Error In X-Path Query

Jan 5, 2006

I am new to XML in SQL Server and X-Path Query

Recently I have done the following virtual lab in techNet site

SQL Server 2005 XML Capabilities

The following query is worked fine in the lab

SELECT TOP 10 Demographics.query('declare default element namespace=

"http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/07/adventure-works/IndividualSurvey"

/IndividualSurvey/YearlyIncome')

FROM Sales.Individual

But later I installed SQL Server Express in my system and also the Express Manager CTP

but i am getting the following error if I execute the above query in my system

Msg 9317, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

XQuery [Sales.Individual.Demographics.query()]: Syntax error near '=', expected string literal.

Subject: BCM Install Error - Logfile && SQL Path Path && MSSQL.1?

Apr 16, 2008

When trying to install Business Contact Manager (BCM) for Outlook 2007, the setup failed and I was refered to a log file in my Local Settings/Temp folder. The log actually says that Business Contact Manager was installed sucessfully! BCM is supposed to install SQL Express 2005 as an instance or as instance if SQL Express is already installed. There is an MSSMLBIZ instance in Services..

Who can I send the Log File to for analysis and the fix feedback?

When I first went into Computer Management and clicked on Services and Applications in the left panel, the error message appeared "Snap-in failed to intialize. Name: SQL Server Configuration Manager CLSID:{CA9F8727-31DF-41D2-975C-887D84903967} This message diappeared when I clicked on Services and Applications again. Under Services, there are 3 SQL services - one is an application that was uninstalled 3-4 weeks ago and I disabled this service. The other 2 are: SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) and the other one is SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) When I tried to start either of the last 2, the message appeared: Services "Could not start the SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service on Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Under Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSGL.1 folder is mostly empty. So, it seems like the Path in the Registry is not valid and that nothing is being installed in the MSSQL.1 folder. If so, how do I fix this?

How do I get the BCM SQL instance to install and run properly? what do the messages in Services mean and how do I resolve these.

Thank you!

Gary

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Using For XML Path To Concatenate In A Sub-Query

Feb 17, 2015

how to properly use the "For XML Path" code to concatenate multiple values into one record. What I have is a procedure I've written for a SSRS report that summarizes drive information: date, account, recruiter, times.But each drive can have multiple shifts, and each shift will have it's own vehicle assigned. So a drive may have 1 vehicle assigned to it or it may have 5. If there are 5 shifts/5 vehicles, I don't want to the report to display 5 rows of data for the one drive. So I'm trying to get all of the vehicles to be placed into one field for the report.My initial sub-query will not work because it is possible that it will contain more than one item (vehicle):

Select
DM.DriveID [DriveID],
DM.FromDateTime [FromDateTime],
DSD.ShiftID [ShiftID],
Case When DM.OpenToPublic = 1 Then 'Yes' Else 'No' End As [OpenToPublic],
Case When DM.OwnerType=0 Then 'Mobile' Else 'Fixed' End As [OwnerType],
Case When DM.OwnerType = 0 Then Acct.Name Else CD.DescLong End As [OwnerName],

[code]...

SQL Server Newbie or here either. I'm a newbie as well.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Using XML Data With For XML Path Error

Apr 24, 2014

I have some T-SQL that generates HTML code by using the FOR XML PATH functionality. Once the HTML is built, I am using the following T-SQL to convert it to XML so I am not limited by the output

SELECT @vHTML AS [processing-instruction(x)]
FOR XML PATH('')

where @vHTML is varchar(MAX)

Now, when I run my code in VB.NET and use the ExecuteXMLReader() command, I get nothing back into the XML Reader. I noticed that I needed the XMLDATA directive also, but when I add it, I get the following error

Msg 6860, Level 16, State 1, Line 247
FOR XML directive XMLDATA is not allowed with ROOT directive or row tag name specified.

Access To The Path Is Denied Error

Feb 11, 2008

I have created a package that works just fine from my desktop. I am now testing it by deploying it to the server. The task was imported into the "File System" store. I connected to the SQL Server, from my desktop, with SSMS. I right clicked the package and selected "Execute" If I just validate the task, it validates without errors. When I go to run the task I get a "Access to the path is denied" error at the start of the first file system task. I am sure it is a permission issue. Based on the info from another thread in the forum:

"Security to network shares is dependent on the user who is running the package. If you are running it yourself, make sure you have permissions to the share. If you are running it from SQL Agent, you might need to use a proxy account (search for SQL Agent Proxy in Books Online) to access it."

I have some questions:

1. When I select "execute" what account is SQL Server using for permissions for accessing network folders? Is it mine, SQL Server Agent, something else? If it is my account, why would I get an "Access to the path is denied" error?

2. I don't understand how to use a proxy account, or even if I need one. I assume that when I set the task for scheduling I'll need one. I read the BOL pages, but I'm still confused as to what I need to set up.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lee

SQL Change Stored Path To Documents Query

Jun 22, 2007

I need someone that knows something about SQL queries.

I have a client that is running a Database known as ProLaw. It is in part a
document management system for Law Offices.

They have an SQL 2005 database that tracks per client all the documents they
create.

We had to replace there server with new server. The new server is running
sbs2003 and had to have a different Netbios name then the old sbs2000
server. (Small Bus. Server has some weird quirks that make simply using the
same netbios name impossible. Google search it if you don't believe me.)

The database holds in a single column the full network share path to each
document.

A document for example may have had a path of

"\lawwillsbs2000ProlawDocumentsACME wigets Incsmith_deposition.doc"

Different documents may have different names and more subdirectories but the
root path of "\lawwillsbs2000ProlawDocuments" is shared by all.

The new server is named \sbs2003 I need to change
the first part of almost 3000 path statements to the new server. The rest
of the path is unchanged.

I have had several people running prolaw tell me that I should run this
query:

UPDATE Events

SET DocDir=REPLACE(DocDir, '\\lawwillsbs2000', '\\sbs2003')

WHERE EventKind='O'

This doesn't work. Nothing is changed. I'm guessing it is because this
query assumes the value will be ONLY \lawwillsbs2000 I see nothing in here that tells the query that this is only part of the string. No wild card or other marker.

I need some kind of string function here do I not? Anyone know enough to
help me craft a proper query?

Thanks

SSIS FTP Task Remote Path Error /

Jul 13, 2006

Hi Chaps,

I am trying to set up a SSIS package which uses a FTP task to download some files. In the FTP task editor I have the filename setup as an RemotePath expression. If I do not put a / at the start of the file name generated I get the following error:

[FTP Task] Error: Remote path "test.csv" doesn't start with "/".

If I then place a / infront of the name then then I get an error saying the file does not exist

[FTP Task] Error: File represented by "/test.csv" does not exist.

In both cases I have the DelayValidation property set to true.

However if I log on to the ftp server manually using windows or command prompt the file exists and can be downloaded from the default folder you log into.

I would appriciate any light anyone could shed on this problem.

HELP: SqlCeConnection Path Error In .NET Compact Framework (Pocket PC Emulator)

Urgent DataBase Restore Logfile Path Error Message

May 8, 2007

I am having difficulty restoring a database (DB_1) with 2 datafiles and one log file, DB Structure is as following:

Filegroup PRIMARY with file name 'fnm_data' with physical file name and location D:dbfile_1.mdf,
Filegroup 'FG1' with file name 'fgnm1_data1' with physical file name and location F:dbfile_FG1.mdf,
One log file with file name 'fnm_log' with physical file name and location (E:loglog_db.ldf)

{Note} Logfile resides on E drive whereas Datafiles reside on several other drives.

I need to restore the DB on another machine. And I need to move the log file to a drive other than E.In this case it is K drive. Hence I have used the following code,

restore log DB_1 from disk='M:kupccciclog.txt'

WITH RESTRICTED_USER , MOVE 'fnm_log'

TO 'K:DBlog_db.ldf', recovery, replace,RESTART

go

When I try to restore from backup files, I keep error message saying "Physical file name E:loglog_db.ldf may be incorrect." 'fnm_log' cannot be restored. Use Move command to identify a valid location for the file.

Even though I am using Move command to move the log file.

Then I found that if I create a drive with E: and a folder named 'log' then restore program runs alright. That is, when E:log exists then code does run smoothly. All the restore code is looking for the presence of path of the log file from where it is been backed up. In this case it is E:log folder. Once the database is restored I could kill that directory and nothing happens. Also log file has been restored on K:DB only.

Why the restore code is looking for the initial drive letter and path even though I have used Move command? Is there an issue in my code?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

When i log onto the server with the proxy account, i can navigate to that folder and open the package.

When try to execute it from the command shell:
dtexec /DTS "File SystemCODA_Actuals" /Decrypt "password" /Reporting E /SET Package.Variables[User::JobId].Value;25'

i get the same message. How come? How do i fix this? I've read somewhere that i should grant read to the package store to that user , how do i do that? Can't find that option in the tools or manuals.

Error While Setting Reporting Service And Share Point Exclusion Path

I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on my Laptop for use with IIS 7.0; Everything was working fine untill I opened the Report Server Site with WVD 2008, it asked me to Modify the web.config for debugging. Getting An Error SQL Mobile Encontered A Problem When Openeing The Database; The Path Is Not Valid

Mar 3, 2006

I am using VS 2005, SQL 2005, SQL Mobile

The development environment & the SQL Box are two different boxes.

I am trying to create a simple application where I want to synchronize data between Pocket PC application's ( Emulator) local database(SQL Mobile) to SQL 2005 Database. I have tried the steps outlined in the following link

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171908(SQL.90).aspx

Once I have completed all the steps as per the steps in the above link, I have copied the .sdf file to an another machine where I have the development environment. I have created a device application in VS 2005 and created a datasource poiting to the file (.sdf) copied locally.

Then I have added the following code
string filename = @"e:VelsunMobileTest.sdf";

public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
}

private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DeleteDB();
Sync();

if (VelsunMobileTestDataSetUtil.DesignerUtil.IsRunTime())
{
// TODO: Delete this line of code to remove the default AutoFill for 'velsunMobileTestDataSet.Customers'.
this.customersTableAdapter.Fill(this.velsunMobileTestDataSet.Customers);
}

}

private void DeleteDB()
{
if (System.IO.File.Exists(filename))
{
System.IO.File.Delete(filename);
}
}

private void Sync()
{
SqlCeReplication repl = new SqlCeReplication();

The Setup Has Encountered An Unexpected Error While Setting Reporting Service And Share Point Exclusion Path.

Oct 22, 2006

I got this error message during SQL Server Express install with no error code on Server 2003 SP1. I'm installing on an older development machine and although I do have a very large log file somewhere I wanted to post before I even dug into it. I noticed in IIS under my Webs that the MSSQLExpress webs were there at first but when I clicked on them to get any info or Properties... they dissapeared. So they were almost installed but they no longer exist. Also I do not have a SQL Service Manager icon down near the clock.

I almost took a step to fix this. After reading a few posts about similar problems I thought maybe this happened because the Default Web Sites IP # was not set to (All Unassigned). I was going to try a repair install from Add/Remove Programs but the temporary setup files are already gone. I really dont want to uninstall all 5 SQL components from Add/Remove Programs and start from scratch.

As good security practice we usually remove the Default Web or as in this development servers case we changed the IP from (All Unassigned) to an IP that is only accessible from certain machines on the internal network. I obviously should have read more pre setup guides. Anyway how can I fix this without reinstalling everything?

Integration Services :: Loading Tables Created In Previous Sequence Into Local Archive File - SSIS Path Error

Oct 5, 2015

I've been working on an SSIS package trying to load some data and the archive sequence is faulty. I've been trying to load a few tables created in a previous sequence into a local archive file and I've been getting the error "Could not find a part of the path."

The results aren't telling me what it's finding last and so I don't know where to start.

And the source DOES have data in it. It's something between the source and the destination.

Using An Exec Query To Insert Pdf, .doc File Into Table From A Dir Path Which Is A Field In Another Table

Aug 5, 2007

I have the following query in sql 2005:

PROCEDURE [dbo].[uspInsert_Blob] (

@fName varchar(60),

@fType char(5),

@fID numeric(18, 0),

@bID char(3),

@fPath nvarchar(60)

)

as

DECLARE @QUERY VARCHAR(2000)

SET @QUERY = "INSERT INTO tblDocTable(FileName, FileType, ImportExportID, BuildingID, Document)

SELECT '"+@fName+"' AS FileName, '"+@fType+"' AS FileType, " + cast(@fID as nvarchar(18)) + " as ImportExportID, '"+@bID+"' AS BuildingID, * FROM OPENROWSET( BULK '" +@fPath+"' ,SINGLE_BLOB)

AS Document"

EXEC (@QUERY)

This puts some values including a pdf or .doc file into a table, tblDocTable.

Is it possible to change this so that I can get the values from a table rather than as parameters. The Query would be in the form of: insert into tblDocTable (a, b, c, d) select a,b,c,d from tblimportExport.

tblImportExport has the path for the document (DocPath) so I would subsitute that field, ie. DocPath, for the @fPath variable.

Otherwise I can see only doing a Fetch next from tblIportExport where I would put every field into a variable and then run this exec query on these. Thus looping thru every row in tblImportExport.

Any ideas how to do this?

Error: 8624 Internal Query Processor Error: The Query Processor Could Not Produce A Query Plan.

May 24, 2007

SQL Server 2005 9.0.3161 on Win 2k3 R2

I receive the following error:

"Error: 8624, Severity: 16, State: 1 Internal Query Processor Error: The query processor could not produce a query plan. For more information, contact Customer Support Services."

I have traced this to an insert statement that executes as part of a stored procedure.

INSERT INTO ledger (journal__id, account__id,account_recv_info__id,amount)

VALUES (@journal_id, @acct_id, @acct_recv_id, @amount)

There is also an auto-increment column called id. There are FK contraints on all of the columns ending in "__id". I have found that if I remove the contraint on account__id the procedure will execute without error. None of the other constraints seem to make a difference. Of course I don't want to remove this key because it is important to the database integrity and should not be causing problems, but apparently it confuses the optimizer.

Also, the strange thing is that I can get the procedure to execute without error when I run it directly through management studio, but I receive the error when executing from .NET code or anything using ODBC (Access).
