View 3 RepliesHi
I have installed SQL Server 2005 onto a server and then on my client machine I have installed SQL Server 2005 and the Server Management Studio.
When installing it on the server I chose all the defaults so have not setup an sql username or password to connect as I thought I could use Windows.
I go to the Server Management and registered servers, create a new one and enter the ip address of the server and choose Windows Authentication. The following error keeps appearing though and I am not sure what settings/where to check:
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
I have checked and think port 1443 is open on the server, tcpip is enabled but when I choose Windows authentication I cannot enter a username or password as it is greyed out. It has completed the username but no password and these are not the correct ones to connect to the server - I wish to wish the same one I use for RDC.
Or should I try SQL Authentication and if so how would I set this up? Cannot see on the server in SQL Configuration where I could set this?
Hope someone who knows a lot more than me on this can help!
Thanks for your time - this has been driving me mad for days now and everything I print off the internet is not help so any feed back or more useful links to loo up would be great.
I created a custom DTS object that does its work by calling awebservice. When you create the object in DTS, it lets you set theuser/pw you want to use to authenticate to the webservice. The problemI am having is that once I authenticate to the webservice within DTS,it always uses the same authentication when contacting the service.So, for example, I drop a new instance of my object into a package. Itconnects to the webservice as me. I set up the parameters of the task,including telling it to connect as User="test". If I run it, my codesets the credentials correctly on the webservice, but the webservicestill gets called as me.If I exit out of SQL Server and go back in, and run it, it correctlyconnects as User="test". But then if I try to edit the task, and givemy own user and password, it still always tries to connect as "test".It seems whoever I initially connect to the webservice as, that is theinformation that DTS will use for the entire session.Is there any way to do what I want to do?thanks
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the following error using either NT or SQL Login ('sa') that are sysadmin in my SQL 2005 instance:
Your Account information could not be verified for one or more instances. Ensure that you can connect to all the selected instances using the account information provided. To process further deselect the instances to which connectivity cannot be established.
However, I would login to SQL 2005 named instance, either NT or SQL login 'sa' without any problems to do anything I want because both are sysadmin.
<PS> Note that my default SQL instance in my local server is SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 named instance.

Hi guys, I have just set up a database in SQL 2005 Express Edition. However, I have a problem accessing it with the application program created in VB 2005 EE. Before using SQL 2005, the application worked perfectly in SQL 2000.
Here is my connection string used in SQL 2000:
Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=(local); Database='Inventory List'; Integrated Security=yes")
Is this valid in SQL 2005 Express Edition? Or should I change the connection string instead? Thank you very much.

I'm new to using VS2005 and this is my first project connecting to our MS SQL 2000. App worked fine on my dev PC, connection to the same MS SQL Server. Published the web site to the web server (same server running MS SQL Server) and getting the below error. Is this a permission setup problem on SQL Server or does it really think it's connecting with a MS SQL 2005 database?

I have been reading every resource available out there about getting this connection to work. Can someone help me diagnose what the problem is? As the client, what ports do I need to have open? I'm using ReliableSite.net web hosting and trying to connect to their sql server.
I've also asked for help on their forum and opened a ticket to see if perhaps its listening on a different port, but they say its my issue.
For reference:
http://forum.reliablesite.net/index.php?topic=232.0
Is there a way to connect to database using Windows authentication as a different user than what you've logged in with to your desktop?
For example:
I log on to my desktop as mydomainme. I'm developing queries using Management Studio against a database (on another server) where mydomainme doesn't have access, but the admins have granted access to mydomainJobs1. I have the password for mydomainJobs1, and I'm hoping I can connect to the database using that account without having to log-off my local desktop as mydomainme and then re-login using mydomainJobs1.
The analogy in the file/share-permissions world would be using "net use" from a command prompt:
net use \SomeServer /User:mydomainJobs1 jobs1password
Anything similar for SSMS?
Hi,
Here is the syntax of the connection string within the web.config file:<connectionStrings><clear />
<add name="MyConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=000.000.000;Initial Catalog=Database Name;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=XXXXXX;Password=XXXXXX;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
The test page has a GridView in it which uses the connectionstring fron the web.config file.

Is it possible to access a webservice from within SQL 2005?What I am looking to do is place a trigger on a specific table, and detect if a specific column is being updated. If it is, I want to launch a robust process that does x, y and z. Something like this:1) record is updated indicating that an account is closed.2) SQL launched a webservice/ aspx page that builds an HTML email template and then mail it.thanks!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to build WebService to use result as DataSource for RS 2005 (XML DataSource).
But I have a strange problem.
I have WebMethod with parameters.
When I'm testing my WS in browser then everything works just fine.
But... When I'm trying to call this web-service from VS2005 environment then something strange happens.
Looks like VS passing parameters incorrectly to my WS (not passing at all!)
I've created very simplyfied version just to check parameters:
using System.Xml;
using System.Xml.Serialization;
using System.Messaging;
using System.Text;
using System;
using System.Web.Services;
[WebService(Namespace = "http://company.org/")]
[WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]
public class GetRemoteData : System.Web.Services.WebService
{
[WebMethod]
public XmlElement GetData(string CompanyName, string FunctionName, string ParameterList)
{
XmlDocument xmlDocument = new XmlDocument();
XmlElement xmlElement1;
xmlElement1 = xmlDocument.CreateElement("parameters", "values", "urn:errors");
xmlElement1.InnerText = String.Format("{0}, {1}, {2}", CompanyName, FunctionName, ParameterList);
return xmlElement1;
}
}
In the browser WS returns all passed parameters back correctly. VS - not.
What's wrong with my code? Why MSDN example works fine?
Do I need to specify some undocumented (soap specific) attributes?
Where I can find full tutorials how to create RS-compatible web-service?
(Sorry for cross-posting but I have no single reply...)

Hi-I have a program that I am developing on a laptop, then deploying it on a server.I have the prgram running passing a username and PW in the connection object, but like the idea of using windows authentication MUCH better.I just joined the domain, so I am domain/me for example.If I log into the server, and look at securities, logins and added domain/me to the logins.I then try and set up a sql connection via both visual studio, and sql server magt studio, and get the dreaded "Cannot generate SSPI context" error. Anyone else have this problem? SHOULD V.S. be using domain/me to connect? TIA dan

-> Communicate with WebService from MS SQL 2005 CLR Procedure, Quick Steps
1- Create SQL project in V.S 2005.
2- Add new Trigger Class, right click on project select Add -> New Item.
3- Add Web Service reference.
4- Use impersonation technique to communicate with Service.
Example:
using (WindowsIdentity id = SqlContext.WindowsIdentity)
{
WindowsImpersonationContext context = id.Impersonate();
/////////////////////////////
proxy = new WebServiceProxy();
proxy.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;
proxy.HelloWorld();
/////////////////////////////
context.Undo();
}
5- Set SQL Project Permission Level to External, change from the project properties Database Tab
"Permission Level Select the permission level from the drop-down list to specify a set of code
access permissions granted to the assembly when accessed by Microsoft SQL Server. The value can be
Safe, External, or Unsafe; these values correspond to the SQL Server permission sets SAFE,
EXTERNAL_ACCESS, and UNSAFE, respectively. Safe is the default.
This setting corresponds to the PERMISSION_SET argument for the SQL Server CREATE ASSEMBLY command.
" MSDN
6- "The TRUSTWORTHY database property is used to indicate whether the instance of SQL Server trusts
the database and the contents within it. By default, this setting is OFF, but can be set to ON by
using the ALTER DATABASE statement.
Note:
To set this option, you must be a member of the sysadmin fixed server role." MSDN
ALTER DATABASE [Database Name] SET TRUSTWORTHY ON
.
7- Build and Deploy assembly.
8- The web service reference generates XmlSerializers assembly, there are many ways to resolve
this issue, a quick way would be to add the XmlSerializers assembly to the database where the
main CLR assembly is deployed.
From "SQL Server Management Studio" select the target database, goto "Programmability" then ->
"Assemblies", there right click "New Assembly" and specify reference.
Hope this is helpful to others.

Hi!
I am developing an integration solution for MS CRM.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion you can give me.

Hi Guys:
Our company wanted to try out SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition (64 Bit). So, we were on free trial of the Enterprise Edition for past 5 months. After which we decided to go for SQL SERVER 2005 Standard Edition (64 Bit). And, Last week, we installed the SQL Server Standard Edition (64 Bit) on our server. After installation, everything was restored as before.
The version we are on right now is:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (X64) Mar 23 2007 18:41:50 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
Strangely, a job which ran fine till then is failing with the following error: And, to be more specific, when this job is run manually in the form of a stored procedure using the query optimizer it runs fine. But, when its executed as a scheduled job on SQL Agent, it fails. The History logs record the following error.
Error :
The OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LV-SQL2" reported an error. Authentication failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7399) Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LV-SQL2". [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7303) OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LV-SQL2" returned message "Invalid authorization specification". [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 7412).
I tried everything possible, even recreated the job, but, no avail.
I also considered the possibility if SQL Agent login account did not have enough permissions. So, I changed the SQL Agent login to windows authentication, but the job still fails. So, its the problem has nothing to do with login accounts either.
For the record, I have cross checked all these too.
1. Enabled the remote connections in Surface Area Config
2. Added local server login to remote server login mappings.
3. Checked 'Rpc' and 'Rpc Out' under server options. Also, the Connection Timeout and Query Timeout have been set to zero (0).
Any suggestions pointing towards problem solution appreciated.
Thank you.
I have managed to get the Forms Authentication sample to work bu there is a hitch. I am running Report Server and Report Manager on the same(test) PC. I can logon to the Report Server without a problem but when I try logon from the UILogon.aspx page for Report Manager I receive the following error:
An error occurred while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
An error occurred while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)An error occured while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable.(Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA).
I can register users which suggests that the page can connect to the database.
Any help???
I am extracting RS reports through a WebService:
report = execService.Render("EXCEL", null, out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamIds);
Some works fine but some are generating the following SoapException:
Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. ---> Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. ---> Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter.
I set required parameters to their default values. In this specific report I have two required parameters:
1: ReportParameterTime, String
2: ReportParameter1, String
I set them to their default values (ReportParameterTime to "[Czas].[Kalendarzowy].[Rok].&[2007]" - means
Time Calendar Year 2007) but I am getting the exception above. I set parameters using this code:
execService.SetExecutionParameters(parameterValues.ToArray(), CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name);
Where parameterValues is a List<ReportExecution2005.ParameterValue>.
When I am using Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer the report is generated without
any problems. I can see one parameter to choose: "Kalendarzowy" (means adj. Calendar) and can
select years, the default value is "2007".
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this error ? Does anybody know ?
Regards,
Daniel
My site works fine in VWD2008 express, but I get this error when I try to use it on my live website.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.
According to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914277 I am supposed to:
1.
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
Ok, there is no such program in this folder. The only thing in there is "SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting"...
The other thing I am greatly concerned with is this: All is want is for my webpages to be able to access my database for user authentication. I DO NOT want to grant the internet rights to remote connect to my database.
