Error Message Could Not Find Server 'FLDB1' In Sysservers....
Jun 19, 2007
I'm getting the following message from a VB6 program running ADO...
It will process a job then I get the message.... [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Could not find server 'FLDB1' in syssservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers...
This started to happen after I moved the db from SS2000 to SS2005...
Our db server and sql server instance on that server are both named 'FLDB1'... Do I need to run the above execute sp_addlinkedserver command on the new 2005 server?
a different scenario leads to the same problem, the error message: Could not find "Standby" in sysservers. Run "sp_addlinkedserver" to add the server to sysservers"
I browsed the thread for the same error message and the solution doesn't applies to me. Here is my system settings. we have a kind of backup system. a primary server is set up to copy the database files to a standby server. when the primary is off, the standby server will take over primary's name and ip. and our application runs on the standby as if in the primary. in both machine the odbc connection are set to point the primary server.
this setup works well in SQL server 2000 for both primary and standby servers, but it gives the error message on SQL 2005 in the standby server. I noticed that this is because the application opens an empty table. after inserting a record by hand, the error has gone away.
I know it doesn't make too much sense, but it 's what I observed. Could anyone give me some input how could this happens and what' s the solution?
We just upgraded to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000. The DB was backed up using Enterprise Manager and restored with SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP. Everything went as expected (no errors, warnings, or any other indicator of problems).
The DB resides in a DB Server (Server1) and the application we are running is a Client/Server system where the AppServer resides on Server2.
During the application's operation all read, create, and delete transactions work fine but no update works. When viewing details in Trace Log I see this message after attempting any update:
Could not find server 'Server1' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers. (7202)
I have SQL SERVER 2005 with SP2 on windows XP professional.
When I execute DROP PROCEDURE manually,it works. However when I execute inside a loop made using static cursors, it generates following error "Could not find server 'drop procedure dbo' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers."
OR it gives this error "Could not find stored procedure"
Hi All,I am having an error message when running the program below, the message says " Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.U_Login ". I have tried a inline Sql statement to match if user exists and then redirects to another page but when using a Stored Procedure what I get is the above mentioned error. I am logged onto my PC as Administrator but I don't know why this error appaears. Can anyone help me with this ? I am using SQL Server Express with Visual Studio. here the application I am trying to run:1 using System; 2 using System.Data.SqlClient; 3 using System.Data; 4 using System.Configuration; 5 using System.Web; 6 using System.Web.Security; 7 using System.Web.UI; 8 using System.Web.UI.WebControls; 9 using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; 10 using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls; 11 12 13 public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page 14 { 15 protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) 16 { 17 18 } 19 protected void btnSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) 20 { 21 22 //SqlDataSource LoginDataSource = new SqlDataSource(); 23 //LoginDataSource.ConnectionString = 24 // ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["LoginConnectionString"].ConnectionString; 25 ////ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["LoginConnectionString"].ToString(); 26 ////// if (LoginDataSource != null) 27 //// // Response.Redirect("DebugPage.aspx"); 28 29 //Sql connection = LoginDataSource.ConnectionString; 30 31 string UserName = txtUserName.Text; 32 string Password = txtPassword.Text; 33 34 // string query = "SELECT * FROM Users WHERE userName = @UserName " + "AND Password = @Password"; 35 //SqlCommand Command = new SqlCommand(query, new SqlConnection(GetConnectionString())); 36 37 SqlCommand Command = new SqlCommand("dbo.U_Login", new SqlConnection(GetConnectionString())); 38 39 40 //SqlConnection SqlConnection1 = new SqlConnection(GetConnectionString()); //added 41 //SqlCommand Command = new SqlCommand(); //added 42 //Command.Connection = SqlConnection1; //added 43 // Command.Connection = new SqlConnection(GetConnectionString()); 44 //SqlConnection_1.Open();//added 45 46 Command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; //added 47 //Command.CommandText = "dbo.U_Login"; //added 48 49 50 51 52 Command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@UserName", UserName); 53 54 Command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Password", Password); 55 56 Command.Connection.Open(); 57 58 SqlDataReader reader; 59 60 61 //reader = Command.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection);11 62 63 reader = Command.ExecuteReader(); 64 65 66 if (reader.Read()) 67 68 Response.Redirect("DebugPage.aspx"); 69 else 70 Response.Write("user doesn't exist"); 71 72 73 //SqlConnection_1.Close();//added 74 75 76 } 77 private static string GetConnectionString() 78 { 79 80 return ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["LoginConnectionString"].ConnectionString; 81 82 } 83 84 85 } 86 87 88 89
I am getting the error "Could not find server 'bmf' in sysservers. Executive sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers" when running the following script. if I remove the last bit of the FROM statement (i.e. bmf.dbo.activities.activity_desc actdesc2) then the script runs fine. I'm confused as the same server and DB are being referenced elsewhere in the FROM part of the script.
I have a program in VB.NET 2003 where I have query "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM master..sysservers WHERE srvname = '" & strServerName & "'". This program copies data from .MDF file to another .MDF file. This query is written since I have created linked server.
Issue 1: But now I to copy data from .SDF (SQL Server Mobile Edition) to desktop .MDF file. For this I cannot fire the above query on .SDF file. What is the other alternative?
Issue 2: In the existing prgram that copies data from .MDF to .MDF, I have created linked server. Can I do the same with mobile edition?
My apologies...I wasn't for sure where to post an error like this...
Over the last 2 months I have gotten this SQL Server error (twice). All existing processes will continue to work, however no new processes can be created and users cannot connect to the server. This is the exact text of the message in the SQL Server error log.
Operating system error 10038: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket...

While we can typically just stop SQL Server Service and restart the services...I have found it is best to restart the machine during non-production times to take care of any 'residual' effects of this error.
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 box with Windows 2003 Standard SP1 is well maintained by our I.T. team and it typically will run 4 or 5 months without a reboot.
Hallo, I have some problems to handle the poison messages.
Messages are exchanged between 2 databases on the same SQL Server instance. I created a Trigger on the insert , that call the sp that begin the conversation(10 minutes Timeout) and send the message to the target queue.
On the target queue I activated a SP and the main code is:
BEGIN TRANSACTION
WAIT FOR (Receive (1) ..) timeout 5000
IF (@ErrorSave <> 0)
BEGIN
INSERT INTO [TestSender].[dbo].[tblErrorXMLMessages] VALUES ();
END
ELSE
if (@messagetypeName = N'Message')
BEGIN
exec [dbo].[sp_ProcessMessage] @message_body
END
ELSE IF (@messagetypeName = N'EndOfStream')
BEGIN
END CONVERSATION @dialog
END
COMMIT TRANSACTION
My communication has a strange behaviour:
if I type
Begin
insert into TriggerTable values(XMLMessage)
insert into TriggerTable values(XMLMessage)
....
insert into TriggerTable values(XMLMessage)
end
Everything work fine but If I write an insert of 1000 message coming from an another table and I use the
cursor login after I while the transmission stop because the Target queue become inactive. I can see my messages stuck in the Initiator transmission_queue so I think that there is some Poison message that cause 5 rollback and disable the receiver queue.
First I would like to isolate the wrong message and carry on with the insert, my application doesn't have to stop the conversation or return any error, but If I use the Sql server Debugger I'm not able to debug the Target queue's stored procedure.
I suppose that some error happens on the Target queue's stored procedure but how can I first at all find it out?
Maybe it has something to do with the transition wrapped around the RECEIVE command?
I need to find the exact time a message was received in the service broker, the time it finished sending and the time it was received at the destination (which is another service broker queue on a different server). I am trying to figure out what the delay is, with increasing message size.
I began recieving the following error message. How can I resolve this?
SQL Server SQL Server could not find the specified named instance (PINNACLESYS) - please specify the name of an existing instance on the invocation of sqlserver.exe.
I have a website that works OK on my local machine when I test it within Microsoft Visual Studio's debugging mode. However now that I have copied it over to a remote server it is failing with an error message of:An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)As far as I'm aware I have never used SQL Server with my webpage. All connections to databases are to Oracle with connection strings and providers set up in the webconfig file. The website does however use a login control to recognise authorised users. Does this mean I've unknowingly been using SQL Server (to support the login control) and I therefore need to install this on the remote machine? Or is it something simpler? Wondered if anybody had seen this error message before?
I'm working with a small ISP/Hosting company and we set up a development server with NT, Site Server, SQL 6.5, and Site Site Commerce Edition. It has been working fine, but the other night their network guy assigned a new IP address to the NT server.
Now SQL server can't talk to/find the NT server. Any time you try to look at anything in Enterprise Manager, it throws the error:
DBLibrary - Server is unavailable or does not exist...general network error.
We can't figure out how/where to tell SQL Server that NT has a new IP address, and get it all working again.
Hi All, I'm running peoplesoft 8.8 on MS-SQL 2000 SP4. When I try to access my peoplesoft application through web and add access some pages, I get some error like "SQL error. Stmt #: 651 Error Position: 0 Return: 8601 - [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] fetch: The fetch type refresh not allowed with forward only cursors (SQLSTATE 37000) 16911 " I need to solve this issue at the earliest. Thanks in Advance, Aniruddha.
We have use SQL Server 2005 on 64bit windows 2003 server Cluster. In the application log I noticed the following errors during . When error occurred , i was copying the 45 GB backup file from this machine to another Network machine over 1Gbps network link. The sql server database was used by many user. The SQL resorce probably failed in this failover cluster. We could immediately restart the group. So what could be the cause of the error? anyone has faced this problem ?. Here are the logs in chronology. Any recommended remedy / parameter change to prevent this further (of course besides not copying full backup file online. Normally it's done at night in lean times)
Hi there, I access to server SQL by an application on web,I configured the ODBC box for using TCP/IP and the server use also the TCP/IP. I have this message :
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes]Specified SQL server not found. /medecin/IdentificationAcces/membre_enregistrer.asp, line 108
I have a SQL server scheduled to replication. This works fine if it has to do that one the sever on the same mechine. If it has to be done to another server, the replication fails with the following error message.

The following function I am trying to design is to INSERT data into a SQL Server 2005 database. It is called from a different function, parse_file();, which is looping through a .CSV file and returning each record as an array to recordInsert();. Here is the function code and SQL syntax
I am receiving the following error when attempting to INSERT into the database.
Code:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The name "YFM700RVL" is not permitted in this context. Valid expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts) variables. Column names are not permitted.
I have tried googling the error and since it is a long error, it has been hard trying to find an answer. One solution I found (which wasn't a solution) was to add the '@' infront of the variables. It did not work.
Hi I am trying to learn VB 2005 and I am reaching a step in my studies which requires downloading Sql Server 2005. However every time I attempt to download, I receive this error message.
"SQL Server Setup cannot install files to the compressed or encrypted folder: c:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server. To continue, make sure that your installation directories are not compressed or encrypted, or specify a different directory, and then run SQL Server Setup again."
I have tried saving it to another folder, this did not help. Somewhere in my search for answers, I came across something that said I needed a strong Sa authentication or password. I did not have a place to store a password in the setup program and when I went to administration password all my fields were blank, so it should not have needed any password. I also tried the link that this error message directed me to and they said they had no further information on this error.
I have exhausted all the leads, a beginner could possibly come across, except you. Please Help!

I installed Micrsoft Server Desktop Engine from the CD I received in my ASP.net book. The installation went fine and then I went to the DOS prompt and did the "setup SAPWD..." and it ran. I restarted my computer and opened ASP Matrix and went to the Data tab and proceed to connect to the server. It gave me an error message it couldn't connect.
So I uninstalled MSDE and made sure the sql2ksp3 folder was gone. So I went ahead and installed the MSDE again from the CD again and then went to DOS to do the setup. It ran through the setup until the very end with 11 seconds remaining and received error message " Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and setup logs for more information. I have tried it several times and it always stops around 11 seconds. I have tried to install the download from microsoft.com instead the CD and that didn't work also. So at this point I am stuck. PLEASE HELP!
I also checked my Registry keys for a file called PendingFileRenameOperations and it wasn't in the registry keys.
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
Hi, Here is the syntax of the connection string within the web.config file:<connectionStrings><clear /> <add name="MyConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=000.000.000;Initial Catalog=Database Name;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=XXXXXX;Password=XXXXXX;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> The test page has a GridView in it which uses the connectionstring fron the web.config file. I'm attempting to install SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition on a 2nd workstation in our area for development and practice with having this 2nd workstation as a "local" (test) SQL Server box. The install fails with the above mentioned message. (We have a database running in production on SQL Server 2000 and we need a place to simply copy the database and run tests on it)
The target PC is running WInXP Pro-SP3 and has IIS installed, along with Visual Studio 2005 & .Net framework, etc.
I downloaded it (via MSDN license) and accepted the defaults on the install.
