Error: Server Agent Cant Find Dts File
Apr 17, 2006
Im trying to schedule an integration sevice package with no anvile. I have tried both running it in Agent under Integration services and operation system (CmdExec) and still wont work. Under CmdExec, the command is /FILE "C:Documents and SettingsebuahMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsSwamp_SolutionFIRSTTIME_DOWNLOADSSIS_ACT.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF. In the advance tab, I checked outfile to a log.txt file so as to read the log if there was any errors. The account running the job is the same account that sql server agent services is running which would only mean I really dont need any proxy account to run the job. When i run the job under CmdExec, i get the error

when I run the same package under integeration system, the error I get in the logg file is

I am able to run SSIS packages as SQL Server Agent jobs with a Control Flow items "File system task", if I move a file (test.txt) from a drive (c on the server (where SQL Agent jobs run) to a subdirectory on the same drive. But, if I try to move a file on a network drive, the package fail.
What I can do to solve this issue.

Hi,
I have an SSIS package designed to copy across a file from local machine to a location on the network.
The SSIS package works fine when I run it directly run it in the Designer, ie, it copies over the file to the network.
But when I run the package through the Job server agent, it fails giving me a validation error on the network path..
Does it have to do with the permissions of the User account used here? Could anyone please provide any information on this....
Thanks

Windows 2000 Server SP4 + SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Editon SP3,RAID5.
the windows event log give the following error information:
I/O error 2(The system cannot find the file specified) detected during write at offset 0x0000010c6c4000 in file 'D:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLdataGJSZBANK_Data.MDF'.
I have searched microsoft knowledge base and got this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;828339
but don't understand some contents in the topic:
For example, if you encounter the following error message in the SQL Server Errorlog file, SQL Server encountered operating system error 2 when it uses a Windows API call to write to the tempdb primary database file:
Error: 823, Severity: 24, State: 4
I/O error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.) detected during write at offset 0x00000000284000 in file 'D:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLdata empdb.mdf'
Because SQL Server has already successfully opened the file and did not receive an “Invalid Handle” error, the error is likely being raised in a lower-level kernel software component, such as the file system or a device driver. This problem does not indicate a problem in SQL Server, and it must be investigated as an issue with the file system or a device driver that is associated with the file.
Does that mean this is not a SQL Server error?
Does that mean something wrong with my operating system? or something wrong with my hard disk?

I created an assembly to access my SSRS web service in a Script task. The package runs fine on my machine but gets the following error from the production box.....
The script threw an exception: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2005, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3bd4760abc5efbcb' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I followed the exact same procedures for creating the .dll on the production box as I did developing on my machine...strong name, load to gac etc....but it still cannot find it.
My production SQL Server is 64 bit so perhaps there is another step I need to take? Anyone have a clue as to what I may be missing?
TIA

Hi,
I have a package which calls another package. It had been working fine for a while. Recently I changed the connection managers' names. Everything in the parent package works fine. Database has been updated correctly. But when it comes to calling the child package it generates :
OnError,CRPRCHMSQCZ,,Execute AMSClientAgentMaintenance,,,3/8/2007 5:49:38 PM,3/8/2007 5:49:38 PM,-1073602332,0x,Error 0x80070002 while preparing to load the package. The system cannot find the file specified.
. (there is a period here instead of a file name)
I tested the child package on the server. It works fine. I connected the child package to the Execute Package Task by selecting from the packages on the server. So it is there for sure. Connection manager's name is read from the .dtsConfig. Child package is executed from my development machine but not on the server. I made a small test package just to call this child package, it generates the same error...
Any help is appreciated

I know there are already several bug submissions on this error, and I am sure the cryptoAPI team is working to resolve this issue.. However... Is it possible that the CAPICOM update (KB931906) could have contributed to this issue? In my instance, I installed SQLServer 2005 Express w/ Adv Tools SP2 after a freash XP install. I checked it out, and everything worked fine. I updated windows (online) and now it gives this error. In fact, I cannot even run the un-install because the setup utility also hits the following error (as taken from the log file):

Hello,
I have created a package that runs without problem.
I run the package with the command dtexec /F "package_name.dtsx" > package_name.txt.
Then I run the same package from SQL Server Agent, everything is OK
Then, I tried to edit the command line to have the output file, but I got an error.
The command line is:
dtexec /F "package_name.dtsx" MAXCONCURRENT "-1" / CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E > package_name.txt.
(MAXCONCURRENT "-1" / CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E are created by default)
How can I do?

We are not certain if this has happened due to the SSIS FTP Task, but incidently the Excel file that is being copied from the FTP site using an SSIS FTP Task got corrupted a couple hours after the package was scheduled as a SQL Server Agent Job on SQL Server 2005.
I had a SQL Server 2000 DTS package doing the same thing, but it was never an issue then. I was using the FTP Task there along with an Excel Data source in that and has been working for a couple years atleast with never any corruption related issues.
In the SSIS SQL Server 2005 package I am using an FTP Task with an Excel Connection Manager and Excel source and the Excel file got corrupted within a couple hours of the package being scheduled as a SQL Server Agent job.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Any inputs will be appreciated.
Just as an fyi, the excel file has a lot of vlookups.
Thanks,

I'm setting up a Maintenance Plan to do a backup for me in the night of my SQL Databases but before the backup starts I have created a SQL Server Agent Job that runs a DOS batch (.bat) file using CmdExec. The problem is I need this process to finish processing before the rest of the tasks run in the Maintenance Plan. It seems like SQL Server Agent Job Task tells the batch file to start running (and it runs fine) but it just continues to the next task and does not wait for it to finish.
Is there any way I can configure this to wait before proceeding?
Thanks, Mark

When adding an SSIS step to a SQL Server Agent job, when selecting the location of a config file, the dialog lets you select from the database server you're working with. If selecting the location of the package itself (when the source is File System), the dialog lets you select from the machine where Management Studio is sitting instead of from the database server. Is that intentional? And if so, why? Should I just use a fully qualified file name for the package location rather than one using a drive letter?

I recently installed standalone version of SQL 2014 Standard on my work computer. I used Access before but I want to use a SQL server instead.
We have a shared drive that a file gets deposited every day at midnight. I want to be able to get this file and import it to the server (its basically a list of names).
Here what I have done so far:
I created the database
Created the file and successfully imported data into it using the Import Data feature.
I saved the SSIS package
Scheduled an Agent Job for this package to run at certain time, daily
At first the jobs would fail with a Access is Denied. I added a user under Credentials with my network account ( have admin rights on the work computer). Also added a Proxy for the Credential user I made.
Jobs fail with a “Cannot open data file” error. I tried changing things here and there, but I can’t get it to work.

Hi,
I want to generate a new snapshot using stored procedures. I want to wait for the snapshot files to be created and then execute a stored procedure. What's the best way to determine that the snapshot has completed successfully? I thought of doing something like:
exec msdb.dbo.sp_help_job
@job_name = @job_name
@job_aspect = 'job',
@execution_status = 1
however I can't put the results of that proc into a temp table because I get this error:
Msg 8164, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_get_composite_job_info, Line 72
An INSERT EXEC statement cannot be nested.
Any ideas? I'd like a T-SQL solution.
Thanks,
Mark.

I have been having a problem with an attempted install of sp2 (the updated one) and don't have a clue on how to get past it. Here is the error that I get
MSP Error: 29537 SQL Server Setup has encountered the following problem: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]SQL Server blocked access to procedure 'dbo.sp_is_sqlagent_starting' of component 'Agent XPs' because this component is turned off as part of the security configuration for this server.
What is strange is that I have ensured that the Agent XP's are enabled prior to the sp install by checking the agent xp's configuration option but it seems as though during the sp install it disables them and encounters problems when trying to start the SQL Agent resulting in a failure of the sp install with the message shown above.
When I check the database after the failure, it does show the AgentXP's as being disabled. I've re-enabled them multiple times with the same result.
The sp is being installed on a 2 node cluster but only one node is having the problem, the other upgraded fine. I have also had this problem on a single non-clustered server with 3 instances where two of them installed fine but one didn't, it too had the same error message.
My basic configuration is as follows:
x64 Windows 2003 Standard Edition R2
SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition (for the clustered server) Dev Edition for the standalone server
Any thoughts on how to get past this problem or is this a bug?
