Is there any other way which is more simpler(shorter) to get the datepart (I don't want the time part ) of Datetime than this ?Convert(nvarchar, DATEPART(dd,[Date]) ) + '/' + Convert(nvarchar,DATEPART(mm,[Date])) + '/' + Convert(nvarchar, DATEPART(yy,[Date])) As[Date]
from this, circdate being a datetime field:SQLQuery = "select distinct circdate from circdata order by circdate"I need the distinct date portion excluding the time part.this has come about when I discoveredI am inserting and updating some datetime values with the same value, but for some reason, the values are always off by a few seconds. I seta variable called SetNow assigned to NOW and then set the datetimefields to this SetNow variable. Then when I collect the distinct datetime I am assuming they will have the same values recorded incircdate, but no, they are off by several seconds. Makes no sense to meat all. I tried renaming the variable several times but it makes nodifference at all.any help appreciated, thanks.
I need to set only the date part of tblEventStaffRequired.StartTime to tblEvents.EventDate while maintaining the time part in tblEventStaffRequired.StartTime.
UPDATE tblEventStaffRequired SET StartTime = <expression here> FROM tblEvents INNER JOIN tblEventStaffRequired ON tblEvents.ID = tblEventStaffRequired.EventID
I need "conditional" cascading parameters: In Report Manager when one changes parameter 1, parameter 2 get changed based on parameter 1. Optionally, one can also enter values to parameter 2 directly.
I was able to achieve this in SSRS 2000 (SP2) with the following setups. SSRS 2005 and SP1 no longer works - Parameter 2 always shows its default value regardless whether one select a value in Parameter 1 or not.
Parameter 1 available values: from query default values: non query (specify a value "<None>") Parameter 2 available values: Non query (no value specified) default values: from query (based on Parameter 1)
It seems to me that the default value in SSRS 2000 is considered as cascading parameter. But it is no longer the case in SSRS 2005.
Is this a SSRS 2005 bug? is there any other work arounds or suggestions?
I have a tabe in my sql server 2005 database which contains a long description and I want to display the first 100 charactors on my web page but not sure how to do this I can only display the whole description. I'm not sure if I need to write the query to the database so it only brings the first 100 charactors back or query the whole description and then take the first 100 charactors in asp.net and display that can any one help

I have a table with a datetime field (named "lnDateDone") and an integer field (named "PlannedHour"). I want to build a new datetime field with the same value as lnDateDone and replacing the hour part by the PlannedHour field. Example:
lnDateDone = '2014-04-09 13:22:31.544' HourPlanned = 14 new datetime field = '2014-04-09 14:00:00'
I tried the following:
CAST(SUBSTRING(CAST(lnDateDone AS VARCHAR(25)),1,12) + CAST(PlannedHour AS VARCHAR(2)) + SUBSTRING(CAST(lnDateDone AS VARCHAR(25)), 15, LEN(lnDateHeureFin)) AS SMALLDATETIME) AS DatePrevue
but it won't work when casted in DateTime format, only in varchar, but I want it in datetime as I need to do compute some values using date manipulation functions.

How can I display data that only compare the date part (ignoring the time part) between the value of the date parameter and the database?. It displays data only if I pass the whole date (date and time)
I tried with the following query in the report services 2000, but it even didn't pass the query parse
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE (CONVERT(CHAR(8), table.PRODUCTION_DATE, 112) = CONVERT(CHAR(8), @parameterDate, 112))
I am inserting date and time data into a SQL Server 2012 Express table from an application. The application is providing the date and time as a string data type. I have 2 tables (table1KKK, table2KKK), and want to run the same query on them by using parameter with the value "1" or "2". Is it possible to use that parameter as a part of the queried table name? Something like (only for demonstration €“ doesn€™t work): Select * From table +myParameter + kkk Thanks in advance!
I think this is a simple question but I am just not sure how to do it right, as a newbie.
All I want to do is generate a report of company employees grouped by their date of hire.
SELECT DateOfHire, FirstName, LastName from Empls ORDER BY DateOfHire
The only problem is that the DateOfHire displays as, e.g., '01/03/2004 12:00:00' which is not what I want. I SIMPLY WANT TO OMIT THE TIME PART but don't know quite how to say this. I tried several variations along this line but it causes scoping errors...
SELECT CONVERT(Varchar(10), DateOfHire, 101) AS DOHDateOnly, FirstName, LastName, State FROM EMPL GROUP BY DOHDateOnly
but this gives error
"The value expressions for the textbox DateOfHire refers to the field DOHDateOnly. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope."
Which makes sense, but I don't know HOW to say the right thing to get what I want.
Hi, Could you tell me if this is possible? How do I return results using an entire column as part of the search parameter? I need to do this in the sql rather than selecting the contents and iterating through it as it would take too long.
eg. CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tPopupKeywords]( [id] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT FOR REPLICATION NOT NULL, [title] [nvarchar](255) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL, [description] [nvarchar](2000) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL ) ON [PRIMARY]
INSERT INTO dbo.tPopupKeywords(title, description) SELECT 'check', 'desc' UNION ALL SELECT 'for', 'desc' UNION ALL SELECT 'keywords', 'desc'
select dbo.tpopupkeywords.title where 'This is an example of a passed in string to check if any keywords are returned.' LIKE '% ' + dbo.tpopupkeywords.title + ' %' --Does this bit need to do a select??
I'm stuck on converting a datetime field to Int. Basically, one of the fields in the select returns the datetime of a journey. However I need to be able to add up the number of days for a specific person who done that journey, e.g. it will return 21/08/2014, 22/08/2014 etc...
I then need to total up the days as a new field to display the number of days.
Can you do this by converting a datetime to int then use COUNT on the int?
I have a reportmodel where i have the a datetime value (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mms), a salespersonid , a salespersondescription, and an amountsold.
i would like to display a report where i can see per hour (start worktime is 8 am and end is 8 pm) which salesperson sells the most. the objectif of this report is to see in what period of the day the sales are highest.
Can anybody provide me some tips how to accomplish this.
I have a requirement to display the elapsed time between two datetime fields. What i have been able to do is datediff the dates and get the elapsed time in minutes and then i am trying to format it as HH:MM.
For example, an activity started on Nov 1 2007 08:00 and finished Nov 1 23:59, the elapsed time should be displayed as 15:59.
The other example is if the activity spans over a couple of days, it should be say 49:03.
I put the following code in the format of the textbox, but it only seems to work when the length of the minutes is greater than 1.
