Error Message: Setup Failed Because MSSQL$SQLExpress Is Disabled For The Current Hardware Profile
Oct 19, 2006
When installing SQLEXPRESS I am getting this message:
Setup failed because service MSSQL$SQLExpress is disabled for the current hardware profile. Services must be set with the current Hardware Profile logon property enabled.
Error message: Setup failed to configure the server
I'm attempting to install SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition on a 2nd workstation in our area for development and practice with having this 2nd workstation as a "local" (test) SQL Server box. The install fails with the above mentioned message. (We have a database running in production on SQL Server 2000 and we need a place to simply copy the database and run tests on it)
The target PC is running WInXP Pro-SP3 and has IIS installed, along with Visual Studio 2005 & .Net framework, etc.
I downloaded it (via MSDN license) and accepted the defaults on the install.

It's a Windows 2000 Server box with SQL 2000 on it. MSSQLSERVER &SQLSERVERAGENT services are logged in as valid domain user. I set up amail profile for that user, and can send email via Outlook 2003.However, when I go to the SQL Agent Properties in Enterprise Manager,Mail Profile is disabled.I've restarted the services & even tried rebooting the server. Thisworks on my other servers, but they're Windows 2003. Not sure ifthat's the problem though.Anybody have any clues?
Hi I am trying to learn VB 2005 and I am reaching a step in my studies which requires downloading Sql Server 2005. However every time I attempt to download, I receive this error message.
"SQL Server Setup cannot install files to the compressed or encrypted folder: c:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server. To continue, make sure that your installation directories are not compressed or encrypted, or specify a different directory, and then run SQL Server Setup again."
I have tried saving it to another folder, this did not help. Somewhere in my search for answers, I came across something that said I needed a strong Sa authentication or password. I did not have a place to store a password in the setup program and when I went to administration password all my fields were blank, so it should not have needed any password. I also tried the link that this error message directed me to and they said they had no further information on this error.
I have exhausted all the leads, a beginner could possibly come across, except you. Please Help!
I was in the process of installing Microsof Project 2003 when we suddenly decided to move up to Microsoft Project 2007. We removed SharePoint 3.0 and SQL Server 2K so all that is installed on the box is Windows Server 2003 with all Service Packs. During the install of SQL Server 2005, here is the error message we get.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot alter the login €˜sa€™, because it does not exist or you do not have permission.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information.
I have installed SQL 2005 and was trying to run one of the Samples. I installed SQL as an instance, but when I run the setup script, it fails because it can not assign permissions to the ASPNET account.
It looks like it thinks the account is ServerNameInstanceNameASPNET, but it should be ServerNameASPNET.
I've been working with godaddy.com, and when I setup there the sqlserver databases it tells me if I want to create the tables and stored procedures that conform the typical profile, roles and users features... the same as if I execute the aspnet_regsql.exeNow I'm working with anotherhoster (aruba) and I've setup the database OK, but i didn't found any way to setup the profile, roles, users, etc features.Aruba uses the mssql server web admin.How can I setup this features? Of course, aruba doesn't let me to execute the aspnet_regsql.exe...thanks

I have a old report that was pointing to a different database, and i changed the connection string for that report and changed the field names (As per my new stored Procedure). In some places I keep getting this run time error, i have tried looking for all the hidden references to this field and i cannot find any parameter that the old database had. The error messages that i get are as follows:
[rsFieldReference] The Hidden expression for the table €˜tblContactInfo€™ refers to the field €˜PL_Admin_ShowInKit€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.
[rsFieldReference] The Hidden expression for the table €˜tblContactInfo€™ refers to the field €˜PL_FA_ShowInKit€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.
[rsFieldReference] The Hidden expression for the table €˜tblWithdrawals€™ refers to the field €˜PW_Comment€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.
Can Someone please help me out as to how should i get rid of these error messages, they are kinda driving me nuts.
I'm running W2K3 SP1. The MDAC Configuration Checker reports MDAC 2.8 SP2. The only discrepancy is MSADCO.DLL, where the expected version is 2.82.1830.0 and my actual version is 2.82.2651.0 (svr03_sp1_gdr.060301-1546).
The error message I'm getting when I use the ODBC Administrator dialog to set up a new entry is: "The setup routines for the SQL Server ODBC driver could not be found. Please reinstall the driver."
This is followed by a dialog titled: "Driver's ConfigDSN, ConfigDriver, or ConfigTranslator failed." The body text of the dialog is "Component not found in the registry."
I have a bundling package that runs about 20 other packages. It has been working fine for a while but a couple of days ago it fail with the following message,
Error 0x800706BE while loading package file "D:PackagesToradSales.dtsx". The remote procedure call failed.
I´m running the SSIS packages in an 64-bit environment.
I have SSRS installed on a web server and points to another SQL Server with the ReportServer database. Every now and then I would get this error message on Report Manger:
Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response.

Does any know what causes these errors. They don't appear very often, but often enought for the users to complain.
I am trying to install the SQL7 server, at the end of the installation before rebooting the server I got the following error: "Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and cnfgsvr.out for more information". I have not seen that error before. I cannot install the SQL7 because I always get the same message. Your help would be very appreciate helping me to solve this problem.

I'm trying to change the snap-to grid functionality in a SRS 2005 Report Design (within VS 2005). I tried the same steps in the following post, without success. Based on the SRS help, it appears you change Grid Settings by accessing the File > Page Setup dialog, but the Page Setup (along with Print) is disabled.
Maybe these are instructions for Report Builder only? If so, how do you adjust the Grid Settings (to turn off the "snap" functionality) for a SRS Report project in Visual Studio?
Hi was wondering whether it is possible to log somewhere outside SB that there are messages in the transmission_queue because the Target queue was disabled.
I was testing this scenario:
try to send messages on a disabled queue and log the problem.
But the transmission_status from the trasmission_queue is always empty.
This is the code that I tried to execute between the send and the commit and after the commit:
WHILE (1=1)
BEGIN
BEGIN DIALOG CONVERSATION .....
SEND ON CONVERSATION ......
if select count(*) from sys.transmission_queue <> 0 BEGIN
set @transmission_status = (select transmission_status from sys.transmission_queue where conversation_handle=@dialog_handle);
if @transmission_status = ''
--Successful send - Exit the LOOP
BEGIN
UPDATE Mytable set isReceivedSuccessfully = 1 where ID = @IDMessageXML;
BREAK;
END
ELSE
raiserror(@transmission_status,1,1) with log;
END
ELSE
BEGIN
UPDATE [dbo].[tblDumpMsg] set isReceivedSuccessfully = 1 where ID = @IDMessageXML;
BREAK;
END
END
COMMIT TRANSACTION;
As I wrote before the @transmission_status variable is always empty and I have the same result even if I put the code after the commit transaction!
Maybe what I'm trying to reach has no sense?
With the event notification I can notify when the queue is disable because the receive rollsback 5 times but what if by mistake the target queue is disabled outside the SB environment? I can I catch it and handle it properly?
I have almost finished to design my Service Broker application and I found out something strange.
I was tring to handle the Target queue disabled scenario, because I want to save to message that was not sent so I can create an alert to the user to say that some messages as not been sent.
To disable to queue I run:
Alter queue [dbo].[Receivedqueue] with status = off
I had the Event Viewer in front of me and I have seen the suddenly it appeared a lot of this informational events:
Description: The activated proc [dbo].[OnReceived] running on queue TestReceiver.dbo.Receivedqueue output the following: 'The current transaction cannot be committed and cannot support operations that write to the log file. Roll back the transaction.'
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
What this message means?
I would like to avoid to have it because it appears a lot of time and I don't want to fill up my Event Viewer!!
I don't know of it is important but in the moment I executed the code there was not CONVERSING conversation and all the queues were empty.
Somebody has seen this error before or I have to send to the forum the [dbo].[OnReceived] code as well?
MSI (s) (D8!A0) [21:07:09:062]: Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -- Error 29506. SQL Server Setup failed to modify security permissions on file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData for user Administrator. To proceed, verify that the account and domain running SQL Server Setup exist, that the account running SQL Server Setup has administrator privileges, and that exists on the destination drive.
Tried running install with a domain account and local account with same results.
Based on the error message, I checked permission on the drive and still received the same error.
Followed resolution based on KB 916766, this did not resolve the error.
Only possible resolution I found was to disable UAP, reboot and retry the install. This will be done as a last resort, but any other suggestion will be appreciated.
No logs created, this is all I have: Â Unhandled Exception: System.Security.SecruityException: Request failed. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â at Microsoft.SqlServer.Chainer.Setup.Setup.DebugBreak() Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â at Microsoft.SqlServer.Chainer.Setup.Setup.Main()
Then the Managed SQL Server Installer box pops up with Managed SQL Server Installer has stopped working.
I can't seem to fix the following error in my stored procedure.
Error Message: Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '1007-001' to data type int.
The line of code in my stored procedure that seems to be the problem is the following:
CASE WHEN [Order Details].[Job No] IS NULL THEN [Orders].[Order No] ELSE [Order Details].[Job No] END
Order No has a data type of INT and Job No has a data type NVARCHAR(8). In the above case statement i'm not trying to convert anything but just display a column depending on the out come of the case statement. If anyone knows how to get around this error you help would be very welcome.

I installed sql 2005 a while back. Then I recently found out my file system was fat32 (I don't understand why the hardware people did this...) and I had to convert to NTFS. Naturally the sql service no longer worked so I uninstalled inorder to reinstall now I can't reinstall it I keep getting this message
native_error=5039, msg=[Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]MODIFY FILE failed. Specified size is less than current size.
We have a previous SQL 2012 cluster that emails us when a new database is added. I am unable to figure out why we get this error any time we add a new database to it, and also it prevents us from adding a new availability group to this cluster because of this error.
I also am unable to figure out what profile it is talking about as this was setup before me and I am not a DBA.
