Error R6034 In MSIEXEC.EXE While Installing Proclarity Desktop Pro 6.3 Evaluation

Sep 25, 2007

What can I do about this? There doesn't seem to be any workaround, I've upgraded everything, including the Msiexec to 3.2 (v2), but the same error always pops up.

I've done other installs of the same product without any problem whatsoever.

Can anyone help?

Errors Installing MSDE Desktop

Nov 7, 2004

HELP! this is driving me mad!!

I installed MSDE desktop with no problems... months later when creating a database, I stupidily forgot the "sa" password that I set during setup... So I decided to unistall MSDE and reinstall it, this time documenting the username and password... BUT now it is giving me errors which I am unable to solve... is there anyone out there that might be able to help me??

I go to a command-line, locate the directory where the install program lives and type in "setup SAPWD=(a password) SecurityMode=SQL" and it returns the follow error message:
"Setup Failed to configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and setup error logs"

My problem is I don't know where to locate these error logs. Please if anyone can help me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

thanks, Donald - email = pizzazzz@cox.net

Does anyone know if it's at all possible to install SQL Server Express 2005 over a Remote Desktop on a Windows XP machine.

I know there are problems running SQL over Remote Desktop, in that it won't start up a User Instance, but I wasn't sure if we can install over Remote Desktop.

If it's not possible, can anyone point me to an official document stating this fact?

Thanks

SQL Server 2005 Evaluation Install Error

Jan 19, 2007

I have over 50 gig of available spac eon my C drive. What gives?

When I downloaded the .exe, I had the Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect enabled. Could that have caused it? Also, 2 days ago, I installed MS-Accounting 2007. Could that have caused a problem?

I have seen this error posted on the SS2005 forums and the standard response is to look at the installation logs. I have no logs. The extraction never completed.

Expression Evaluation Caused An Overflow Error When Calling ExecuteResultSet(SqlServerCe.ResultSetOptions.Scrollable)

Oct 19, 2007

Hello

When I call ExecuteResultSet(SqlServerCe.ResultSetOptions.Scrollable) I am getting the following error when the data type is Numeric(18, 4):
Expression evaluation caused an overflow. [ Name of function (if known) = ]

The numbers involved are not that big and work fine when ExecuteReader() or ExecuteResultSet(SqlServerCe.ResultSetOptions.None) are called on the same SQL.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Dave

Code:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Dim errorDescription As String = String.Empty
Dim numericNumber As String = String.Empty
Try
Using sqlCE As New System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection("Data Source = '" & My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath & "MyDatabase.sdf';")

sqlCE.Open()

Dim sqlCECommand As SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand = sqlCE.CreateCommand()
sqlCECommand.CommandText = "SELECT SUM(MT.TPM_Measure1) AS CurrentAmount FROM BUS_Table MT"

System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(sqlCECommand.CommandText)

Dim reader As System.Data.IDataReader = Nothing
If RadioButton1.Checked Then
reader = sqlCECommand.ExecuteReader() 'Works fine
ElseIf RadioButton2.Checked Then
reader = sqlCECommand.ExecuteResultSet(SqlServerCe.ResultSetOptions.None) 'Works fine
Else
reader = sqlCECommand.ExecuteResultSet(SqlServerCe.ResultSetOptions.Scrollable) 'Causes the error!
End If

If reader.Read() Then
numericNumber = reader(0).ToString()
End If

reader.Close()
reader.Dispose()
End Using
Catch ex As Exception
errorDescription = ex.Message
Finally
Me.lblError.Text = errorDescription
Me.lblNumeric.Text = numericNumber
End Try
End Sub

TPM_Measure1 datatype is Numeric(18,4)

When the above query works the value is: 4053723.6300

Error Using SQLCE 3.5 In A VS.NET 2008 Desktop Application

Dec 17, 2007

Hi,

I was migrating one of my applications to VS.NET 2008 to start testing the new platform and encountered an error. One of my application requires the use of System.Data.SqlServerCe namespace to create a SQL Server CE database on a desktop machine.

The error is raised when I try to use a SqlCeCommand to insert rows in a table using parameters. If the order of the fields in the INSERT command does not match the order of the fields in which the table was created, an error is raised.

Investigating further, I noticed that the INSERT command was trying to insert the value of a parameter in an incorrect field. For example, the value for the field23 was being inserted into field22.

It looks like the SQL CE engine is rearranging the fields in the INSERT command to match the order of the fields in the table, but forgets to rearrange the parameters of the SqlCeCommand as well.

I give the example codes in the next posts. I will give it in both VB.NET and C#.

For both versions, you just need to create a Windows Application and add a reference to System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll. Insert the corresponding code into the Form1 partial class.

In the example, the constant RaiseError can be set to Boolean.True in order to raise the error. Set it to Boolean.False to execute correctly.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).

Error Installing SQL Svr 2K EE 64-bit

The image file setup.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine.

I've googled, but no one I know has had the issue with Win 2K3 R2, let alone in a 64-bit environment.

Has anyone come across this, or do I need to refer it to MS?
