Do We Have Any Driver For SAP BW Other Than Mysap Business Suite
May 19, 2008
this is my second post regarding this SAP Driver.
SAP-BW (source)
mdx
SQL Server DB (destination)
i tried to connect to SAP (we are using SAP Logon software to connect to SAP-BW) this application software is provided with SAP Connector an OLEDB Driver for SAP. i think programmatically we can connect and get data from SAP via mdx or Bex queries.
i need this has to be done with our SSIS Package.
is that possible in SSIS?
please give me some good news. i'm doing in circular path. programmatically i'm firing a mdx query and getting an xml from the dataset and feeding that xml to my SSIS package ino order to load the data in to sql server database.
I have read somewhere that any integration technology wrt SAP has to be SAP certified.
If no, what are the implications of using this in a project? will SAP refuse to support the customer because they are using a non-SAP certified product?
I am pulling data out of SAP ECC 6 to MS SQL server 2005 from Task - Import data .Net Framework Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite
The data which I am getting out of SAP gets multiplied by 1000 i.e. Table CE1LSC0 has field VVQTY which is Quantity€¦ The value of quantity in SAP is 8.0 when I pull in by the aforesaid tool it come as 8000.00.
Do anyone has any idea what is going wrong, I even ask the basis guys to reinstall the Function module required for .Net Framework Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite in SAP.
I uninstalled .Net Framework Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite tool and reinstalled it but still I am encountering the same problem.
Does anyone know if there is a x64 version of the Microsoft .NET Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite for use with SSIS? On the SAP site, I found a librfc32.dll which works under x64, but the x86 SAP Connector can't use it.
we collect data from SAP via the Data Provider for MySAP Business Suite. Everything works fine for Standard objects like KNA1 etc. but if we try to read data from a custom table we get the following error:
Code Snippet
Fehler bei Get ZZEUSGRP_WA [SAP ZZEUSGRP_WA [1]]: Microsoft.Adapter.SAP.SAPManagedProviderException: Table class INTTAB is not supported. bei Microsoft.Adapter.SAP.SAPSelectHandler.CheckResult(SAPTable returnTab) bei Microsoft.Adapter.SAP.SAPSelectHandler.ExecuteSelect(SAPTable tabFields, SAPTable tabStruct_Tab.... The error message tells me not to use a specific table type. So far so good. The question is: What would be the workaround? What should I tell the SAP team who cares for the data structures?
Does anyone know if there are any licence implications (SAP side) against Microsoft .NET Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite?
I heard from a colleague that if my SQL Server has (for example) 5 users, if SQL does connect to SAP, it would require the user license of 5 more users?
If there any implications similar to this one with SAP?
I installed sql server 2005 sp2 including business intelligence development suite , however I got a message some client components not compablitable .This morning I searched my programs and found that I have new visual studio 2005 on my computer (before I just had vs 2008) as well as business intelligence developer (which does not work) It seems I I would like to get rid of vs 2005 also fix business intelligence studio . Previously I deleted vs 2005 express off my computer........(I have vista and I would only like to keep tools meant for sql standard 2005 reporting services etc here is a list of my sql sp2 install package By the way I doubled clicked sql_tools.msi and did not run as administrator Does that make a difference? I wonder if this is a problem with vs 2008 and sql 2005......

Does anyone have a successful prescribed sequence for installing VS2005 and Business Intelligence Reports Projects on a Vista Business workstation to be used to create reports for a server?
I've looked through everything I can find here and I don't seem to see a clear solution without a lot of trial and error.
Fact is, I've not been successful getting just the reports to install on a plain XP box. Of course, the report creation looks fine on the server but I don't want to work directly on the server.
Can anyone take me through synchronization of contacts within Business Contacts Outlook into Microsoft Small Business Accounts?
I run a stand alone PC with NO network. When SBA came SQL was also installed. Apparently you can synchronise Contacts within Business Contacts with SBA but both SBA & Outlook should work through the same SQL server.
I tried to connect to a SAP with the .Net data provider. Either in SSIS or in C# custom code (using SapConnection class) when I try to open the connection I receive a :
The operation could not be completed. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A procedure imported by 'GInvoker, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' could not be loaded. (Microsoft.Adapter.SAP.SAPProvider) ------------------------------ The specified procedure could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007F) ------------------------------
I doesn't matter of the connection parameter (server, user, pwd, sysnr, etc). ; I can leave it blank or fill correctly the error occurs. I guess it is a missing dll...
On the machine where I do the tries THERE is the Sap Gui installed (with the librfc32.dll in windowssystem32)
I'm writing a Test Suite up for a client and currently I'm working on some Tests that assert the state of the database before and after various persistence opertions. The client uses identity columns for their keys so they are involved in the asserts. To ensure the identity values are easy to assert, each test reseeds them to the required value prior to running the persistence operation.
This works well almost all of the time except just after running the DDL to create the tables for the test suite (Which our continuous integration server does every time it runs the suite).
What looks to be happening is if a reseed call occurs for a new table that has never had an insert then the the value given to the reseed function (rf) is used as the identity value for the first insert for that table. In all other cases it's rf + 1.
I.e.
Case A)
DDL run, table never had an insert: DBCC CHECKIDENT ('table', RESEED, 0);Then the first insert into the table will have value identity value 0
Case B)
Normal run table has had > 0 inserts. DBCC CHECKIDENT ('table', RESEED, 0);In this case the next insert will have identity value 1
Is this behaviour correct? If it is can anybody suggest a means of detecting the special first case?
trying to install sql server2005 on a windows 2003 server box.
getting msg below at the sql server . i looked at other posts on trying to uninstall SQL Native Access Client and norton antivirus. i could never find the snac on the add - remove programs and this server does not have a virus protection program yet.
here's the history of the installs on the server:
wanted to test a 2005 upgrade so:
1) installed sql server 2000 then sp4 then restored some databases to it - all OK
2) tried to upgrade to sql 2005 but ran into problems and left it at that.
had a disk drive crash on the d drive so lost the installs but not the operating system
when the drive was replaced, left alone for a while
then wanted to test a straight 2005 install
1) removed the broken 2005 attempt
2) removed the 2000
3) installed 2005 and got the error on the subject line:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup ------------------------------
SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified Refer to server error logs and setup logs for more information. For details on how to view setup logs, see "How to View Setup Log Files" in SQL Server Books Online.
i've gone through as many of the forums that i can and have tried several things - like uninstalling 2005 and installing pieces and parts but but nothing seems to work.
i am attempting to run phpbb using ms sql 2005 on the same box but get the following error during the setup
Could not connect to the database, see error message below. [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
i am not sure yet if this is an issue with sql, php or phpbb
php is installed in iis and has all the modules installed which the php msi installer supported. i can run php code but in this case when i'm running the install.php file for the phphbb setup, i fill in the values for the database and got that error
phpbb detects all the required server settings and sees that i have ms sql installed
any suggestions on what that error means or how to go about configuring odbc driver?
probably a simple issue. but i'm still new with sql stuff
Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).
Hi,Could some please tell me whether Microsoft provides Type 2 and Type 4jdbc driver ? For Type 4 MS providescom.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver driver. What is thecofiguration required for type 2 driver and what driver class filesrequired ?Its very urgent to me please reply.Ajay
I had to do a re-install of SQL 2005 Standand Edition. I now do not have the BI, I do not know if it came with it or not. What would I need to install ifit did? I also wanted to ask: I know that MS Office Excel has the capabilites to sames as an XML file, but it is not very readable to import into the SQLdatabase. Is there a way to import the XML file into the database via one of the express editions? Thank youDee
Ok, probibly an easy question but I haven't been able to find what I am looking for.
If I have a simple class (see below), how would I make the People List avalible to build a report off of?
Thanks

Code Snippetpublic class Person { public string FirstName { get; set;} public string LastName { get; set;} }
// and put them into a list List <Person> People = new List<Person>(); People.Add(new Person () { FirstName = "Joe", LastName = "User"}); People.Add(new Person () { FirstName = "Jane", LastName = "Smith"});
I've created a store dimension. Within the store dimension is a CityID column that is related to a City dimension. Currently this city dimension has the following columns:
CityID (primary key --- foreign key for the StoreDim) CityName CountyName StateName CountryName ...
My SCD's source is being loaded from a query to a Zip table that contains ZipCodes along with cityID, CountyID, StateID, and CountryID that can be joined out to their respective tables to find the information needed to populate my SCD. However, cities can have several number of zipcodes and several cities in different states can have the same names. This causes a problem with eliminating duplicates for my dimension as well as finding a suitable business key.
For example, let's take a case: Washington city, District of Columbia (county), District of Columbia (state), USA (Country) Now, this city has SEVERAL zip codes so when I create my joins:
SELECT ... FROM Zip Z INNER JOIN City C ON C.CityID = Z.CityID INNER JOIN County Cty ON Cty.CountyID = Z.CountyID
So this returns several CityIDs for the same city... which when I try to use for my SCD causes problems because i have several business keys based off my CityIDs so my dimension loaded would look like
CityID CityDesc CountyDesc StateDesc CountryDesc 1 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA 2 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA 3 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA 4 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA
I want to have just ONE record in my dimension for this city.... How would I do this and what would I use for a business key? Also any recommendations on which of these attributes should be historical attributes? I would appreciate any input you guys have.
The Business Intelligence isn't showing up in the menu with ( Visual Basic, Visual C##, etc). A teckie installed the pro version and said she installed everything, can some one point me in the right direction. We purchase the media and installed from that.
Or maybe it can't find something it's looking for to make my additional symetrical with everything else. This is from one of my businesslogic files. What causes Visual Studio to not allow me to add something here and have it behave like the other parameters/ I'm talking about ShortDesc. Visual studio inserted () and the Get instead of GET like all the others. It would not allow me to capitalize the "get". There has to be a reason for this. Currently my program is adding all of the fields except the ShortDesc to the table in my database. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this is the case?

I am trying to calculate business hours that an order that is open. The rules are 8am-5pm. For instance the first row, the clock would stop at 17:00, and pick up again at 8am and add on to total business hours. If the order was created after business hours, and the endstamp was before business hours, this would be 0. If created after 5pm friday, and the endstamp was before 8am monday, this would be 0. In the second set of timestamps I have here the order was recieved at 14:39 but took until the following day at 14:49 to be ordered. I imagine I have to use datepart and datediff for this, but other than that I am not sure on how to do it. Any help would really be appreciated!
I'm looking for a DATEDIFF function which will give me the BUSINESS days difference between 2 dates. e.g: datediff(day,'08/08/2007','08/14/2007) would normally result in 6 (i think), however in business days this would be 4. is there such a function? Thx
I am attempting to compute Service Levels for an interaction based upon business hours. For example, an email arrives at 4pm and is handled the following day at 10am. Call Center Hours are 8-5.
Essentially I have a number of different alternatives, and have found some potential solutions, including:
www.dbforums.com/arch/7/2003/9/914261
However, my situation has a couple of additional twists to the standard 8hrs of business M-F. The call center is open different hours depending upon the day of the week. For example, 8-5 M, 10-7 T, 8-5 W Th F, 10-2 Sat, 10-12 Sun
Additionally, I would like to remove Holiday's from the calculation for service level as well.
I have explored a number of different table DTD's, but none seem to be a perfect fit for determining the number of "open" hours between when an interaction arrived, and when it was handled.
The DTD I have for the Holiday table is as follows:
CREATE Table Holidays (HolidayDate DateTime) GO Insert Into Holidays (HolidayDate) Values ('12-25-2004')
Please let me know what you feel would be the DTD for storing the business hours and also the query for extracting the number of Open hours between two dates
Sorry, didn't quite know where this should go. I'm reading Kimball Group's "Microsoft Data Warehouse Toolkit" Has anyone got any experience in defining business processes? I'm struggling a little to look at my employer's recruitment busines and work out exactly what the real processes are. Or maybe one of you has read something somewhere about this specific skill?
------------------------ Me: What do you want to know from your data warehouse? Client: Err...Emm...Everything Me: OK, that's great. That's all I need to know. I'll see you when it's done.
SQL BI Dev Studio is installed our SQL 2005 Server, however, it also needs to be on the person who is developing reports. I've already given her access to the sql db she will be working with. Can I install just the BIDS be installed on her desktop from the SQL CD?
