I have a handful of reports that are currently used by sales reps, and I'm trying to make them available to their regional VP's, and coporate users (executives and administrative staff that support Sales nationwide).
Currently, the reports take the UserID and resolve it to show the information that is only appropriate for that specific rep.
What I would like to do is have the parameter section at the top of the report be displayed for higher level users, so they could select an individual sales rep from a drop-down. (Ideally, the RVP's would only be able to select from reps in their region, but the corporate users would be able to select any rep.) The problem is, I don't want any of the sales reps to be able to select a rep other than themselves, for obvious reasons.
Is there a way to have the parameter section hidden/displayed dynamically, based on the UserID, so that users other than reps would have the ability to enter the desired rep name, but reps would not?
I have 2 tables in my report, a multi value parameter (tp_title) is passed to the report. I am trying to hide the first tablix with this expression in the visiblity option of the tablix properties.
=IIF(Parameters!tp_Title.value = "Financial Years" or Parameters!tp_Title.value="ALL", False,True )
I get the error: The Hidden expression for the tablix ‘Tablix1’ contains an error: Overload resolution failed because no Public '=' can be called with these arguments: 'Public Shared Operator =(a As String, b As String) As Boolean': Argument matching parameter 'a' cannot convert from 'Object()' to 'String'.
When I render the report. How the tablix can be made invisible based on the parameter?
Can we do the auto hide of parameter window in ssrs as soon as user select the input and click on view report and once the data comes, that parameter window should hide automatically.
I am using reporting services 2012, Can we make visibility of report parameter dynamic, ie can we make parameter visible or hide on certain condition or its visibility depends on other parameters Is this feature available in any other updated version of ssrs?
How can I hide the URL information when I open a report, some with parameters and some do not have parameters. Is there anyway or properties in RS that I can set to have it hide all the important information, like datasource, credentials, parameters, and display the report like a aspx page instead?
Or does this need to have special programming to make this happen? and if so, what do I need to do?
Is it possible to fill a parameter list with values based on another parameter value? Here's what I have so far (which hasn't worked)... I'd like to generate a report listing information for a student. The report viewer would first select a school from the first drop-down menu, and then the second drop-down menu would populate with the list of students at that school. I have a dataset that calls a sp which returns a list of schools (SchoolID and SchoolName fields from the database table). I have another dataset that calls a sp (with SchoolID as the parameter) which returns a list of students for that school. Both datasets return the appropriate data when tested individually, but when I set up the Report Parameters and build the report, these errors come up... The value expression for the query parameter '@SchoolID' refers to a non-existing report parameter 'SchoolID'. The report parameter 'Student' has a DefaultValue or a ValidValue that depends on the report parameter "SchoolID". Forward dependencies are not valid. ...Is it possible for the reoprt to generate a list of available parameter values based on the value selected for another parameter? Any help you can give me would be great!! Thank you
There is one manual process done by my friend. The process is " In query analyser, she runs a sql query and the resultset of Sql query, she copies and pastes into a excel workbook".
I wanted to write a SSIS package to automate it and providing a UI, in which she can give connection details and paste the SQL query and the package will in turn generate excel workbook in the target path". I thought of trying ExecuteSQL task, but the output resultset of ExecuteSQL task cannot be mapped dynamically to excel source(correct me if I am wrong). If I use Dataflow task, then also whether dynamic mapping of SQL output to Excel destination input is possible?
Can you please tell me the best approach for achieving the above functionality?
I have a stored procedure which takes an input parm and is supposed to return an output parameter named NewRetVal. I have tested the proc from Query Analyzer and it works fine, however when I run the ASP code and do a quickwatch I see that the parm is being switched to an input parm instead of the output parm I have it defined as...any ideas why this is happening? The update portion works fine, it is the Delete proc that I am having the problems... Hello, I tie up columns with parameters.what ever column are selected only those column should be displayed. Now my parameter are string data type. I write this expression in column-->propertyvisibility--> hide-->Expression
in the Visibility property for the relevant column, but it doesn't make any difference. The column still shows up even if the Rate parameter is set to Null or zero. I only want the column to show if the user enters a value in the Rate parameter which is greater than zero.
I have a Multivalue parameter with 4 available values and have 4 columns in the report that correspond to each of these values.I apply column visibility to each of the 4 columns with the following expression (the number changes for each column
What I want to do is that if I select a KPI and the Column value is NULL then to hide the row.Obviously if you select multiple KPIs and only 1 of the columns has null value then I wouldn't want the Row hidden.
I'd like to hide/show a table based on selected parameters. In the current setup I have a matrix and two tables underneath that need to be displayed from time to time. First of I use a multi-value parameter called "Lieferart". Depending on the parameter I have set the visibility of the two tables with the following expression:
=iif(Parameters!lieferart.Value(0) like "Nagel%", False, True)
This expression doesn't work though, any ideas??? I am also unsure about what I have to do If multiple values from the parameter list are selected as Parameters!lieferart.value(0) doesn't necessarily need to have a label like "Nagel" included...
how do i hide an attributes member value in all the reports where my cube is exposed as data source. Example : Lets say i have dimension called Product. Product
Name column Key column Product A 0 Product B 1 Product C 2
Now i need to create mdx query which will fetch member values except 0 key column value so that member values except 0 Key would be loaded in the parameter list. What is the best query so that i will run in to any performance issues. Is there any cube level setting i can do so that i will be doing one time job ?
Can i use Key() function to compare something like Key([Product].[Product Name]) >0 in the mdx query ot would Except() function would help?
I have requirement where first I need to show only one report parameter. Based on user selection I need to prompt or show the user another report parameter.
Say suppose I have 3 parameters. User selects first value in first parameter I should not show the other 2 parameters. If user selects second value in first parameter I should show second parameter and hide third parameter. There is no relationship between these 2 parameters except user selection. Similarly if user third value in first parameter then I should show third parameter and hide second parameter.
Is this possible? I can not see any Visible property for report parameters.
I have a problem which I am really struggling with. I have a report that normally spreads over three pages. We have a list setup so that for each customer it picks up fees and expenses and displays it in sections. We have a page break after FEES so that expenses start on a new page. FEES and expenses are tables.
We need to have a page footer set for the bottom of the report but to appear on the first page only per customer. I.e. we do not want it showing on the EXPENSE pages. We have played with the IIF command but can not seem to print htis per customer only by using global variables.
=IIf(Globals!PageNumber=1,"(Please note 30 day invoice period)
The example above however only prints on the first page of the entire report. So if three customers appear then this will only appear for the first customer and I have a feeling I may not be able to link this to list.
If I can not use a page break and enter this into the list then I have a problem with the text field moving up and down depending on the size of the FEE section. For example if 5 fees are brought back then the text field will be lower then a customer that has only 2 fees.
I after a solution that can either allow my page fotter to appear every time a new customer appears on a page and hiddern for the sub sheets. Or the ability to allow my text field to start at a fixed position on my report. Has anyone had a similar issue.
Hi, I need to do the following task, which is described by pseudo-code SELECT * FROM Customers SORT BY @SortExpression How can I do something like it (sorting according to input parameter) Thanks for any idea
Hi everyone, I have a question that I believe should be simple to answer yet I cannot find the answer anywhere. I am trying to make it possible for my report to clear the input box whenever the report is run or when anything in a dropdown list is selected. The reason why I want this is because my report has a dropdown list that inputs date ranges for "quick" report info. The other option is to manually type in the begin and end date. If anyone could help me out with this I would be very grateful.
Hi, I'm creating a dynamic SQL statement in MS SQL Server that is similiar to this: EXEC('IF @' + @current_column + ' (SELECT ' + + @current_column etc... I'm basically looping through a large list of parameters that correspond to column names. However, since SQL Server treats EXEC() as its own scope when it gets to what "@' + @current_column" evaluates to it says the parameter must be declared. Is there a way to convert "@' + @current_column " into the actual value of the parameter?
Does anybody know how to set the parameter's default value dynamically?
I'm working on a report with some parameters against datacube, and I hope the default value of one of the parameters could be set dynamically based on the user's login.

I have a stored proc that inserts a customer and it expects a timestamp input parameter. I dont know what a timestamp datatype is for sql 2005 and Ive tried to parse all sorts of data types but the proc errors out saying it needs "Byte[]" which Ive tried. Can anyone help me with this? ThanksRyan
hi all i am using VS 2005 with SQL Server 2005 and i faced a problem that need to be solved urgently... i want to make a function that take a table as input parameter which is the output of a stored procedure (Record set)... first i found that to make w table be as input parameter you must create type of that table first but i found that sql server 2005 doesn't have the 'table' as a type... please any help will be appreciated thanks in advance
i created a cookie as follows HttpCookie myCookie = new HttpCookie("Portal"); myCookie["EMail_ID"] = Email_ID;myCookie["Role"] = Role_ID.Value.ToString();myCookie.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(1); Response.Cookies.Add(myCookie);
Now i have to take the"EMail_ID" as input parameter in sqldatasourse.
Hi, I am using a ListBox where a user can choose multiple lines. The index of the selected items are then used in a stored procedure.
I wan´t to use the ID´s in this statement: SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE MyID IN (1,2,4,9)
But how can I do this? If I pass them as a string, then I can´t use them as above. Can I separate the string '1,2,4,9' so I can use them in the statement above? Or can I send the values as a array to the stored procedure?
This should be relatively easy but for some reason it isn't. I'm trying to simply add parameters to a stored procedure that performs a simple input and I can't do it... I keep getting an error that the parameters are not found when I am explicitly stating them. I could do this with VB ASP.NET 1.x but with all these radical changes with 2.0, I'm pulling my hair out.... I can get to work if I declare a sqlStatement in the code but don't want to go that route (but will if there is no other choice) Any help would be great: Code: Dim cmd As New SqlDataSource cmd.InsertCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.StoredProcedure cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@firstName", txtFirstName.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@lastName", txtLastName.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@address1", txtAddress1.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@address2", txtaddress2.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@city", txtCity.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@state", ddlState.SelectedItem.Value) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@zipCode", txtZipCode.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@telephone", txtTelephone.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@email", txtEmail.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@agegroup", ddlAgeGroup.SelectedItem.Value) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@birthday", txtBirthday.Text) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@emailnotification", rbEmail.SelectedItem.Value) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@magazine", rbEmail.SelectedItem.Value) cmd.InsertParameters.Add("@question", txtquestion.Text) cmd.ConnectionString = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|ASPNETDB.MDF;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" cmd.InsertCommand = "sp_insertCustomer"
