I have a chart with columns on it, and my boss wants me to display the height of each column on the chart.
Is there a way to do this? I've googled it some, and searched around in the chart properties, but I couldn't find anything.
Some labels such as 33314 are displaying over the columns. I need all labels to display at the top. How can I fix this without changing the size of the chart?

Â My present chart is only suitable when one Specialty is selected. Â Therefore I only want this to be visible when the user has selected one Specialty. Â I am planning to create a second chart which is suitable for than more than one selection. So if the user selects more than one Specialty the existing chart will not be visible and instead will be replaced by the second.I think this should be done using Chart Properties>Visibility but cannot develop the logic of the expression.

We have a line graph which plots the actual data points (x,y), everything is working fine with this graph. Now we need to add a trend line to this existing graph after going thro. the articles we came to know that there is no direct option in SSRS to draw a trend line. So we need to calculate the trend values ourselves which we need to plot as atrend line. This trend line is similar to the trend line which comes in Excel chart, do anyone know how to calculate the trend values from the actual data points. We got through several formulas, but were not clear, have anyone tried out exactly the same, if so please help us out by providing an example to calculate the trend values.

This is my issue. I have values in my table that I need to format as a percent. So when I use the FormatPercent() function, it works but if one of the records has no value for that field. It generates a #Error message in that textbox. I tried using an if statement and that didn't work either. Someone please help me with this. Any information is appreciated.
am using a line chart to display series of results over time - data is got from and AnalysisServices cube.
problem is that sometimes there is no value for the result - and the chart doesnt display that as zero
e.g. with the following data
week 1 10 items
week 2 12 items
week 3 14 items
week 4 8 items
week 6 12 items
the chart will join the week 4 result of 8 items directly to the week 6 result of 12 items
is there anyway of changing this so the line goes from 8 items on week 4 to ZERO items on week 5 and then 12 items on week 6 ???

I´m working with chart type bar (Simple Bar) and i received four values from stored procedure, all values are negative numbers. The Reporting Service shows the values in the chart, but, doesn't show the "bars".... If one of four values will be positive, the report shows the values and the "bars" but if all values will be negative, the report shows just de values.
What do I do for the bars appear with four negative values ?

I have just developed my first full package and it has been, ahem, an adventure- but I can see the power of SSIS. I am splitting 1M rows in to up to 11 parts (therefore up to 11M rows) for several files and it takes a matter of seconds!
I have used some variables in the package and would like to see the results of these at the end of execution. They are purely for interest at the moment.
I think I can output them to a flat file, but is it possible to output them to the Immediate window at the end of execution?
I can not figure out how to have a watch on them either- is this possible? Ideally I would like a counter on screen next to my loop containers.
All of the web pages I have seen regarding debugging seem to assume that VB is being used to create the package.

At the top of my report, if I want to display the selected value for a given
parameter, I can put this expression in a text box:
="The xyz param's value is: " & Parameters!paramXYZ.Label(0).ToString
How do I go about displaying all the selected values for a multi-value
parameter (one that has mulitple checkboxes in the drop-down list)? Is it
possible to do a for loop and iterate through the values of the param within
an expression? Something like
for i = 0 to Parameters!paramXYZ.Count - 1
mystring = mystring & ", " & Parameters!paramXYZ.Label(i).ToString
And then display mystring in the textbox? Or can I use a list control on the
report?

I am facing some problems in displaying data in a chart on a report. Let me give you a background on the report
The report has 8 parameters, Industry,CType,PType, S#, ECode, Start Date, End Date and Trend.
The layout of the report has a table and a chart.
Both the table and the chart need to display Normalized Value ( count of ECode / count of PType that are closed in the date range selected) and the Trend ( where the trend can be Weekly, Monthly, Yearly or Quarterly).
Both the chart and the table should display the data for the entire date range i.e if the Trend is Month and the Date Range is Jan 2007 Jan 2008, then the table and the chart should display months from Jan 2007, Feb 2007 .... Jan 2008 irrespective of whether or not there are error codes present for that month.
In order to satisfy the point 4 mentioned above, we have created the main dataset in such a way that it would have one row for each day between Jan 2007 to Jan 2008. Any fields that do not have data corresponding to a date will come up as NULL in the dataset.
Now, we need to display a chart in the report which would be a Trend v/s the Normalized Value chart for each ECode. So, we have put in the Normalized value in the 'Value' field of the chart, Trend group in the 'Category' field of the chart and ECode in the 'Series' group of the chart. The chart displays fine except for one extra series for the NULL values in the Error Code ( the one in green below). Is there any way in which we can do away with this NULL series without changing the dataset? I tried using filters for the 'Series' but it doesn't work ( used filters like <>NULL, <> "" , <>Nothing, cstr(ECode) <> NULL/"" etc ).
Hi to everyone.I have this problem in my chart control in report.I am retrieving datas from my database.My x-axis is consist of dates of the year,y-axis is the hit counts.My problem here is when i only have hits in only one month(ex december) and almost over 20 hits are retrieved,the bars of my graph become so overcrowded and overlayed which make the value unclear to see.And also another thing is my legend repeats the color when there are too much data.is there anyway to fix this or this is just a ReportingService bug??Hope not..hehe.. I want to display some numbers in the same line as a concatenated string. For example a Customer may have multiple bills. These bill numbers are displayed in separate rows. I want to display them all on the same line.
Example of current display:
Customer Bill #
ABC Company 123

ABC Company 789 etc
I want this to display as below:
Cusotmer Bill #
ABC Company 123, 456, 789, etc.
Is this possible in SSRS. Please help me with the syntax.

I extracted data from a flat file using SSIS package and load them into destination table. One column contains no data. Data type of that column is varchar(9). I want to display "NULL" values in that column.
I used LOOK up transformation and used the following query.

But it gives a error message.

I have a report I'm writing and have got a problem that has stumped me.
The data the report is based in is in this format:
Date Type
1/1/08 A
1/3/08 B
3/1/08 C
3/5/08 B
3/10/08 A
3/12/08 C
3/20/08 A
Management wants a report showing a line chart that summarizes the data by Month and by Type. So, there are 2 series depending on the Type and data values are based on the count of each Type. So, in the example above the x-axis group would be month, the values would be count(Type) and there would be 2 series €“ Series 1. A, B and Series 2. C
I€™ve defined the x-axis to be Month(Fields!DateOccured.Value). However, they want the x-axis to show every month for the entire year not just what is in the database. So, I defined the x-axis to have a scale of 1 to 12 and the major interval is set to 1. This displays 1 through 12 on the x-axis.
The problem is when there is no data (null) for a particular month. Instead of showing 0, the line chart does not plot anything and the line is drawn to the next displayed point. So, for example on the data above the line chart would plot:
January
Series 1 €“ Qty. 2 Series 2 €“ Qty. 0
February
Null
March
Series 1 €“ Qty. 3 Series 2 €“ Qty. 2
The line chart would draw a line from January to March skipping February. I need to display the null values as 0 and not null indicating no occurrences for the month rather than no data present.

I can't figure out how to get my line chart to break when there isn't a value. For example, I have a trend line over 4 time periods. The 3rd time period is missing a value. Instead of the line ending at the 2nd period and picking up again at the 4th time period, it's connecting the line 2nd to the 4th period. I'd like it to break and for there to be no line appearing in the 3rd period. I bet that's as clear as mud, but let me know if you have any questions.

Im having a couple of problems with SQL.
I have this query...
SELECT Band.Name, Member.Name
FROM Member
JOIN MemberOf ON Member.Mid = MemberOf.Mid
JOIN Band On MemberOf.Bid = Band.Bid
WHERE MemberOf.Instrument = 'keyboards';
which basically shows me the name of the bands who had keyboard players. I would like it to also display the names of the band who didnt have keyboard players, replacing the keyboard players name with "NULL".
so... my questions are :)
how do u get it to display the records that do not match the condition, and how do u get it to replace the keyboard players name with "NULL" when they do not match the condition.
PS. The three tables are
Band. Which has Bid as a primary key.
Member. Which has Mid as a primary key.
MemberOf. Which links these through its two foreign keys Mid and Bid.

In the pie chart I want to plot only TotalForRetire and TotalForDisability and TotalForOrange
In the bar chart I want to plot only TotalForRetire,dummy1,TotalForRelatives.
Also, here I want the horizontal axis not to show the label  for dummy1 as the value is 0. How can i do that for each chart?
Currently I report our monthly fees broken down into 4 weeks per month by using 4 separate datasets with the following code

If I could somehow with SQL tie in all 4 separate datasets and display them as Week 1, 2, 3 and 4 underneath the dataset and selectable.An even simpler solution maybe just understanding how charts work, I can get it so I display the 4 separate weeks in the chart however I can't get the bottom line (Category Group) to display Week 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I need to know what means are available to change the Minimum and Maximum Y-Axis scale values rather than leave them simply as they are in the properties.
Right now whatever min/max values I enter into the scale for the Y-Axis are unchangeable.
I need to be able to change the min/max scale values based on the value of the data at run time.

I am using the below expression for hidding the zero data labels in ssrs chart.=IIF(Fields!Name.Value=0,False,True). But this expression is working for some other charts. It is not wrking for only charts. I could not find the solution for that. How to hide the zero values.

The above chart has three Values in it (slightly late in pink, rather late in hot pink and very late in red). Because of the ordering of these values the red very late values can't be seen. When I shuffle the order around slightly they are indeed there:

Is it possible to set the Values/Series to be transparent so I can be assured that all will be visible to the user at runtime?
I have a line chart which works great except when the x axis displays duplicate months. I have tried format codes of MM-YYYY and MMM and have the "numeric or time-scale values" checkbox checked. The data displays fine but the X axis in the case of the MMM format code displays as:

leaving the user to wonder where exactly does October and November start...
I've googled around but don't see off-hand what I am doing wrong. I am display 3 simultaneous lines if that matters...

When I export the report in excel format the chart is displayed as picture. 1) Bar chart that has data for 3 years (3 series)
2) Line chart that has the same data as per the above points on the bar chart but this is a running total. (3 series)
3) These data points are for the 12 months
4) there should be a secondary axis for the cumulative one

I have a simple-column chart and in the x-axis I put the date values and in the y-axis the sale price values.
The chart works perfectly in the case when there is only one sale price for the same date. But, when the price changes during the same day, then there is problem. In the following example

3/1/2007 8
the chart will have three columns and in the date 2/1/2007 will display the min or max of the two values. What I need is to represent all the values i.e. the chart must have four columns , as much as the rows of the dataset

I used to do this with classic asp but I'm not sure how to do it with .net.Basically I would take a table of Categories, Then I would loop through those. Within each loop I would call another stored procedure to get each item in that Category. I'll try to explain, Lets say category 2 has a player Reggie Bush and a player Drew Brees, and category 5 has Michael Vick, but the other categories have no items.Just for an example..
