View 4 RepliesI have defined the following to generate a matrix report
1. Row data: Country,region,state,Race,gender
(Red colored columns - Group1;
Blue colored columns - Group 2)
2. Column Data: Statistics as of (Date)
3. Value: household income
I'd like to be able to have a seperate drilldowns on group1 and group2. i.e drilling down on country, region, state shouldn't automatically expand/minimize race and gender. I played with the attributes of individual columns and edit groups of the same. But couldn't achive an independent drill down.
Income as of '05 Income as of '06
Country Region State Race Gender 100k 105k
Having independent drilldown on the group1 and 2 enables us to find out, for example, how many hispanics live in the region west coast. (in a typical tree like drill down, you need to expand country, region and state to get to Race)
How can create an independent drilldown on group1 and group2?
Yet another newbie question here in my quest to learn reporting services.
Is there a property I can set to automatically expand all drill-downs when a user goes to print a report? As it is now all the drill-downs remain collapsed when the user goes to print, which is problematic on large reports where there may be many records between groupings (users may expand one group containing 1000's of records, and then decide to simply print everything -- but they'll only get the expanded data -- I'd like to expand everything automatically and have it all print.)

I am experiencing some issue with drill through report parameter not getting selected some times.I have two reports parent and child. Both reports have total ten parameters and all are cascading parameters with multiple selection. The report, when drill through to child, first eight parameters selected as it in the parent report.But the ninth parameter not get selected with the default value which from parent report and the parameter populated with values.
The first two parameter type is date time and rest of them are text and all text type parameters available and default values are populated by query (Data set) only.
I have a requirement where i am converting a Crystal report into SSRS.
My data contains different groups where some of the sections should be suppressed based on Drill down group level.In crystal they are using DrillDownGroupLevel <> 1 .
I have a report that has a drill down option that shows all workgroups within a specific parent group and an interactive sorting ass well on both columns parent group & workgroup
This is displayed in pps combined with a SharePoint
The problem is that after sorting the parent group column by name I then press the drill through icon (+) next to it hopping to see all workgroups related to each parent group - but instead
I receive this Reporting Services Error :
The value for parameter 'SortItem' is not specified. It is either missing from the function call, or it is set to null. (rsMissingParameter)
If I don't press the sorting and just drill through it works fine. the sorting itself also works fine.
I'm new to the SSRS reports, I have a Drill Down report in that I had Customer data and its related Accounts are populating while expanding the (+) Customer now I need to add hyperlink to the associated Accounts .. How to achieve this.

I want to enable a drill down on a parent child hierarchy, just as it is possible in the Analysis Services.
An Example :
Hierarchy in a company : Jack (1) is the boss, Frank (2) and Andy (3) ar the Semi-Bosses , and Julia (4), Jane (5), Henry (6), Michael (7), Will (8) , Dave (9) are normal employees . Timmy(10) is a trainee. Furthermore Frank is responsible for Julia,Jane and Henry and Andy is responsible for Michael WIll and Dave. Dave is responsible for Timmy. So we get the following tree hierarchy structure.

I want to make a report, where I show the salary of each employee. But at first the user only sees 1, when he drills down he sees 2 and 3, too. When he drills down once more he sees 4 5 6 and 7 8 9, too (The user must be able to recognize which person is responsible for 456 and which for 789). And the last drill down shows 10, for which 9 is responsible ( exactly as it is possible in the analyis Service in the Cubebrowser)
I have read some posts where are MDX examples which are similar to my problem, but they did not solve my problem.

I have integrated my SSRS Drill though report in Web page and i could not able to find back button to go back to the original report. Unfortunately, i am not controlling the report viewer tool bar.Do we need to write some code to get it working.

When i click on 'Product ID' field in 'Product Details' report, It has to drill through to 'Sales by Product' which has a parameter 'Product ID' in it.
I have written the following javascript

When i drill through, field value is not passing to 'child product id' in sales by product. I have to give the value again in child report.
I am having difficulty in exporting a report to Excel that has drill-down grouping created in SSRS 2008 R2. I can export with the report expanded or with just the summary and both look fine, but when it gets to Excel it looses the toggle ability which I need for it to retain.

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 to Design my SSRS reports. The report viewer is using SharePoint 2010 SP1 integrated mode.
I am using a conditional statement to determine which report to drill to based on the SSRS textbox's column.

Works fine in Visual Studio. Once deployed to SharePoint though, the drill through returns an error that says report can't be found. So I added the .rdl to the conditional statement in the report Design.

It now works in SharePoint but not in Visual Studio...

I am using Report Builder 3.0 and i have report which has a drill down group. The report opens in a collapsed form.This report has interactive sorting on a column. But,when we drill down and sort the column, the group collapses and the details disappear.
In some posts, i have seen that instead of interactive sorting, people recommended a parameter. But i have to do interactive sorting only.
I have a drill down report which need to be exported to excel. But, when exporting to excel it shows many unwanted blank rows for a particular record due to the drill down option.
Is it possible to remove it?
I need to exclude the rows in yellow color when exporting to excel.
I have a report which takes around 5 seconds when run in BIDS but takes around 20 seconds when deployed on report server.Execution log says TimeDataRetrieval is around 3-4 seconds and rendering time is around 15-17 secs.From this report I am passing 8 parameters to a drill through report and there are 36 text boxes where I have defined these parameters for drill through action.All these parameters are populated in main dataset.When I deployed the same report without any drill through action and parameter, it takes 5 seconds.So I am suspecting that because of drill through parameters report is taking more rendering time on server.I am using 2008R2 and IE11.
Is it expected behavior that due to so many parameters for drill through action, report will take more rendering time?If yes, then why is it not taking same time in BIDS?
I am passing a field value from main report to a parameter in a drill through sub report. But some field values contain 'special characters'. Those field values that contain special characters are not working for drill through. Javascript code to include special characters to pass to sub report parameter?

Is there any way to not display the expression in the Total columns unless the report is expanded?
I have an SSRS report with groups that when exported to excel contains drill-in's (plus marks on left side). The issue I have is that for all the groups in the drill-in, those cells become merged. I want to keep the group drill-in but have the cells UNMERGED. I have heard this can be done with the RDL XML but I don't know what to modify to accomplish this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to develop a report from cube,and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report,then it open the drill through report with details.Here i passed the **(category,subcat,product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report.In my main report i have two columns .
columns are **Level** and **Salesamount**.
Values are like

**[-]subcat** **50**
**product** **30**
when i click on 100, parameters are passed & it open the detail report correctly, but when i click on 50,the values for subcat parameter is not getting values in detail report and same as the product also.

I have cube created, When I use the drill through option for some cells I get the the following message
'Unable to drill through. The operation requested failed due to timeout'
I tried setting connection timeout in the advanced tab of data Link properties to max(at the moment set to 15 seconds), But could not save that. The Analysis manager does not respond.
Any help please.

I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets?
Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.

Currently: We use currently devexpress reports and we have 2 languages(Arabic and English). the data in tables saved in two ways (Arabic and English). when the end user change the language of the web site the report data language changed when run it.
Example:
we have table with (ID, NAME_AR, NAME_EN, JobTitle_AR, JobTitle_EN). designed report will display(ID, NAME_EN, JobTitle_EN) . but the end user change the language of the system the report will

This is my problem:
I have a cube that I created in AS2005, I have a hierarchy and drillthrough action defined. When I create a pivot table in Excel based on that cube and I try to drill down on the cell in the pivot table I can not drill down to the next level. I get an error message: Cannot show or hide detail for
this selection. My hierarchy is based on Dimension Facility. Facility State is root level, facility zip is next level. When I'm in AS2005 and browse the cube, I'm able to drill down and drill through and see the hierarchy just fine. (Also, I find interesting that when I create a cube in excel, based on a two relational tables, I'm able to drill down. ) I have the Analsysis Services Add-on installed on my machine, so I have the Cube Analysis Menu item. But I can't seem to even drill-through. So, for now all I want to know is why can't I drill-down (i.e. double clicking on a cell and having the data related "explode" in the spread sheet) like it shows in the article written by William Pearson, titled September 12, 2005

Hi There,
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
