I am using Windows Vista Home Premium Operating System.. so i have installed SQL SERVER 2005 SP2, and SQL EXPRESS too. but supports only SQL Server Authentication Mode but dosn't support Windows Authentication Mode i wanted to create my database based on Windows Authentication Mode
so what to do.. plz help me out

Durning install I selected Window's Authentication only, but now it seems we may need to use a Mixed Mode with an SA account etc... is there anyway to switch SQL 2005 to use Mixed Mode after the fact?

There is a query which when executed in the grid mode(ctrl+d) takes approx 0.02 seconds(about 21,000
rows) But when I execute in the text mode, it takes about 0.40 seconds!!
Why is this difference?
Also, when the records from this table are read from a VB application, they are equally slow (as in the text mode!)
Why is it so slow on the text mode & relatively faster in the grid mode?
Has anyone got any idea on ‘Firehose’ style cursor ?(which may speed up access of data in the VB application)

Ever since installing SQL service pack2 I've run into a very strange error.
Just about every day, 1 or more databases just switch themselves into Single-User Mode. Since these databases form the back-end of websites, this is obviously a serious problem. No-one can get in. I've checked out the MS knowledge base, and books online, but I can't find a thing about this behavior.
Has anybody else run into this? - Does anybody know where I could begin to look to trace this error down? Its been going on for more than a week and I'm still at square one.
Any help would be apppreciated.

On 2 servers (Windows 2000 and Windows 2003) both with SQL Server 2000 - the Operating System Event Viewer - System Log - shows Event ID 2012 (Warning - Source = Srv;network error occured).
On the Client side - we get the following error:
unable to open table.: ODBC Error: ODBC RC=-1, ODBC SQLState=08S01, DBMS RC=11, DBMS Msg=[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]General network error. Check your network documentation
This seems to only occur when the testing is done in a multithreaded mode.
Any ideas?

Does anyone know of any documentation that addresses this issue or have experience that they can share with changing Report Builder security zone from Intranet mode to Internet mode?

I would like to find out how the SQL server option changed to Windows Authentication mode from Mixed mode over the weekend. From the SQL log, I don't see when it changed. I would like to see Date/Time and client IP. If I can see User ID (windows) that would be great. Where I can find these info in SQL server?

I have two instances (Source and Destination) on the same server, i did a full backup of a database on the source server, i did a restore on the destination using the NORECOVERY mode, now the database on the destination as green arrow saying "restoring". From the source database i set up the mirroring, i'm using port 5022 on source and 5023 on destination, everything seems to connect fine but when i start mirroring i get the error message "Database mirroring cannot be enabled because the database is not full recovery error: 1465" but when i look at the property of the db on the source the recovery model shows full as so the destination?

I run 2 steps viz with NORECOVERY and with RECOVERY in sequence as SQP jobs. The 2nd step fails some times. When it starts failing, I run full backup of the production server again and the 2nd step starts succeding. Unless I run the full backup the 2nd step keeps on failing.
What are the conditions which generate for [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3013) and how to tackle this problem.?

Can any one please tell me how to get the complete error description for example when i dont Redirect Row for Error in OLEDB Source i get a detailed error message with column name as
[RCheck [385]] Error: There was an error with input column "CHECK_STATUS" (456) on input "OLE DB Destination Input" (398). The column status returned was: "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".
But when I set Redirect Row for error and use the Script component to log them into a Table with ErrorDescription based on ErrorColumnID it only gives me this.
The data value cannot be converted for reasons other than sign mismatch or data overflow.

hope u all r doing fine ...well i hve a little problem that i hve installed sql server2005 express edition on my machine and now i just want to import my clients database which is on Acess but m not getting DTS wizard anywhere in 2005 edition so what should i do....infact i found the exe of dtswizrd in program files microsoft sql server folder but when i hit that exe it throws error that one of the file is could not be loaded it is SQLSVC.RLL file...so what should i do shall i reinstall my package ???and even m not confirmed that the free packageof 2005 which i hve downloaded by download center..wheather microsoft gives the whole package or not???like because here in my package i don't find DTS wizard anywhere like we have in 2000 package....

i am novice to SQL server 2005 ,i had sql server 2005 working fine but today i found MSSQLSERVER service not runing i tried but could not make it ,i have VIA disabled but still not working i get the message when i try to start the service it says" MSSQLSERVER service started and stopped. some services automatically stop when they have no work to do."
i guess it has some problem with TCP IP settings coz in the errorlog it says "could not listen on TCP IP port 1433 port already open " i dont know why ?
any help would be appriciated.

Hi. I have a vista (home premium) based laptop. I want to insatll sql server 2005 on it. I had earlier tried it but no luck, I think it never got installed. It didn't showed any error messages either. How can I do this?? Do I need some kind of patch or Add-Ins or what?? HELP NEEDED!!!!

Hi. I'm a newbie for sql server. I have a laptop loaded with win vista home premium edition. I installed sql server 2005 developer edition service pack 1 on it. It said that this version is not supported by vista so upgrade it with sp2, so I did the same. I upgraded it to sql express 2005. Now it got installed but it doesn't let me create new database and displayed the msg "LOGON FAILED FOR 'USER' " . I thought of reinstalling it. But now it is not uninstalling. I tried it through add/remove programs. The 'sql server management tools' is not visible in the start program list,but 'sql server 2005' and some other components of it are visible in add/remove programs. Then I tried using command prompt that was given in microsoft's site only http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=909967#
Step 2: Run the command to uninstall the SQL Server components
c:"%ProgramFiles%Microsoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapARPWrapper.exe /Remove"
But this was also of no help. Now What should I do??? Need your HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
