Drop A Role In Report Sever
Jan 3, 2006I create a new Role "TestRole"under Security/ Roles in the Report Server.
I i want to drop this Role, i get the Error that the Role does not exist ?
But the Role exist !!
Anyone can help ?

How do I do the same for ROLE, LOGIN, USER?
I want get rid of annoying messages in my scripts when trying to drop something that doesn't exist.

I am quite annoyed because the "owned schema" is db_owner, which can not be unselected. Quite an innovation. How do I drop this relationship?
RsReportParameterProcessingError In Report Sever

I am getting a error called "rsReportParameterProcessingError" from a report i deployed in sql sever reporting services (Sharepoint 3.0) in a sever A. the parameter which cause this error is 'EndDate' which set to returin the value of one day before report generation day, code as: =CDate(Format(Dateadd("d",-1,now()),"dd/MM/yyyy"))
The report is running fine and returning no error in either Visual Studio or other severs.
Could you please advise what setting in the sever might cause this error and how do i change the configration in Sever A to fix that?

Stupid Question In SQL Sever 2005 Report

Hi There
I have a report built in SQL Server 2005 Reporting. When i run that report i see the output question is, if i want to copy
any column data like for example on 10th record i want to copy 2nd column's data. How do i do that. I want to use mouse to copy data to Notepad like the normal copy and paste data. When i try to do that i was not able to clicl on it. I can't seem to get this done. Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Unable To Access Report Sever Error

We are facing a problem while trying to access the report server. When I try to access reports homepage "http://servername/reports", I get following error "Unable to communicate with report server.
Please verify that the report server is operational."
I have not touched report server config file.
I noticed that the problem can be temporarily fixed, if I disconnect remote connections (mstsc) to above server machine, which are idle for 2-3 days. Then the report server works fine.
But I don't see any link between mstsc connections to server machine and report server problem.
I think, it might be some memory issue, can somebody tell me how to fix this problem ?
I am getting calls from my office in the middle of the night to fix this error..!!!!!
I want permanent solution !

Display Report Based On User Role
Oct 30, 2007I have created reports using SSRS 2005 and deployed in ReportServer.
I calling these reports form my web application.Users have different roles based on their login into web application.I need check these user roles and display the reports based on their roles. There could be 10 reports in total, but for this user i should display only 4 out of them. Its pretty urgent. Can somebhelp on this?

In the role-based security model that is implemented for Reporting Services, users who are assigned to the Content Manager role can create and edit reports in Report Builder. Local administrators are automatically assigned to this role.
If you want other users to be able to work with a Report Builder report, you must create a role assignment for them that includes the default role "Report Consumer." Alternatively, you can create a custom role definition. As long as the customized role includes the "Consume reports" task, users who are assigned to that role will have sufficient permission to create and modify reports using Report Builder

Report Model - No Build Because Of Error In Role

I removed a role in the datasourceview of a datamodel. Later I removed the role in the reportmodel. There are always two roles for one relation. Now I only have one role left and I can't delete it anymore.
This is the error I get when building the project.
Error 2 The RelatedRoleID property of the Role 'invoicelineid' refers to the Role 'Gd1b03590-f98b-46aa-945d-c90ccd5d6028', which is not in the same SemanticModel as the Role 'invoicelineid'. Max generiek.smdl 0 0
When I try to remove the role I'll get an error : object reference not set to an instance of an object.
If I look at the properties of the role I see that when I open 'related role' there is nothing in it, except an ID: Gd1b03590-f98b-46aa-945d-c90ccd5d6028 and as name: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I also tried to remove the whole entity but that resulted in the same error. It's not an option for mee to remove the whole model and autogenerate it again, but there is too much work in it already.
If I try to remove this thing in the xml itself it gives other errors and the model won't load anymore.
I hope somebody has a solution for this.

I have found that in the autogenerated model attributes are missing for those fields that have relations to other tables. At first, it may look reasonable since a user can still get down to the field's value through the relation/related table. However, if the relation's key fields is the only thing the user wants to display, then going down to the related table is an overkill.
I can add an attribute manually and bind it to the key field(s). Is there an option in the autogeneration process to do it automatically? The only post I've found so far suggests to do everything manually (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1152575&SiteID=1). Is this the only way?

I am building a drop down list for user to select the desired branch. My mdx query as follow:

I have a problem with a parameter drop down that is on my report. On one report server (i.e. a SQL Server Reporting Server instance), the drop down data is ordered correctly. On another, it appears to be random.
The report is created using Report Builder v9.0.2047.0.
I have used SQL Server Profiler and I have found that an "order by" clause is appended on one of the report servers, while it is excluded on another.
About my Set-up

I have configured multiple report servers (i.e. SQL Server Reporting Server instances) on a single SQL Server 2005 instance. The SQL Server 2005 details are:
productversion = 9.00.3054.00
productlevel = SP2
edition = Standard Edition (64-bit)
Another post (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1379591&SiteID=1) puts this problem down to SP2. However, both my report servers are on the same SQL server instance.
I also see that Bob has a blog on a possible solution for this: http://blogs.msdn.com/bobmeyers/archive/2007/10/11/sorting-the-values-in-parameter-dropdowns-in-report-builder.aspx.
However, I would like to understand why the report is behaving differently.

Then i created a new parameter to get the values from the second dataset. After running the reports when i selected 2 departemnts, its still showing all the records.

I have a report on my report server... and it has set for multivalue parameter... but since the particular client has only one plan so they wont have the select all function... but the size of the ddl is so squished that we cannot see the Plan name at all...

I can't see the drop down list associated with the report that's hosted inside the folder. Here's what I mean by drop down list -- the one that lists things like: properties, subscribe, etc. In other words If i click on that dropdown arrow, I don't see the list.

Jan 9, 2006In sql server 2000, I created some custom database roles called ProjectLeader and Developer. I would make these roles a member in the fixed database roles so that I would only have to add the user to the ProjectLeader or Developer role once and they would presto-magico have the security I wanted them to have with no unecessary mouse clicking. I'm not sure how to repeat this process in 2005? Management Studio doesn't seem to allow you to add a role as a member in another role. Is there a work around or solution for this?

Adding A Database Role To A Database Role

I have SQL server 2005 (Developer edition) installed and I want to add a database role to a database role. It is working on my SQL 2000 server,however, when I tried to do the same thing on SQL2005, It didn't allowed me.
When I go to the Add role and then adding members to the role, the browse screen does not allow me the choice of object type Roles. It only shows me "Users".
Can someone please help me with this and provide me some information of how / what should I set to get the Roles in object types list so I can add a role to a role.

Dec 2, 2004I did not use Sql server for 2 weeks and now it shows the red small square on the server icon for SQL Server indication it is stopped. I can not now start it, it says access denies or not exist. Can you please help me to connect to it again as i do not want to re-install and los the databases. I have done nothing to it apart from i change my windows password as the system in the company you have to change it every 3 months, Do you think that might affects?

Can Not Connect To SQL Sever
Apr 21, 2003After restarting the SQL Sever agents, I can not connect to the server from my desktop via Enterprise manager or analyzer, but everything seems find on the server side. the error message is as follows: "a connection could not be established to [servername]
reason: SQL Server does not exist or access denied ConnectionOpen (Connect())..
I have not attempted to reboot the server yet, I would like to try to resolve the problem withoutout having to do this (last alternative)
setup:
SQL Server 2000 Service pack 3
running on Server 2000.

May 17, 2002I have a situation where I might want to pull(select) some information from a DB2 database, and possibly push(insert) some data to the same DB2 database. I am sure this is being done in the real world. WHat software, infrastrucure, etc would I need to accomplish this. Is it as simple as using DTS and the proper drivers, or are their better products and solutions. ANy
