Dynamically Creating Cube

Hi guys
I'm investigating whether if its possible to Dynamically create a cube. Then Process this cube before exporting it to a .cub file.
I know that DTS in sqlserver is able to process a cube given at a scheduled time interval. But I'm not sure how I can export a cube to a offline .cub file dynamically. The only way that i know to create a .cub file is via PivotTable in Excel.
Any help in pointing me to the right direction is appreciated.

I have problems creating a cube with AMO.
I can add the cube to the database object and fill it with dimensions and a measuregroup (see code below).
If I call cube.Update() it says something like "Error in meta data manager. Cube has no measuregroups." (getting the message in german language)
The error in Microsoft.AnalysisServices.OperationException.Results.Messages is -1055653629
I can't find any documentation about this (or any other) error code in Microsoft documentation.

The environment here is SSIS ETL feeding a Fact Table. The Fact Table is pulled into SSAS as a cube and reporting services are handled there. I am on the ETL side and don't pretend to know all the processing that happens with cubes, etc.
What we are trying to accomplish is to add partitions to a Cube via the ETL processing. The partitions should be incremented by Day, i.e. 20070501, 20070502, etc.
This is currently processed manually by the Reporting developer and we are looking for an automated process to reduce errors and hand work.
I have explored the following objects: Partition Processing DataFlow Destination and did not find much documentation or examples on it's use. If you have any information on this stage, please reply with such.
The other option is the Analysis Services Processing Control Flow. I understand that we can process Analysis Server objects as part of our package. Is there a way to incorporate a Partitioning Script in this object? If so, how. Again, I did not find detailed examples on the use of this object.
If you have experience with either of these, please feel free to reply. I appreciate any and all comments.

a.A CUBE query with Grouping used to distinguish Null values.
b.A CUBE query showing a multidimensional cube.
c.A CUBE query created using a view. For this problem you must not only create your view but query it and display the results.
5.Create one example of a query using COMPUTE and one example of a query using COMPUTE BY. These queries should use the table you created in problem #1 Provide output showing your SELECT statements and the resulting output rows.

Anyone see a problem with creating this view for a cube??
The error I get seems to be in line 8 with the sum function, but I see nothing wrong with it.

I want to be able to generate a table on the fly. I know I can use dynamic sql to do this but my brains have forzen this afternoon so any help would be much appreciated.
I have the first query that returns one column with three rows. The contents of the these three rows will form the new columns in the dynamically generated table. How can I do this?

I have a problem. When I try to create a database with this code:

it usually works, except when the name of the database (xxxxxx) contains a number in the beginning of the name or if it is all made up completely by numbers. I also converted the database name into a string, but it doesn't work either.
What is the problem?
How can I solve it?

I was given what at first seemed a simple task (and maybe it is, but with everything else on my plate, I can't seem to get my head wrapped around this)...create a grid or table something similar to below:
Plan A Plan B PlanC PlanD
Item1 yes yes no no
Item2 yes yes no no
Item3 yes no yes no
etc.....
The "plans" are stored in one db table, the "items" in another. What I can't seem to get straight in my mind is how to relate the yess and nos and then generate a tabular layout similar to the above.
I don't need anyone to do it for me, but a push in the right direction would sure be nice (using SQL 2005) Thanks!

Folks,
Is there any way I can dynamically alter the structure of a table? In other words if my Transact SQL
statement returns 5 rows I want to alter an existing table and put in 5 columns. Strange?!
Something like
alter table add
column+@i
The alter table statement is within a Cursor and ideally @i should increment each time and alter
the table to put in a new column.
If I went 3 times thru the loop, I should have
column1
column2
column3
added to the new table.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much in advance.

Has anyone found out how to dynamically create report width.
If I have 20 columns on a report all of 2cm, then report will be 40cm width.
If I display the columns based on specific criteria using the iif function and then setting the an expression for the Visibility Hidden property, the report could potentially reduce in width.
I cannot see how to build an expression for the report width or table width, to accommodate the potential change in the width of the report when columns are not shown, thus it pages incorrectly, leaving huge white space on the right of the report when columns are hidden... has anyone come across this requirement, and hopefully a solution for it?

I am using a 2005 SSAS cube as a datasource for 2005 SSRS report with multivalue parameters. I use the design mode query builder to generate my MDX. I then add my parameter to my parameter field in the filters section. The name and value of the parameter in the dataset editor is as follows:
Name: FacilityFacilityNumber
Parameter: Parameters!FacilityFacilityNumber.Value
I then proceed to layout mode and then open up report parameters. I then check the multivalue box and select non-queried available values. I choose non-queried radio button because I want my asp page to be passing in the parameters, not a dropdown list.
The problem is that when I try and preview the report and I type in just one parameter I get the following:
"Query (1, 437) The restrictions imposed by the CONTRAINED flag in the STROSET function were violoated"
After looking through a couple of forums I found that adding the following Parameter value in the data tab and dataset editor would help me out a bit:
"[Facility].[Facility Number].&["+Parameters!FacilityFacilityNumber.Value+"]"
Ok so now (in layout mode) I type in one parameter and I get a report back, BUT when I try to type in a second or more parameter I get the same error as before:

Here is the MDX query that I am using for this report:

Trying to figure out the best method of reading in a number of flat files, all with different number of columns and data types and outputting them to a database.
Here's the problem: They are EBCDIC encoded and some of the columns are packed decimal. I've set up one package that takes the flat file, unpacks the decimal (Using UnpackDecimal component) and then sending the rest through a second component to go from EBCDIC -> ASCII.
What I need is a way to do this for every flat file based on the schema for that flat file. One current solution is to write a script/app to create the .dtsx XML file and then execute that for each flat file. It appears like this may be possible, but I haven't gotten far enough to know for sure. So my questions are this:
1) Is there an easier way to do this (ie somehow feed the schema to the package and use it to dynamically set up the column makers and determine which columns get fed to the unpack decimal component.
2) If there isn't a better way, will dynamically creating the .dtsx XML file based on the necessary input/output columns for each flat file work? If so, what is a good source of information on this (information about how the .dtsx XML file is set up, what needs to be changed/what doesn't, etc).

I have three databases which have the identical data structure. When the user runs a report, he has to select a database.
For example, my report query would look like:

How could I assign the value of <theDatabase> at run time depending on what the user selects from the list?
In my datasource, I have only specified the server name and no value for initial catalog.

If I run the following command in a Query window it works:
RESTORE DATABASE CIS_Source_Data_Test FROM DISK = 'y:CIS_Source_Data_backup_2015_06_17_085557_7782407.bak' WITH RECOVERY, REPLACE
If I dynamically put together the command and store it in variable @cmd and then execute it using
exec sp_executesql @cmd or exec (@cmd) it does not work. I get the following:

I am just starting out using CUBEMEMBER/CUBEVALUE formulas in excel linked into a sql olap db - using this method for some custom reports where pivot tables are not suitable.
The time dimension values include Months, Quarters and Years and the CUBEMEMBER formulas like
=CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[1].&[1]") work fine - 1st quarter 1st month etc.
Is there a straightforward notation to aggregate months or do I need to use a plus sign to add a number of CUBEMEMBER formulas together.In other words - Is there an easier way of for say jan to july 2015 totals than
=CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[1]") + (CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[2]")) + (CUBEMEMBER("OLAPCUBE","[Time].[Time].[Year].&[2015].&[3].&[7]"))
I haven't tested this but have assumed it works but a bit long and clumsy.

When I make a call to GetSchemaDataset with a restriction of a cube name with a space in the name of the cube the call fails.
