I am getting the following error using the Web Site Administration
Tool. I have created the database I want to use. Please
help.

The utility either is not working or I do not know how to use it.
I have SQL 2005 Express and SQL 2000. SQL 2000 is working
properly, not sure about SQL 2005. I have been told to use SQL
2000 because that is what our server is using. I am developing on
my server and when application works will port to our server.

I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, I can login to it just fine using SQL Server Management Studio Express. I ran the aspnet_regsql and it created the aspnetdb database. But when I try to test the AspNetMembershipProvider or go to the Security tab in the ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool it does not work. I have tried messing with the connectionString of the LocalSqlServer in the machine.config, but to no avail. My SQL Server is installed on the Default Instance. Can someone help me get ASP.NET Web Site Administrator to work with my SQL Server 2005 Express Edition?
I am using the Web Site Administration Tool with the ASP.NET login controls to create/manage user logins & roles for my site.
I have exported the ASPNETDB.MDF into my SQL Database ready to use with my app. The problem that I'm having is that whenever I add a user, using either the Web Site Administration Tool or the Classes available in the code-behind. The entry is doubled up in the database.
This is not a problem when logging on....however, when it comes to deleting a user it will only take one of the entries out and leave the duplicate in there. So if the administrator has deleted a user from the app and then tried to create another one with the same UserName (Which whomever is well within his/her rights to be able to do), they cannot because the entry which has "stay behind" in the database conflicts with the entry.
Any help on this matter would be greatly apprieciated. If any more info on this matter is required please ask (It was quite hard to try and explain this :-)

I basically need to access and modify the database from any machine that may not have SQL Enterprise Manager Installed. I am trying to set up the web administration for a website that uses login controls. I have set up the ASPNETDB database using the regular aspnet_regsql command on my SQLEXPRESS.
To set up the web admin tool, I created a vdir to point to %WINDIR%Microsoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727ASP.NETWebAdminFiles. This works absolutely fine. I also changed the configuration of this website to use the ASPNETDB on my SQLEXPRESS.
The administration website works fine till I click on the security tab, and I get the following error:
Cannot open database "aspnetdb" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'HOMEASPNET'
What I don't understand is why the application is using the ASPNET account to connect to the database when impersonation is enabled. Isn't it supposed to use the credentials of the windows user? I read a couple of posts on MSDN which advise to explicitly create a login for the ASPNET user in the ASPNETDB database (which will definitely work) but somehow it seems counter-intuitive to me. Any advise anyone?
I am new to VWD, and web development. I installed VWD and SQL Server Express local.

I read some article. According to the articles, SQL Server Express will automatically create the asp database for the first time. but my SSE did not create the database.

I recieved it after i try'ed to change the default Providers and use another DB then default. Now i want to go back to how it was from start, if i create a user and role - i want VS 2005 to create a SQL Express DB for me. Can anyone help me? If you see, it says that the source file is "c:inetpubwwwrootweb.config" but my ReportServer document root is in other place, i've tried coping the web.config file to wwwroot, but nothing.
Correct me if I'm wrong... There is a potentially costly error in at least 2 Reporting Services 2005 licensing docs on Microsoft€™s web site. They fixed the docs a few months ago after I called and told them about it but, now they are bad again! Here are links to the bogus docs:
Both of these docs say that you need 2 SQL licenses to run Reporting Services 2005 on a separate server from the SQL engine. This is not true. You only need 1 license! You do of course need the correct number of CAL's or a CPU license.
The license.txt file that ships on the SQL Server 2005 standard edition install disk is very clear about this. As you know this is the only doc that is legally binding. It€™s the only doc that matters. Also, I called and talked to both the licensing department and the SQL Server product manager about this. Both confirmed that this was done on purpose in response to customer feedback!
Please help me pressure the marketing document at Microsoft to fix these confusing documents once and for all! This will be my last post about this issue. I felt that I had to make one final attempt to get this fixed before I give up. I€™m having a lot of trouble getting people to actually read the license.txt and understand the issue. I have just installed SSRS 2005 SP2 on a x86 box (one of several boxes we use to run SSRS). However, on this particular machine, I get an http 404.3 error (file not found) when attempting to access any aspx file in the reports virtual directory. aspx files in the /reportserver site all return just fine.
All the check marks for the configuration site show green I've uninstalled / re-installed / re-booted / etc... No luck
I'm currently learning my way around with SQL Server 2005 and asp.net 2.0, and for this I wrote a little site that uses SQL Server for it's backend.
I developed it on my laptop, and it works great, until I deployed the website to my test server, so it's visible to the outside world.
The instance I try to access any page that invokes the database, I get the following error: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).
The server doesn't differ much from my laptop setup, except that it accepts connections through named pipes and TCP/IP and has the Network Service as a user(I also tried running the website under Administrator privileges, just to test it out).
Both IIS and the SQL Server running on the same machine(Windows 2003 Server SP1), and the SQL server accepts connections from a locally running SQL Management Studio Express instance. However: It does not accept connections from my laptop, which resides outside the domain. The server is set to use Windows Authentication for log ins.
What am I doing wrong here?

Hello, I am running out of ideas on how to get SSRS to work. I am trying get this setup with the intention to replace our Crystal Reports server. Currently I have set up the RS Virtual Directory on a Win XP box. The ReportServer database sits on another SQL2000 box.
I can connect to the http://localhost/ReportServer/ on the XP box to display the page the depicts "Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 9.00.2047.00"
When I connect to the http://localhost/Reports/, I get this error "A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http://leej/Reports/'. Line 1, Position 2" I checked my IIS Virtual Directory properties for Reports and ASP.NET is set to v2.0.50727. I also executed "aspnet_regiis.exe -i" in the "C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727" directory.
Any thought on how to fix this? I hate to let this blocker deters us from deploying SSRS.
We have a report where we do a whole bunch of calculations.
Sometimes we get #div0 err,when you try to divide a number by 0, or NaN Error, when you are trying to divide 0 in the numerator.. Is there a tool, that can sopt check these errors on a report in reporting services, and generate a log that we can check daily for errs?Pl advise
My site crashed, so I had to rebuild the Project Site.
I used the SharePoint products and technologies configuration wizard to disconnect from the server farm (only actually running on the single server).
I then reran SharePoint products and technologies configuration wizard to setup the site.
Configured the Project Service and attached to the existing dB's.
Previously, I used the url http://servername.domain.forest/PWA/default.aspx .
Now when I attempt the use the same URL, I get the following error:
"An unexpected error has occurred"
I have tested this one 3 servers now and I receive the exact same result. Is there a path I should apply to the servers in order to allow fully qualified server names after a reinstall of the system?
I have set up a locahost site in IIS using the "Configure Web Synchronization Wizard". One of the first test I was asked to do was to open a broweser and browse to http://localhost/MobileTest/sqlcesa30.dll
If all is well I should get a web page with the following line:
SQL Server Mobile Server Agent 3.0
But unfortunately I get an error stating : "The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."
I checekd the Event log and found this error related the IIS launch process on my machine.
DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon .IWAM_Rataq in order to run the server:
where Rataq is the name of my machine. Could my IWAM_Rataq account be corrupted, my other sites on the machine work.
Infact if i put in a Test.htm page in the virtual directory MobileTest I am able to browse to the page.
Can the Account be re-set? is there another problem that I am not aware of. I have Norton Internet 2006 running could that be the reason? Could Norton be blocking the dll from loading? But the event log states it is a Account error.
Any ideas why this might occur? any help is always appreciated

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and reporting services (followed the video tutorial). Whenever I try to open the Reporting Configuration Tool, it gives me the following error:
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Configuration Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience.
My only options are to Debug or Close.
I'm not sure why I am getting this error. Can anyone help?
I have SQL 2005, and Reporting Service has been uninstalled and reinstalled, go through each step of confiugration until Encryption Key, for some reason, the backup button is grayed out, only "restore" button is clickable, as well as Delete, but we never backup the key before, so this is really strange since we do not have backupkey, so we cannot restore.
we tried "Delete", then we got the following error:

I've SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 configured on my system, but now I'm NOT Able to start the report server. I get this error on http://<serverurl>/Reports/Home.aspx:

FYI, I've modified the SQL Reporting Services account LogOnAs info, in Properties of "SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER)" Service, in Windows Service Managment.
Earlier I had .useraccount as username, I modified it to domainnameuseraccount. And then suddenlt everything broke for reporting server.
