I've got a question regarding report parameters and how to handle them with report details.
Let's assume I've got a matrix with the year in columns and articles in rows. The detail block consists of the turnover and the amount of each article selled.
Is it possible to set a report parameter that'll let the user decide, via a drop down box, If he will the see the turnover, the amount or both? I know that it works for values but can I apply a parameter to columns?
I am writing a script to update a version history table. There is a column called RELEASED_BY to be populated with details of who is implementing the release.
I have an insert query to place the data into the table.
How do I get the script to ask for the name of the person implementing the release instead of hard coding the information?
I have a pretty complicated report (lots of subreports, tables, etc) that can be well over a few hundred pages long. I can generate the report just fine, but I cannot seem to export it to anything other than an html archive. I need to export to PDF. Every time I try to export it get an error that says:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
I don't get any more information than that. Is there a way that I can figure out what the actual error is, or any other way I can go about troubleshooting this? Thanks.
The trouble I am having is that I have a drilldown report that exports the detail to Excel, but I want the summary exported to Excel.
I perform the following steps but get wrong results. Please help me identify the correct steps for the correct results. Thanks you.
1) Select Matrix. 2) Right click, select Properties. 3) Select tab Groups. 4) Select item in Columns list, click Edit. 5) Select tab Visibility. 6) Select Initial visibility: Hidden, and click okay to the Grouping and Sorting dialog box.
Now I can export summary to Excel okay, but now I can not expand the summary in the report itself, so I do the following:
7) Do one through six above (but do not close dialog box), then click visibility can be toggled by another report item. 8) Select the report item in the Report Item drop down list.
Now the report functions normally in the Reporting Services report web page, but when I export on the summary level, again it exports the detail to Excel, but what I want it to export is the summary.
I have a report with details grouping on table. What i need to do is put row number only on Parent row and skip the child row. When i use RowNumber("GroupName") of course it gives me a current RowNumber. Is there a way to count only parents?
Hi, I started working with SRS from the past one month. I am breaking my head to do this. My report has a single stored procedure. I made it to work all values of a parameter like exec sp_employee 'All' (Returns data for all employees) exec sp_employee '1111' (Returns data for an employee with id 1111) exec sp_employee '1111,2222' (Returns data for an employee with id 1111 as well as 2222)
This part works perfectly. I could successfully pass the values as mentioned above using a code block.
Now my challenge is how to layout the data on the report.
I need to show the report as follows:
Employeeid Employee Name Address etc....... Skills: Skill# Skill Name 1 11111 2 22222 3 33333 4 44444 Contacts: Contact Type Contact# Main 111-1111 Emergency 222-1111 Eductation: Name University Degree UofU Masters UofU
I tried using group by employeeid. But i can only show one group of data either Skills/Contacts/Education. I do not know if I use sub-report, how to pass the parameter from the main, when I pick multiple values for Employeeid.
Any idea how to do this? I appreciate your help, Thank you,
I've read posts that state it is impossible to remove the "Show Details" button on the tool bar in Report Manager.
I created a new role assignment for an individual on a folder with the "Browse" role only.
When that individual navigates to the folder and clicks the "Show Details" button, the "Delete" and "Move" buttons also appear on the tool bar, with a checkbox next to each report item.
I can't have a folder where my users have the ability to delete or move my published reports!
Am I missing a setting? Again, the user has the "Browse" role only on the folder.
I need help figuring out what setting I need to tweak to get the correct calculations for the default aggregate attributes for the related entities of the one I am drilling into. Right now it is calculating the total across all for every row and not slicing by sub-customer.
Example:
I have a customer with a one-to-many relationship to incidents. Both have a count aggregate that is part of the default aggregates for the entity. There are 58 rows in my table. If I run a report with CustomerName and #Incidents, I correctly get different sub totals for each customer, totalling to 58 for the grand total. However, if I run a summary report on customers and drill into the customers using click through, the #Incidents is displayed but it is 58 for all customers - every row.
If I go into the defaultDetailAttributes of the Customer and add the #Incidents to it and run the previous test, then the correct number of incidents are shown for the customer, then the incorrect number of incidents follow (from getting the aggregates from the children).
The query generated is huge and I am sure it has something to do with my OptionalMany relationships between the tables, but I can't understand why...
I want to retrive the column names from an existing report. The report is deployed on the report server and i want to write a code which will list all the column names of the reports along with the properties.
Is there any way i can do this. If so , please let me know. A code sample should help.
Hello Coders, I need help fixing a problem in my code that I do not understand. I basically have a procedure that is supposed to take all user information and then insert it to the DB or update the Database based on user entry. The call to the method is this Dim bankname As String = "" If (objBill.BillTransaction(Session("conString"), Session("whattobill"), PROC_CURR, Session("lISN"), 0, Session("fISN"), Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR"), "scott@mycleanstart.com", Session("fAmount"), Session("first_name"), Session("last_name"), Session("city"), Session("state"), Session("phone"), Session("address1"), Session("address2"), Session("postal_code"), Session("email_address"), Session("fDesc"), Session("ssn"), Session("nameoncard"), Session("PAN"), Session("cvv"), Session("cardexpirationdate"), bankname, Session("txtroutingnumber"), Session("txtaccountnumber"), Session("txtchecknumber"), Session("bqISN"), _ returnedbqISN, AuthCode, OrderNumber, DeclineCode, TermCode, ErrorMessage, authenticationValue, authenticationTransactionID, str_Centinal_ECI, "signup", PAResStatus, SignatureVerification, paypalSubAgreeID, notificationLocation, strErrorNo, strErrorDesc, strTransactionID, strStatus, strStatusCode, strReasonCode)) Then
And then below is the actual method itself........ NOTE: The code below is contained in a DLL
As part of UK compliance, we are going to start use an encrytption package (GNUPG), which will be running on a different Server to Reporting Services. A program has been written in C#, to handle requests (from mainframe and PC applications) to encrypt/decrypt credit card details. The encrypted card details are held in an NCR Teradata data warehouse, which Reporting Services can access. The encryption can be called using a http://server/folder/program?DATA=
In Reporting Services, a Data Source connection will be made, using an OLE DB .NET connection to the Teradata machine. SQL code will be included, which will link tables and retrieving the required fields for use in the report. I want to call the encryption program to decrypt the card number, so the actual card number can be printed in the body of the report.
There will probably be a requirement to write some parameter selection SQL as well, so a card nmuber can be entered as a report parameter field, which the SQL will have to either encrypt first, then process the SQL statement down the tables.
Hello, since a couple of days I'm fighting with RS 2005 and the Stored Procedure.
I have to display the result of a parameterized query and I created a SP that based in the parameter does something:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON CREATE PROCEDURE [schema].[spCreateReportTest] @Name nvarchar(20)= ''
AS BEGIN
declare @slqSelectQuery nvarchar(MAX);
SET NOCOUNT ON set @slqSelectQuery = N'SELECT field1,field2,field3 from table' if (@Name <> '') begin set @slqSelectQuery = @slqSelectQuery + ' where field2=''' + @Name + '''' end EXEC sp_executesql @slqSelectQuery end
Inside my business Intelligence Project I created: -the shared data source with the connection String - a data set : CommandType = Stored Procedure Query String = schema.spCreateReportTest When I run the Query by mean of the "!" icon, the parameter is Prompted and based on the value I provide the proper result set is displayed.
Now I move to "Layout" and my undertanding is that I have to create a report Paramater which values is passed to the SP's parameter... So inside"Layout" tab, I added the parameter: Name allow blank value is checked and is non-queried
the problem is that when I move to Preview -> I set the value into the parameter field automatically created but when I click on "View Report" nothing has been generated!!
I had thought that this was possible but I can't seem to figure out the syntax. Essentially I have a report where one of the parameters is populated by a stored procedure.
Right now this is easily accomplished by using "exec <storedprocname>" as the query string for the report parameter. However I am not clear if it is possible to now incorporate User!UserID as parameter to the stored procedure. Is it? Thanks
I have a report parameter called para1 which is a drop-down list and what I want to do is display another report parameter based on the para1 selection.
So for example, para1 contains a, b, c choices. if a user selects b, I would like para2 to display but if the user selects a or c, I don't want the para2 to display.
I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.Â
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?Â
I have created a menu report listing available reports and am setting the Jump to settings of each text box in the list to take the user to the relevent report. But I am having a problem setting up drill down to reports with multivalued parameters.
What I want to happen when the user drills down is for the report to open up with no parameter values selected. This works for single value parameters where I have set Null as the default value. But I have not been able to figure out how to do this with MVPs. Does anybody know if this is possible?
As a workaround I have been using Jump to URL (rather than Jump to report), which has no problem opening the report without having to pass any values for the MPV. But I do not like using this as I use different DEV/UAT and PROD environments so would have to amend the URL for each environment.
Seems like this should be possible... Any idea?
Cheers, Mike
PS: I should add I can Jump to reports with MVP without specifying a parameter in development studio but not when the report is published.
OK, I'm pretty sure that the answer to my questions is "no", but the boss is pushing, and I thought I'd double check.
I want the selection of one report parameter to decide what shows up for another report parameter. Specifically in my case it has to do with dates. I have narrowed the results down to monthly dates, meaning that the starting dates always start with mm/1/yyyy and the ending dates are always mm/31/yyyy (for a 31 day month).
The boss wants the ending dates to always be >= the month of the starting dates. So, if the user choose 1/1/2007 for starting, the minimum ending date would be 1/31/2007, etc.. Since the parameters are loaded at report initiation, and SSRS isn't really event driven, I didn't think this was possible. I just wanted to make sure before I tell the boss that it's not. Please advise.
I have a fairly complex report that was given to me that was hard coded for single parameters. There is a dropdown for each market (created from a query in SSRS). The users have to run for each market each week.
Is there a way to use this report as a Sub-report inside a list of a master report and then use a mult-value parameter?
I want this multi-value parameter to build the values for the list and then run the "sub-report" for each value.
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.
I am extracting RS reports through a WebService: report = execService.Render("EXCEL", null, out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamIds);
Some works fine but some are generating the following SoapException:
Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. ---> Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. ---> Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. I set required parameters to their default values. In this specific report I have two required parameters: 1: ReportParameterTime, String 2: ReportParameter1, String
I set them to their default values (ReportParameterTime to "[Czas].[Kalendarzowy].[Rok].&[2007]" - means Time Calendar Year 2007) but I am getting the exception above. I set parameters using this code:
Where parameterValues is a List<ReportExecution2005.ParameterValue>.
When I am using Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer the report is generated without any problems. I can see one parameter to choose: "Kalendarzowy" (means adj. Calendar) and can select years, the default value is "2007".
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this error ? Does anybody know ?
Hi, I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.
I am designing a report which will be used under the subreport control of a master report, now i am using a stored procedure for the subreport which has two parameters.
In the subreports dataset parameters tab, how can i mention the master reports columns, since i do not see the master reports columns here. since it is a different report.
If i use a hardcoded select query then i can just say
select address, city, state, zipcode from customer where (customerid = @customerID)
but i am using a stored proc. how to define the parameters under datasets parameter tab.
I have created an RDL file programatically. When I execute the code I get the error as mentioned below:
Error: Sub report cannot be shown. An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError)
When I copy and paste the code of RDL file into new RDL file and try to preview the output I get correct result. Note: The new RDL file does not give any error if the output is seen using preview tab but it gives the error only when executed from report viewer or from internet explorer.
Any Suggestion/feedback is highly appreciated. Thank You.

I am trying to use the reporting services on Windows 2003 with SQLServer 2005. Everything works fine in the report manager and I can access and render the reports without any problem.
