Error During Merge Web Sync
Aug 7, 2006
Hello,
We have 5 subscribers trying to replicate via web synchronization. Two of the subscribers get the following message and the other three are fine. Any ideas on what the problem is or where to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance.
John
Error on client output:
The format of a message during Web synchronization was invalid. Ensure that replication components are properly configured at the Web server.

Hi;
We are performing merge replication between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Mobile with more than 1100 handheld, and recently replications are terminating with eror code 80040E19.
We can only avoid the problem by deleting the related user's partition directory and reruning the related user's dynamic snapshot.
Any advice on this issue would be appreciated
Thanks,

All,
I am trying to configure merge replication to a SQL CE database using web synchronization.
It works if IIS is on the same box as the SQL Server publisher but when I attempt this using separate boxes I get the following message.
Getting this message
Error messages:
· The schema script 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLReplDatauncPUBSERVER_TESTGOLFTEST_TESTGOLFTESTPUBFILTER20070601105864TESTTransType_2.sch' could not be propagated to the subscriber. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147024893)
Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL-2147024893
· The merge process was unable to deliver the snapshot to the Subscriber. If using Web synchronization, the merge process may have been unable to create or write to the message file. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147201001)
Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL-2147201001
I have followed every bit of advice I can find in the MSDN forums, ensuring that the distributor is writing to a UNC and that the perms for the process are correct.
The 2 test servers are not in a domain and I wonder if this is the issue but connectivity between the 2 servers does not appear to be an issue as I am using administrative ids for connectivity for this test.
BOL is all over the place regarding this subject and I am linked out (perhaps the info I need is in there but who can find it?)
Any guidance would be truly appreciated.

thanks 4 ur rpl..well i have a simple doubt if u can guide me it will b gr8 help..well i am developing an application of location based services, in which i am going to store my data on SQLserver 2005 and will fetch the data from it when the user logs in to the user's PDA device so that a user can work offline on the data when there is no connection and when he gets the connection he can synchronize the data with SQLserver 2005. so now i m confuse whether i should use the merge replication or ado.net synchronization framework or RDA?what is the difference between merge replication and synchronization and which is better?

Hi,
is there a way to ensure a merge subscription is synchronised before it is removed from the publisher using SMO? - (it is a push subscription)
I thought I had it as there is a MergeSynchronizationAgent object on the SubscriptionDatabase object, but calling Synchronize() on this throws an exception saying it can't contact the publisher.
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

We are running merge replication. My identity value was out of sync and the inserts stopped working. I Reseeded the identity value to 1500000 and ran "sp_adjustpublisheridentity" which set that to the new range (and table constraint)Â in the MSMerge file and table. I discovered my error and Reseeded the table back to 150000. How to I get the new range to be created when it is LESS than 1500000 in the MsMerge file???? Can I use the sp_restoreidentity....???

I am using a merge publication set to synchronize schema changes. Why am I getting the following message when I try to sync after having added columns in the publication database using ALTER TABLE statements?
The schema definition of the destination table ... in the subscription database does not match the schema definition of the source table in the publication database. Reinitialize the subscription without a snapshot after ensuring that the schema definition of the destination table is the same as the source table.
Also, why doesn't reinitializing the subscription with @upload_first = false not fix the problem?

I have the merge replication (Push)Â for SQL Server 2008.The right-click option for Start and Stop Synchronizing in subscriptions has been disabled. How can I stop the merge replication and start again ?
This error happened 1 week after I created the merge replication. The merge data cannot sync to subscriber and only solution I can use is drop and re-create the merge replication again but error would be re-occur a week later. The merge replication work fine before and start from middle on May 2015, but it keep happen right now.

Hi
I am trying to setup merge replication using web sync. I keep on getting the message: The Proxy Auto-configuration URL was not found. Yes I have read all the postings telling me to check my internet explorer settings concerning proxy server and auto-detection - I am not using a proxy - auto detection is unchecked.
Does anyone have another clue?

Hi, I have compact sql databases which will be local on multiple users
devices. Due to space constraints, for one of the tables i have had to use
auto incrementing integer which works fine for the local database but i
would like to merge all of the users databases into a global database. The
table format can be seen below:
Code SnippetCREATE TABLE Players
(
ID UNIQUEIDENTIFIER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
FirstName NVARCHAR(32),
LastName NVARCHAR(32)
);
CREATE TABLE Sessions
(
ID INTEGER NOT NULL IDENTITY,
PlayerID UNIQUEIDENTIFIER ,
SessionDateTime DATETIME,
CONSTRAINT pkSessions PRIMARY KEY (ID),
CONSTRAINT fkPlayerID FOREIGN KEY (PlayerID) REFERENCES Players(ID)
);
CREATE TABLE SessionDetail
(
SessionID INTEGER,
Time real,
Power real,
CONSTRAINT pkSessionDetail PRIMARY KEY (SessionID,StrokeTime),
CONSTRAINT fkSessionID FOREIGN KEY (SessionID) REFERENCES Sessions(ID)
);
The Players table will merge fine as GUIDs are used. However, how will the
sync capabilities of compact SQL handle the sessions table? When it pushes
the local data to the remote database will it change the Sessions.ID column
to a unique field (as no doubt lots of people will have 1, 2, 3 in their
local databases and the global database must have a unique ID), and then
transfer this changed ID back to the local database? Furthermore, if it
changes the Sessions.ID column during the merge it will also need to update
the SessionDetail.SessionID foreign key to maintain referential integrity,
is this also handled?
So my question is, how much of this sync and data merge is automated and are
there any good examples or pointers for my scenario? I cannot reasonably use
a GUID for Session.ID as there will be lots of SessionDetail entries and the
size would be far too much.
Many thanks,
Chris

If anyone could confirm...
SQL Server 2000 SP4 to multiple SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition on PDAs. My DB on SQL2k is published with a single dynamic row filter using host_name() on my 'parent' table and also join filters from parent to child tables. The row filter uses joins to other tables elsewhere that are not published to evaluate what data is allowed through the filter.
E.g. Published parent table that contains suppliers names, etc. while child table is suppliers' products. The filter queries host_name(s) linked to suppliers in unpublished table elsewhere.
First initial sync with snapshot is correct and as I expected - PDA receives only the data from parent (and thus child tables) that matches the row filter for the host_name provided.
However - in my scenario host_name <--> suppliers may later be updated E.g. more suppliers assigned to a PDA for use or vice versa. But when I merge the mobile DB, the new data is not downloaded? Tried re-running snapshot, etc., no change.
Question: I thought the filters would remain dynamic and be applied on each sync?
I run a 'harmless' update on parent table using TSQL e.g. "update table set 'X' = 'X'" and re-sync. Now the new parent records are downloaded - but the child records are not!
Question: I wonder why if parent records are supplied, why not child records?
If I delete existing DB and sync new, I get the updated snapshot and all is well - until more data added back at server...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible (or not) to have dynamic filters run during second or subsequent merge?

I developed a Sql 2005/Sql Mob merge application for a Dell Axim x51. After making the initial connection from PDA to Desktop (Activesync), the first attempt to sync/rep the database generates an HRESULT error. All subsequent attempts work just fine. As a short term fix I put my sync routine in the error handler so it makes the initial and second attempt. Any idea why first attempt fails. SQL 2005 and IIS are on same machine running XP Pro.

Hi
We are using HTTPS merge replication.
One of my subscribers is getting this error:
Error messages:
The Merge Agent failed after detecting that retention-based metadata cleanup has deleted metadata at the Publisher for changes not yet sent to the Subscriber. You must reinitialize the subscription (without upload). (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147199402)
This is a bit surprising - it has been working fine - and also there were no changes at the publisher (it only has one article in this publication - a stored proc)
Why would this have happened ? The retention period is 45 days and they synchronised successfully only a few days prior.
thanks

I am trying to set up a merge replication between SQL 2005 and SQL Express. When I try to apply the snapshot to the SQL Express database. I get the error "Can not access filepathSnapshot.pre due to error OS 3"
Does anyone know what OS error 3 applies to?
Also, when I try to place the snapshop in the default folder location say D:ReplicationData the create snapshot process will work. If I try to place the snapshot folder not in the default and in a UNC like this \serverIPReplicationData I get an access error. sqlAgent has access to the share, which is fully shared out. Any ideas?

For your information.
I have 1.7GB free space in C drive. Is it a space problem in C drive? Actually my data base is storing in E drive. It has 30GB free space. But Sql Server installed in D drive it has 2 GB free space.

Dear Friends,
I am very new to replication, For learning purpose I am trying to setup merge replication. The given setup I am using.
1. Windows 2000 Server + SP4 (Publisher for SQL 2000)
2. Windows 2003 Server + SP1 (Subscriber For SQL 2000)
I am getting a replication error, I have taken this errors details from merge agent on publisher server.
Find enclosed replication error details in the microsoft document file format (.doc). The document is consist of three SQL Server snapshot rather three diffrent errors.
In the pictures you can find the red & white color cross (wrong sign) on replication monitor tab, I don't know why it is appearing.
Kindly, give me guidance to rectify this error & setup the marge replication between two SQL 2000 Servers.

I have a merge replication publication that has been running for
months. This week the Snapshot started failing, reporting that an
article was not included in the publication. I checked and found
3 articles that mysteriously no longer show up as being in the
publication. When I attempt to add them it reports that it can't
add them because there is already an article by that name in the
publication. Apparently some table has lost its rows for these
articles while another table(s) still has its rows.
Has anyone had this problem? Is there a solution short of
dropping the publication and starting over - a solution that would
literally take weeks for us?
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I have setup merge replication between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Express. The setup uses web synchronization. (And the setup uses dynamic filter HOST_NAME)
On some of the client machines, replication fails with the following error (when initializing the subscription):
from subscriber merge agent verbose log:
A dynamic snapshot will be applied from 'D:DOCUME~1JBAUMG~1.CORLOCALS~1TempDB101-EQA-SCL_BQDB_BQ_PUB_BQDB'
Validating dynamic snapshot
2007-04-1819:39:45.434 OLE DB Subscriber 'FRG-BAUMGARTENJSQLEXPRESS': sys.sp_MSregisterdynsnapseqno @snapshot_session_token=N'\XXX.XX.XX.XXSnapshotuncDB101-EQA-SCL_BQDB_BQ_PUB20070417180079dynsnap', @dynsnapseqno='5599F67E-A1A9-4573-A14F-9851F6FE4B51'
(Note: XXX.XX.XX.XX is a proper IP of DB, I have just masked it in the post)
The merge process was unable to deliver the snapshot to the Subscriber. If using Web synchronization, the merge process may have been unable to create or write to the message file. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write.
I enabled verbose logging for the snapshot agent for the subscriber, but there was no error there. It is obvious from the log info above that the error occurs only after downloading the snapshot to the client and during applying it to the subscriber by the merge agent.
After I got this error, I tried running the subscriber program again and it successfully replicated on the third attempt. But this behavior is not consistent and it fails for most of the time on some of the machines
Any info on this error?

Hi colleagues!
In trying to activate a merge replication between a Win2000/SQL7 distributor/publisher and a Win2003/SQL2000 subscriber I keep getting the following error:
Process could not enumerate changes at the subscriber (error 2812)
Merge publication works fine between the distributor and another subscriber (NT4/SQL7).
When i look at the details of the merge agent history i can see the process stopped with :
call sp_MSenumeratechanges(?,?,?,?,?)
I read article 308743 on microsoft/technet, and there they advise to install SP3a for SQL2000 on the subscriber. Ive done that but the error persists.
SQLServerAgent on the subscriber starts up with a local administrator account, the (physical) server itself is not a member of the local network; (outside the DMZ). The server is declared in the Client Network Utility of the distributor/publisher and is therefore known as a potential subscriber. In fact, the snapshot agent works perfectly (or so it seems).
Can anyone give me a helpfull hint?
Thanks!

I'm trying to set up a merge replication. Publication is created successfully and snapshot also, but when I create pull subscription on subscriber server and merge agent starts, after some time I get an error message of this type:
The schema script '\ANILREPLDATAuncANIL_BEJK_BEJK20070625142735dl_HF_vMSCene_3836.sch' could not be propagated to the subscriber.
It seams there is a problem with certain Views and SPs, because tables are successfully created, and some Views and SPs also.
I tried to exclude problematic articles, but every time another one pops up. Up until now, I excluded 7 articles from publication (1 Stored Procedure and 6 Views) but I still get errors.
I gave up because I can't exclude half of the Views and SPs just to make it work.
Is there something that can be done to solve this problem?
Thanks!
