Error 10005 On SQL 2005 Server Running Powerbuilder Application
Feb 22, 2008
We are having problems with users getting the 10005 error when running the application.
This is a new sql2005 server. The DB's are in sql2000 format as the vender is not ready to upgrade application totally to 2005.
The users will have 3 instances of the application open and just one fails.
MsSQL Server 2000PowerBuilder 8 Application20 client on LAN ethernet2 client on 64 K router-to-router LANon 2 remote client I have this error. There are two router Cisco whit idle-timeout on 1800 sec, but evry 1/2minutes on the 2 remote clients there are the error: 10005 dbprocessis dead or not enabled.this is a new problem after migration from SQL Server 6.5-PB7 to Sqlserver 2000-PB8.ThanksMax
If an application is reflecting timeout errors but there are no backups running, the network is fine and the data and log files are within normal parameters, what else could be the cause of the errors?
When trying to open the reports server \servername eports we are getting an error page titled "Server Error in '/Reports' Application." The server has been restarted, and as this is a new deployment, there has been very little access for individuals to make changes.
[Posting this in the security forum because in this forum I found a related post.]
I have a problem with SQL Server 2005 and application roles and pooling. I needed to use application roles and I needed to use pooling at the same time for an application. I am using sp_setapprole and sp_unsetapprole. In order to ensure that the application role is always set and unset by the application, I actually developed a custom Data Provider based on the SqlClient Data Provider. I have a custom Connection and Command class that wrap the SqlClient versions. Upon opening my custom Connection class, I execute the sp_setapprole stored procedure. Upon closing or disposing the connection, I call sp_unsetapprole.
This works fine in 99% of my tests. However, I have three or four methods (always the same ones, but one only fails ever so often) that fail, but only under the following circumstances:
Pooling is turned on (but pool size doesn't matter)
I am using my custom Data Provider (using System.Data.SqlClient does not cause this issue... but I am also not using approles then)
When other tests have run in the same test run. I.e. when I run the failing methods by themselves in a test run, there is no problem. So it seems to me that the problem is related to using application roles with pooling turned on. For scalability reasons, we cannot turn pooling off. When the methods fail, I see the following two (2) entries in the SQL Log:
Error: 18059, Severity: 20, State 1.
The connection has been dropped because the principal that opened it subsequently assumed a new security context, and then tried to reset the connection under its impersonated security context. This scenario is not supported. See "Impersonation Overview" in Books Online. I understand the error message somewhat. However, I am not sure why the "reset" of the connection occurs. My code does not call reset anywhere, so it must be something that happens in the background.
I am reviewing code to see if there is possibly a situation where the sp_unsetapprole procedure does not get called or does not get called successfully, but there is a lot of code (in many custom components).
I would like to know if anyone has a suggestion on how to solve this problem, or, find the code that may be causing the problem.
I am very frustrated. Everything works on the local host but when I upload to server I can login to the admin role I created, but when I try to access pages that have role priveleges I get the following error: The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file. The ASPNETDB.MDF database was uploaded using the Database Publishing Wizard. Please help!
How do I update and retrieve data which is of type image into/from SQL Server database in Powerbuilder 4.0.06 scripts? I`ve tried using SELECTBLOB and UPDATEBLOB, but it doesn`t work. I wanted to use WRITETEXT, UPDATETEXT and READTEXT in stored procedure, but SQL Server doesn`t allow datatype image to be passed in as a parameter. I also tried using the WRITETEXT directly in Powerbuilder scripts as follows: WRITETEXT tablename.colname :ptr :graphics;
where ptr and graphics are local variables in PB scripts. ptr is supposed to be of type varbinary in SQL Server syntax. However, there is no equivalent datatype in PB. graphics is of type BLOB in PB scripts which is equivalent to image in SQL Server syntax.
How to find a running application in SQL Server? Hi In SQL Server (7.0, 2000), we know HOST_NAME() in a DEFAULT definition is used to record the workstation name of computers. But I need to find the name of the application which interacts my DB from the workstations. Is it possible? Please help me Regards Ahmed Sahib ibnukuraish@gmail.com
Hi Guys, I have already spent so many days in trying to find a solution to this problem but ..all in vain.... so please help me.
I have to send message to my running .Net [Asp.Net with C#] application from sql server. How can i do it? We should not use notification services. Please give me some examples / links. Thanks in advance!
I am developing an ETL system on a 32-bit machine let's say, called 'dwdev'. The application connects to a Sybase database as a source system using ODBC connection. I am able to run this application directly from Visual studio 2005 and i am able to deploy it into SQL Server 2005 and run it from Server as a job. Both work. At this server i am connecting to a SQL Server instance called 'dwdev'.
When i transfer my application onto a 64-bit machine, let's say called 'dwtest', i am able to run my application from Visual Studio 2005 properly and it works, but when i deploy it into SQL Server (instance is called 'dwtest') and try to run it as a job just like the development machine, it gives an error and stops executing.
I was facing 'data source' type of error when i was first trying it from Visual Studio, but i solved this problem by setting Run64bitRunTime settings to FALSE on the Project's properties Debugging Page, at 64-bit machine. now it uses 32-bit runtime then 32-bit Sybase ODBC driver. But i cannot force the application to use 32 bit runtime when i am executing it from SQL Server as a job.
How can i do that? is there an alternative method?
While executing DTS packages in SQL 2005 64-bit Enterprise Edition (we haven't moved to SSIS yet), I am seeing the following message in the log files, even though the DTS package runs successfully and does what it is supposed to do:
GetRegValue(): Unable to RegQueryValueEx() The operation completed successfully.
From the expression itself, it looks like something to do with registry. But, nowhere in the DTS package I am reading or querying the registry, so I am not sure why the DTS package is trying to access registry.
Executing the same DTS package in SQL 2000 does not have this problem.
Can somebody please help..?? I've had one instance when this DTS package ran successfully but did not transfer the data, it basically ran without doing anything. I am thinking this message in the log file might be related to this behiviour. Did anybody else come across this issue..?? Is there a solution to it..?? Can somebody please help...??
I have a site I created in .Net 2.0 the site is using sql server 2000 on the network. On the development machine the site is working as it should. I have also installed sqlexpress on the web server. I then push the site up to my server and I get the "unable to access sql 2005 pipes error". I installed vs2005 on the web server. when I run the app in vs2005 I don't get any errors and the application comes up. The app's connection string is placed in the web config file. I also changed the sqlexpress for local and remote logins. What else could be the problem. I have never seen this before. And all the non DB sites work! Enviroment: Webserver Windows Server 2003, .Net 2.0 framework, iis6, sqlexpress, vs2005 Database SQL2003

I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings) - Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories - Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database - Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService
When I open http://localhost/reports/, I get the following error:
I have check a bunch of forums, but have no success. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm attempting to use RDA to synchronize a pocket pc emulator with SQL Server 2005 database by following tutorial http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa454892.aspx, which uses AdvWorksMobile database that comes with SQL Server 2005.
When get to testing of "To test application features " ( step 4 of the merge replication setup lab ), I am receiving SQLCe Exception errors.
ORIGINALLY, I was able to deploy an application and view the local database on the emulator, but once I clicked "InitSinc" button, I received an error.
"Failure to connect to SQL Server with provided connection information. SQL Server does not" exist, access is denied because the SQL user is not a valid user on the SQL Server, or the password is incorrect. Found this error listed in Server Agent Errors log http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172357.aspx, but it wasn't very helpful since it doesn't provide any suggestions on fixing the problems.
I am brand new to SQL CE Server , mobile programming and .NET framework in general so please bare with me
All the connections / security settings, etc that were set up were taken from a tutorial so I am not sure what SQLCeServer is complaining about. Reading up on the error on the web didn't help, it all pointed to making sure that the snapshot folder had correct permissions set up. I verified that MACHINENAMEUISR_MACHINENAME guest user had Read rights to the database so I don't think that piece is the problem. Otherwise ,Merge publication has been setup in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by following the tutorial.
I am trying to run this sync on my home pc so there should be no issues with any user permissions
I have IIS installed
I did NOT have SQL Server Agent running in management studio at this time
I am trying to run this tutorial on an XP machine, which is my regular home PC so I dont think there are any special networking settings to consider
I am able to hit http://localhost/AdvWorksMobile/sqlcesa30.dll from my pc OK, but when I try to hit it from a cradled emulator ( after replacing "localhost" with "MACHINE_NAME" ), Internet Explorer on the emulator gives me a "Cannot Connect With Current Settings" error message. This part wasn't part of tutorial but decided so not sure if I am supposed to be able to hit it from my emulator..so I am not sure if the fact that I can't hit it is related to the problem. AFTER STARTING SQL SERVER AGENTin Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I killed the application, and after relaunching it, it hits "The Specified table does not exist [Vendor]" error. This time it doesn't even launch first - that is I dont even get to pressing "InitSinc" button. Debugger is showing that this error is hit on the following line in AdvWorksMobile.AddWorksDataSetTableAdapters
int returnValue = this.Adapter.Fill(dataTable);
I am not sure why the errors changed on me after starting SQL Server Agent. What can I do to fix this connection problem?
I have been researching this problem on the net. I have everything setup, here is the wierd part. I did a test windows application, and that application connects into my database just fine. I have SQL DEV 2005, everything is on my laptop. I have websites that I have wrote that connects fine.
I have application that give me this error. Now the only thing is that I wrote this windows app on a diffrent machine, with a diffrent SQL 2005 server. I had to move everything on my laptop, so I can finish on site at the clients place. So I grabbed the project, copied it over, and opened it on my laptop. No problems. I created a new database, scripted everything from the other server, and ran those scripts on my laptop to create the tables, SP etc.
Now my test application I created on my laptop, I can connect to the databse just fine with this string.
I can also connect to the database that I brought over from the other server. Could there be somthing with the Datasets, or something like that? Any Thoughts?
I am trying to modify my MS SQL 2005 database by PowerDesigner model using PowerDesigner built-in Modify feature.
PD however seems to have problems reverse engineering the database.
I get tons of errors like this: Reverse engineering tables... Table _MyTable Unable to list the columns. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared. SQLSTATE = 37000
It also seems that it generates incompatible SQL code when modifying the database. E.g. (Parentheses after nonclustered violates syntax)...
create table _H_IpNetworkToVlanNetwork ( ipNetAddress bigint null, vpnNetId int null default 0, vlanId int null, _ChangeDate datetime null, _ChangeType int null, constraint PK__H_IPNETWORKTOVLANNETWORK primary key nonclustered () ) go
What may be wrong? Do I have badly configured PowerBuilder? Or maybe badly configured ODBC data source?
I have installed SQL 2005 and was trying to run one of the Samples. I installed SQL as an instance, but when I run the setup script, it fails because it can not assign permissions to the ASPNET account.
It looks like it thinks the account is ServerNameInstanceNameASPNET, but it should be ServerNameASPNET.
have SQL Server 2005 std edition SP1 installed on Windows 2003 Std edition .Configured Transactional (single Publisher and no clustered environment.) Replication past two months working fine, Now 1.Distrib.exe application err is coming.
Due to which my job is failing (Distributor to Subscriber). Iam attaching thw file. Thanks Sandeep
I am trying to execute an SSIS package from an MS Access 2003 database that imports a table from the Access database into a target table in SQL 2005. I saved the package in SQL 2005 and tested it out. If I run it from the Management Studio Console with Run->Execute ... everything works just fine. However, if I try to run it using "Exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'DTExec /SER DATAFORCE /DTS SQL2005TestPackage /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V'" the execution will always fail when the Access database is open (shared mode). It will only work when the Access database is not open. The connection manager looks like this: "Data Source=E:Test.mdb;Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Jet OLEDB:Global Bulk Transactions=1". The error is listed below:
Code: 0xC0202009 Source: NewPackage Connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB" Description: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Could not use ''; file already in use.".
Hi, I am running SQL Server 2005 x64 DE on Vista x64. I installed MS VS 2005 Pro. Edition. During the setup of VS, I did a custom install, un-checking the SQL Express addition box. After installation, I received errors that indicated the SQL Express did not install. Even though I do not have SQL Express installed on my machine, MS Update says that I need SQL Express SP2. My SQL DE is up to date with SP2 and MS Update indicates as "optional" that I need SQL SP2.
Is SQL Express a necessity for VS Pro? If not, why is MS Update indicating that I need SQL Express SP2? In addition, why is MS Update telling me I need SQL SP2 when it is already installed?
Note: I installed SQL SP2 manually, not through MS Update. This makes me believe that MS Update is not detecting it.
I'm having some problems debugging SQL Server stored procedures on a SQL Server 2005 server. I have installed Visual Studio 2005 on a workstation running Windows XP, now I'm trying to debug a ASP.Net web application that has some code that executes the stored procedures on a Windows 2003 Server running SQL Server 2005.
I opened VS2005 ... created a connection to the SQL Server 2005 instance ... open the Stored procedure ... right click the stored procedure name and selected Step into Stored Procedure and the following message is displayed:
Unable to start T-SQL debugging.Could not attach to SQL Server process on 'ServerName'.
We are having SQL2000 Advance Server. 4 processor with hypherthreading, Memory 4 GB and it is a high transactional OLTP server. We are also running Transaction Replication on that server.
We recently bought Double Take and implemented on the server with File Difference with block check sum option for Disaster Recovery Purpose. The Queue and the Log file folder is on local drive where the system doesn't use that folder except double take.
We are replicating from Source to Taget thru the WAN (DS3).We are replicating approx. 200 Gig of Data but just the difference. Now the CPU usage is normal,Memory utilization is normal, but the network is a major problem as the Applications connecting to the Server timesout and the applications running very slow.
We have set just like the Tech support recommended.
I would appreciate, if someone give us some recommendations to run the double take without any problem.
I have an asp.net web application and a web service (both of them are created in VS 2005 - asp.net 2.0). They are located on the same web server. In both web.config files, I have set <authentication mode="Windows"/> and <identity impersonate="true"/>. Also, configured the IIS settings to use Integrated Windows Authentication and unchecked the Anonymous access (for both). The web service is called from the web app, so I have to pass credentials for authentication to the web service. The web service loads and executes a SSIS package. The package and all the other sql objects are located in the sql server 2005 (windows server 2003 - the same server as the web server).
When run the web service from develop environment (vs. 2005), I get whatever I expected. When call it from web application, however, the package failed (no error message).
In the SSIS package, there are three connection managers €“ · A: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0 à connectionType=OleDbConnection · B: .Net Providers SqlClient Data Provider à connection type=SqlConnection · C: Native OLE DB Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server à connectionType=OLEDB
After ran the web application and check the sql database, I can tell that the package was reached and when through the first two steps (clear some records in table_1 and extract some records from table_2 ) which relate to the connection manager B €“ ADO.Net connection. The remaining steps failed which are related to the connection managers A & C.
From SSIS package log file, found that the user credentials (domain and username) were correctly passed from web service to sql server 2005 at the first two events, but the credentials (or operator) changed from domainABCuser123 to NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE after packageStart. Then, it complains €¦ either the user, domainABCserverName$, does not have access to the database, or the database does not exist.
I think the credentials are passed ok but some setting related to the Analysis services are not correct - complaining start from there. Any clues?
Hopefully someone can help. I am not new to SQL Server, but am new to SSIS packages. As one step of my package I need to open and run a windows application. No problem there right? But, my problem is that I cannot get the "focus" returned back to the SSIS package. It doesnt move on to the next step until I close the windows application. It is like the package is the parent object waiting for a "finished" message from the child object, and it doesn't receive that message until the child object is closed. I've tried using a batch file to run the app and calling the batch file from an Execute Process Task, but that doesn't move onto the next step until the dos command prompt window closes and I can find a way to automatically close it from XP. I also can't find a way to kick off this windows app from a script task using command line. Not sure if I would run into the same problem going that route or not. If anyone can help, i would appreciate it.
I have just upload my site to a which is going to be host the site, the thing is the site runs great on my PC. But when i login or do a search i get an error " Server Error in '/' Application" i know its something to do with the Web config as i read something on here about it but i cant find that post now. What am i missing here? Ps Im new to ASP. Thanks
Hi guys, I been having a problem, I have a project in asp.net 2.0 connecting to a database in sql server 2000, which works well if I run it from the VDE 2005, but when I pass the project to the IIS it fails, it gives me this error:

I have created some reports and published them in a customised web site(company dashboard server). Once I click the report, it opens up with Internet Explorer provided by the company(I guess report viewer is embeded in IE). I am having a strange problem. I have an application that to connects to SQL Database in SQL Server 2005. When I run the application with Visual Studio everything works fine but when I deploy the application on my web server and then to access the site . I get an error : Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. For some reason the application is not passing the user name . I have checked the IIS and authentication is set to Integrated Windows Authentication .
My connection string is correct as well
<add name="xxxxx" connectionString="Data Source=xxxxxx;Initial Catalog=xxxx;Integrated Security=SSPI" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> I will appreciate any kind of assistance in this matter. Thanks
I am trying to call a view that is already in SQL Server 2005 from my ASP.NET 2.0 application. I get the following error message: The request for procedure 'vwMyView failed because 'vwMyView' is a view object. I thought I could call a view the same way that I call a stored procedure but I guess I was wrong. How can I fix this? Here is some sample code too: Dim Results As DataSetDim Cmd As IDbCommand Dim Adapter As IDbDataAdapter Results = New DataSet Cmd = DB.CreateCommandCmd.CommandText = "vwMyView" Cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure Adapter = DataSource.CreateDataAdapter Adapter.SelectCommand = Cmd DB.Open() Cmd.Connection = DB Adapter.Fill(Results) Cmd.Dispose() DB.Close() Return Results
Hi I can't connect to sql server 2005 from my asp.net web page. I seem to be able to connect to it when i run the application from within visual studio but i can't connect to it when i run the application from IIS.I am new to sql server 2005 express so please bear with me.The error message i get is: Cannot open database "Vets" requested by the login. The login failed.Login failed for user 'OSCAR2K4ASPNET'.I don't know where this user OSCAR2K4ASPNET came from but i looked in sql server 2005 and there he is. In the left hand pane I went to Security and then logins and found oscar2k4asp.net there. I went to the properties for this user and went to User Mappings. There was no tick next to my Vets database so I added one and ran the application from IIS. I also added the user to every single role in the vets database (including dbowner). I also went into the vets database itself and found the oscar/aspnet user and made sure he was added to every role. I ran the application again. This time i got a lots of different errors. If the page was trying to run a select procedure I got the error user does not have select permission. If the page was running an SP i got the error or user does not execute permission I have never had this problem before so I don't understand.Where did this user come from? Was he created automatically when i configured my database for membership and roles? How do i set up this user so he can access the databsae from IIS. The only way I could get the application to run from IIS was to go to Security - Logins for sql server and add the oscar2k4asp.net user to the sysadmin role. I find this very strange. Naturally i don't want to leave oscar2k4 in sysadmin. Please help :) I can't upload my website until i fix this Thanks, andrea
