We open SWL EM, tools, transfer DB, schedule daily transfer.
The next I opened the destination scheduled task only to find the failure history:
"Process Exit Code 1. Invalid Transfer log directory."
Both SQL executive are using local system account which is system administrator.
Any idea?

I have a scheduled job contain 2 steps. Quick question - What are the different ways of executing SSIS Package besides Scheduled Job?Does SSIS support command line execution (DTSRUN command supported in 2005)?
The reason I asked was that Scheduled Job triggered SSIS always error out. But when I call the same SSIS in Visual Studio, it executes beautifully. I wonder if there's some reason behind the error when calling from Scheduled Job.

I have a package that has its source as an Oracle DB on another server. This package will feed data from that source to a SQL Server 2005 DB. So far, the package works fine if it is executed manually even in SQL Mgmt Studio. It's only failed when I tried it as a scheduled job. I guess I need to do "Package Configurations" which includes the UserID and password for accessing Oracle DB ... but I don't know how. Please help.

I'm trying to copy all tables (including indexes, triggers, etc) from one db to another using the transfer sql server object task.
I seem to able copy small amounts of tables (sometimes), but when I select ALL the tables, I get this handy error:
"The requested objects failed to transfer"
I had a few problems when trying to copy certain tables that had foreign keys, but that's sort of expected: you can't stick a key onto a table that references another table that doesn't exist!
I get this error when trying to copy a few tables that do have keys.
There are no primary or candidate keys in the referenced table 'Table1' that match the referencing column list in the foreign key 'FK_Table2_Table1'
Now, Table1 does have primary key on the source, but it seems to want to create the foreign key on Table_2 before the primary key on Table_1 has been created!
My Task is setup with the following:
IncludeExtendedProperties = True
DropObjectsFirst = False
CopySchema = True
IncludeDependentObjects = True
All the Table options (copy indexes etc) are set to True
I have SP2 installed
What am I doing wrong?

I have created a SSIS package that does nothing more than loop through all DBs and copies the userDBs to another server. However, I keep getting an error after the task has created the database during its execution of "Create Role" statements. Here is the error:

Now it appears to me that the Transfer DB task keeps using master as the current database even after it has created the new DB? Why would it does this when at the source the database role is under the usersDB?

I will try to explain things the best I can.
When the data is transferred from source to destination (replace not append), the data in one field in one table is incorrect. Both source and destination tables have the same number of rows (8493). The ProductID field data range at the source is from 58958 to 73008. When the table is copied the ProductID field data runs from 1 to 8493.
What would cause this skewing of data?
This happens on brand new dtsx packages and this only happens in one field out of 5 different tables.
I am baffled. Any help is appreciated.

I am trying to move some tables from one database to another(both 2005) using SSIS. The tables are not dbo tables. I am using sql authentication for the source and windows authentication for the destination SMO conection.
I get the following error:

I am getting an error when an while tranfering data from excel
the error is

I'm trying to copy data over using a Transfer SQL Server Objects Task however I get problems trying to copy over views. I get the similar error (pre sp1) when using import/export wizard and copying over views. Now with SP1 the views just don't transfer. I'm transferring from SQL 2005 to SQL 2005. The error I get is:
Error: 0xC002F363 at Transfer Data (NEW), Transfer SQL Server Objects Task: Table "vw_XXXX" does not exist at the source. Task failed: Transfer Data (NEW)
I know the view exists at the source because:
A) I can select it in the Views List Collection within the Transfer SQL Server Objects Task
B) I'm using the view on the source
Somehow the views are not transferring. Anyone have any ideas?
I am using transfer manager in SQL 6.5 to copy a database and
all objects with data to another server. Transfer manager is not recreating all stored procedures. This even happens when I used it to another database on the same server. Any ideas??
Is it possible/advisable when transfering very large amounts of data from server to server to:
trasnfer the data to a new table first
second alter new table adding indexes, defaults, ets based on original table
if it is what flow item would be used to transfer/alter the indexes and defaults?

I'm using a Business Intelligence project to copy stored procedures and tables from one database to another across servers. I'm having trouble copying tables or stored procedures using the Management.SMO.Transfer class.
I tried copying stored procedure with the property transfer.CopyAllStoredProcedures = true. This didn't work. As a workaround, I used the StringCollection property and executed every string as sql.
Now I'm having trouble copying tables. I don't want to copy all the tables in the database. How do I go about selecting what tables to copy. I tried using ObjectList property and provided the names of the tables in an ArrayList. I get the error
"Transfer cannot process System.String. You need to pass an instance class object."
How can I pass an "instance class object" for something that's in the database? The ScriptTransfer method fails so I can't even see the script that is being generated. There is virtually no documentation for this class.

I wanted to create a package to copy the objects from one database to another and replace those object if they already exist. Therefore, before the package executes you do not know whether all the objects exist on the target server or only some of them.
Using the 'Transfer SQL Server Objects Task' I have found that I cannot get this to execute cleanly by itself. If I set the 'DropObjectsFirst' to false then an error is thrown if the object exists and if I set it to true then an error is thrown if it does not exist.
In order to get round this I have had to create an 'Execute SQL Task' to list all the objects and then go through them dropping them on the target server in a for each loop before executing the 'Transfer SQL Server Objects Task' with 'Transfer SQL Server Objects Task' set to false.
However, is there a better way of achieving this or am I missing something in the 'Transfer SQL Server Objects Task'?

I have been trying to run transfer manager to transfer all of the data
from the production database on one server to a test database on another
server(to refresh it). In order to make sure it runs on the server, I have
been scheduling it under EM to do so and I am pointing to the log on the
destination server on the EM Transfer panel.
For some reason, I am getting the following message in the destination
server error log:

I'm having problems designing a package to attempt to execute a fast load data transfer but failback to regular speed with error redirection in the event of an error.
The way I designed this was to add one data flow task to my package called "DFT FASTLOAD". The data flow copies a table SRC to another table DEST in the same SQL Server database. In the error handler for the data flow task I copied the original data flow task and changed the name to "DFT REGULARLOAD with Error redirection". In this data flow task I did not use fast load and addtionally redirected errors to a text file.
In the Data Flow Task "DFT FASTLOAD". I am copying from a varchar source field(with non-date strings) to a datetime destination field to force errors. However the Data Flow Task "DFT REGULARLOAD with Error redirection" never seems to start transferring data from source to destination. The data Flow Task "DFT REGULARLOAD with Error redirection" turns yellow (after the error occurs in "DFT FASTLOAD"), but no data is being transferred). It seems like it hangs.
Do I need to increase the MaximumError Count or something? The data flow task "DFT FASTLOAD" does not turn red when the error occurs it just remains yellow, so i assume I'm on the right track since it seems the error is caught.
