It seems that in order to get an email alert from SQL Server 2000 I need Microsoft Outlook orMicrosoft Exchange client installed. Is there any other way to get an email alert (not net send) when a back up is finished? for example using a @hotmail.com account?
We recently had a problem with DB Mail. SQL jobs that sends an email succeeded but the email in the job fail to sent. There was a problem with the email server. The error is included. We fixed the problem with the email server. How can I get an alert when a DB Mail email fails send?

I'm trying to develop a email alert feature on my project. I was trying to approach with SQL trigger wich I think is the best option. Basically, when a new record is inserted into ad table, a email alert goes to peolpe who selected to receive alert wehen certain conditions are met. What would be the best approach? any examples?Thanks
When a new record is inserted into the database. I want this to trigger an email that will be sent to all users who requested one when a new record was added. I can't figure the best way to set this up. All help gratefully received. Thanks JB
I am trying to configure emails alerts on DTS package on one of my servers , i am getting an error somthing like i need to add a new profile.I received emails every day from the scheduled jobs which succeed every day
I have a server where I have been getting "SQL Alert Sev 24 : Fatal Error : Hardware Failure" for the past week.
Occurence : We disconnected the workstation (which we are using as SQL Server) from one floor and connected it to another floor. No Configurations changed. No hardware failures reported so far on the win 2000 box.
We are very well able to do the SQL development on that box. Everything seems normal except I get this error sent atleast once a day in the morning.

I've set up an alert to email me whenever the database is over a certain size. The amount is calculated by taking 80% of the total data file size. The problem I'm having is that it keeps generating a false positive alert because MS SQL seems to treat the currently used value as the total allocated space for the database data file. For example, the data file is 100MB, it's currently using 60MB, and if I enter 80MB in the alert, it generates an email alert claiming the current size is 100MB. Could it be because the data file size is set to 100MB (since autogrowth is disabled)?
How can I turn this query into an Email alert if one of the counts are GT 50. The Source are machines that I capture counts(Unprocessed_Cntr) from every 5 minutes and load to the Load_Time_Capture table. I also add a datetime to each capture(Unprocessed_Capture ).
If any individual source has a count > 50 or if the combined(ALL) GT 50 send an email to support person.
SELECT CASE GROUPING([Source]) WHEN 1 THEN 'ALL' ELSE [Source] END AS 'Input Source', avg([Unprocessed_Cntr]) as 'Average Queue Past 15 Min'
FROM Load_Time_Capture WHERE Unprocessed_Capture >= DateADD(mi, -15, Current_TimeStamp) GROUP BY [source] WITH ROLLUP
how do I set up a SQL2000 server to send an alert to both an email address and a pager when a specific event occurs..please help!!! The server is in a different location and we need notification of problems!! thanks
I receive the following error when trying to invoke xp_sendmail 'xp_sendmail: failed with mail error 0x80070005'. However, for alert notifications the email works fine. SQL is using an alias account to send mail. This account doesn't have any funny characters. Any ideas why the alert system works but xp_sendmail does not? The invokation of xp_sendmail is being done by SA.
i was trying to install sql server 2000 enterprise edition on win 2003 with SP1. i got stuck with this error sayinbg;"the driver software you are installing has not been properly signed with Autheticode(TM) technology. therefore windows cannot tell if the software has been modified since it was published. the publisher's identity cannot be verified because of a problem, The installed INF file does not contain digital signature infromation"
Do you still want to install this driver software?

Is it possible to store an email in SQL server 2000? Do we need to define our own data type for that, if yes then how? or do we have to store it as an object, again how? I want to save email after sending it by my ASP .NET application and then retrieve it at a later stage.......Anyone please help?
We have encountered a major SQLServer 2000 bug. I would like to find out whether anyone has seen this or whether there are work around. We are using SQLServer 2000 Standard Edition running on Windows 2000 Server.
Here is the problem. We have a main SP that calls several long SPs (1000+ lines in each SP) to migrate data from one SQL2000 server to another SQL2000 server. (Both database servers are within the same PC.) The bug occurs in the main SP. It skips a specific SQL statement (which is a call to a SP). There is nothing unique about this SQL statement because the same statement in other parts of the same SP works. This bug occurs consistently. We were able to trace it by putting PRINT statements around this SQL statement and inside the calling SP. We also tried to trace it using the Query Analyzer's Debug with a strange behavior. It seems like the Debugger has a line shifted in it's memory (lines are displayed fine.) This shift occurs a few statements before the Problematic Line. We observe this by trying to put a break point on a valid SQL statement. But the red dot actually shows on a comment line right after the intended line. It does not Step Into the Problematic Line (which is a call to a SP). Note that when we run small SPs, this behavior does not show up. Everything works fine for small SPs.
i get just as frustrated each time i try to configure email alerts on failed jobs on ms sql, it is beyond me why microsoft couldn't just let you point out an SMTP server to send through and be done with it.
is there a way to avoid having to setup an email client on our sql 7 and 2000 servers through some 3rd party app or other simple solution?
I am getting this error when sending an excel file via email.
Failure sending mail: The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the log files
The scheduled job which emails an excel spreadsheet has been working and now it doesn't. I've done some research and this KB article is close to the error that I'm seeing however the win 32 error 87 is different. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842423
Has anyone any idea's? I have not applied the hotfix for SSRS 2000 sp2.

Can you use the below query to get CPU high utilisation alert purposes for both named and default instance? or, do I need to make any changes here (@wmi_namespace=N'.ROOTCIMV2' ) ?
USE [msdb] GO EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_add_alert @name=N'CPU_WM_Utilization_Check', @message_id=0, @severity=0,
We are trying to create some alerts in our SQL Server 2014 BI edition.Issue is that, after I chose "Type" as "SQL Server performance condition alert" nothing is listed in the "Object" list box.SQL Server event alerts are working. Issue is only with "SQL Server performance condition alert".
How do I configure the database so that it will send an alert to all users who are logged in and using SQL*Server, when I need them all to get out of the database ??? Or, what do I need to look up in the documentation ??? I have looked under SQL*Mail, but that doesn't look like it will work for what I am trying to do. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nancy
I have a SQL 2000 sp3 installation on a Active - Active cluster. I wanted to create a performance alert, but when I tried, the Sql Server Performance Condition Alert choice is missing from the drop down menu on the new alert setup screen. Does anyone know why? Any help will be greatly appreciated.:confused:
I am trying to create an alert when there are more than 2500 connections to our ailing SQL Server.However, for now, I need to restart the SQL server service because users begin complaining they can't connect.
1) I created an operator - me.
2) I created a job which runs a query.
INSERT INTO Sessions_alert SELECT host_name, program_name, login_name, count(c.session_id ) num_sessions, getdate() FROM sys.dm_exec_connections c JOIN sys.dm_exec_sessions s on c.session_id = s.session_id GROUP BY host_name,program_name,login_name ORDER BY 4 DESC
3) I created an alert - included the job from above. Type performance condition alert. Object - SQL Server General Statistics. Counter - User connections.Alert if counter rises above 50. Just testing. I really want to know when it gets past 2500.
4) I've set the alert to email and delay is between responses 2 minutes.
It history tables says number of occurences is 18964. However, I don't receive an email.
Shouldn't the alert send an email? Do I need to include email code in the job?
I have a simple SSIS package that imports an Excel Spreadsheet into a table. The column heading got changed, so the package failed, as expected, but I would like an alert or some way to make the scheduled job show "failed". I tried putting an event handler on the :Data Flow" step to send an email, but it didn't work.
I would like to figure out the event handler problem, but more important to have the job show as failed.
For some reason the Scheduled job shows "success" even though the SSIS package failed. A better solution is to make the scheduled job itself fail, based on the package failing.
I've noticed that the 14150 event is no longer showing up in the Application Log. The 14151 event does. We tried modifying the alert: sp_altermessage 14150, 'WITH_LOG', 'true';
But this of course doesn't work on messages under 50000. We utilized this alert in SQL 2000 to send emails upon the success of a merge replication. Any idea how to get this to work? Is there a workaround or did MS drop the ball on this event? If they dropped it - sure wish they would let us know and also remove the ability to setup the alert for it...
Same SQL Server DB engine (2012), connected with two different clients (2008 and 2012). When I check objects for performance condition alert, 2008 client shows the objects name with leading "SQL Server".But 2012 client displays just the object name and NOT prefixed with "SQL Server".we have automated alerts creation, so it fails depends on the client version.
I have a report that gets sends out through a subscription and sometimes the report has multiple pages and all those pages appear within one email.Is it possible to set the subscription in such a way that an email is sent per page when the subscription executes.
Under IIS SMTP I can set bounced email redirect etc. how to do that with dbmail, the idea is I can get the list of bounced emails somewhere so I can create a report.
