I am trying to configure emails alerts on DTS package on one of my servers , i am getting an error somthing like i need to add a new profile.I received emails every day from the scheduled jobs which succeed every day
I receive the following error when trying to invoke xp_sendmail 'xp_sendmail: failed with mail error 0x80070005'. However, for alert notifications the email works fine. SQL is using an alias account to send mail. This account doesn't have any funny characters. Any ideas why the alert system works but xp_sendmail does not? The invokation of xp_sendmail is being done by SA.
We recently had a problem with DB Mail. SQL jobs that sends an email succeeded but the email in the job fail to sent. There was a problem with the email server. The error is included. We fixed the problem with the email server. How can I get an alert when a DB Mail email fails send?

I'm trying to develop a email alert feature on my project. I was trying to approach with SQL trigger wich I think is the best option. Basically, when a new record is inserted into ad table, a email alert goes to peolpe who selected to receive alert wehen certain conditions are met. What would be the best approach? any examples? Thanks
When a new record is inserted into the database. I want this to trigger an email that will be sent to all users who requested one when a new record was added. I can't figure the best way to set this up. All help gratefully received. Thanks JB
It seems that in order to get an email alert from SQL Server 2000 I need Microsoft Outlook orMicrosoft Exchange client installed. Is there any other way to get an email alert (not net send) when a back up is finished? for example using a @hotmail.com account?
I've set up an alert to email me whenever the database is over a certain size. The amount is calculated by taking 80% of the total data file size. The problem I'm having is that it keeps generating a false positive alert because MS SQL seems to treat the currently used value as the total allocated space for the database data file. For example, the data file is 100MB, it's currently using 60MB, and if I enter 80MB in the alert, it generates an email alert claiming the current size is 100MB. Could it be because the data file size is set to 100MB (since autogrowth is disabled)?
How can I turn this query into an Email alert if one of the counts are GT 50. The Source are machines that I capture counts(Unprocessed_Cntr) from every 5 minutes and load to the Load_Time_Capture table. I also add a datetime to each capture(Unprocessed_Capture ). Â
If any individual source has a count > 50 or if the combined(ALL) GT 50 send an email to support person. Â

how do I set up a SQL2000 server to send an alert to both an email address and a pager when a specific event occurs..please help!!! The server is in a different location and we need notification of problems!! thanks
I want to send an alert (email) to the subscriber of a report when the report fails to execute properly. I€™ve been looking through the documentation for RS 2005 and can not find how to set this functionality up.
I have a simple SSIS package that imports an Excel Spreadsheet into a table. The column heading got changed, so the package failed, as expected, but I would like an alert or some way to make the scheduled job show "failed". I tried putting an event handler on the :Data Flow" step to send an email, but it didn't work.
I would like to figure out the event handler problem, but more important to have the job show as failed.
For some reason the Scheduled job shows "success" even though the SSIS package failed. A better solution is to make the scheduled job itself fail, based on the package failing.
I did a small package with only one ODBC connection (Merant 3.70 32-Bit Progess). This package runs well in Visual Studio and fails when runs by SQL Server Agent.
Configuration:
SQL Server Agent on a 32Bit server.
The ODBC connection configuration in available on System DSN on this server.
The user of Server Agent have full access (Admin).

I created a .bat file with this instruction and It's run well:
1. I'm trying to get the notifications working on the scheduled jobs.I want to email me when the job fails. I created an operator(dmalhotr) and given me as the email address. Here is the error what I'm getting when I'm pressing the test buttonto email myself in properties dmalhotr operator (hope that makessense).Error 22022: sqlserveragent error: the sqlserveragent mail session isnot running; check the mail profile and/or the sqlserveragent servicestartup account in the sqlserveragent properties dialog.I cancel out of it. Then I go to support services --> sql mail -->right-click properties (WE HAVE LOTUS NOT EXCHANGE HERE- dont knowwhether that makes a difference). It says profile name Outlook and I click test. It says Successfullystarted (and stopped) a MAPI session with this profile.I go back to the operator and then click test to send email and I getthe same error. I started and stopped sql server agent and still getthe same error. Not sure how this works, please send me an email as to what I'm doingwrongThanks:DHRUV
I am havig trouble getting database mail to work. I setup IIS on the same box as sql. I setup SMTP with the relay to 127.0.0.0. In sql server, I setup database mail to point to localhost, with no authentication. After the setup, when I test the email (RMB Send test message) it works fine.
I created a job that will fail every time. I setup myself as the notify party on the job. When I run the job, it fails. I get no email. The job log has the following error:
Message The job failed. The Job was invoked by User xxxxAdministrator. The last step to run was step 1 (test 1). NOTE: Failed to notify 'Dan Jones' via email.
I have spent lots of hours trying to make this simple thing work. What is wrong?
There is an execute package task that calls the child package. Both parent and child packages have the same password and the passwork is entered into the execute package task. Both packages reside in the same directory path.
Error: Error 0xC0012050 while loading package file "C:Documents and SettingsuserMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsExecutePackageTestExecutePackageTestExtractandWrite.dtsx". Package failed validation from the ExecutePackage task. The package cannot run.
When ExtractandWrite.dtsx is executed by right-clicking on package, the package executes without any errors.
DelayValidation = True for the Execute Package Task tasks is set and DelayValidation for the connection manager is set to True.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might be causing this error?
I have done some fairly basic things with SSIS before, but I have now got a requirement where I need to send an email to a particular email address if a table (NewSubjects) has any data in it, can anyone give me any pointers on how I can achieve this with SSIS.
I am running a SSIS package under a trusted account and I am running into a problem when I am executing a email task. The error is an operation timeout which was reported in the log. I am using windows authentication on the connection manager. Other email task configured the exact same way run correctly in the same run. Also when I execute task from BIDS the email is sent. Is there a bug in SSIS which would cause this behavior or some kind of exchange server configuration issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg
hi, i would like to create a DTS package to retrieve records from database , this records i retrieve is from the error log table ( ERROR_LOG_TB),the scheduler will run at 9 am daily and will retrieve the records if there is a error and the error information will be capsulate and sent through email. Can i know how to know how to graphically do in DTS ? i am running SQL Server 2000.
Hi, My name is Vinh, I am a new bee in SQL Server 2005. I am using template script (see below) from SQL Server to create account but when I am right click in database mail for testing email and I got the message, could not connect to mail server.
Below I am trying to use smtp to connect but I know in my company we are using Exchange Mail Server. will that make a lot different?
Please help me,
Thank you very much,

I set up a DTS package to run every night on my SQL 7 Server. It is supposed to write a text file of modified rows every night. It was working fine until I changed the password for sa, now it fails. Also in Enterprise Manager, when I try to look a the package properties, I get a "login failed for user sa" package error.
I have stored procedure that uses the xp_cmdshell procedure to use the dts run to run some dts packages. This package exports data into an Access 97 database. When I run it I get this error: Error: -2147467259 (80004005); Provider Error: -533791822 (E02EFBB2)
Error string: Could not update; currently locked by user '(unknown)' on machine ''.

If I right click on the local package and select execute it runs with no problem. Any ideas what is going on?
I have a DTS package set up to push data out to several sites. When I execute the package it runs perfectly. When I schedule it as a job it fails. I checked the proxy account in the SQLAGent properties and there is a check mark there. But the job still fails.
I'm trying to run a job which moves data from one machine to another. I can manually execute the package successfully, but the job always fails. I get the dreaded error message 18456, "login failis for user "". I have double checked the logins for both machines,(sql server agent AND the sql server authentication). Also, I can run a select statement (from server_ to server_2) successfully from query analyzer i.e.
Select * from <linked_server_name>.<database>.<database_owner>.<table_name>
however, if I run this query from server_2 to server_1 I get the failed login message similar to the error message found in the job history. Since both servers accept nt logins, where is my problem? They are both set up as linked servers, and they are both mssql oledb. Any suggestions will be appreciated! thanks
I have a DTS Package that is used to dispatch mails to all the customers. When I execute the package manually by selecting it and then clicking Execute Package from the context menu, it executes to completion successfully. But when I schedule to execute it using Job, then I get the following error message:

FYI: This Package is under machine7. When I copy the package to my system (machine3) and execute it using Job, it succeeds
SQL Server is running on my PC. The server name is 'ASPEN'. When I create a DTS package to export a local database to our live site, I must use 'LOCAL' for the server name, not 'ASPEN'. Everything runs fine the first time, but later, when I try to execute, or even view, the local package I saved, I get the following error: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
I have a DTS package which when I execute it manually, it executes perfectly. I need to schedule it and therefore had to use the scheduler which would creata a job for the package. The problem is that job. It does not execute; it fails every time. The error message is: Sql server does not exist or access is denied.
I have tried to trouble-shoot by setting up an alias for the server in the client network utility for sql server. I also create a new dsn with the new alias. It still failed with the same error message. I edited the properties of the dts package to connect to the server's ip instead of it's alias or logical name. Still fails.
There is a DTS package that fails to run for one user. The DTS runs for other users. The DTS even runs when the user signs onto another Server.
The error message that the user gets is the following:
The number of failing rows exceeds the maximum specified. TransformCopy 'DTSTransformation_1' conversion error: Conversion invalid for datatypes on column pair 1 (source column 'F1' (DBTYPE_WSTR), destination column 'PostDt'(DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP))
As previously stated, if the user signs onto another Server with SQL Server on it, the DTS performs a successful transformation.
Has anyone seen this error. I've been looking over all roles and security and have not been able to find any differences between user setup.
I have an SSIS package that runs just fine in BI but when I go to run it as a job I get this error message:
SQL Server Scheduled Job Status: Failed - Invoked on: 2008-01-25 12:23:08 - Message: The job failed. The Job was invoked by User. The last step to run was step 1 (Step 1).
I have created a credential with domain admin rights and a proxy that uses the credential. The domain admin account is a member of the SQLServer2005SQLAgentUser group. The package protection level is set to EncryptSensitiveWithKey.
