Download Englisg Version Of SQL Server Express SP2
Mar 12, 2007
Hello group,
I am in Germany, and want to download the English version of SQL-Server Express SP2. But when I go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/
and click the download link there, it always wants to download SQLEXPR32_DEU.EXE.
DEU is for the German version. Does anybody know how I can get the English one?

I am trying to demo SQL Server Express
I have downloaded and installed SQL Server Express and also downloaded and installed SQL Server Express Service Release 2. I have also downloaded several of the Visual Studio tutorials about how to do things.
However, I have been unable to download SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition, nor SQL Server 2005 Books OnLine, nor SQL Server Samples so I really cannot do anything with the *#$@ thing.
There are no error messages. The downloads begin and then freeze after downloading about 3-4MB. They stay frozen until they time out. I have turned off all firewalls, virus protection, turned off all security in Internet Explorer. I thought at first it was because I had not yet registered but I registered and it still won't download. What else can be wrong?
I am on XP Prof SR 2, not vista, all my software is uptodate, in order to install SQL Server Express of course I downloaded and installed the required installation program and the Net version 2 Framework. Plenty of disk space, 2 GB of ram, dual processor Dell XPS PC on a DSL connection. I have read the info about reasons for download problems and have checked the bitsadmin service, downloaded the update for it (it told me I already had it) and downloaded the latest version of Windows Support Tools and ran the bitsadmin /util /repairservice /force and it said all was fine. I tried it on a second machine with same results. I am not a beginner, I have been writing code for Access for several years. "Support" says this forum is the only place to go since I refuse to pay them $99 to help me demo what is theoretically a sample piece of free software.

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/trial-software.mspx#EZC
however I keep getting a page displaying a "Content Not Found" message. Would anyone be able to tell me is this the correct page or should I be downloading this from someplace esle?
Also does the Express edition contain a copy of Enterprise Manager?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone provide me with an alternate download link for SQL Server Management Studio Express?
My download attempts are stalling either immediately or after downloading under 200K. Other links I've found on the web seem to point back to Microsoft's servers, as I'm getting the same behavior. I successfully downloaded SQL Server Express, and have since rebooted and successfully downloaded files from other sites. Interestingly, I can't download the 64 bit version, either (I need 32 bit, but figured it was worth seeing whether 64 bit would download).
The filename of the file I can't download: SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi

I just upgraded my Sql Server to 2008 and I was hoping that the link found in this page would provide the download to SSMSE for Sql Server 2008, but it redirects me to 2005 version. I don't any instances running with Sql Server 2005 that I could access through SSMSE 2005, so I can't use it. Does anyone have the link for download to SSMSE 2008? Or should I downgrade? And if, how can I downgrade?
Thank you very much, sorry by my misspellings.

Sorry if this is going over old ground. I am trying to establish which version of SQL Express I have (Sounds daft I know!)
From Server Management app it tells me the following:
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express 9.00.2047.00
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2000.085.1117.00 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
Microsoft MSXML 2.6 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.42
Operating System 5.1.2600
Is SP! appropriate, or am I there already?
Best regards (ever so 'umble!)

I created an ASP application using Web Developer Express and SQL Server Express on my workstation. Everything works great. I copied the application and all files to my intranet server which is a 2003 server running Sharepoint. When I attempt to run the application from the server.Access to the ADO.net Managed Provider 'SqlClientFactory' was denied in the data source with ID 'SqlDataSource' because of security settingsIs there something in the web config that I must change or settings on the server that must be changed for the application to run?

When I installed VS 2005, it installed the default version of SQL Server 2005 Express that ships with Visual Studio 2005 installer media.
How can apply SQL Server 2005 Express SP1 to update this existing instance?
Currently, if I run this query:
SELECT @@version
I get the following:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (Intel X86) Oct 14 2005 00:33:37 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)
After applying SP1, I should get 9.00.2047.00.
Should I just go to this link and download & install the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP1:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/
Thank you,
Bashman

Hello,
at the moment I have the following problem:
We have installed a version of the MSDE 2000 Sp3 with our software since 2005. Now we install SQL Server Express 2005 in order to use the latest version and to be compatible with Vista.
We have never had any problems with the MSDE, so it was no problem that we installed the german version (by mistake) because there never was any output at installation time.
When we now upgrade the existing MSDE installing the new version of our software, there are often problems and there are error messages, unfortunately in german, which cannot be read by most of our international users.
The problem is, that there seems to be no possibility to upgrade the existing (german) MSDE with the english version of SQL Server Express 2005.
My question is, if it is possible to upgrade the german MSDE to the english SQL Server 2005 to enable our international users to read the error messages at installation time in english?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Peter

Hi
I have a PC running the 64 bit version of vista home premium (will be soon upgrading to ultimate).
On the download page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-au/express/bb410792.aspx for SQL Server Express under the section entitled SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 it mentions at the bottom of the page (referred by * & **) that there is a 64 bit install version available for both SQL Server & management Studio.
However, under the section entitled SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP2, there is no * or **. As far as I can tell, the Advanced services has Reporting Services as well.
So, what I am wondering is, can I specifically download the 64 bit versions of SQL server express & management studio and as well, download just the reporting services part of Advanced Services?
Kind regards
Ross

Our new version of a VB.net 2005 program uses
Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
While upgrading a client over PCAnywhere in another state, I inadvertantly installed
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services
I have had an absolute nightmare with SQL 2005 uninstalling it from a laptop on my desk, so you can understand why I don't want to try uninstalling the Advanced Services version on a computer over PCAnywhere.
However, the remote computer does not have IIS on it, which prompts a warning form Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services.
So, the simple question is, if the program works Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition then I assume it will work with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services, since it doesn't use any advance services.
Please advise.
Bob

I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition installed on my PC. I also have the Express Editions of VB and C# installed. Is there any purpose served in my installing SQL Express, also?
I've read comments that the Express languages can only connect to SQL Express databases and not SQL Server 2005 databases; however, I'm not sure how that is enforced. The 'connect to database' wizard does seem to be different in the Express IDE than it is in Visual Studio.
I've read other Express language references that say that they can only connect to SQL Server databases via something called User Instances; however, it's not clear to me if that infers that only SQL Express supports User Instances.
Regarding User Instances, it's not clear to me whether this technology is for single-user (i.e., exclusive) access or not. What scenarios are User Instances good for?

SQL Server 2005 full version is installed on a server computer. I installed MS VS 2005 Express edition on the server. As VS 2005 Express edition can only access to SQL Server 2005 Express edition, so a SQL Server 2005 Express edition has to be installed on the server. I wonder if both SQL Server 2005 full version and Express edition can be installed in the same computer.
Thanks,
Yabing

I have a windows 2003 server which has SQL 2005 Express with advanced services installed on it. Then a few weeks back the company purchased SQL server Standard Edition which comes with SQL Server Management Studio (which has more features than SQL Server Management Studio Express currently installed on the server where sql express is running)I have been trying to schedule a maintanance plan on the SQLExpress Instance database from the SQL Server Management Studio that came with the standard version of sql but i have not been able to have all SQL Server Management Studio functionality available when connected to the SQLExpress instance. So is there a way i can connect to the Express Instance from management studio(that comes with the standard edition of sql) and have all its functions available when working with a SQL express database. Or i must upgrade the express database?

Our application installation setup needs to be able to detect:
Is SQL Server 2005 Express Installed?
If false, run the SP2 Installation
Is SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Express SP1 Installed?
If false, run the SP2 Installation with Update Switch
Is SQL Server 2005 (not Express) Installed
If true, abort installation with a mesage.
Can you direct me to some documentation about testing for these environments or just if someone has some scripts that will run in InstallShield, that would be great.
ALSO, can you direct me to information about using the command line update switch for the Express SP2 Installer?
Thanks.

Hello,
My backup copy of SQL Server Express 2003 has been corrupted, and I can't find anywhere to download the older version.
I can't move to 2005, as the requirements say that I need to have .Net Framework of 2.0 or above, but - I'm working with an older system that uses 1.1
So - if someone could point me to a location that I could download this, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Robert

I am familiar with Access and I write a lot of asp queries connected to an Access db.
I am now working with a full blown SQL Server db.
I have accessed the tables using Express Management Tools, but now I want to know if I can create a report or export data form a SQL table into Excel like I can from Access.
I am currently using SQL Server Management Studio Express. I see there are other options to install, will any of these give me the tools I need to export?
Thanks

I'm trying to export a SQL 2005 express database to SQL 2000 without success, really a pain in the ass :-(
But I found that it may be a hope but I can't find the page to download the in this page mentioned additional download for SQL 2005 express that will add DTS functionality to it.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/msde2sqlexpress.mspx
"
DTS runtimeYesYes (Web download)"
Where can I find the additional package to add DTS to SQL2005 express ????
