Root Element MIssing && For Security Reasons DTD Is Prohibited In This XML Document

Aug 10, 2007

This error comes up in the print preview and nothing prints.

We are using VS-2005, SQL 2005 and SSRS 2005.

We had the same problem yesterday , so we have reinstalled IIS, .Net Framework 2.0 and Reporting Services, then reconfigured RS security, uploaded all the reports and enabled remote errors. After doing everything this error was gone and we were operating pretty fine.

Suddenly just we started getting the same annoying message."ROOT ELEMENT MISSING" from Report Server and from Report Manager we have "
For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method. "

Please Help. I need to fix this ASAP.

Problems With Change Sql Permissions After Migrating Domain User/group Accounts Into Root Domain

Apr 5, 2007

I have a root domain and child domain.

After using ADMT to migrate the domain user or group into the root domain, when I use enterprise manager to try and change the permissions allocated to that domain user/group, i get the 'Error 15401 NT user or Group not found'.

This is a correct error as the user is now in the root domain, however sql (in sysxlogins) still thinks its in the child domain.

Is there a simpler way, other than collecting the users permissions, deleting the user from SQL then adding back in with the correct domainusername format, then adding the permissions back?

I tried renaming the 'name' in sysxlogins (not recommended) and while that worked, whenever I tried to add the migrated user to another database, the login name was missing and would not resolve.

I believe it is something to do with the SID not matching.

Any ideas on how to fix this ?

Extract Text From Sqlserver Varbinary (office Document)

Dec 5, 2007

Hi all,I've the following scenario: One Full Text Search enabled SQL Server Table with one image type field that holds document uploaded from users. The idea is to store binary document(.doc. xls, .pdf, .ppt, html, .xml and so on) and using SQL server full text search i can retrieve record that contains certaind word or words.I have no problems with them. So imagine i do a simple select * from Documents where a=b and i get one collumn with binary document field. With this scenario, i want to "extract" that text from that document + 20 words left and 20 right to show user some info and help him to search desired document (not only for its type or title). Like search engines do.But believe me, i cant find out any component, class or something to do such a thing.I think, the hard work is done with full text search engine...Sql server has that data, but it can decodeI'm so desperate. I would accept answers such "sorry, it can't be done", from a experienced user, but i need to know  Thanks in advance

Error - Document Contains One Or More Extremely Long Lines Of Text

May 6, 2008

Hi,

I've created a dataset with 27 measures and 20 query parameters. When attempting to load the report containing this dataset I'm shown the message;

'Document contains one or more extremely long lines of text. These lines will cause the editor to respond slowly when you open the file. Do you still want to open the file.'

If I do open the file it does indeed respond very slowly or even hangs.

I can manually format the XML code but amending the code in any way (i.e. using the layout designer to move a chart) removes my formatting and re-introduces the problem.

Are these an unreasonable amount of measures / parameters?

Environment;
VS2005 v8.0.507
MSSQL 2005 9.00.1399.06 Build 3790 SP2
Windows Server 2003 SP2

Many thanks.

Full Text Index For AdventureWorks Document Table

May 29, 2006

I am working the Books Online documentation for the full-text search feature of SQL Server 2005 Express Advanced and having a problem following the instructions.

I made sure to choose the "Full Text Search" option during installation of VB 2005 Express Advanced.

I downloaded, installed, and attached the AdventureWorks database successfully.

I checked to ensure that the database was enabled for full-text search, but could not follow the instructions for indexing a table within the database. Here are the instructions from Books Online:
To enable a table for full-text indexing

Expand the server group, expand Databases, expand User Databases, and expand the database that contains the table you want to enable for full-text indexing.

Right-click the table that you want to enable for full-text indexing.

Select Full-Text index, and then click Enable Full-Text indexing.

Another document notes:

To create a full-text index on a table, the table must have a single, unique not null column. For example, consider a full-text index for the Document table in Adventure Works in which the DocumentID column is the primary key column.

When I right-click the Document table (Production.Document) in the AdventureWorks database, there is no option to "Select Full-Text Index" or "Enable Full Text indexing".

Am I missing something here?

How do I get the the table indexed for full text search?

Full Text Indexing :: Document Similarity Search

Jan 28, 2008

Hi

I have a Full Text index on a table with an image field that is successfully indexing .doc, .pdf and .rtf files.

Keyword searching this is no problem.

What i want to be able to do is perform a similarity search. by this i mean pass in a Key_ID (documentID) and have the database return a list of Key_IDs (documents) which are similar.

By similar i mean contain mostly the same keywords in roughly the same quantities

Thanks

How To Change Text On Web Automatically From Reading A SQL Server?

Jun 17, 2004

A section of this company's intranet site where I just started interning at has little company anniversary and birthday sections that look like (for the anniversary section.. in the birthday section, it looks the same, except it doesn't say how old the comployee is):

-Steve Cunningham 6/1 - 6 yrs
-Andrew Brown 6/3 - 11yrs
-Lisa Stone 6/4 - 3 yrs

How can I get it so instead of manually changing that text every month, it will look at a SQL database and automatically change that text every month? I'm guessing the pseudocode would be if the b-day or anniv. month matches the current month, display the first and last name, the date, and number of years (which would have to be calculated maybe?) Any help would be GREAT! Thanks!!

Importing Text File: How To Dynamically Change The Row Delimiter

Jul 22, 2004

Hi,

I have a dts package that imports a number of text files into a SQL Server 2000 database table. The package has been set up to accept a text file with a row delimiter of carriage return and line feed ({CR}{LF}). Some of the text files I receive only have a line feed ({LF}) as the row delimiter and the dts package fails the file. Is there an activex script i can use that will scan the file and change the row delimiter as required?

i was going to use the filesystemobject which allows me to read a line at a time, however the Readline method doesn't read the new line character. The text files are too big to read into one variable and then do a replace.

Any help would be appreciated

I am using SQL Server 2000 SP3, Windows Server 2000 and Windows XP Professional. All systems are fully patched

Update On Large Table - Change Data Type For Text Column

Dec 10, 2014

I need to update a large table, about 55 million rows, without filling the transaction log, in the shortest time as possible. The goal is to alter the table and change the data type for Text column from VARCHAR(7900) to NVARCHAR(MAX).

Since I cannot do it with an ALTER TABLE statement (it would fill up the transaction log) I'm thinking to:

- rename column Text in Text_OLD
- add Text column of type NVARCHAR(MAX)
- copy values in batches from Text_OLD to Text

The table is defined like:

create table DATATEXT(
rID INTEGER NOT NULL,
sID INTEGER NOT NULL,
pID INTEGER NOT NULL,
cID INTEGER NOT NULL,
err TINYINT NOT NULL,

[Code] ....

I've thought about a stored procedure doing this but how to copy values in batch from Text_OLD to Text.

The code I would start with (doing just this part) is the following, but maybe there are more efficient ways to do it, or at least there's a better way to select @startSeq in the WHILE loop (avoiding to select a bunch of 100000 sequences and later selecting the max).

declare @startSeq timestamp
declare @lastSeq timestamp
select @lastSeq = MAX(sequence) from [DATATEXT] where [Text] is null
select @startSeq = MIN(Sequence) FROM [DATATEXT] where [Text]is null
BEGIN TRANSACTION T1
WHILE @startSeq < @lastSeq

[Code] ....

Master Database On Root Drive??

Apr 3, 2002

I have a 'need an opinion' question. I've always installed the system databases (master, msdb, model, tempdb) on the root drive (c:) with the sql application. Then I was thinking, the only things that really should be on the root drive is the sql app itself (and any other required apps). So...my question is, do y'all install the master, etc on a separate drive other than the root, ie d: or e:? The reason I ask is that if the tempdb database has alot of activity, and the database resides on the root drive, could it affect sql performance?

Just wondering. I just started working in a 'virgin' sql environment (setting up sql servers from scratch), and want to have sql installed in the best possible way for performance.

Thanks in advance for any info y'all can provide.
