I am writing a program in Visual basic 5.0 which would read the data from btrieve database and would transfer the btrieve data
to Sql server database.My code part is working properly but as soon as (sql Server) it inserts the 325th record i get the following error
"Can't allocate space for object syslog in database tempdb because the 'logsegment' segment is full. If you ran
out of space in Syslogs, dump the transaction log. Otherwise, use ALTER DATABASE or sp_extendsegment to increase the size of the segment."
This error comes only when i edit my database in SQL Server and in my code i get ODBC Call failed(this error is just because it could not insert any
further records to the database.)
Please suggest me with the syntax or code to be used in Sql server or a query to be passed
What i did
i truncated the transaction log but every now and then i have to manually truncate transactions.
But did'nt work

I am having difficulty restoring a database (DB_1) with 2 datafiles and one log file, DB Structure is as following:
Filegroup PRIMARY with file name 'fnm_data' with physical file name and location D:dbfile_1.mdf, Filegroup 'FG1' with file name 'fgnm1_data1' with physical file name and location F:dbfile_FG1.mdf, One log file with file name 'fnm_log' with physical file name and location (E:loglog_db.ldf)
{Note} Logfile resides on E drive whereas Datafiles reside on several other drives.
I need to restore the DB on another machine. And I need to move the log file to a drive other than E.In this case it is K drive. Hence I have used the following code,
restore log DB_1 from disk='M:kupccciclog.txt'

When I try to restore from backup files, I keep error message saying "Physical file name E:loglog_db.ldf may be incorrect." 'fnm_log' cannot be restored. Use Move command to identify a valid location for the file.
Even though I am using Move command to move the log file.
Then I found that if I create a drive with E: and a folder named 'log' then restore program runs alright. That is, when E:log exists then code does run smoothly. All the restore code is looking for the presence of path of the log file from where it is been backed up. In this case it is E:log folder. Once the database is restored I could kill that directory and nothing happens. Also log file has been restored on K:DB only.
Why the restore code is looking for the initial drive letter and path even though I have used Move command? Is there an issue in my code?
I have Job ment for Data Transfor one Server to other.It will take 4 hour for successfull run. But It got failed 1:30m run,and thow an error Error: 1105 (451),Desc: Primary file group full.
Instead of adding Datafile to Primary group our DBA run the same Job after 20 min,It ran successfully.(4h)
I don't under stand who is the occupaied Primary group space earlier and it will free up after some time.

Can't allocate space for object '-486' in database 'tempdb' because the 'system' segment is full.
This seems to suggest that tempdb is not large enough. However I can't see how to expand the database larger than the current 6mb. I can only expand the log, and have done so to a 1000mb. Still keep getting the same error.

Yesterday after I got the same message I went to edit the database and expanded the database size and log to DB 23 and log 20. Backup of the log and maintenance was done last night. However, the error message is still there. Also I went to edit the database device and for the DB device I see -795 and I am not able to change the size at all. The same with the log it shows -798 and no option to change the size. Please advice. Shashu
Over the weekend my C drive got full due to my transaction log files ballooning up.
At that point none of my users were able to log into their the VB application and enter data.
I freed up some disk space, and then the users were able to log in fine, except for a certain column variable(aggregate) values were negative.
I deattached the DBs and Ldf files and made copies of them on to a test envirnoment. Within the test environment, I ran SQL Query Analyzer with SQL statments that did give me the aggregate values as negative. This matched my VB application values aswell.
I ran

DBCC DBREINDEX -- no errors
Our programming vendor tells us the DBs are corrupt.

I have a standard reorganise/reindex job running against a 32GB database on SQl Srever 2000. When trying to run the job it fails and returns Error 1105 <'PRIMARY' filegroup is full>. What's confusing me is that I have 53GB free on the drive on which my Primary file group sits.
Has anyone else come accross this problem when trying to set up a regular reindex job?
(more detail) the maintenance plan only includes the reorganisation/reindex job, no other jobs - including backing up the DB - are included. The DB in question is the only DB on the server: it's a test server.
I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:

I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:

The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:

While we can typically just stop SQL Server Service and restart the services...I have found it is best to restart the machine during non-production times to take care of any 'residual' effects of this error.
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 box with Windows 2003 Standard SP1 is well maintained by our I.T. team and it typically will run 4 or 5 months without a reboot.
Hi, I have developed a website in asp.net 2. I have tester it and it is working fine on my computer but when I have uploaded it to my server I'm getting an error message when the user signup. The error occurs when I'm setting the user role to 'members'.

The strage thig is that it is working on my computer but not on the server. My home computer and the server are running the same software versions and the website database is the same as well.

Trying to connect to remote server croaktoad.simpli.biz I have SQL 2005 Developer on XP SP2 , I have disabled my windows firewall. I can ping to my server (croaktoad.simpli.biz) and i get no error message. My remote connection using both TCP/IP and named pipes are checkeed. My SQL Server Browser is running as well.
However when I try to connect using Managment Studio or running SQLCMD /Scroaktoad. simpli.biz /E I get the following error message

This is the error I get:
ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified.
I'm catching a primary constraint error in SQL and don't want to return the SQL error message back to the client. Is there any way to stop this. Thankyou
