Hallo, my problem is to upgrade instance of SQL7 to SQL7 SP4.
Server is WIN2K SP4 + MDAC 2.8 SP1
Installing the SQL7 Server from CD is OK.
When i try to apply the SQL7 SP4 the first fase, when SP4 checks all conditions to start is OK, when start to copy file i receive an error -113 like this
On server is installed the library SQLDMO.DLL for SQL2000 but only the library used by an application VB6.
In need to install SQL7 and i can't install SQL2000 or SQL2005 because we work with an application written for SQL7. I've tried to migrate application SQL2000 but not work properly.
I had SQL 2000 Eval version installed on my system. After installing SP2 all my dynamic website stopped working. However, I am able to access the database using EM and QA. Once, I create connection string in asp and try to connect through browser, it gives me the following error:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005) [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I am trying the same thing using ASP.NET, I get: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What could be the problem? If I am not able to solve this problem all my site will not work. Please reply as soon as possible.
I am having the server with service pack 1.0. I want to upgrade this as service pack 2.0. In the server I installed Service Pack 2.0, this gives an error message datafilescripts is not updated to v6.x to v7.0.
I dont know how to resolve the problem. Tell me how to resolve it. Thanks in advance.
We have SQL Server 6.5. We planned to go for Service Pack 5a. Right now SP3 is running on SQL. I went through the "Microsoft Site", we also noted down some information from the site. In our server we didn't set any password for 'sa'. In the Documentation they hv given some options for setup. I am not able to follow that. Can anybody explain to me what options I hv to give while I execute the setup.exe for "SP5a" and Can anybody please tell me what precautions we have to take before installing the SP5a?.
We have successfully been using MSCS with MSSQL7 (SP1) running under NT4 EE (SP6a), installed in an active/active configuration using, two DELL PowerEdge 6350 machines. Recently I installed MSSQL7 (SP2), I followed the instructions that came with SP2, and unclustered the SQL nodes using the Failover Cluster Wizard, and installed SP2, this was uneventful, and appeared to install correctly. Next I tried to recluster the SQL nodes using the Failover Cluster Wizard as directed. This failed with: "Could not run setup on remote machine. SQL Cluster Setup failed." So I began the usual research using the usual resources, and have found articles that discusses this error, and the things to look for when it happens. I have exhausted all suggestions without success. I appear to have everything correctly configured. I have enabled Cluster Logging (level 3), following are the two things I have found that indicate something is wrong:
1. In the SQL Error Log the following gets logged when I run the wizard: "Attempting to initialize Distributed Transaction Coordinator." "Failed to obtain TransactionDispenserInterface: XACT_E_TMNOTAVAILABLE"
2. In the Cluster Log I see the following message repeatedly: "[ClRtlCopySecurityDescriptor] MakeSelfRelativeSD failed, 0x00000551"
3. In the sqlclstr.log I see the following, without an indication of which file is missing: "[reghelp.h:235] : 2 (0x2): The system cannot find the file specified." "[clushelp.cpp:166] : 259 (0x103): No more data is available." "[validate.cpp:147] DeleteTestGroup:OpenClusterResource: 5007 (0x138f): The cluster resource could not be found." "~~~ XXX InstallRemote failed"
Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this problem? Many thanks in advance.
I am doing drillthrough from ReportA to ReportB via the Date field on ReportA. In Report Manager, all is well. However, when run through a custom app using asp.net and the report viewer control, the behavior was erratic. sometimes it would work. sometimes it would merely bring up the ReportA again and i would have to click Date again and then it would work.
a coworker recommended the Report Viewer fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933137. Since the redistributable was not present in Add/Remove programs on my test box, i installed the full version. I then started up the .net app in debug and ran ReportA and drilled through to ReportB several times and could not make it fail. I was happy.
Since the redistributable was not present on the production box, i installed the full install there as well. However, the erratic report viewer behavior continued.
I decided to try runnign ReportB directly instead of via the drill through from ReportA. ReportB had always run perfectly on its own. When i try to use the graphical date selector control, the results are different depending on the machine I use.
1. If i am using my test box, and i run ReportB directly via the app in debug mode, i get a runtime error indicating Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required. It then points to Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd at the GetObjectPosition(obj) function.
2. If i am using my test box and go out to the live production website, i get the same runtime error.
3. If i am using another machine and go out to the live production website, the data selector control merely seems to refresh the report. This is the same behavior i get when using the production server and going out to the live website.
The redistributable has been uninstalled from both the test box and the production box. This did not change the behavior described above.
All of the Microsoft.ReportViewer items in C:Windowsassembly indicate version 8.0.0.0.
Any help would be grand. Also, please let me know if I should cross post this in the .Net forums.
I'm installing SQL7 on an NT4 SP5 server. It tells me it needs to check the ODBC drivers but then says they are being held by an application. There are no ODBC drivers installed on this machine to be held. What do I do? Install some drivers?
I have SQL 2005 Express installed. When I try to apply service pack 1 to this by going through the upgrade process, I get an error ' THe installer has encountered an unexpected error. The error code is 2259. Table(s) update failed'
I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition (from CD) on my IBM PC with XP Operating System. During set up, I get a error message (see below) telling me about a Service Pack requirement. When I click on the link provided in the error message, it does not lead to any service pack download.
I'm trying to read thru these forum posts, it seems that there is a service pack that I need to download after installing SQL Server 2005. But how can I install the pack after when I can't install SQL Server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is more information about the version of windows my PC has.
My PC: Windows Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633:Service Pack 1)

We deploy an application that uses SQL Server Express 2005. One of our test engineers tried to use our setup on Windows XP SP 3. But the SQL server installer gave an error - unable to update msxml6r.dll. Is this a bug of the SQL Server installer or do we need to make use of a more recent version of msxml6?

I have been asked to install Sql 7 on a Win2K server. I am looking for White papers, articles, postings etc which identify potential issues or known issues. I have looked through MSDN, Win2K, Microsoft Sql7 and TechNet for specifics. Any suggestions?
I'm getting error '0x2B22' when trying to install the SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. It looks like it downloaded alright because the Windows Update says the download size is 0KB. The help for this error just says: "This error is returned when an NT service cannot be restarted."
Any ideas on what I can do to get this installed???

Does Anyone know if there is a way to verify the SQL Service Pack Version on 7.0 on Windows 2000 Advanced server?
I'm getting this results for select @@version
Microsoft SQL Server 7.00 - 7.00.623 (Intel X86) Nov 27 1998 22:20:07 Copyright (c) 1988-1998 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 1)
I installed Service Pack 5 on SQL 7.0 successfully, but when I go back to run @@version, it gives me Service Pack 2 which is the old pack. Does anyone know why and had an experience with this?? Thanks wonderful people!!!
I have a cluster server, with SP3 coming out I wanted to upgrade the SP2 I have right now, when I start SP3 installation it starts and quickly exits from the program. DO I need to uncluster the server before applying SP3? or there is a way arround it?
has anyone had this experience before after we installed service pack 2 our jobs are taking about 10hrs, some run it says it's succesfull but it didn't update the tables.
I have installed service pack-1 on SQL SERVER 7.0 Standard Edition. After the pack is installed @@version is still showing 7.00.623 instead of 7.00.699 HELP !!!
Does anyone else have any concern about this Watson technology creeping in to SQL Server in SP3? I don't like it in Explorer and I'm sure not going to like it in SQL Server!
BTW, Forrest article about the new security patches at http://www.databasejournal.com/news/article.php/1475241 is in error, I think, when it refers to SP4.
Is the sql server 2000 service pack 3 worth applying to production database server or should I still wait. i do have sql 2000 service pack 2 on the server ?
