I'm merge replicating between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Compact on mobile devices. I recently had a problem with reinitialization of subscriber databases (please see my previous post, no responses yet...) which I couldn't resolve and had to get 15 subscribers to backup their dbs so I could manually restore each one onto the server. Most of the subscribers were able (yesterday) to then delete their local dbs, create new db files and sync with a snapshot. Today I'm trying to sync a new db with a newly created snapshot and getting the following errors:
2007/08/29 16:23:17 Thread=1118 RSCB=67 Command=SCHK Hr=8004563C An error occurred while reading the .bcp data file for the 'MSmerge_rowtrack' article. If the .bcp file is corrupt, you must regenerate the snapshot before initializing the Subscriber. -2147199428
2007/08/29 16:23:17 Thread=1118 RSCB=67 Command=SCHK Hr=80045017 The merge process was unable to deliver the snapshot to the Subscriber. If using Web synchronization, the merge process may have been unable to create or write to the message file. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write. -2147201001
The only difference from yesterday is that there was a server restart this morning. I have regenerated the snapshot but it still doesn't work. This is only affecting users with new (empty) databases, users who regenerated their dbs yesterday can sync ok.
I have read other posts about folder/file permissions affecting snapshot delivery, but there have been no changes to permissions since successful snapshot deliveries yesterday.
I would really appreciate any help with this. At the moment I have 3 users who can't use the system at all.
A failure occurred when accessing 'MSmerge_contents_table290_forall.bcp' due to an operating system error [3='The system cannot find the path specified.'] during Web synchronization. Ensure that the -InternetLogin user when using basic authentication and the user running the merge when using Windows integrated authentication has been granted access to the snapshot share.

The processing of the response message failed.
I've tried compressing the snapshot, and can see the bcp file in the snapshot.
I get the following error when trying to run a pull subscription from the subscriber:
The schema script '' could not be propagated to the subscriber. (Source: Merge Replication Provider (Agent); Error number: -2147201001) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The process could not connect to FTP site 'ftp://ESOFTSERVER.NO-IP.INFO' using port 21. I've tried everything I could to solve this problem, but I can't get it working.
This is to do with HTTPS merge replication. We were getting an error when downloading the initial snapshot. The snapshot was about 25 meg, over an average link. It returned an error after a few minutes - it did start to download the .cab file (it was compressed).
By not compressing the cabinet file, it worked fine - I can only presume it was some sort of timeout error. The downside was that the amount of data was much greater, with it not being compressed.
Questions therefore are: a) is this time of timeout a known condition and if so what can I do about it
b) slightly unrelated- can an alternate location be given for the snapshot, like you can in non-HTTPS anonymous subscriptions.
Main properties in creating the subscription is as follows:
i have created a publication whereas i have provided a network path to its snapshop folder e.g ( \serverfolder ) at time of creating. When i try to make a Pull Subscription and follow all steps of wizards, it gives me following error "The initial snapshot for publication '---' is not yet available". can you guide me what are causes of this problem and how may i solve it?
I've been having an error when downloading the snapshot agent from our Publisher.
The articles selected are all the tables and all the stored procedures.
The Subscription is created programmatically and so is the synchronization. When trying to synchronize for the first time and when the subscriber tries to download the snapshot I have the following error:
Error messages: The schema script 'Distrito_2.sch' could not be propagated to the subscriber. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147201001) Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL-2147201001 The process could not read file 'GESZifuncAFRODITE$SILVITEST_GESZIF_GESZIF20070621182845Distrito_2.sch' due to OS error 3. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL3) Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL3
The snapshot folder is at c:GESZifSnapshotFolder and the unc is \AfroditeSnapshot.
I'm getting a little desperate with this because we really need to propagate the schema changes around the subscribers.
When I am trying to synchronize my sql server ce database with sql server 2000, I am getting this error in the Replication Monitor and Synchronization gets fail.
How to Create initial snapshot or is there any step by step configuration document available for Merge Replication with SQL server 2000 and sql ce.
I am trying to set up replication between a central office and multiple sites. This will be merge repl, since either central or satellites can be modified. However, one issue I ran into is setting up subscribers. I don't always have the option of starting with a publisher's snapshot; some of the subscribers have their own data already, which may or may not overlap with central site, and which needs to be synchronized into the central site somehow.
So far, I haven't seen any solution for this kind of scenario, at least nothing out of the box. Am I doomed to having to roll out custom data transfers (I don't think I can use DTS since all sites are running Express), or is there some standard way of doing this?
I am setting up a combination of transactional and merge replicationon a very large database and do not want to apply the initial snapshotsince this would take to long. I am doing this with scripts that werepreviosly created when the database was not this big. I want to copythe publisher DB over to the Subscriber Server. Can I use theparameter @sync_type to 'none' when running the sp_addsubscription?Does anyone have any experience in doing this? Thanks in Advance for any help on this.Alan
I keep getting eeror mess when downloading SQL server 2005. Micro soft cust service says they are not qualified to fix but if I pay $99.00 they can have someone help with it.
I think that is nuts since they are sending me the download. I tried to do it manually and some components installed but everyday I get update notifications
Can someone help debug this error while downloading to EXCEL format from RS? I notice that whenever i trim down the length of my report name, the error has not occurred.

Hi there, I am having a problem following the installation of SQL Server 2005. When i try to run the SQL Server Configuration Manager, i get the following error message:
"Cannot connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable. Note that you can only manage SQL Server 2005 servers with SWL Server Configuration Manager. Class not registered [0x80040154]"
I looked at the thread "Unable to Uninstall SQL server 2005 Express" in which the same error number was mentioned and followed the advice, but still i get the same results. I have also tried mofcomp "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Sharedsqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof" in command prompt, but no luck. Im running windows xp professional SP2.
Ive spent 4 hours on this issue, and even tried uninstalling and installing again, but i am having no luck. Any help is deeply appreciated.
I seem to have a strange problem when applying a snapshot when the tables in the publication have been updated while the snapshot was being generated.
Say for example there is a table called RMAReplacedItem in the publication. When the snapshot starts being applied to the subscriber, a stored procedure called sp_MSins_RMAReplacedItem_msrepl_css gets created that handles an insert if the row already exists (ie it updates the row rather than inserting it). However, after all the data has been loaded into the tables, instead of calling this procedure, it tries to call one called sp_MSins_RMAReplacedIte_msrepl_cssm - it takes the last letter of the table name and adds it to the end of the procedure name.
The worst part is that this causes the application of the snapshot to fail, but it doesnt report what the error is, and instead it just tries applying the snapshot again. The only way i have managed to find which call is failing is to run profiler against the subscriber while the snapshot is being applied and see what errors.
I have run sp_broswereplcmds and the data in there is what is applied to the subscriber - ie the wrong procedure name.
All the servers involved are running sql 2005 service pack 2. The publisher and subscriber were both upgraded from sql 2000, but the distribution server is a fresh install of sql 2005.
sql version 9.00.3042 on both source and dest servers. the publication has a single article, a table w/ an xml column. when the initial snapshot runs we get the following, any ideas?

Hello, I have setup web sync from wm 5.0 and it seems to crash when applying the snapshot. Looking at the column definitions it seems fine. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, does anyone get this snapshot on mirroring. My mirror server had been down for 1 month+ and just up again. Then my principal server will automatic synchronizing with it. Once i create snapshot on the mirror server for checking whether it get the latest record, there's an error msg which shows 'The database must be online to have a database snapshot.' Then I leave it for 1 hour+ for synchronizing and then still the same. Can I get any solution of it? Thx for the assistance.
I have a problem when i Want to run the Snapshot Agent in SQL Server 2005. I have done all the tutorial called Replication Data with Mobile Clients and i done the previous tutorial called : Preparing the Server for Replication. But in the Lesson One i can't run the Snapshot Agent but the publicationis good. Can you help me ? This is the error's code :

I am setting up a large number of Push subscribers to a single publication. because of the large number of subscribers, I am not doing the merge with agent jobs, but with SQL RMO. All works well, but from time to time I am getting a funny error when I add a event handler to the snapshotagent, to return the messages, if some feedback to the screen on how the process is getting along.
The error also happen when the process is al most done. Basically when I am not compiling in this line, then NO error.
//Add the Event Handler to receive the Status changes
DynamicSnapshotAgent.Status += AgentEvent;
But once I started getting the error, then it would not go away, sometimes if the publication & subscribers is recreated it goes away but not always, first do not use the event anymore, and at some stage I can put is back after a few succesful dynamic snapshot, then I can enable the event and it will work again........
Any help welkom
Regards
Gertus

I'm running SQL 7.0 SP3 on two different machines (one with additional hotfixes). I'm taking a nightly snapshot of imported data on Server1 and pushing it out to another SQL 7.0 server on our network, Server2. All but one table is copied successfully. On the final table, I receive the message, "The process could not bulk copy into table '"%"'." Error Information Category: Data Source, Source: Server2, Number 4813.
Full error message: "Expected the text length in data stream for bulk copy of text, ntext, or image data."
I've looked up 4813, but it's pretty ambiguous/generic. Also, when I SELECT from Server1 and INSERT INTO Server2 in the QA, I receive no errors. Does anyone have any insight?
i am getting the below error while applying running the Synchronization agent for the Subscriber. I have created replication topology with one central server and one subscriber. I'm running SQL Server 2005 SP2 64bit under Windows Server 2003 64 bit The system is the replication distributor as well. Transactional replication.
But I can't create the snapshot!
I have run snapshot.exe repeteadly with all parameters in a command prompt and it crashes at various BCP percentages. The error is like this: 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 [10%] Bulk copied snapshot data for article 'Dictionary (part 14 of 20)' (1656 rows). 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 [10%] The replication agent had encountered an exception. 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 Source: Replication 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 Exception Type: Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.NativeSqlConnectionException 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 Exception Message: Data conversion failed 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 Message Code: 02007-10-16 00:38:56.32 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 Call Stack: 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.NativeSqlConnectionException: Data conversion failed 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.Snapshot.SqlServer.NativeBcpOutProvider.ThrowNativeBcpOutException(CConnection* pNativeConnectionWrapper) 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.Snapshot.SqlServer.NativeBcpOutProvider.BcpOut(String strBcpObjectName, String strBcpObjectOwner, String strBaseBcpObjectName, Boolean fUnicodeConversion, String strDataFile, String strLoadOrderingHint, String strWhereClause) 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.Snapshot.SqlServer.BcpOutThreadProvider.DoWork(WorkItem workItem) 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.WorkerThread.NonExceptionBasedAgentThreadProc() 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.MainWorkerThread.AgentThreadProc() 2007-10-16 00:38:56.32 at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.AgentCore.BaseAgentThread.AgentThreadProcWrapper() 2007-10-16 00:38:56.33 [10%] Bulk copied snapshot data for article 'Dictionary (part 15 of 20)' (1487 rows). 2007-10-16 00:38:56.33 [10%] Bulk copying snapshot data for article 'Dictionary (part 20 of 20)'
the fact that BCP continues to copy data after the error makes me believe the crash occurs somewhere else.
How can I isolate the offending table? Can I capture the BCP commands issued?
We've got a problem with our replication. If I try to run the snapshot agent I get the message "Query for data failed". The detail view of this message shows the following:
I urgently need a solution for this. I have configured merge replication between a webhoster and a local machine and it is working perfectly but when I am adding an article (table) which has a CLR assembly associated with it, the merge replication is failing saying it cannot apply the schema of the CLR assembly at the client. I think Microsoft supposedly says in it's documentation that merge replication supports CLR assemblies. I have recreated the snapshot after selecting the table (article) and I have reinitialised the subscription also but it is just not working. It is the simplest of replication with just one publisher and one subscriber.
I am using snapshot replication to copy data from one database to another. I truncate the destination table first. The publisher and the subscriber are different databases on the same server. The data turns into 1 unrecognizable row.
Here is what the source table looks like: displayTypeID, displayType 1, Title List Formats 2, Title Details 3, Title List Export 4, Pricing Notes 5, clone Mask 001 6, clone Mask 002 7, clone Mask 004 8, clone Mask 008 9, hide From Admin 10, not Common Attr 11, Insert Title 12, title Types
The resulting data looks like this: DisplayType, displayTypeId , 1660953600 I see no errors in replication and nothing in the source table looks like bad data that could cause such a malady. I see the problem on two different servers now and identified the source of the problem, the column order is reversed in the source and destination tables. The data types do not even match so I would at the very least expect an error from bcp.
I'm creating a publication with a complex filter joining many tables, for replication between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Mobile 2005. Is there a limit on the number of articles, or depth of joins, in the filter? I have a working replication, but when I add another article joined to tables already in there, the snapshot agent status window gives me this error:
String or binary data would be truncated. Cannot find the object 'MSmerge_ctsv_2C675AF5938E4EA1B7D0DCFF9ECAD9EB', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. sp_MS_marksystemobject: Invalid object name '[dbo].[MSmerge_upd_2C675AF5938E4EA1B7
The MSmerge_ctsv... system view being referred to DOES in fact exist. But I wonder if there's an internal varchar variable used to hold the join criteria which is too short for what I'm trying to do.
