Error Help : Operation Is Not Valid Due To The Current State Of The Object

Good morning,
I have created a very simple report that works correctly when in Report Designer Preview mode. When I deploy to the report server it reports that deployment was successful. When I log into Report Manager the report is visible, but when I click on it I end up at an error page.
The error that I get is:
Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
Appreciate any help on this.

Hello,
We are getting this error when a user clients any report. they can see the directories OK, but when we upload a new report the error still happens.
Error is "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object."

I want to create subscription for a report.
While creating it gives error "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object".
I am able to create subscription for other reports deployed. But it gives error for subscription of a particular report.
Tried deploying the report with other name then too it does not allow me to create subscription.

I have a On_hand_Quantity report which has a parameter drop down to select about 200 stores.
When i run this report in BI studio , selecting all the 200 stores for the parameter it works fine.
But when i upload the same report to report manager and try selecting all the store_numbers it errors out saying 'operation cannot run due to current state of the object ' This report was running fine since the past 2 years, on 30th dec we did some .NET updates (KB2656356 and KB2656351) after which this report stopped working.
I tried troubleshooting all ways but it errors out only in report manager.

I am new to SQL server and I have been trying hard to make a client computer to remote connect to a SQL express database on host computer
I have a VB6 application that can connect to SQL server database LOCALLY without problem:

I have followed instruction on enabling remote connection function from this blog:

I then try to run the same app from the client computer, it gives me:

After looking up the web for solution, I found that I can test the connection from the HOST computer in this way:

Now I run the same command on the CLIENT computer

Valid login but server access failure

I have previously had SQL Server 2000 installed. I uninstalled SQL 2000 before I install SQL express but somehow the SQL Server Service Manager is still running at startup, and C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80 and its files are still exist after uninstallation..... Could this be a problem?
The Knowledge base suggestion on "enabling remote connection" is very simple and I do not understand why it is so difficult to me just to make a remote connection test work..... please, I need your help.

Recently, one of my clients began receiving this error. My team gave them sysadmin permissions, but this is terrible practice. I have read into disablying simple file sharing, but I don't even think I have the option to do it. I look in mycomputer > tools > view and don't see any option for this. Besides, the problem just started occuring recently, within the last week. The server is a cluster with veritas clustering and the edition is sql server 2000. Has anybody ever had a problem like this and have a good fix?

Using the Microsoft Patterns and Practices "Object Builder" (Dependency Injection/Builder library), I wrote an SQL CLR Stored Procedure (using VS 2005 Professional).
All compiles and deploys ok (to SQL Server 2005 Express).
However, at run-time, I get the following error upon a "BuilderContext" object's instantiation: {"Attempted to perform an operation that was forbidden by the CLR host."}
Thoughts on how to get ObjectBuilder working in the SQLCLR?

Hi all, i searched everywhere but couldn't find any info on the following error that i'm currently receiving:
"The conversation endpoint is not in a valid state for SEND. The current endpoint state is 'DI'."
I understand that this is due to some problem in my send/receive protocol but how do i fix this problem so that i can continue with my testing? Right now i'm forced to drop my entire test database and reinstall everytime this message shows up because i can't send/receive any messages at that point. Is there anyway to get rid of it?

Let's have a table to show what I mean ...
As you can see I have added only one contract (for the sake of simplicity). At any given date I want to calculate the running total for a contract (all contracts), but the aggregation must take the contract state into consideration.
You can see my expected result for queries 1 - 3. That means, with the actual state ('B') I want to aggregate all values regardless of their state in the past.
For query 2 the state is 'A' ... I hope you can follow.
Now my aim is to aggregate all contract states for any given date with the right value. The past states of each contract are not relevant. And of course future ones (with respect to the query date) shall also be irrelevant.
Maybe the solution is a combination of 'LastNonEmpty' and SUM/PERIODSTODATE ...

never seen this before, but I keep getting an error > "Operationg is not allowed while the object is closed" I thought maybe I was getting this due to an error in my stored procedure, however the procedure runs fine. Could this be an error in my procedure that it's just not catching? Or is it more likely to be in my VB code? Anyone know in general why this happens? Thanks.

Wait, please don't ignore this one ... I've already tried all the obvious stuff.
I am currently on a contract assignment, and so cannot post the exact code (at least not at this time), but I should be able to layout the problem enough anyway.
I have a section of code that hits a remote database (same network, same subnet, but different city than the primary SQL database) to retrieve information logged by a digital phone system for display on an intranet screen.
The code is your typical recordset iteration, and looks basically like this.
Note: the connection is created and opened inside the PhoneCenter class. SQL statement used has been verified correct in SQL Server Management Studio.

This code runs flawlessly, every time, on the development platform but fails at "rs.MoveNext" when pushed out to the production server. What mystifies me is that the "Operation is not allowed when the object is closed" should not occur on code inside an rs.eof test, since the recordset must be open and have data in order to enter such a block.
This is, however, exactly what is happening. In 7 years working with SQL Server and ADO, I've never seen anything quite like this. Does anyone have any insight into what might be going on here?
P.S. I am in the process of attempting to gather more detailed information about this error, which I will post as it arrives if needed. At the moment, the above message is all I have to go on.

Hello, I have a asp.net application that calls a DTS package. This application is running fine on my machine (where SQL Server and Web Server are running). When I moved the application to a Web Server (where SQL Server is not installed), I am getting the following error due to the DTS package. COM object with CLSID {10020200-EB1C-11CF-AE6E-00AA004A34D5} is either not valid or not registered.I tried every thing I could find on the web but with no luck. Can someone please help me? Aaaaaarrgghh ! (that's better)I am trying to convert a field within my Oracle 9i Database that is oftype BLOB (but this BLOB may contain a combination of clobs/varchars orimages such as gif images, jpg images) to Microsoft SQL Server 2000using Microsoft DTS.On trying to perform this simple conversion I recieved the error "Needto run the object to perform the operation - Exception AccessViolation" from Microsoft DTS and my table that contains this BLOBfield is not converted across.After further investigation I implemented the fixes suggested by theMicrosoft Knowledge Base and "sqldts.com" but still no joy the errorkept occuring.I discovered my modifying the step in the DTS package that handled thistable conversion that contained the BLOB column that when I changed thedata type on my SQL Server target table to VARBINARY and modified thequery so that only the BLOBs that contained clobs/varchars were broughtacross that the error went away.I then proceeded to create another DTS package step that had a querythat only brought across the BLOB column that contained images such asgif images/jpeg images etc. and the error went away and the target typefor the SQL Server target table was set to IMAGE.As the data for this BLOB contains a combination of VARCHARS/CLOBS(concatanted) and also GIF IMAGES/JPEGS in the same source column withOracle 9i I require the same in my target table within SQL server asone column (and I should be able to do that with type IMAGE especiallyas it can store larger objects than VARBINARY but any source BLOBS thatcontain VARCHAR/CLOBs don't seem to want to be loaded as IMAGE theywill only load in to VARBINARY).However judging by my experiences above this doesn't seem to bepossible ?Can anyone help me out with this ?I am on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 with latest MDAC(2.8.1).Cheers,Gary

We're building a simple logging facility and would like to systematically determine the name of the current T-SQL object(i.e., the procedure name or function name) to provide this as a logging parameter. For example, in procedure FooBar, I'd like to be able to call a system function that will return 'FooBar', the name of the current object. Does such a feature exist?

I am accessing SQL2005 with C# code using OleDbConnection.
A try and catch block catches the following error once a while between the Open() and Close() of the connection:
ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.
I do not even have any idea where to start to debug this. The ExecuteNonQuery() runs a delete SQL query. It works 99.9% of the time. I do not see anything wrong when this error happens.
Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

Hello All
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question to, so if it's not, please accept my apologies.
I'm working in SQL Server 2005 with a database that was migrated to 2005 from SQL Server 2000. I have to alter a trigger on a table for some functionality changes, and when I modify the trigger and then access it through the application the database is working with, I receive this error:
There was a error in the [stored procedure name] procedure. Error Number: -2147217900 Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The definition of object '[trigger name]' has changed since it was compiled.
[stored procedure name] and [trigger name] are where the actual names appear in the message.
I've tried running sp_recompile on the trigger, stored procedure, and table that are associated with this, and nothing works. I have dropped the trigger, which allows the save process to complete (but doesn't perform the required functionality, of course), and then re-created the trigger, but the error message still comes up. The compatibility level for the database is SQL Server 2000 (80) (as it was migrated from SQL Server 2000 as I mentioned above).
Has anyone seen this, and if so, how can I fix it?

Help! I have posted this before and I had hoped that the VS2005 SP1 would help my problem. It didn't. My code is shown below. I have dropped a sqlconnection, sqldataadapter and a strongly-typed dataset from the toolbox onto the component designer for my page and written my code. It compiles without any errors but at runtine I receive the system error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." The error occurs at the first line where the sqldataadapter is mentioned. I have shufflled the code and the error still occurs at first mention of the dataadapter. I have set parameters to a simple string such as "myemail." It hasn't helped. I have used the "Dim" statement as "Dim DaAuthorLogin as System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataadapter and Dim DaAuthorLogin as New ......) at the start of the private sub generated by the event requiring the data. Nothing helps. Here is my simple code to select data from a sqlserver 2000 database. Why do I continue to get this error?

Hi,
I am trying to develop a custom algorithm. I have implemented and tested training methods, however I fail at prediction phase. When I try to run a prediction query against a model created with my algorithm I get:

Obtained object of type: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdDataReader
COM error: COM error: DMPluginWrapper; Object reference not set to an instance of an object..
Execution complete
I know this is not very descriptive, but I have seen that algorith doesn't even executes my Predict(..) function (I can test this by logging to a text file)
So the problem is this, when I run prediction query DMPluginWrapper gives exception -I think- even before calling my custom method.
As I said it is not a very descriptive message but I hope I have hit a general issue.

Just installed VS 2005 & SQLServer 2005 clients on my workstation. When trying to create a new Integration Services Project and start work in the designer receive the MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' dialog box with message "Creating project 'Integration Services project1'...project creation failed."
Previously I had SQLServer 2000 client with the little VS tool that came with it installed. Uninstalled these prior to installing the 2005 tools (VS and SQLServer).
I'm not finding any information on corrective action for this error.
Any one have this problem and found the solution?

Hello -
For the life of me I cannot figure out why i'm getting the "Object Refence Not Set To an Instance of An Object" error after I try and create a Report Services project in Business Intelligence Studio. I've followed all of the steps in similar posts such as checking the ReportServer/web.config file but everything checks out.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can get rid of this annoying error and start creating some reports?

There are certain errors that does not come during compilation and it shows during execution because of late-binding concept implemented in SQL Server from 7.0 version.
The problem is when Tables are not there, SPs are created. And there is no option where we can set like 'Validate object resolution during compilation"
There are lot of SPs that are in invalid status because the tables are really not there and SP needs to be modified to reflect the correct table name. In Oracle, if I have to find the list of objects that are in invalid state (because of object resolution problems), it was possible. How do I do it in SQL?
I need a listing of all objects in my database that is in invalid state. Searched in NET but there seems to be no supporting tool also that lists invalid objects.
Pl let me know whether there exists a way by which I can get to know the invalid object lists in my SQL 2005 database
