Email Tasks Fail After An Unsuccessful SQL 2005 Installation

Dec 6, 2005

I tried installing SQL 2005 Dev Edition on my Win 2000 Professional machine. That failed. But now I cannot send out emails or even open a simple Email task from DTS. This is something that worked perfectly fine before I attempted the SQL 2005 installation. It seems that the SQL 2005 installation somehow messed up the the MAPI profile. The exact error message that I get when trying to execute or open a Email task in DTS is: CAnnot load MAPI Interface layer for DTS. Please make sure that semmap90.dll is installed.

SQL Server 2005 Fail Installation On Cluster

Sep 27, 2007

Hi,

A few months ago, I was trying to install SQL Server 2005 SP2 on a cluster (Active-Active), the Cluster has 3 instances, 2 lives in one node and the other one in the other node. When I try to make the deployment an error message appear, I do not have the error right now but it€™s something like €śCould not connect to the passive node, installation failed€?. The worst part of the error was all instances shut down and I couldn€™t bring on line and I have to reinstall all instances. I need to install SP2 but I€™m a little afraid fail again. Do you know the best way to deploy the SP2 on a cluster? Maybe move all instances in one node before install SP2? Can you help me with your comments. Do you think I have problems with the windows cluster?

Thanks and Regards,

Any help would be appreciated.

Changing Sa Password Causes Scheduled Tasks To Fail.

Feb 8, 2000

I recently changed the SA password on my SQL Server 6.5 installation and discovered that this had caused the Scheduled CmdExec Tasks (defined in SQL Executive) to fail with:

"Process Exit Code 1. Microsoft (R) SQLMaint Utility, Version 6.50.240 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation, 1995 - 1996 [Microsoft SQL-DMO] Error 4002: [SQL Server] Login failed"

Changing the password back to the original resolves the problem, but is a less than satisfactory solution.

Any advice on how I can change the SA password and allow CmdExec tasks to continue running would be gratefully appreciated.

Unistall Unsuccessful And Can Not See Microsoft SQL Server 2005 In Installed Programs List

Jul 7, 2006

I went through the install of the MS SQL Server 2005 Std Edt only to find that I can not open up the "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" since I was missing the exe to run it that should have been located at "C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEdevenv.exe".  Due to this happening it seemed to me that some of the install failed, so I went about trying to uninstall the SQL Server setup.  Within the "Add or Remove Programs" tool I selected the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" from the list and clicked on the button that said "Remove".  This did not seem to do anything except for remove the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" selection from that tool selection list.  It went way to quick and did not display any dialogs as it removed the engine.  Also I can still opent the Management Studio and see all the normal stuff and I can query the data within the databases.  The two part question is...

1)  How do I get the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 program relisted in the "Add or Remove Programs" tool's selection list?

2) How do I get the "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" installed correctly?

The only warning message I received during the install was in regards to the hardware not being quite up to par with amount of RAM.  I saw no errors within the install tool.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!!  Please let me know if anything else is needed to answer this question.

SQL 2012 :: Flat File Import Tasks Fail With Error 0xc02020a1

Aug 25, 2015

The import from Flat File Source fails: Error 0xc02020a1: Data Flow Task 1: Data conversion failed.

The data conversion for column "ArticleName" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".
(SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)

I have changed the size of the column "ArticleName" (varchar) to max but the error comes up again.

The data i want to import came with multiple flat files. They all could import properly but this one is a problem.

Scheduled Tasks Failing Because Of Email Notification

Jun 2, 1999

Good morning,

I have a strange problem with a scheduled task failing with the following:

"Unable to send completion notification email to operator with email name '' for task 2780, 'Scheduled Update'"

This job is the same across several servers and the job runs on the other servers. This is a bit frustrating... I cannot seem to find the difference that is causing the problem.

The funny thing is that I am not using SQLMail or anything to notify anyone regardless if the job succeeds or fails.

Any pointers?

Thanks much,

Don

Subscription Reports Fail To Email While Others In The Same Batch Work Fine.

Oct 25, 2007

SSRS 2000
Data driven subscription uses a SQL query to create report parameter values.

The subscription errors are inconsistent meaning sometimes no reports in a batch fail and sometimes 3 out of 5 will fail. I don't think it is data related because I'm using the same data each time.

When a report fails to email there is a consistent error related to rendering a chart. That message is in red below.

The data source is Analysis Services 2000. Has anyone seen this before? I've seen a lot of postings that are similar but no solutions. Is it possible for RS to lose data or get corrupt data from an MDX query?

Is there a timeout between RS and Analysis Services (PivotTable Service) to check?

SSRS trace log:

How To Update Data In The Database, My Attempt Was Unsuccessful.

Mar 17, 2007

I was hoping I could get this to work, so far I can access all the data from the database, but I also want to update it. I placed a button, updateBttn_Click event to update the database.It's not updating though and I am not gettting any errors. Could you please look at the update query in the update button and see if I have it right. Also, I think it might be because I have the first retrieval of the database tables set to  ExecuteReader(). Do I need to redo this and use ExecuteNonQuery somewhere else?Thanks in advance. using System;using System.Data;using System.Configuration;using System.Collections;using System.Web;using System.Web.Security;using System.Web.UI;using System.Web.UI.WebControls;using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts;using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;using System.Data.SqlClient;public partial class userpage : System.Web.UI.Page{    protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)    {        if (!IsPostBack)        {        usrnmeLbl.Text = PreviousPage.CurrentUser;        hiddenpassLbl.Text = PreviousPage.CurrentPass;        //Define database connection        SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(            "Server=localhost\SqlExpress;Database=MyDB;" + "Integrated Security=True");        //Create command        //SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand("SELECT UserName, Password, UserID FROM UsersTable WHERE UserName = '" + usrnmeLbl.Text + "'", conn);        //SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand("SELECT Father FROM FamHistTable WHERE UserID IN (SELECT UserID, UserName, Password FROM UsersTable WHERE UserName = '" + usrnmeLbl.Text + "')", conn);        //SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand("SELECT FamHistTable.Father FROM FamHistTable INNER JOIN UsersTable ON FamHistTable.UserID = UsersTable.UserID WHERE UsersTable.UserID = '" + usrnmeLbl.Text + "'", conn);        SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM FatherHistTable, MotherHistTable, UsersTable WHERE UsersTable.UserName = '" + usrnmeLbl.Text + "'", conn);        //Open connection        conn.Open();        //Execute the command        SqlDataReader reader = comm.ExecuteReader();        //Read and display the data            while (reader.Read())            {                string usr = reader["username"].ToString();                usr = usr.TrimEnd();                string pss = reader["password"].ToString();                pss = pss.TrimEnd();                if (usrnmeLbl.Text == usr)                {                    if (hiddenpassLbl.Text == pss)                    {                        readDB_Lbl.Text += reader["username"] + "<br />";                        //readDB_Lbl.Text += "Your User ID is: " + reader["UserID"] + "<br />";                        readDB_Lbl.Text += "Your Father's name is: " + reader["Father"] + "<br />";                        readDB_Lbl.Text += "Your Mother's name is: " + reader["Mother"] + "<br />";                    }                    else                    {                        readDB_Lbl.Text = "User and Password mismatch.";                    }                }            }                        reader.Close();        conn.Close();    }       }    protected void updateBttn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)    {        SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand("UPDATE FatherHistTable SET " + "'famUpdteDDL.SelectedItem.Value'" + "  = " + "'addPrsnTxtBx.Text'" + "WHERE UserName = " + "'usrnmeLbl.Text'");    }}

DTS Tasks Do Not Run On Clean Install Of 2005

Mar 13, 2008

Good afternoon.

I have an IS package that contains some legacy DTS tasks. The package does run successfully on some machines, but others not at all, generating a weird error that says "Error: The task failed to load. The contact information for the task is "Execute DTS 2000 Package Task;Microsoft Corporate...." There's more to the error but searching on it hasn't turned up any results so I'm not posting the entire thing. I can if requested.

On the server where the DTS packages fail, regular IS packages that contain no DTS legacy tasks run successfully, and the only difference between the machines that work and don't work is SQL Server 2000 is not and was never installed, whereas the machines that work are running 2000 and 2005. The servers where the tasks fail version 9.0.3050.

One thing I have noticed is that on the machines where DTS works there is an extra file in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSBinn called Microsoft.SqlServer.Exec80PackageUtil.dll. Copying the file to a non-working server did not solve the issue. I tried installing the backwards compatibility update but it said that a newer version was already installed.

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. If you need more information just ask and I would be happy to provide it.

Thanks again,

Kelly

Fail To Create CLR Function In SQL 2005

Apr 22, 2008

Can anyone help me to create a URL decode user defined function in SQL Server 2005?
I want to use the method [System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlDecode] in .net framework, and I try to add it as a CLR function to SQL Server but always fail. It depends on [System.Web.dll], and when I try to create assembly [System.Web] using following scripts, it will fail:

CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Web] FROM 'C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.Web.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE

Error:
CREATE ASSEMBLY for assembly 'System.Web' failed because assembly 'System.Web' is not authorized for PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE.
The assembly is authorized when either of the following is true:
the database owner (DBO) has UNSAFE ASSEMBLY permission and the database has the TRUSTWORTHY database property on;
or the assembly is signed with a certificate or an asymmetric key that has a corresponding login with UNSAFE ASSEMBLY permission.
If you have restored or attached this database, make sure the database owner is mapped to the correct login on this server. If not, use sp_changedbowner to fix the problem.

I have searched the MSDN and then add following scripts before mine:

ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] SET TRUSTWORTHY ON

CREATE ASYMMETRIC KEY SystemWebKey FROM EXECUTABLE FILE = 'C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.Web.dll'
CREATE LOGIN CLRLogin FROM ASYMMETRIC KEY SystemWebKey
GRANT UNSAFE ASSEMBLY TO CLRLogin

But unfortunately it fails again with same error.

Maintenance Plan Tasks In SSIS(Sql 2005)

Oct 10, 2006

I am finding difficult to set Expression Property "SelectedDatabases" in Check Databases Integrity Task in SSIS.

I keep getting error:

TITLE: Expression Builder
------------------------------

Expression cannot be evaluated.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The data type of variable "User::varDataset" is not supported in an expression.

Reading the variable "User::varDataset" failed with error code 0xC00470D0.

(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls)

I need the flexibilty to be able to control the Task behaviour during runtime through Variables.

Any suggestions .... or even a different approach will be helpful..

cheers

Mails I Try To Send Whereby Sql Server 2005 And Fail To Do So

Feb 18, 2008

Hi everyone
i get an error messgae running the following code

DECLARE @mailist VARCHAR(max)
SET @mailist=''
SELECT TOP 1 @mailist=@mailist + email +';'
FROM
email.dbo.mytable
SET @mailist=STUFF(@mailist,LEN(@mailist),1,'')
SET @mailist='''' + @mailist + ''''

EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail
@profile_name='my_mail_profile',
@recipients=@mailist,
@subject='mysubject',
@body_format='html',
@body=
'

At the other hand, if i assign a straightforward @recipints address such as

@recipients=my@mail.com

It works
Anybody know why ?

SQL Server 2005 Express Connection Fail. Please Help Me

May 16, 2006

Hi all,

When i attempted to connected to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express via ASP.NET 2.0 application, it seems to throw the following error.

I had set up the Protocols for Express (TCP/IP and Named Pipes are both enabled) to allow remote connections using both TCP/IP and named pipes.
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

How To Use Same Variable Between The Control Flow Tasks In SSIS 2005?

Apr 16, 2007

I want to get the start time of data load and end time after data load and store it in a table which has mapping_id , mapping_name,start_time,end_time.

i use ActiveXScript task to get the start time before data load and store the mapping_id in a global variable,then data flow transformation occurs.

i want to use a global variable to store the mapping id ,so that i can update the end time after data load with that variable.how to do this?

is there any other way, i can get the start and end time of data load (other than the logging information)?

Scale Out Architecture With High Availability (fail Over) - SQL 2005

Jun 12, 2007

I am in the process of designing a database infrasture layout that can virtually scale to an very large number of servers in efforts to improve performance. The Scale-out architecture vs. grid computing (something like Oracle RAC) seems to be the way to go. It may take a lot more work up front, but it seems very flexible in the long run.

One of the issues that I am trying to tackle is how should I grow this thing. Right now, I have one single 4 way server running SQL 2005 Ent. edt. We are planning on getting a second server as well as a Enterprise level San solution.

With my 2 goals in mind (Scale out architecture and High Avail) should I bring this second server online as a passive cluster node, or should I partition out the data across both nodes. Will clustering even be part of my fault tolerence plan or should I use replication?

Its hard to find a good answer as what is the *best* way to make this happen.

Any insight will be greatful...

Thanks!

Email Trigger In SQL 2005

Jun 2, 2006

I am new to developing as will be evident from this post. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I am developing an intranet for our company using ASP.NET with a SQL backend. I am currently working on a suggestion box form.

I would like to have an email sent to specific persons when a new entry is made in the suggestion table. I have been able to configure the trigger and generate the email (This was easy). Formatting the email has proven more difficult to resolve.

The format I would like is somewhat as follows:

F_NAME L_NAME submitted the following suggestion:

IDEA

BENEFIT

APPROVE | DECLINE

The items in RED are columns in the table and the Blue Underlines are hyperlinks to change the Status column in the table.

How can I generate the email to contain the data from the inserted record and in the above format.

Being new at this I only now how to send a static email advising that the entry has been made.

Any help creating the dynamic email form for this trigger will be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, what books are most helpful for SQL, ASP.NET, and VBScript referencing and examples?

Thanks

Mar 15, 2006

I am fairly new to MS SQL and an wondering if the following is possible;

Step 1 - person fills out a form on our website and submits it to our SQL DB via a stored procedure

Step 2 - the stored procedure inserts some of this information into a DB table and sends some of the information via the inbuild DBMail in an email.

Firstly, is this possible?

Sencondly, is there a way of encrypting this email before it is sent?
