Error 945: Inaccessible Files

Jun 17, 2008

Msg 945, Level 14, State 2, Line 1
Database 'Northwind' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details.

I keep getting that error for just trying to USE Northwind. I don't understand why this problem is occurring. It was working fine for the past few weeks. Yesterday something happened to the DB and it said something about recovery to which I accidentally clicked cancel. From then on I can't access some of the DB that I have on my computer.

I'm fairly new to the SQL Server Environment so I would appreciate any and all help that can be provided. I've google searched the details but I can't seem to get any of those to work. Thanks in advance for your reply.

SQL 2012 :: Model Database Files Missing - Inaccessible Or Corrupt

Aug 12, 2015

Been practicing DR strategies with a test SQL instance by following the scenarios listed here: [URL] ....

> Took a backup of the Model database
> Stopped SQL Server
> Deleted model database data & log file
> Started SQL Server and it obviously wouldn't start because TempDB needs a model database present.
> Started SQL instance with trace flags 3608 & 3609
> Connected to SQL instance using command prompt.
> Issued restore command but was met with this error:

Shared Memory Provider: The pipe has been ended.

And found this in the SQL log..

Has anyone seen this error related to SSIS? I get this everytime I try to perform any action on (import, export, or run) a file system package. I am racking my brain and I would prefer not to perform a full reinstall, but I am not seeing any posts that have helped with this error.

Part Of My Records Are Inaccessible...

Jan 8, 2008

Something strange just happened to my database.Windows Vista UltimateSQL Server 2005 SP2IIS 7.0I just did an insert into a few tables from my ASP.NET application that I'm building and I suddenly cannot query the database tables.  The query window just spins and finally times out.So I decided to try a SELECT TOP and tried 100, nothing, then 10, nothing, then 1 and it returned the first row.  Then I tried 2 and got that, and I remember this table had 8 rows prior to my last Insert, and once I tried to select TOP 9, it times out again.Does anyone knows why this happened and how to fix it?  It's like every row past 8 either doesn't exist or got corrupted somehow. I can't even drop the table and rebuild it.  SQL Server won't let me.  If someone doesn't have a solution, I'll have to rebuild the entire database and I'd rather not have to do that.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Kahanu

Views From Linked Server Inaccessible

Jul 2, 2007

Please help.

I created a linked server with Oracle Provider for OLE DB to Oracle Database from SQL Server 2000 SP 4. Afterwards I created Views from this linked server and granted SQL Server users "select" access to the Views.
Unfortunately when they try to access the views the following error message was generated (see the attached image - error.gif).

Can someone please explain to me what is wrong?

Thanks

SQL 7 Database Inaccessible After Restore Was Cancelled Mid Stream

May 24, 2001

Hi,

I have a problem with a database on our SQL 7 system . I had set away a restore from tape, but cancelled it after users complained that a different database was performing slowly . However, this has resulted in the database being marked as inaccessible when trying to access it through SQL Enterprise Manager and trying to access it through Query Analyser produces message 927 informing me that the database is in the middle of a restore . How do I remove this error and make the database accessible again??

Many thanks in advance

Script Component - DataType Property Inaccessible

Dec 19, 2007

Hi,

I have a trouble with script component. From time to time, I cannot see available data types of the column I´m just editing, in the Script component editor. The cell in the section Data Type properties, where normally combobox with data types is, is completelly black. This happens both with "old" script components I'm only viewing and new script component I'm creating.

This problem occured for the first time immediately after I migrated from Windows XP to Vista Bussiness 64bit and then several times without any obvious similarity among terms under which this appeared.

I have SP2 for SQL Server and SP1 for VisualStudio 2005 Professional edition installed.

Please, can you help me?

Thanks

Inaccessible VAMT Database After Change Host Name

Jun 30, 2015

I am not MS SQL Developer, and I have no experience with it. I have had to use it as a part VAMT database of keys and activation.

There is 8.1 box with MS SQL (express I think).

After change host name I cannot connect to database with error "The specified database is not a valid VAMT database."

Looking into log gives me: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'litkjonca', error code 0x534."

Some googling suggest to use:
sp_dropserver "..." and sp_addserver '...', local
but with no effect .

Sysem.Data.SqlServerCe.SyncStatus' Is Inaccessible Due To Its Protection Level

Jul 28, 2006

I made a merge replication and sucessfully connected with mobile device. Everything works fine. Because I wanna try asynchronous synchronization (which won't stop my application executing when subscribing) I read How to example from MSDN :
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172391.aspx
But there is a problem with creating SyncStatus class object. I can't get into it and I can't create. maybe some reference will help? (I use reference to SQLServerCE). This error stoped my work for now, so I am waiting for some answers.

And if it's simple resolution for this problem - sorry. I just started programming applications for Mobile Devices.

Sql Server 2005 Dev Edition Error - Unexpected Error While Updating Installed Files

Feb 14, 2007

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition onto a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine, but unfortunately each time that I attempt to install I receive an error message in the summary log as follows:

Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Product Version: 9.00.1399.06
Install : Failed
Log File : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup
Last Action : InstallFinalize
Error String : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Updating Installed Files.
The error is : Fatal error during installation.
Error Number : 29528

There is probably a simple solution for the issue but unfortunately I am unaware of what it is? I can€™t tell if the issue is specific to registry settings, security, file types, etc€¦ The information below surrounds the error w/in the log, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks, Jennifer

Flat File Source Error Output Conversion Error With UNICODE Files

May 14, 2008

i have a weird situation here, i tried to load a unicode file with a flat file source component, one of file lines has data like any other line but also contains the character "ÿ" which i can't see or find it and replace it with empty string, the source component parses the line correctly but if there is a data type error in this line, the error output for that line gives me this character "ÿ" instead of the original line.

simply, the error output of flat file source component fail to get the original line when the line contains hidden "ÿ".

i hope you can help me with issue.

Thanks in advance.

Move Bad Files To Error

Oct 1, 2007

Hi,

I am looping a set of .txt files in a folder using foreach.

Inside foreach, I have a Dataflow task that does the transformation. After that i have added a File System that moves file to archive.

However, If the user puts any other file instead of a .txt file, i want to move the file to Error folder and this should be before the DataFlow starts within foreach.

How can i do this? I want to use script to read the file extension and then move it to the error.

Out Of Memory Error Inserting Files

Oct 4, 2007

Hello.
I'm working with SQL Server 2005 Standard edition.
I have a Java program that loads PDF files into the database. I have a table called T08_entity which, among others, has two IMAGE columns. The first Image column is for the original PDF file. The second one is for the PDF file with modified permissions (printing, saving, etc). This is made using the i-text library.
The programs looks for the content of a disk folder, reads the contents of the folder, and inserts, one by one, the pdf files (besides other fields, like the name of the file, and ID, etc... but these are varchar or int fields. No problem with these.
When the folder has only small files (smaller that 7-8 mb), it loads them without any problem into the database. But when the folder has bigger files (>10mb, more or less...) I get an OUT OF MEMORY error.
I'm using the latest sqljdbc.jar driver (v1.2.2727). My server computer has only 1GB of RAM... but I've read that this latest driver can load big amounts of binary data using the connection property "responseBuffering=adaptive".
Here is a sample of my code (at least the most relevant lines):

This is my connection code:

public String getConnectionUrl(){
return "jdbc:sqlserver://"+serverName+":"+portNumber+";databaseName="
+databaseName+";responseBuffering=adaptive;selectMethod=cursor";
}

public java.sql.Connection getConnection(){
try{

...

Class.forName("com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver");
con = java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(getConnectionUrl(),userName,password); if (con.getAutoCommit())
{
con.setAutoCommit(false);
}
...
}
catch(Exception e){
System.out.println("etc, etc...");
}
return con;
}

The following is a loop where each loop represents a file in the folder:

File[] contenido = archivo.listFiles();
for(int i=0;i<contenido.length;i++)
{
if (contenido[i].isDirectory())
{
procesarDirectory(contenido[i]);
}else
{
insertDirectory(contenido[i]);
}
}

...And this is the insertDirectory procedure which inserts every file: the pdffile and pdffilenoperm are the IMAGE columns. The rest are varchar or int columns:

public void insertDirectorio(File archivo) {...if (archivo.isFile()){ pstmt =con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO temp_carga "+ "(directory, name, dir_sup, filetype, pfilesize,pdffile,pdffilenoperm)"+ " values (?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"); }...
long tamano = archivo.length();

pstmt.setString(1,pdffile.getPath());
pstmt.setString(2,pdffile.getName());
pstmt.setString(3,pdffile.getParent());

pstmt.setString(4,filetype);

if (pfilesize != 0) {
pstmt.setLong(5,pfilesize);
}
else
{
pstmt.setString(5,null);
}

if (pdffile.isFile()) {
try{

//INSERTS ORIGINAL FILE................
int fileLength = Integer.MIN_VALUE;
is = new FileInputStream(pdffile);
fileLength= (int) pdffile.length();
pstmt.setBinaryStream(6, is, fileLength);

//INSERTS FILE WITHOUT PERMISSIONS
(THIS PART OF THE CODE IS LONG AND IRRELEVANT, IT JUST USES THE ITEXT LIBRARY TO MODIFY THE PDF FILE. AT THE END, I HAVE THE FILE IN AN OUTPUT STREAM, AS SHOWN HERE:)
ByteArrayInputStream inputnoimp = new ByteArrayInputStream(outnoimp.toByteArray());
pstmt.setBinaryStream(7,inputnoimp,(int)outnoimp.size());
} catch(Exception e) {
err = e.toString();
}
}
pstmt.executeUpdate();
con.commit();
pstmt.close();
this.closeConnection();
}catch(java.sql.SQLException e) {
err = e.toString();
}
}

Well, as I said, when I run the program, when it reads smaller files, there's no problem. But when it gets a big file, I get the OUT OF MEMORY error. I have another application that reads pdf files ONE AT A TIME, using a code very much like this one, and it reads big files (>30mb) with no problems. The problems is with this one.
Any help will be appreciated. If you have any question to clarify the problem, just tell me.
Thanks in advance.
Eric.

I have created a FTP task that logs into FTP server and receives files and scheduled it to run every 15min. However, it fails when there are no files on FTP. How would I check the if files exist? How can I catch the FTP task error and compare it to Hresults.NoFilesFound in a script task?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pakcage Error...How To Read Files On A Different Domain?

Mar 2, 2006

So did some troubleshooting on the my previous post -http://forums.microsoft.com/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=272319&SiteID=1

Thanks to everyone who tried to help... So I got some insight into what is happening.

My package was having trouble reading files on a remote domain although I mapped the drives locally. This does not cause either running the package to failed either through directly running under VSS, or Execution Utility. But it failed when I try to schedule it through SQL server agent.

I wonder if it is the security context problem and asking for help of how to get around that issue.

So I have a for each file loop container that retrieve filenames on a remote domain which has a different security account then my local account. So how I got around that was to map that drive locally to a drive letter...example W:

then I use W: as my path within my package. I was trying to figure out where I can declare the connection within my package specifically, but don't know if I could do that.

If I run this through VSS or exectuion utility, it works okay. I was able to see W: and all the files on that mapped drive and read in the data.

However, when I schedule it under SQL agent, it doesn't see any files then exited the package as success right the way, because it has nothing to do....

So is there a different between the security context on mapped drive between VSS and my SQL agent? If so...How do I get around that challenge?

BTW, the two domain do not have share accounts between each others. I had to specified and map the drives explicitly.

THANKS!
JON

Script Files Failed To Load Error

Feb 24, 2006

Hi all,

I have a package with a number of script components. All are set "PreCompile=True".

Within a Sequence Container I have a set of five script tasks each followed by an Execute Process Task. Each pair is linked but the five pairs are independent (hope this makes sense).

The first pair executed successfully but the other four all failed with the "Script files failed to load" error.

Anyone have a clue why this might happen or what I might change to solve the problem?

The package is scheduled under SS Agent so I'm currently thinking of taking these steps out of SSIS and putting them into the job. Not ideal but at least I can have some confidence that it will work.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Cheers,

Andrew

No Error Thrown By SSIS On Missing Configuration Files

May 17, 2007

Hello All,

I have a package in which I have enabled "Package Configuration".

When I run the package i am sure that it reads the configuration file and executes the package correctly.

However if I remove the configuration file, the package still executes correctly with the settings which were used at the time of development.

I have event handlers for OnError and OnWarning and both these are NOT invoked.

IMO, this is incorrect behavior because if a package has been configured for "package configuration, then we should atleast have a warning generated that SSIS did not find the configuration and it would execute the package with hard coded values (from the time of development).

Is there any work around for this? how can I make SSIS warn me if the config file is missing for a package which was configured for package configuration?

AcquireConnection Error Importing DBaseIV Files Using SQL Agent

Jul 14, 2006

I've got an SSIS package that I've been testing all week and it runs fine in Visual Studio. The package uses an OLE DB connection manager to access the dBase files using the Jet Provider. The dBase files are stored on a remote file share. There are a series of identical files held in different dated folders. I use a ForEach loop to move through the folder list and import the data as I go. When I deploy it to the server and try to run it, I get the following:

The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Aloha" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

Aloha is the ConncetionManager to the dBase files. I've searched everywhere I can for ideas on how to solve this. I've made the SQL Agent Service is running under the same account I used to author the package. I've made sure that the package is using Server Storage. Everything looks like it should be working.

Can anyone give me any other items I can look into?

Thanks!

Barry Austin

Error 'Type 'SqlConnection' Is Not Defined' In VS2005/aspx.vb Files

Apr 17, 2008

 I defined the following connection string (strConn) and coded "Dim oConn As New SqlConnection(strConn)".In this VS 2005/ASP.net 2.0 program, 'SqlConnection' was underlined and showed 'Type SqlConnection is not defined' error.
 What wrong with my VS 2005/ASPnet 2.0 coding, or SQL Server 2000 database configuration?

Error - Distribution Agent Failed To Create Temporary Files

Sep 17, 2014

I've been using replication for a long while now but have never come across this error. It's a basic transactional replication from ServerA to ServerB, where ServerA is also the distributor. Everything had been running fine on it until yesterday, when this error started popping up and no further transactions could be delivered.

After some quick googling I was able to determine that the distribution agent account needed write access to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server100Com. According to the MSFT article it's because the distribution agent is running under a non-default profile. I didn't change this. However, what I did change around the time that these errors started occurring was the server's Replication Max Test Size setting. It would be far too coincidental for this to not be the cause, but what I don't understand is *why* that would have changed it.

how do I change this? It is definitely not preferable to create temp files in this directory in our environment.
