileting],[Measures].[A100 Tub Shower],
[Measures].[A100 Walk Wheelchair],[Measures].[A200 Comprehension],
[Measures].[A200 Expression],[Measures].[A200 Interaction],
[Measures].[A200 Memory],[Measures].[A200 Problem Solving],
[Measures].[D100 Bathing],[Measures].[D100 Bed Chair Wheelchair],
[Measures].[D100 Bladder],[Measures].[D100 Bowel],
[Measures].[D100 Dressing Lower],[Measures].[D100 Dressing Upper],
[Measures].[D100 Eating],[Measures].[D100 Grooming],
[Measures].[D100 Stairs],[Measures].[D100 Toilet],
[Measures].[D100 Toileting],[Measures].[D100 Tub Shower],
[Measures].[D100 Walk Wheelchair],[Measures].[D200 Comprehension],
[Measures].[D200 Expression],[Measures].[D200 Interaction],
[Measures].[D200 Memory],[Measures].[D200 Problem Solving] } ON COLUMNS,
({[Facility].[REGION].[NATCODE], [Facility].[REGION].[REGCODE]} *
[RIC].[CMGGRPCD].ALLMEMBERS ) ON ROWS FROM [CMG Demographics]
WHERE [Calendar].[Quarter 2 (2007)]')

So can some one help me on how I can do this derived colum.

Is there any way to get the base table/column from a view by supplying the view name/column name_in_view? I know about INFORMATION_SCHEMA.VIEW_COLUMN_USAGE, but it doesn't always work. Try it on a regular database, not pubs. Any help is appreciated!

Attendance Records - Bulk Insert In Student Database

Apr 5, 2012

I have a csv that contains attendance records that I get daily from a 3rd party grade book solution. I need to import directly into the attend table in our student database.

Code:
Attend File-"1112","0021","404550","20120402","ABU","2300000","06","05"

The file is setup as follows, School Year, school number, student_id, absence date, absence code, course number, section number.

I need to check the student schedule to see if they are scheduled for that class when the import runs. So if they had a schedule change in the middle of the day it won't post attend to a dropped class.

I have done something similar to this before with the way I export teachers out to our grade book. I have it check the master schedule to see if the teacher is teaching at least one class, that way it won't export tutors and office staff to the grade book. I used the script below to do that but not sure who to apply it to a bulk insert.

Code:
Script Used to export teachers note last four lines, checks master
USE [GSchool]
GO
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON

[Code] ....

Secondly I need to check the date of the record and overwrite a record if one already exists for that exact course and section for that student, I need this because if they make changes to a previous day from absence un excused to excused I need to get rid of the unexcused by overwriting it.

One more thing that would be nice but is optional, is there a way to send log of errors on the import via email?

Analysis :: Dynamic KPI Goal - Derive From Source Database

Jul 14, 2015

I have a requirement to make all of my KPI goals configurable by the end user - I would like to add the data to my datawarehouse so that it is updated in the cube whenever the cube is processed. I'm thinking I will need a table for each KPI that includes two columns (I will be setting goal by year):

Year
Value

In my cube I then create a measure group for each KPI (for some I will add a calculations to break down the yearly goal to lower levels of detail).I will add each measure to my Dimension Usage and relate to each of my time dimensions at the Year level.I currently have around a dozen KPIs - my above approach seems a bit messy i.e. requiring a table and measure group for each KPI (I guess I could at least put them all into one table in my relational db).

SQL Server 2012 :: How To Calculate Attendance For Single Student For Yearly Basis

Jul 2, 2015

I have to calculate the Total number of days present and absent for a singel student.

AS of now i have 3 tables.

1.Daily attendance - Columns -[Guid][,AcademyId],[StudentId],[Date],[Status],[Reason]
2.Student details - Columns - [Guid],[FullName],[DOB],[Address]
3.Class Details - Columns - [Guid],[AcademyId],[Class],[Section],[Startdate],Enddate]

So now i have loaded all the data into the table.

I can fetch the counts for total present and absent

Query i have tried is

Declare
@StudentId Uniqueidentifier ='0B2D4D41-8D33-4D79-A981-03E0F093F458'
Begin
select A.StudentId ,A.Date,Count(Date)Total,B.Guid,

[Code] ....

AS result of this query i get the data.Present count and Absent count from date inserted in Dailyattendance tables.

SO my problem is if the student have promoted to next class then by this query it will count the before year also how do i need to calculate the count according to the Class StartDate and Enddate as i mention in the Class Details table what will be the query.

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The Conversion Of A Char Data Type To A Datetime Data Type Resulted In An Out-of-range Datetime Value.

After testing out the application i write on the local pc. I deploy it to the webserver to test it out. I get this error.

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The conversion of a char data type to a
datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.

Notes: all pages that have this error either has a repeater or datagrid which load data when page loading.

At first I thought the problem is with the date, but then I can see
that some other pages that has datagrid ( that has a date field) work

Data Reader Or Data Adapter With Data Set?

Dec 4, 2007

I have used both data readers and data adapters(with datasets) in the projects that I have worked on. I am trying to get some clarification on when I should be using which one. I think I am doing this correctly but I want to be sure I am developing good habits.

As the name might suggest, it seems like a datareader is for only reading data. I have read that the data adapter and dataset are for a disconnected architecture. Or, that they can be used for this type of set up. I have been using the data adapter and datasets when writing to a database and the datareader when reading from a database.

Is this how these should be used? Is the data reader the best choice for reading data? Am I doing this the optimal way from a performance stand point?

......................................................thanks in advance

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Change Data Capture(CDC) For Data Warehouse / Reporting?

Aug 12, 2015

I have a requirement to implement CDC for 50+ tables to implement incremental data changes warehouse/reporting rather than exporting the whole table data. The largest table is having more than half a billion records.

The warehouse use a daily copy of OLTP db (daily DB refresh). How can I accomplish this. Is there a downside in implementing CDC just for the sake of taking incremental changes on the tables?

Is there any performance impact if we enable CDC on OLTP db?

Can we make use of the CDC tables on the environment we do daily db refresh so that the queries don't hit OLTP database?

What is the best way to implement CDC to take incremental changes for reporting.
