I need some help and feedbacks from other users that are currently running Reporting Services using DB2 as a database. I have been testing OLE DB and ODBC from Microsoft and IBM, and recently DB2 .Net Data provider from IBM.
We are currently running DB2 on z/os v 7, gateway v.8 fixpack 10. We will mainly be calling Stored Procedures on the DB2 and passing recordsets back to the client.
First I installed IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER v. 7.01.00.88, but I did not get this too work with reporting Services calling Stored Procedures, so I had too upgrade the driver to v8.01.10.812 to get it to work.
I have been in contact with Microsoft and they recommend using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 (30.sept 2005). I have tried too get this driver too work but I have problems configuring it. I think that it has something too do with some packages that the driver tries too create on DB2. I get error messages both on the DB2 and in the Data access Tool that runs a wizard setting up the driver. '€”The package creation process has failed on resource "mytest", Data description mismatch SQLSTATE:HY000, SQLCODE: -292'
IBM have also developed a IBM DB2 Data provider for .Net Framework 2.0. This is the only driver that I can use too browse the database in the Server Explorer in VS. If you edit the RSReportDesigner.config file you can also use this driver in Report Server projects. Just add <Extension Name="DB2" Type="IBM.Data.DB2.DB2Connection,IBM.Data.DB2, Version=9.0.0.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208" /> too the data section of the xml file.
So too wrap it all up. Which provider should I use? Are there any recommendations out there?
I upgraded my DB2 client from v8 (32 bit) to v9 (64 bit) and the IBM OLE DB DB2 Driver is not showing up in the data source list in Import and Export Wizard. I need to use the IBM OLE DB Driver because the Microsoft driver doesn't work (db2 login).
Can anyone tell me how to add the IBM OLE DB Driver into the list. Is is a PATH/CLASSPATH issue??
We are in the process of configuring a j2ee application with SQL Server 2005. We have downloaded the new version of SQL Server 2005 Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) Driver 1.0.
We are having some issues in getting it to work using the XA datasource. Description of the error is as follows:
javax.transaction.xa.XAException: java.sql.SQLException: Failed to create the XA control connection. Error: Could not find stored procedure 'master..xp_sqljdbc_xa_init'.. at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerXAResource.start(Unknown Source)
Has anyone else has encountered this and possibly found a solution.
I'm trying to configure JBoss application server to use SQLServer 2005 as database with XA transactions. The system is running on Windows Server 2003 64bit with SQLServer 2005 64bit, and JBoss running on JDK 1.5.0 (32bit) Can anyone tell me what this message indicates?
I have multiple SQLDatasources on multiple pages. When I call the Select command for the datasource the query is run multiple times. I was wondering if anyone had any problems like this. The data is being read into listboxes. If you need any more info or have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
I am developing an ETL system on a 32-bit machine let's say, called 'dwdev'. The application connects to a Sybase database as a source system using ODBC connection. I am able to run this application directly from Visual studio 2005 and i am able to deploy it into SQL Server 2005 and run it from Server as a job. Both work. At this server i am connecting to a SQL Server instance called 'dwdev'.
When i transfer my application onto a 64-bit machine, let's say called 'dwtest', i am able to run my application from Visual Studio 2005 properly and it works, but when i deploy it into SQL Server (instance is called 'dwtest') and try to run it as a job just like the development machine, it gives an error and stops executing.
I was facing 'data source' type of error when i was first trying it from Visual Studio, but i solved this problem by setting Run64bitRunTime settings to FALSE on the Project's properties Debugging Page, at 64-bit machine. now it uses 32-bit runtime then 32-bit Sybase ODBC driver. But i cannot force the application to use 32 bit runtime when i am executing it from SQL Server as a job.
How can i do that? is there an alternative method?
trying to install sql server2005 on a windows 2003 server box.
getting msg below at the sql server . i looked at other posts on trying to uninstall SQL Native Access Client and norton antivirus. i could never find the snac on the add - remove programs and this server does not have a virus protection program yet.
here's the history of the installs on the server:
wanted to test a 2005 upgrade so:
1) installed sql server 2000 then sp4 then restored some databases to it - all OK
2) tried to upgrade to sql 2005 but ran into problems and left it at that.
had a disk drive crash on the d drive so lost the installs but not the operating system
when the drive was replaced, left alone for a while
then wanted to test a straight 2005 install
1) removed the broken 2005 attempt
2) removed the 2000
3) installed 2005 and got the error on the subject line:

i've gone through as many of the forums that i can and have tried several things - like uninstalling 2005 and installing pieces and parts but but nothing seems to work.
i am attempting to run phpbb using ms sql 2005 on the same box but get the following error during the setup

i am not sure yet if this is an issue with sql, php or phpbb
php is installed in iis and has all the modules installed which the php msi installer supported. i can run php code but in this case when i'm running the install.php file for the phphbb setup, i fill in the values for the database and got that error
phpbb detects all the required server settings and sees that i have ms sql installed
any suggestions on what that error means or how to go about configuring odbc driver?

Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).

1. Is it legal and OK to use a MSDN SQL copy on a production environment or is it strickly for test environments ??
2. If I own a legal copy of SQL 7 with 5 cals, can I legally use SQL MSDE and have more than 5 people access my SQL server or am I also limited to 5 users as my original ??
In my environment, there is maintenance plan configured on one of the server and while running DBCC checkdb on a database of size around 200GB, log file usage of tempdb is increasing and causing the maintenance job to fail.
What can I do to make the maintenance job run successfully, size of the tempdb database is only 50GB and recovery model is set to simple. It cannot be increased as the mount point on which it is residing is 50GB.
If I start a long running query running on a background thread is there a way to abort the query so that it does not continue running on SQL server?
The query would be running on SQL Server 2005 from a Windows form application using the Background worker component. So the query would have been started from the background workers DoWork event using ado.net. If the user clicks an abort button in the UI I would want the query to die so that it does not continue to use sql server resources.
One of my stored procs, taking one parameter, is running about 2+ minutes. But if I run the same script in the stored proc with the same parameter hardcoded, the query only runs in a couple of seconds. The execution plans are different as well. Any reason why this could happen? TIA.
I working on a form using an SQL DataSource. I am going to add a where clause. In that where clause a value from a label will be passed from the user. How do I pass to the HTML Source the label value from the where clause. The value can change from user to user. Sample below: SELECT [KeyRolesID], [KeyRolesDesc] FROM [KeyRoles] WHERE ([JobCodeFamily] = @JobCodeFamily). I want to replace the @JobCodeFamily which is currently coded with a value from the Sql DataSource in the design form with a label value entered by the user.

I have a question about the datasource that we create on the Report Manager. What is it used for? In the below connection string which is given in the "Connection String" text box of a datasource link:
What is this datasource used for? Is it used only to use the ReportServer database or even our queries incorporated in the RDL files will be run against this datasource? I think the latter should not happen because while creating RDL files also, we provide a connection string to run the stored procedures against that datasource.

I have this web store that I have been creating. When a customer goes to check out, he has to log in, then he is redirected to a page where he can view/add/or edit shipping and billing address. I have based all the sql statements on the profile username, adding records and retrieving them works just fine. When I go to change something in the info it uses an sql statement that updates based on "Where AccountUserName = @AccountUserName", I have @AccountUserName set to Profile("Username"). Keep in mind this works fine for adding new or bring up current records. I even put in code in the updated event for the sql data source to post a msgbox telling me how many rows were affected, it says 1 even though I dont see any change in the data. What am I doing wrong here, it's driving me nuts, its just a very simple update.
My god.All I want to do is post the contents of a web form to a database sql express 2005 or access using C#. Why can I find nothing for this very simple process online?Can you tell I am totally frustrated? So lets say i have a few text fields and I want to click submit and have that entered into a table. I use C# for code behind. So I can do basic C# programming and I can to webforms with visual web developer 2005 dragging and dropping for textboxs and a button to the aspx page. But then the mystery begins for me. How the hell do I simple post that form data to the table. I understand connection string basics. I aslo can design and create tables. But tying this all together is becoming a problem. I don't want to use gridview formview detailview or any of that canned UI stuff. I also don't understand VB and when I see VB examples they only cloud my already cloud ASP.NET world. Please help by posting examples, and maybe some links or books to add to my newbish collection. How do I get the value on category from my datasource in code behind if I know that my selectcommand always will return one row? Can I write something like datasource.items["category"].Value? I am using a SQLDatasource to populate a dataview as illustrated below. I run into a problem when I search for a "LastName" that includes an (') Apostrophe ( e.g. O'Reilly) . Searchin for the whole name there is no problem, but when I search for simply O, or O' I get errors. I am not sure ...when to address names with an apostrophe... 1) On insertion to the database (using a "Replace(LastName, "'", "''") 2) or after they have been entered and they are to be searched for. If scenario 1, can anyone provide the best way to do this...If scenario 2, how would that be worked into the SQL Datasource code below.... Hi When I try to configure a SQL datasource and I use a Microsoft SQL Server datasource I get a blank drop down list for server name. My aspnetdb is available in SQL Server 2005 and I can log into it through management studio, and the service is started. I am also using Vista Ultimate. I have a simple form that accepts a zip code and a city when the submit button is hit this is triggered... New to databases so need some help. While trying to set up data source in control panel, I find that there are no drivers for *mdf files. Just *.dbo and *.xls and others. Can someone tell me what to do. I can't get analysis services to let me access my database, which are *mdf files a friend sent me.
I am trying to do incremental extract using Datasource reader. I need to send a variable in where condition to extract the data base on the max date from other table.
To implement this i have created two variables 1)to get the max date from the table. 2)to store the sql query and send the mad date from other variable to extract the data.
